Title: The horrors of Darksouls
Post by: Tina on December 10, 2014, 09:26:32 PM
If any of you have ever played darksouls, you cam probably guess at what this topic is about. If you haven't played darksouls there is hope for you yet. I have invested many hours into darksouls, so much i lost track. I have also lost track of how many times i died. Sure i won the game after about a year of finding something to beat the last boss with, but now it almost feels like that gamed ruined a part of my life.  Basically this post is about some of your worst moments in darksouls. Please keep swearing to a minimal.

So i'll start us off. My worst moment is this one time when i was fighting Havel the Rock, down in the Undead Burg tower. I was trying to get his ring that would allow me to wear some of the heaviest armor without getting over encumbered. I had found a statedgy that involved dodging behind Havel and doing a backstab for maximum damage with my halberd. When his health bar was almost gone... i broke one of the first rules darksouls, don't get greedy. We both power attacked at the same time and we both died at the same time. His loot disappeared, he didn't respawn, and i lost a key piece of equipment for a pure melee based build. There were tears. :'(

I played that game a little bit. I quit after I was killed by Scrub enemies. It's hilarious watching how people die though.

Sometimes yes it is funny, but mostly in a very frustrating way.

My friend got me started on dark souls. He came to my house for a private birthday party and he noticed it was on my xbox then he taught me how to play. I got it for free during one of the xbox live gold things where they gave away games and that was one of them. After that He got me hooked on it. After that my most frustrating moment had to be with the one boss where the floor destroys as you try to get under him to cut vines or something stupid. I still have yet to beat it. The walk is just too long and the floor breaks so randomly EVERYWHERE. I haven't played since.

You mean the bed of chaos...that one was a hard one. To me there are worse boss fights but that is because once you kill one of the sources holding up her barrier they stay dead. I was able to beat by using light armor, for increased speed, my black knight's halberd, because it is my favored weapon, and then at the last moment when the floor falls from underneath my feet i rolled onto a tree root. That tree root is where you need to land in order to get a chance in order to finish off the boss. There is a pattern to how the floor collaspes, and you have to have patience in order to notice it. That is the key rule to beating dark souls, you need patience.

Haven't played dark souls, but I have played MISERY for STALKER Call of Pripyat... From what I know of both of them, they can be compared.

I recently got it on steam and a wired controller to go with it. My reaction after finally beating the tutorial boss after 6 tries was "This game is not here to be nice"

I need to fix my controller before I play more, though, an issue with the casing of the D-pad makes it impossible to run/walk properly in game.

Also the Two Best Friends Play of Dark Souls II, with Pat and Woolie, is great
