Just a question of curiosity.
When I first had Internet access as a kid, I'd find stories written on a little website on the AOL homepage back then that featured submitted works. A lot of them were by other kids or teens and featured some pretty interesting (for the age group) fantasy works about dragons and other creatures that I couldn't find on the shelves. Eventually I got the idea to start writing my own.

I got started writing (and I don't do much anymore outside of RP's; I just can't get a good enough story with much Substance anymore) when I was grounded once, and I had a pencil and paper. I knew I couldn't draw, so i figured I might as well write!

It started, for me, on the Nsider in the year 2003. The Nintendo forums had a lot of Fan fiction activity. And I was among those who had the game Pokémon Mystery dungeon Red Rescue. I helped and got help through the password system. But I also followed many fan fictions.
My most outstanding imagination came to light shortly and I wrote a rather... Well its was horrible fan fiction about the game. From there been a writer ever since.

I started writing in 5th grade, When I would scribe descriptions of my classmates dying in a brutal and gory fashion. I soon discovered I enjoyed it to much, and began writing about other things, Like zombies and vampires! :D

Haha... Why is this so similar to how I started?

I started around 5th-6th grade when my imagination used to run wild and I used to write so elegantly until my imagination just kinda died out
Now I nudge my imagination and all it does is groan and fart XD

Because children are little beasts.

That is the truth.

When I was 9, I ate a lizard live. not because I was a beast, but because I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed at the time.

I got started writing with a little forums called the YugiohCardMaker forums x3 I used to go on it a lot and I wandered into the fanfiction section accidentally and found this persons fan fiction that I immediately fell in love with and because of it I wrote my own fanfic and ever since then i've wanted to be a writer :D

I don't write as often as I read and edit other people's work, but I guess all of those interests were just close enough for me to want to develop each of them. Used to hate writing when I was younger. I'm not quite sure when the change happened; I just eventually felt like it was a productive way to build on ideas that I didn't want to ignore.
That said, if anyone should need a proofreader or an editor for their stories, feel free to ask. I'll be honest with you. This may make me seem harsh sometimes, but there's nothing that pleases me more than helping someone study and explore their craft. And that will always be my first priority when editing.

I don't really write as much as I like, but I pretty much started with fanfiction. The first story that was fully mine was inspired by a concept in a series I read, and it went on from there.
