Title: Dragons! Dragons! Dragons!
Post by: Trixsie Vixen on October 26, 2014, 11:24:54 PM
Dragons are awesome!
Seriously, how great are dragons?

Although my fursona is a vixen I have a great love of dragons, proving you don't have to be a scalie to appreciate them!
This thread is for dragons and their friends to post anything cool about dragons.

No doubt I was exposed to lots of draconic imagery growing up but the first things that really struck with awe where probably these:

The cover of the Basic D&D books
(http://learningdm.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/basic13th.jpg)

And the poem from the Hobbit 'Far over the misty mountains'

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep, and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek the pale enchanted gold.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

For ancient king and elvish lord,
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.

On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, in twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun.

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day,
To claim our long-forgotten gold.

Goblets they carved there for themselves
And harps of gold; where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves.

The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread;

The trees like torches blazed with light.

The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale;
Then dragon's ire more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail.

The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.

Far over the misty mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away, ere break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!

I is a dragon, and yes, I like dragons, if I didn't, would that be hating myself? Anyway, I know a lot of dragons myself, as well as other creatures. Also I'd like to point out, for those that may not know already, most dragons are friendly.

YES HELLO THIS IS DRAGON NUMBER 3

I actually started with a love for Dinosaurs before anything else. In fact, when I was little, I just thought that all winged reptiles were flying dinosaurs. I learned what a dragon was by the time I was about six, and I loved them. I even made my first "OC" around that time, because I had elected the Land Before Time troop as my imaginary friends back then. However, I really got into dragons when I was twelve.

Anybody remember this book?

That book changed me. I began reading like a maniac, topping out the school's "top reader" chart that year. Same year I read Eragon, and that book was the reason I got into the Inheritance cycle. I own three of the four books, but ruined them. So I'll buy the whole collection again.

However, the Temeraire series is my primary dragon series, now. It's so well written, plus, it's about time I read some steampunk esque fantasy.

Also I'd like to point out, for those that may not know already, most dragons are friendly.

Oh Saph!  *rolls eyes* I'm 1/16 dragon but I'm still proud of my vulpine heritage XDDragon Rider!!  Wow, my boy-cub just read this and loved it ^_^

The Dragonlance series was probably my first dragon-rich series.  But the Robin Hobb books, Assassin's series, Liveship series and so forth were my favourite "grown up" dragon books.

Pfft, that wouldn't happen now! I was, like, 13 when they got ruined. Still a sad day, but hey, I got money to buy them all.

My first fursona was a furry dragon, so no scaliness for me xD Even though I like scales, but I also like fluffy things x3
I dunno what else to say, haven't gotten into D&D or other things like so, I think I'm also horrible at table-top roleplaying games simply because I never had any friends who did it or knew about it ^^;

My big first world problem at the moment is that a new series has come out by Robin Hobb and I haven't even read her previous series (both series set in the same world with dragons) but I'm still reading the Song of Ice and Fire (with dragons) and I don't want to stop that until I'm caught up...

So many dragons to read!

Meanwhile there are so many dragon paintings I remember fondly, but this one always makes me chuckle  >:3
