Title: Rant: Mistreatment
Post by: Na-Senpai on October 12, 2014, 06:16:14 AM
I can't stand seeing how some people treat others! What is everyone's problem? I see all the time so many people bullying others or lying to others trying to make people look like idiots. Trying to upset people. Pushing people's buttons to have a laugh? I cant stand the way I see this in the world. People should treat each other fairly and do it with respect no matter what you think. Dont avoid people talk to them and reach understandings. Dont insult people. Or try to hurt them just to do it. Its cruel and mean and is completely uncalled for. I manage depression constantly so when I feel hurt because of people going out of their way to make me feel like an idiot or call me a liar. Or just trying to insult me. I get so angry and frustrated I want to scream. And that can affect so many more people it's completely unfair. I hate how people think it is ok to do things that would normally be seen as wrong. I've lost faith in humanity because we can't even hold a common standard anymore. What does it even mean anymore!?

I wouldn't let it make your faith in humanity dissipate completely, they just win that way. Bad things usually stand out more than positive, because that's just how the human brain is wired (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negativity_bias). That is likely why the world seems so horrible to some people.

But on the subject of actual bad people, well, there's not as much of them as many people seem to believe. As previously mentioned, the negative tends to stand out more vividly than the positive, so it seems like we meet more of the wretched types rather than the friendly. Let's be honest here. What makes a kind person? Respect, friendliness, understanding, empathy, and standing up for what's right. All of those things can be done without opening your mouth or taking action, the last item excluded. However, a person can't be labelled bad by onlookers until they outwardly do something that is considered bad. So of course you'll see people being negative more often.

That being said, information media has a tendency to push negative things to the forefront of your attention for similar reasons. Keep that in mind; the viewers have influenced informational media to post or talk about negative subjects because it tends to catch their attention more. It's just a theory, but if that's the case, doesn't that mean that many of those viewers are likely people who care greatly about the events that happened, and watch to learn and understand the situation? Most actively bad people would be quite apathetic to anything beyond their own motives, while mere jackasses would probably not care too much about the details and just instantly pass judgement on the situation by the headline.

I do agree that the way some people treat others is disgusting and wrong, and it makes my blood boil to simply hear about. But I keep that anger directed at the actual perpetrators, rather than attributing them to the whole of the human race. They are a part of it, but not all, not even half or a third, likely. On top of that, every person has a shred of good in them, so don't count them out just yet! In all reality, no matter what we do, there will always be bad people. All we can do is stay positive and help all who need it, for if all us people being a boon to the world around us just curled up in a corner and bawled all day instead of doing anything, then negativity would indeed win.

To cite a classic quote: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

I see the point that you make. Youre right the bad do always stand out more often then the good which is an unfortunate thing. But you are also right that we can't blame all of humanity in this as well. I know there are many of good people out there and that many arent as seen because of all the negative we see but as a rant I mostly just said what I felt was need to say. I'm glad you came in to clarify these things to me. Its always nice to see someone who comes in not to destroy your point of you but to try and elaborate so that it can be seen in a newer way. I do agree with you I n the points you make. I just was disgusted on how I saw this woman treat her ex and just wanted to say some things I thought would make me feel better. But I'm truth one bad person won't spoil the others who are good here.

Of course, everyone has a right to their opinion. I just thought that posting some facts and food for thought would be suitable and perhaps helpful. I'm happy to hear that it was just that. Trust me, I have an idea of how you feel, in such a sense. Shit like that would make me angry all the same.

My best wishes to the individual on the receiving end of the incident you mentioned.

Don't let the loud minority drown out the quiet majority

Meh, I don't believe in world peace, I don't think it's achievable. I only really look out for myself, my creed is "If it doesn't affect me, it ain't my problem". Nevertheless, I see people put other's down, physically and mentally, and it ain't a pretty sight.

put it simply, in one simple term, the main thing at the moment that supports what OP is on about: gamergate.

as long as we have people that condone that kind of bull, this crap will be everywhere.  and i mean EVERYWHERE.  if it is somewhere, it is everywhere due to internet.
