Hey all, I have been thinking about getting a fursuit for a while now. But the thing is, I don't really know too much about them other than that wearing one is a transformation experience. Could you answer a few questions? What does it feel like? How hot? Anything to compare to? Thanks for any information that you can provide ^_^

i did a full thread in the fursuiting and courseplay thread if you can find it

It's interesting, that's for sure. I enjoy getting to run around and 'play' more or less. I've only done it once at a con, but... It's also very hot. I know I was honestly surprised with how hot it was, and when I'd take off my head, I'd be dripping. Was pretty thankful for the invention of the headless lounge! I think it's really fun, and comparable to when you go to cons and cosplay as your favorite characters. You meet new people and get to interact with them a lot differently than you would normally.

Hello there :)
To answer your questions:
What does it feel like?
I have always liked dressing up in costumes and cosplays. You can indeed pretend to be someone/something entirely else. Having something like a mask or a head to cover your face helps greatly in achieving that feeling :)
I remember the first time I wore a 'proper' Halloween mask (of a grinning skull with bright yellow/green eyes) and I put it on in the car, I like to just stare at people through the window while we were driving home (at the traffic lights I would do this :P)
I like the reactions the people gave, how they responded. It was a very nice experience, and I kept having good experiences while cosplaying later on too at anime conventions, or wearing other costumes at fantasy fairs :)
How hot?
It can indeed get pretty hot. I think I prefer fursuiting (especially fullbody) during the winter. I'll still get warm and sweaty in the fursuit, but the cold air outside really helps keeping things cooled-down x3
Also, I don't really mind how warm it is outside. I noticed as long as there is shade nearby I can handle it. HOWEVER, I would dtrongly suggest against fursuiting when it is humid. I already knew it would be a bad idea, but I wanted to experience how bad it was, and if it was indeed extremely a bad idea to do so. So I went full fusuiting on a warm and HUMID day.
You will get warm quicker, you will have a very difficult time cooling down. Seeing as it is humid/moist when you sweat and the air is already humid, it is difficult to cool down. You will sweat a lot easier too, thus it kind of becomes this inevitable loop: You sweat, the air is moist, you can't cool down, you sweat more, etc.
So yeah, suiting with humid air is not a good idea :P
I don't know exactly what you mean with the comparing question.
Do you mean how to compare fursuiting with another experience, and if yes, with what specifically do you mean to compare? Heat, the 'transforming' experience, or something else? :)

What I mean is if there is any experience that most people can relate to that just the experience feels like. Of being able to see the joy in kids eyes as they see that big fluffy thing, or just people admiring the suit?

For me myself each experience is unique and hard to describe. I can't really say it's the same to, or similar to another experience. It really also depends I guess if you like kids in general or not.
I myself am not a big fan of them, however, I do like it when they smile and/or hug my suit. (BUT! They should be clean of course, not smear their make-up/costume stuff and/or food on me ._. Then again, with very young kids, I would usually be upset with their parents, a lot of kids don't really 'realise' they're holding food, or that the food/drink/make-up can dirty/damage the suit).
So for me, I can't really compare it to anything ^^; But maybe others can.
Also, what kind of suit are you thinking of getting, if I may ask?
(What style for example: Toony, semi-realistic, realistic, etc.)

If I am able to get a suit, I am thinking that I will get a toony. I like the playful look that alot of them have :)

Ah, cool ^^
You can indeed make sure there are quite nice and big ventilation places in the head. Just double-check with the builder for this. Every little bit helps :)

Madefuryou is really good ^^
I have an IRL furry friend who got a digitigrade fullsuit from them last year and it's really really nice and well-made.
