Title: There's some furs I just don't understand.
Post by: L4BY_ on May 23, 2014, 09:29:48 AM
Hey guys!
For the last 5 months, I've been studying hate in the furry fandom. I'm that kind of person, I like to talk with people and understand why. I saw the "dark" sides of the fandom, it makes me feel depressive thinking about it. So, I got on with the family-friendly, irl side of the fandom and ignored all the negative stuff.

Haters often say that we are everywhere, on every forum and that what we do is spam likns to furry porn to users that are either not interested or too young. I'm against that and I thought they were making up stuff when they said that.

But one day, I was with a friend (who was the first to introduce me into the awesome furry universe) on a Minecraft server and for no reason, he started posting links to yiff. He's a really nice guy, he's 2 years younger than me, 15. He told me he likes yiff but I don't understand why he doesn't keep that to himself. He says he wants to give the fandom a good aspect but then why did he do it? It just causes drama and problems that aren't needed.

I'm not against yiff or anything else that can be a little disturbing (fetishes), people are allowed to like it, it's not a crime. But posting it online publickly where everyone can see it, seriously, why the hell would you want to do that? I don't understand.

I have this other irl school friend who is very shy and hasen't got any friends. People call him a zoophile and all the other negative things I've heard before. I talked to an other furry friend who's in his class, and she said that he draws yiff art in class in front of everybody. He likes yiff, but he just can't keep it to himself.

That is all I have to say for now. I hope I didn't say anything harming anyone, sometimes I say things that seem nice for me that turn up being shocking for others. I don't mean it.

People who spam with links, just do it to cause drama and need to stop, regardless of how nice they are.

However the kid drawing the yiff? No one would know unless they were in his bubble. One of my friends draws yiff. Nobody says anything because they don't pay her anymind, so you should tell them to leave the kid alone, unless the kid is going and showing it off to everyone, then he needs to stop.

Believe it or not, this has nothing to do with yiffy art or furries.  The first sentence answered it: "on a Minecraft server".  Before anyone attacks me, I'm focusing on the "server" part.
This happens to people.  Normal everyday citizen.  They go online and suddenly it's like their IQ drops 50 points.
I once had a intelligent friend online.  We'd banter back and forth, generally had a good time.  I respected his opinion, and him mine. So I was interested when he said he invited one of his irl friends to the forum we belonged too.  He told me, he was pretty cool guy and kinda like him.
I kid you not, the first post he made...in the middle of setence: "meow hiss bark bark. there animal noises i don't know, so whatever".
...
What?
This wasn't even a furry forum.  I mean.... what?

So, that can happen to anyone.

True people really shouldn't be discriminated by their likes its their opinion that its good...as for posting publicly r34 sites should be the ones you upload your art to...

When you've been in the fandom for years, after awhile you can meet furs that can ruin your overall impression of it.  After awhile you begin to feel like "I come on here to escape from the realities of the world for a little while and just have fun, and here comes the drama queens, borderlines, and "suicidals" to ruin the fun."  So furs hating furs can be easy to see after awhile, but even then it's not just a specific, targeting the fandom, situation.  I can at least say that some people I just don't like, and I'm not going to let us being furs suddenly make me change my opinion, I mean that's like saying hey we both love chocolate therefore I have to like you!  As far as your minecraft friend goes, that could have been just an act of attention seeking or attempting to start drama, but it could also be an awkward attempt at stating an identify.  I've noticed early to mid adolescent furs tend to have a bit more zeal about the fandom.  It's not a surprise though, I mean at that age we're trying to establish who we are and to differentiate from the family and social norms, and at the age we really don't have a work identify to show off.  I mean no one wants to brag about being the sandwich boy at McDonalds, so furry may be all he has.  Still doesn't excuse that his behavior was a bit obnoxious...
