Title: The Squad.
Post by: Ritenger on April 23, 2014, 07:36:03 PM
Antonia woke with a start. She had been dreaming about her glory days, and what this job could do to help her whole life, a portal to a new life where she was the most renowned mercenary ever. Heh, hardly. She got up out of he clean bed, inside of her generic star ship room, the walls were blindingly white, with a distasteful painting on the wall. She guessed that her "friends" would all be sleeping in the same sort of room.

She got up out of her bed, brushed her teeth and had a shower in the cramped bath room with barely enough room to walk around in. After all of that was out of the way, she put on her standard casual clothing, a generic green T-Shirt and cargo pants. As she was leaving her room she flipped on her sneakers. Her and her "friends" had been on this ship for a couple of days now, she was getting restless and was ready to meet some of her companions. She opened the door and looked out into the hall, the Alliance had wanted everyone to keep on lock down, to stop mingling and make last minute background checks. Not like the guards really cared anyway. As she looked out into the hall, she saw the same old shiny, bright and "clean" walls. She looked up and down the hall, it was clear.

She stepped out into the corridor and started making her way to the closest cabin on the left. She hoped whoever was inside was someone part of her mission. She opened the door to be greeted by the site of a sleeping wolf with black fur. She walked over and crouched next to him and poked him in the arm. "You awake?"

((Here it is! Sorry, but I live in a slight different time zone than most of you, so I only had time now  to post...  :/ ))

It was the first night in over a years that Zian had slept for more than five hours straight in a row. Maybe it were the pills the doc had given him, or maybe it was just the feeling of being in space again that relaxed his nerves and quelled his dreams. The constant undertone of conversations held and orders given by the Order’s members, always echoing through his mind, never far away.

Now, his rest was interrupted by the entering of a person into his room. He peered at the shadow through half-closed eyes, and quickly realized it was a female. She did nothing to keep the racket she was making down, so Zian did not immediately react: an assassin would be quiet, or at least trying to do so, while most other would have at least knocked before entering. Probably one of his new squad mates. Most likely… what was her name again? Braden… or something along those lines? He had heard about her in the briefing: tough girl, slum-born and fighter. Had quite a reputation as being someone to get the job done, the good or the bad way. An interesting teammate, and someone to keep an eye on.

As she poked him, he opened his eyes further and sat up slightly.
“Yeah… I’m awake now, thank you very much.”, he said, without any true anger in his voice, “You always come barging in on people like this?”

He rolled out of his bed and got to his feet, stretching his aching muscles. “Name’s Zian, and who might you be?”

Antonia stood up and took a step back to let Zian stand up. She studied the man's appearance and noticed a nasty scar carved into his arm. Wait... was that in the shape of something...? She shook the thought out of her mind and addressed his question.

"Heh, only when they sleep in, sleeping beauty" She put out her cybernetic hand as a greeting. "The name's Antonia Braden, and what brings you to this fine ship?"

He noticed her gaze at his scar, and quickly donned a shirt hanging on a nearby chair. She did not think too much of it, he saw, but it had been careless of him to leave the scar out in the open.

He paused at the sight of the cybernetic limb, but shook it anyway. He had never liked the idea of replacing bodily tissue with metal, and had only taken his eye-implant out of absolute necessity. And an cybernetic arm of this size…

“I got assigned to this… fine, sure, if you like these amounts of filth covering the whole bloody ship… anyway, this spacewagon, to join some kind of last-minute squad going on a suicide mission without any intel beforehand. Sounds familiar?” he said, not even trying to hide his sarcasm.

Antonia noticed the way he gazed at her arm and remembered that sort of look, someone who didn't like cybernetics. The rest of his words went right over her head. She pulled her arm away from the hand shake angrily, feeling offended.

"That's no way to make a first impression..." she thought to herself. She gritted her teeth and smiled an unconvincing fake smile. "I'm gonna go and see if the other's are awake" She walked to the open door and turned around. "You coming?"

So far for his no-enemy, play-nice policy. He hadn´t expected her to be this nasty this soon already. Had a weakness considering her arm, he guessed. It wasn´t that he disliked people with cybernetics, it was just that... it somehow felt wrong to him.

It was going to take some time to mend this first impression...

“Ehm, sure, right behind ya.”, he said, walking after her, keeping a little distance between the two of them.

(Nix was walking down a corridor when he took a left down another corridor. He had a towel wrapped around his waist and was brushing his teeth with a tooth brush that had no tooth paste on it. Nixs body wasn't very muscular but he did have a good pair of abs. He was humming a tune only he knew. When he turned the corner he saw Antonia walking into a room and he wondered what she was doing up so he slipped to the door and listened to what went on. When they came out he folded his arms to give off a sort of "serious" look.)

"fine time you decided to wake up. I've been up for almost an hour."

(As he said this he took the tooth brush out of his mouth.)

Silverwinds' single eye opened blearily in the semi-darkness of the room he'd been given aboard ship.
He hadn't had time to do anything with the small personal space, leaving it pretty much a box with bare walls and minimalist furnishings. The only evidence of his taking over so far were the clothes he'd discarded getting into the cabin bed, piled haphazardly on a chair, and his kit bag shoved up against a bulkhead wall.
The fox blinked through watery eyes, and winced as he propped himself up on one elbow. Age was slowly catching up to him, and a night spent on a hard, narrow bed had consequences the next day. He opened his muzzle and tried to speak, but coughed through a dry mouth. Swallowing and clearing his muzzle, he tried again, sitting upright.
"Lights," he said, and the overhead flourescent strip pinged and popped to life with a hum, casting a somewhat sickly glow over the faded walls.
The vulpine pressed the heels of both hands to his face for a moment, before sitting still a moment, his pointed ears twitching and swivelling as he listened to the sounds from the vessel around him. Murmured voices, humming and rattling of machinery, and the distant throb of engines; all normal for a ship in transit.
Making a decision that he'd have to find out what was going on, and now was as good a time as any to meet his new comrades - and  besides all of that, he was hungry.  The fox quickly donned his shipboard fatigues and checked his appearance in the polished rectangle of metal above the rooms meagre washbasin. Ragged and rugged as always, and getting greyer every day. The corner of his muzzle twitched up in a wry smile at that, before he turned and headed for the door, stepping out into the corridor beyond in search of his new comrades.

Antonia turned to Nix and grinned at his words "I've been awake for a while now, just came out to wake up sleeping beauty over here."

Antonia went to put out her cybernetic hand, but remembering what happened a second ago, she put out her other hand. "The name's Antonia, and yours?" But before Nix could respond Antonia had turned around to see Silverwind stepping out of his cabin.

She beckoned him over, and turned back to Nix. "The whole gang is here" She said with a grin.

"it appears so." (He Said in reply to her comment.)

Zian grumbled a ´Thanks´ towards Antonia, rolling his eyes a little. He did, however, notice her hesitate and see her offer her other, organic hand. He felt kind of bad for hurting her, but he shrugged it away. With his job, friends were not needed, only allies of convenience.

He looked the new guy over. His briefing from the Order had been short, and of little real information. The intel he had received was meagre to say the least. He did not even know this guy’s name, only that he was some kind of Scout, and a good one at that. Zian frowned as he realised the fox had crept up to them, while they had been talking, probably eavesdropping the entire conversation, and that he hadn’t even heard the scout’s approach. Zian’s face turned into a friendly smile, but his eyes didn’t, and cursed himself for his lack of attention.
Another colleague to keep an eye on: couldn’t have any sneaking spies around him all the time…

“Hello there! Name’s Zian. I’m the sniper. Nice to meet you!”

"And I you Zian. The names Nixon but you can call me nix."

 (He said to the group.)

"I'm a 5th division scout with some assassin training."

(Said nix hoping he could impress some of them.)

Silver saw the group standing a short distance away as he stepped out of his room. Twitching his tail in curiosity, he hesitated, before nodding slowly and in a reserved fashion in greeting, and stepped over to the small knot of people congregating in the corridor.
He caught  a couple of names thrown out as he moved closed, Nix and Zian among them. Professional roles seemed to be aired as well, and he heard one mention he was a sniper.
"Pleased to meet both of you," he said in his gravelly tone as he stood nearby. "Name's Blade. Silverwind Blade, actually. As for what I do... well, a l'il bit of everything, I guess. I got a good amount of skill in jus' soldierin', an' I can drive most things with wheels or tracks. An' I'm a pretty good engineer as well." He shrugged and gave a half smile. "Either way, I can look after m'self an' make myself useful to y'all."

(Shaking blades paw he said with a smile.) "we definitely need someone on transportation. I wish I could drive anything other then a car!" (Nix said with a laugh.) "and trust me when I say you can definitely be useful to the mission."

Antonia was taken aback by Blade's large description. He seemed nice, a little simple, but he seemed nice. "Hey blade, meet Nix and Zian and I'm Antonia" She took a step back, into the middle of the corridor, forcing everyone to focus on her.

"Ok, now that the niceties are out of the way, lets get to business." She straightened her self and spoke from something she had prepared in her mind earlier. "You have all come here for a reason. Some for money, some for..." She trailed off realizing she was speaking about her self. "Uh, well anyway, the mission is to go to some gods forsaken planet, that happens to have an Alliance outpost on it, but what has happened is that a buncha alliance citizens or soldiers or something have gone missing, so our job is to check out what's going on."

Antonia took a breath, breathless from the all the talking. "Okay, any questions?"
Title: Re: The Squad.
Post by: Colioli4 on April 24, 2014, 07:44:07 PM
Zian found it alright that Antonia took immediate control over the situation, and with that, the entire squad. She seemed like a good leader, as far as he could tell. He would have to get on her good side again, if he wanted to make his own task any easier. But if she cracked, or turned out to be a liability… Well, nothing could get in between him and his given job. Any problems, he would take care off. But for now, he was going to go nice and easy. No need for unwanted attention.

Still, Zian did find the intel they had received as meagre as the information his Order had provided to him, so he did have a number of questions to ask their new squad leader.

“Ehm, yes, about how many missing inhabitants are we speaking? And will we be able to count on any Alliance support while on the ground?”
Title: Re: The Squad.

Antonia wasn't actually prepared for any questions when Zian asked. "Uhhh... We should be trying to find 7+ soldiers... probably an elite sport of soldier... Oh and yes we will, there was an outpost nearby that they hadn't heard from in a while, but that isn't anything unusual in these sort of colonies" Antonia sighed. "Ok, anymore questions?"

"Yes I have two. Will we be better briefed on the mission somewhere? And can I see what the planet looks like?" (Nix was really curios of how this planets plant life grew and the animals on it.)

"Uh, yes you will be better briefed, but that comes later." Antonia looked around at her squadmates too make sure they knew that they would be better educated later. "Oh and, you can see it at that window over there" Antonia points to an intersection in corridors, where there was a window, allowing you to see the large planet they were hovering over.

"Pleasure to meet you all," replied the older vulpine, when introduced to his new comrades. Shortly after he was introduced, Antonia launched into their pre-briefing, and the fox turned in rapt attention to listen closely. As he did, he removed the blank-featured data-pad from a thigh pocket on his fatigues, and activated a few holographic icons. Shimmering images and characters appeared in the air above the device as he listened, and the device transcribed her words. His single eye was intently focused on her, and ears pricked to study her words, while his digits worked to highlight key phrases to research further - he was damned if he was going in without the most information he could gather beforehand.
Nix and Zian asked further questions, and he listened for the answers. So far, it sounded mysterious and a little strange, but not unlike what they'd been told: people were missing, and that was never good news.
"I'm takin' it fer granted that this planet wasn't a bustlin' metropolis," added the fox. "Considering that the Alliance aren't racing to investigate and have just sent us. This is more of a frontier planet. No chance it could just be something like a local life form, or some kind of accident, or has that been ruled out. And have there been any reports of hostiles in the area - like, y'know. Bandits or whatnot?"
As he spoke, he moved to the window his new C.O. had pointed out, looking down at the slowly revolving surface below with a frowning look of curiosity and concentration on his rugged, grizzled features.

Antonia wasn't sure how to answer any of the questions, considering she had only a little but more knowledge than all of them. "Uh.. it's a frontier planet, an extremely recent one, if I remember correctly." Antonia rubbed her chin in thought. "It's probably some sort of accident, but assume the worst, there have been rumors of bandits and... other forms of life attacking recently settled colonies."

Antonia had a new found respect for Blade, hearing his voice in a darker tone made him sound like he had been through A LOT of shit.

Zian kept his eyes focused on Blade, and only glanced at the planet once out of minor curiosity. There was something about this guy, something threatening. He was the oldest of the whole bunch, true, and probably did not have the same fleet of foot, strength and reflexes he must have had in his younger years. However, he still looked the man, able to handle any situation at any time. He was probably the most experienced one in the squad, and that made him an important character to keep an eye on, maybe even more so than Antonia or Nixon…

Hadn’t his superiors warned him especially about this guy. Zian tried to remember, but something in his mind withheld him from reaching the information, hidden in his neurons. A block, he realised with a shock, the Order had put a block over a part of his mind! There was no way of reaching the memories without the right keyword or phrase. For the first time in his life, he felt betrayed by the Order, HIS Order. The Grand Masters hadn’t even told him about the mental obstacle…

Zian narrowed his eyes for a second. Something made Blade important, something important enough for the Order to go through all the trouble of secretly placing a block inside him… And he was going to find out what it was.

Zian shook his head and looked back at his new squad leader, and grinned at her. “When do we start?”

Antonia looked at Zian and saw a troubled look on his face as he studied Blade. She went to ask him what was the problem but was cut off by his question. "Hm, I guess we should find some sort of Alliance superior... how about we leave this hall and look around for our new superiors, sound good with you guys?" She turned to the whole group as she says this.

Blade's ears pricked at Antonia's words, and he repeated them, a gleam of interest creeping into his single eye.
"Other forms of life," he repeated with a creeping grin. "Cool."
He noticed Zian looking curiously at him, but simply took the attention for interest in his words,  and nodded at him politely, before going back to his notation and mission-planning. As Zian spoke up to mention the idea of moving things along, he nodded in agreement, gesturing for Antonia to lead on as she mentioned the idea of locating their superiors and moving things into the true briefing.
"Lead on," he said with a smile. "Think we're about done here with things, and mebbe some info from higher up will answer more of our questions an' get things movin'".
He fell into step in line with the others as they moved on down the corridors, stowing his PADD back in it's pocket, and glancing around the ship as they went.

Antonia grinned at Blade's words. "Yes, very cool I'd wager" She walks to the edge of the hall and looks around the corner, seeing another empty hall but she heard some voices coming from a different hall. She turns back to her companions. "Well this place is just a maze of empty halls, but I can hear some voices from a hall over there." She turned back "Lets get going then!" She smiled.

Other lifeforms... Zian was intrigued by the opportunity to meet aliens. Money could be made from them, power be gained, technologies learned... The discovery of another intelligent race could result in a peaceful trade cooperation between both species, or an all-out war - both equally profitable for the Order. Part of his assignment was to look into the matters of possible intelligent lifeforms on their target planet, and to see which option would apply on these species : cooperation or annihilation. After that, the Order would take matter into hands through their numerous pawns, spread out through the upper echlon of the Alliance. However, this was not his most important task...

Zian followed Antonia and the others silently, admiring the view of the planet they were orbiting through the sparce windows from time to time.

Antonia walked down the corridor opposite the window everyone was looking at, then took a right down the corridor towards the voices. As she turned the corner she was greeted by a large steel door, marked: "The Bridge" Antonia knew this is where the captain and most of the V.I.P's would be hanging out.

There was a small screen to the lower right of the door, with a section to put a key card through, and a section to enter a password, an 6 digit pass code at that. She knocked on the door lightly but she knew none of it would be heard over the top of all the voices coming from inside so she slammed it as hard as she could with her fist, but none of it could be heard from inside the room. She looked back to her companions. "Any ideas?"

Blade followed in the wake of the others, glancing around at the ship as they moved. Like everywhere else aboard, the corridors around and about had a used, lived-in look, but were nonetheless functional and efficient-looking. His ears twitched as they walked, and his nose, picking up the scents and sounds of people nearby.
"I think we're headed in the right direction," he said, nodding toward the halls and doors nearby. "Let's hope someone in there can poke us in the right direction, eh?"

Zian raised an eyebrow over the man's fast talking and hurried to follow the group back the way they had come, sighing heavily.

'With all this running to and fro, it is no wonder the Order wants to clean up the slow beaurocratic mess the Alliamce has turned into,' he mused. He felt strangely proud and satisfied to have been selected as a proper candidate to help clear out the obstacles in his Order's name.

Antonia stopped in her tracks, she had heard a loud crashing noise from a nearby room. "Did anyone else hear that!?" She spun around, towards the room the noise was coming from and walked up to it, bringing her to a room, just 2 doors down from the room she was just knocking on."Let's hope nothing's going wrong in here." She quickly swings open the door, revealing a Tall Dog with a large Knife in his hand.

Blade followed along in Antonias' wake, shrugging at her comment regarding the individual who'd passed on the card with a half-smile, sharing in her amusement. Last-minute changes and hurried explanations were all part and parcel of military or para-military operations, and nothing he wasn't used to already. Not to mention, since the mission was one of rescue and recon, it was likely being modified on the fly due to the ever-changing amount of information.
"Things probably keep changing," he said with a slight shrug. "The closer we get to the planet, likely the more info they're pulling in, so there's more to meet and talk about".
The moment changed when there was a crash and a raised voice from a nearby room. The markings indicated another crew bunk-room, and the vulpine raised an eyebrow as their erstwhile leader investigated, standing back with a ready but not overly aggressive posture in case it tuned out to be something bad - but instead, the door revealed a slightly bed-dishevelled black-furred canine with some wicked-looking tattoos. Bemused, the fox tilted his head and fixed the newcomer with a one-eyed glance, waiting to see what happened next.
"What do ya think?" he murmured quietly to Zian, aside. "'Nother recruit?"

Silverwind rolled his eye at the attitude of the man in the doorway, and his apparent taking of everything literally, relaxing his posture.
"I didn't mean literal recruit," he said patiently. "I meant a new member to our merry l'il mis-matched band here. I wasn't sayin' anythin' about any of yer experience or not, or about any of yer fancy-ass toys. Zian shrugged at Silverwind's question. "Guess so... It wasn't really clear in the job description with how many we would be... Or he is crazy..." he whispered back as the dog went to work with what looked like some kind of specialized suit. Zian's eyes widened as he noticed the long weapon the dog was holding in his paws. "Interesting..." he murmered to himself as he recognized the blade as a so-called 'Kpinga'.

Then, he steps forward and shakes the dog's outstretched paw, to not let any awkward pause exist between the squadmembers and the new guy. "Hi, I'm Zian, squad Sniper, or something along those lines," he added a little embarassed, "we haven't really gotten any specific jobs yet... so..."

Very nice. They usually call me in for stealth missions. *he looks around* Where the hell is my- oh, there she is. *he picks up his bow off the coffee table, it's a military grade hunting bow, modern design* This baby right here, does just that. She's light, her range is unlike any bow I've ever used, she can stop a stampeding rhino dead in one shot, and most of all, she's quiet as a mouse... a dead one.

"Impressive." She said half heatedly, rolling her eyes. She wasn't impressed by Nixon's up beat attitude, but she would just have to deal with it. "Nice to meet you Debaku, it's good to have someone of your... profession on our... Squad, I guess." She noticed the OpCam suit in his hand, she would have one for herself, if the price tag wasn't so high. "Oh and yes you can keep the OpCam suit, as long as you don't pull anything on us." She beckoned to the door. "Well, with our new member, how about we get going?"

"Sure!" Zian smiled, but not entirely with his eyes. An Opcam suit could be a problem when secrecy on his part was needed... Together with the scout Nixon, this guy Dubaku could be trouble...

"The big men behind this operation are probably waiting for us."

(Nix saw everyone glance at him with a weird kind of look he has seen before. He knew they thought he wasn't very..."impressive" so he knew he had to impress them or at least gain their respect in someway. Can't do that in a corridor though,so he laid silent till they got to whet ever they where going.) "if I don't gain their respect it could mean life or death." (Nix thought to him self.)

Antonia nodded to Dubaku. "Of course." She walked out of the open door and saw the surprised lizard, obviously surprised by their sudden departure. "Hello, sorry about that, instincts and all. but we've got a new friend now!" She jerked her thumb towards Dubaku. "Well let's get going then..." Antonia nodded so the lizard turned and started to fast walk, obviously annoyed by the wait. He led them back to the familiar door, leading to the bridge. "Alright, I'll leave you here, have a nice morning." The officer spun around quickly before Antonia could reply and jogged off into the twisting and turning corridors to their right of them. Antonia turned to the door and started flipping the card around in her hand, mainly out of her sudden thirst. She smiled to her team, nervous that they might figure out about her addiction, so she proceeded to quickly slice the card though the card section of the key pad. It answered with a "ding!" and the door slid open.

The sight of the bridge surprised Antonia, it was about 20 meters long and 5 wide, with computers running down both sides, the busy crew members working away at the screens. The light from the screens created a light blue tint to the room, complimenting it nicely. Right smack in the middle of the room was a slightly elevated part of the floor, which was projecting a holographic version of the planet below. The part of the floor was surrounded by people, one of them, a bear, turned towards them and beckoned them over.

As they entered the room Antonia muttered "So THIS is where everybody is..."

(The bridge was big and did look nice but nix loved the computers more. They seem to be computers of a high processing ability. Something he has never seen before. The holograph in the room was very cool also for nix loved holographic science. He also wanted to use it and see what sort of terrain, plants, and native species were on the planet. Nix was geeking out inside but he knew he had to contain himself. He walked on with the group.)

*Dubaku admired the large bridge, but what he was more interested in was the planet in the holographic projection, it showed so much detail, like what sort of weather conditions, wildlife or terrain he'd be dealing with* "Well, damn. This is actually kinda nice. So where are we havin' this little meeting, exactly?

Blade stood quietly as he looked around the bridge along with the others. He'd been aboard many starships over the years, but as an infantryman and soldier, and hadn't been a true member of the crew in any active capacity, and as such had only seen the bridges of starships a handful of times. Most of them had been older technology than this one, less elaborate and up to date. So, he looked around in admiration at the sophistication on display, sneaking a peek at the various crewmen about their duties, as well as at the display of the world below rotating serenely in the centre of the bridge.
"Hope all this helps with giving us the briefing we need," he murmured. "Looks like they have pretty much every kind of sensor and scanner here to get a look at that world down there".

The bridge was like most Zian had seen in his life: neat, filled with high-end gadgets and busy as hell. A grin spread on Zian’s face. So this is where the entire ship had gathered.
“Looks like we found what we were looking for,” he murmured, and then to Silverblade: “Must be a pretty important ship to have this kind of equipment…”, while pointing at a pair of communication consoles next to the holographic view of the planet. “Those two have only gone into production last month. So either this ship was lucky enough to pick them up first, or they have received them early on..”

Antonia waltzed over to the bear, she assumed he was the captain, noticing his well made uniform and the slashes on his shoulders. "Top of the morning captain, so you're the "Big man" behind this operation?" She smiled at him, hoping he would get her attempt at humor. He didn't. "Uhhh... Can you please be serious Mrs. Braden?" Antonia shruged with a smile. "Well, anyway, I called you here to explain your purpose on this ship, because I've been told NONE of you got your full mission briefings! My apologies on that, but what can you do?" He pressed a button on a large console connecting to the projector. The floating image zoomed in, showing a large landmass with a tower in the middle of it. "Well, this is Outpost 42069, we recently lost contact with it." He pressed another button that zoomed the hologram over to a large blank spot, free of anything. "Their main job was to set up communications to our new colony, the empty spot you see there." He pressed another button, bringing it back to the view of the plant.

"So, in response we sent in one of out commando units, preparing for the worst, oh and we got the worse." He pressed another button on the console, and it brought up an image of a mutilated corpse, it had several gunshot wounds and cuts across the body, with a large hole in it's chest revealing it's entire chest cavity. "This was the last message to come from the outpost before whatever happened happened." He turned to the group with a serious look on his face. "So that's where you guys come in, we need you to figure out what the hell happened." He folded his arms across he chest. "So, got any questions?"

*Dubaku raises his hand* A few questions, sir. Will this require stealth and/or killing? Will Optical Camouflage suits function on this planet?  Relatin' to the first question, how much killin' do I get to do?

Silverwind nodded at Zian's reply to his own musings. "You're right," he replied as he looked at the consoles he'd pointed out. "I guess if they're willing to send a ship this sophisticated and up to date for this mission, then it must be something very important to command to risk this, and to make an investment in time and manpower... though that does make me wonder why they've sent mercenaries to do the job - if it's that much of a serious issue, surely you send your own professionals to do the job..." he trailed off on that thought, before a powerfully built ursine who was evidently the captain began the briefing, after a little verbal fencing with Antonia that put a smile on his muzzle for a few moments.

The one-eyed fox listened carefully as the captain explained the mission. For the most part, he simply confirmed the details they'd already received, and elaborated on many points. The image accompanying them was gruesome, but gave plenty of clues of its' own: The presence of bullet wounds could point to a number of things - if the person in question had been killed by whoever had taken the personnel and spirited them away - or worse - then they used recognizable firearms technology. Though, the massive hole in the chest was less than reassuring on that regard. And it wasn't a pleasant way for anyone to die. Though, on reflection, there were very few ways that were pleasant to die.

"This tower - how many personnel were there? And were they military or civilian personnel that were present? I'm just wondering, could there have been any possible provocation for any kind of, I don't know; hostile action of any kind? Did they report any life-forms of any kind on the planet that could have been responsible in any way, sir?"
He folded his arms, resting his chin on one hand, as he studied the slowly rotating holographic image of the planet, and slowly pulled through his thoughts.
"I'm just thinkin'," he said out loud for the benefit of his team-mates and commander, "what kinda thang it is we're dealin' with here: hostile forces, y'know, bandits, raiders or some kinda buttheads like that. XT's - that is, sapient hostiles who ain't from round our parts - of some kind, or whether it could be some kinda of hostile indigenous critter. Like, some kind of nasty bug or predator that they ain't expectin' at all".
He shrugged. "I'm sure y'all think I'm nuts fer suggestin' it... but y'know. 'There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio...'"

Zian nodded back at Silverwind, and followed the conversation between the bear and Antonia with wry amusement.

When asked for questions, he raised his hand defensively.

"Ack, what they all asked, capt'n. I just can't wait to head down there and kick the collective asses of who or whatever's done that, that's all!" he said with a tiny smile.

Though especially Silverwind's remark had got him thinking on the possibility of what he called XT's, and had to surpress a shiver when he tried to think of whatever could punch a hole straight through a man's body. Didn't look like a shotgun blast to him, or any other weapon he had ever witnessed. Probably not the kind of alien his Order would want to deal with, he mused, however, it was definitely a great possibility to find and secure samples of new technologies: a worthy goal for his Masters.

So, what're we dealing with here, captain? Opposing military? Rogues? Local wildlife? *he observed the giant hole in the soldier's chest* That definitely looks like some animal just tore him open. Whatever animal this possibly was, it's gotta be one hell of a catch. I can just imagine hanging its head on my wall.

"Hopefully NO killing, Dubaku." He then looked over to Silverwind, and listened intently to his questions. "We haven't ruled out the possibility of raiders, or wildlife, but there have been strange readings on the planet, suggesting their may be a type of bug on the planet, but so far, out attempts at figuring it out, so far, have been futile" He the motioned to the hologram of the body, which then quickly turned into a holographic projection of a massive maze of tunnels, which went deep under ground. He then looked to Zian, and grinned at his statement. "That's the spirit, we need more confidence like that in the Alliance." He turned back to Dubaku, and listened to his statement. "Hmph, you'd have to get it past security first!" As he said this, someone rushed into the room and stood still next to the group, holding a mad salute. "Captain Sir! The equipment you requested is now ready and waiting sir!" The captain turned nodded to the man, who then ran out of the door and beckoned to the group. "I would ask you people to accompany me to the weapons locker." He turns and waits, presumably for us.

Zian couldn't suppress a smile at the mentioning of equipment. He hadn't had much time these last days to check over his weapons and armor, and felt great just thinking about holding his trusted rifle in his paws again.

"Hell yeah, let's go get our gear, and get down dirtside quick!" he said, his grin widening.

Blade had little to say about the drawing of their equipment; it was a standard part of any mission, and if there was a quartermaster in charge of the armoury, then he was there because he - or she - knew what she was doing and was qualified to do it.

The fox followed along in the wake of the others, and soon enough had signed off on his equipment. With smooth, practiced motions he dressed in his well-worn yet reliable olive-drab suit of hardsuit armour. With a series of clicks and snaps, he attached the triple-barrelled minigun to it's mount, swinging out from his waist, and then hooked in the ammo belt. The grenade launcher over his shoulder was similarly connected, and then both weapons swung aside on their powered mounts, resting parallel to his back. His heavy-bladed kukri knife was on his back, easily drawn over one shoulder, with his regular knife on his chest, and the heavy caliber machine-pistol on his thigh. He had no doubt that the close confines of the tunnel system would require all of the weapons, should trouble be forthcoming, and that the sensors of his armour would come in useful too.
Fully clad and equipped with his weapons and other equipment and supplies, he tucked his helmet under one arm, and looked to the others, checking to see if they wanted any assistance, and how they were getting on, as well as being curious to see what equipment and skills they'd bring to the mission at hand.

*he looks around the armory for his bow and OpCam suit* C'mon, where are ya? *he looks around a bit longer* Oh, there they are. *he puts on the OpCam pants to start, they resemble simple dark grey cargo pants, the boots, resembling standard combat boots, and finally the jacket, it was a dark grey urban camo hooded jacket, once the set was complete, the suit was activated, Dubaku tested the cloak feature by flickering it on and off a few times* Oh yea, that's what I'm talkin' about. *he then takes his bow and arrows, then notices there is a variety of arrows on the wall, some of which he had never seen before* I guess a few more thermite tips wouldn't hurt. *he takes a few more thermite tip arrows, as well as standard impact arrows, he then finds his Kpinga hanging on the wall* Damn, I almost forgot you *he grabs his Kpinga off the wall and puts it in the holster on his back*

They continued walking up the hallways, taking twists and turns around every corner. After about 5 minutes of walking through what seemed like a maze, the guide stopped in front of a doorway, labelled "Armory". "So, I'll leave you guys here to get ready. Meet the captain outside of the bridge as soon as possible. Got that?" Before Antonia had time to answer, he turned around and practically sprinted away, through the twisting and turning hallways.

"Well..." She turned back to her group, and noticed that Dubaku and Blade had already entered the the Armory, they must be eager. She opened the door and looked around the room. The room was rectangular, the walls were lined with weapons and lockers, all full of equipment. There was an island in the middle of the room with all of their supplies gathered on it. Antonia walked up to the island and reviewed its contents.

"Seems like the techies got all my stuff together... at last..." Zian says to no-one in particular.

He quickly goes over his equipment, checking each piece meticulously.

His armour is neatly stalled on a nearby table, all the pieces laid down in their seperate patterns. He applies the light-carbon pieces to his body, checking straps and clicking magnetic pieces together so it all forms one whole suit of light, but still pretty stong armour plating. Only his head is unoccupied by carbon, instead counting on a  leather hood to cover these parts of his body.

Next is his implant. For security reasons, his implant was forced to deactivate, and the weak AI inside silenced. Now, with a brief electric shock, the implant comes to live, projecting its familiar bluish shine on his iris, creating a second reality next inside his own, combining real with virtual. His AI greets him silently, and then swiftly hacks into the onboard computersystems of the spacecraft. Without another message needed, Zian knows his companion will search the entire ship database for any information necessary for the completion of his mission, and download it if it is able.

His rifle is waiting for him as well, together with his handgun and his trusty old dagger. The rifle is a modern piece of art in his eyes, with a long barrel, a specialised stock and no scope. The entire aiming endeavour will go through his implant, which will support his actions and help him adjust to the wind, bullet-drop, everything necessary to place a bullet exactly in the right place.
The plasma-powered engine catapulting the shot away greatly enhances its range and stopping power, making it a deadly weapon at long range. His handgun is just a plain handgun used by most Alliance Infantry as a sidearm, and is nothing compared to the raw power of his rifle. However, it is useful when the enemy comes in a uncomfortable closeness to his being, and Zian is glad he has the gun on him, clipping it on his hip. His dagger he sticks in a compartment in his armour across his heart, in easy reach for a quick slash or stab.

Slamming a magazine into his rifle, he turns to his squadmates and says with a grin:

"Well, are we ready, or what?"
