Title: Computer "issue"
Post by: HankTOBA on April 22, 2014, 04:00:03 AM
So, my PC is being stupid. I share it with some one else (we have seperate accounts) so I don't know the whole story.
On Friday night the other user said that fire fox was not working so I just said use Crome. on Saturday I noticed my fire fox basically was shit and the computer in General was a bit sluggish.
Tonight the other user said that what ever they were using kept "crashing" and expected me to fix this problem. (So I am asking you guys as I am a computer GENIIUS  ;).  )
I almost gaurenty that it was something they did but they "did NOTHING" (they are the one who gets the viruses not me)
I ran 2 different virus scans and nothing came up.
This PC is custom built like 4 years ago, I had I built and don't know what is in it)

Can any one help?
I can't bring it in as I have $40 to my name and my ....needs new.... Broken.......danger..... :/

Run Malwarebytes, as I assume this is a Windows 7 machine. Also run CCleaner just to make sure nothing gets messed up.

Not only that, but also go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features and uninstall any programs that look fishy or you feel don't belong (Programs you don't know the use for)

For an added measure, you could also see what programs are running on startup to see if any of them are possible viruses. Do this by going to start -> run  then type in "MSCONFIG" and go to the startup tab and see if any suspicious programs are auto-starting up.

Combofix, Adw cleaner, and check for weird programs, like mypcbackup and Regclean pro. those are malware.

uninstall all the toolbars and any unimportant addons from all the browsers. 9 out of 10 times when some one complains to me something's wrong with there internet it's because of toolbars.
