It is 2:00 am and I just had a really bad nightmare about my past and now I can not get back to bed. I really do not know what to do because I have tried all of my normal stuff and it is not working. I am wide awake right now and I really need sleep. So if anyone has any ideas on ways to fall asleep please help old Maska Sigo out. This happens about 2-4 times a week.

If you can't go to sleep 2-4 nights a week because of a bad nightmare with a stressful event, it's possible you may be suffering from PTSD, in which case seeing a therapist is probably a good idea. Regardless the reason, not being able to sleep 2-4 times a week for 3 months counts as insomnia and so seeing a therapist about that anyway would be a good idea.
Anyway, here are my tips for getting to sleep.
1. Don't go on the computer, you're bored I know, but computing will just wake you up even more, so try not too.
2. A very hot shower can help make you sleep.
3. Relaxing activities and so forth can help
Other than that I'm not too sure, sleeping pills is a POSSIBLE alternative if it's really bad.

Thank you. I did see a therapist but I need a new one because the one I had wanted to lock me in an asylum for being a gay furry

Then that was a bad therapist, for a great person. I don't know a lot about helping to sleep except to listen to relaxing slow music. But I will pray for you maska, if you want, just think of a wonderful thought.

I finally fell asleep and a a bunch of jerks who live on my floor came in my room and woke me up for no reason... I was so upset I threw 5 pairs of shoes at them. that is after they pulled me out of bed onto the floor... I will never fall asleep.

Things just aren't going your way are they? Can your door lock or did they have a key?

Wouldn't matter, I'd assemble my redneck friends (I live in southern louisiana) and bust him out. That is illegal to my understanding. Even then, a judge would have to declare him unstable enough to be locked away. As for sleep, I'm an insomniac, so what helps me is usually drinking a cup of milk, and a melatonin tablet (the natural/ herbal dissolving tablets). I recommend taking the tablet an hour before 9 to establish a sleeping pattern, you your body can register the time as "go the f&$k to sleep time," as my father puts it.

well I cant even remember the last time I had a good night sleep

Always works for me to dot some Lavender oil onto the pillow.
I find it very soothing and helped me a lot when I was in Boarding School.
Alternative would be Lavender incense, but that can sometimes leave a foul smell afterwards.

Lavender does help a lot.
I use a lavender body wash. so that works but only if I take a shower before bed. normally I take one in the morning

Having trouble sleeping? That's something I know about all too well. Here are a couple of tips for you if you are having trouble getting to be on time:
1) When it's time for bed, turn everything off. This includes computer, cell phone, tablet, and any other electronic device that could distract you.
2) Take a warm shower, it will help relax your body.
3) Drink some warm water before bed as it will help relax your body from the inside as well.
4) Don't eat anything past 9 p.m. your time. If you do the chances of having indigestion, heartburn, or just general restlessness increase significantly according to my doctor.
5) Try and make your room as dark as possible. Close your curtains/blinds, all lights, doors if you need to keep other lights on.
6) Make sure your bed is comfortable. If something doesn't feel right, whether it be the room temperature, the lack of/too many blankets and pillows can also affect sleep patterns.
And this one is the most important one of all:
7) Try and go to bed at the same time EVERY night, if you can. This way your body gets used to it through repetition and you'll fall asleep naturally easier.
I hope this helps, and if not I wish you the best of luck finding a way to go to sleep :3.

You could try drinking warm drinks, that normally knocks me out, even coffee! XD
