Title: Non-English bands/songs
Post by: anoni on January 14, 2014, 10:04:25 AM
So, we love music, but there's a lot more music than just in the English speaking world. I'm sure many of you have come across non-English music you've liked, such as Rammstein, or some other ones. As well, I'm sure our non-native English speaker members would love to show off some of there local music, and you know what? I'd love to listen! So post your favourite non-English music here, but remember, keep your actual text (ie: If you're describing the song) in English!

One of my favourite bands, I stumbled on Turmion Katilot in a flash series called Bunnykill. It is probably one of my favourite bands and is Finnish I believe, I don't understand any of there lyrics but that doesn't stop there music from rocking!

I listen to a lot of pop in French and Latin reggaeton, these artists are rather current.
French pop is a lot like American pop, although there's a lot of voice and a bit more instrumental effort.... My favorite artists are Shy'm, Tal, and Zaho.
Shy'm and Tal could be compared roughly to artists like Rihanna, where Zaho has a lot of hip hop influence, so you could compare her strongly to Beyoncé.
Shy'm has a good song called "En Plein Coeur"(Roughly; Directly in the Heart)
There is also a really pretty album by Coeur de Pirate, and it sounds like the stereotypical "French music," although she's a Canadian folk artist.
Les amours dévouées(Roughly; "The Loyal Lovers"):
Les amours dévouées - Cœur de Pirate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUe6kduckos#ws)

In reggaeton, I'm really fond of Arcàngel, although he's a bit more pop than rap, which is common in reggaeton artist. A good song by him is "Yo Aqui Riendo"(Roughly; I'm Here, Laughing) or "Flow Violento," his sound is a bit darker than the rest, which I find quite nice.

These are all rather popular, so they shouldn't be too hard to find on YouTube, I was just too lazy to find the links(sorry!)

Anoni: The song you linked to is called "Butcher" xP

And some more music from the land of the silly creature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxN2la8LcRM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxN2la8LcRM)
I'm usually not that fond of finnish music, but when it's about "them great ancestors fighting evul enemus and bawbawbaw" it sounds pretty cute xP

I also like songs sung in Skyrim's dragon language, but I guess that's disqualified xD

Anyone heard of the band Runrig? They're a Scottish Celtic rock group that have been around since the 70's
Here's 2 of my favorites. The top one is much more rockish, but I prefer the second one:
Runrig- Engine room (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fRxbzeSbF8#)

Runrig & Paul Mounsey - An Toll Dubh (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4ElZ0Qu7lI#)

Anything by Rammstein. Don't know them? They're a German industrial metal band. Look them up.

Some of my favorite non-English music artists~~~

A French-Canadian pop-rock singer named Mathieu Lavoie (I've loved this guy ever since the dawn of time. Seriously)

Cirque du Soleil (their music is mostly in a made-up language but I love their shows so I love the hell out of their music)

A Russian classic metal band called Aria

A Russian folk rock band called Lubeh (sometimes called Lube or Lyube)

The Red Army Choir (of course)
