Where I grew up we had to use an electric well, solar water heating and when the power went out; a generator. Hehe, I do not miss those days even if not quiet on the level of using solar panels.

We used to be partially off grid. Then we had to move to the city.

My dream is to one day live off the grid and to be mainly self sufficient. It's hard work, but I believe that it really pays off in the end.

My fursona lives in a log cabin as a Mountain man/pioneer. But in reality iv always been interested in living off the grid myself but I have found that most alternatives to electricity are more expensive than just being hooked up.

Off the grid living would be amazing. Nice little place near the ocean. Your own greenhouse, keep a few egg hens and and some milk goats and go veggie. I could dig it.

It is really nice but I had no choice I was running from my family. But I will say nothing is better than eating what you hunted or grew

Dam, I didn't think anyone was going to reply to this.
I can't believe I forgot about this wachamathing!
It's kinda cool to hear what other people have done.
I sure wish I lived near the ocean, the only ocean I live by is one of snow!
3 feet of it last I checked, as much as the 7 months of snow SUCK hear in Manitoba, it my home and best of all land is dirt cheap!
In the spring I intend on adding another panel.

This might seem strange but I'm excited that I'll be able to spend a month in my fully off grid trailer. It is always a nice change being out there and not being in the city.

Legit igloo or Quincy?
I'm working on a quincy now, I need to make the pile bigger, it has 5 foot head room but is only 5x4 on the inside.
