Dunno if I can post this here, but I figured that it would be worth a try. Is there anyone else here that has yet to choose s species for their fursona?
I'm pretty new to the fandom, and I've yet to really feel a connection to one animal in particular. I really want to be something different and unique. Something you really don't see either very much of, or at all in the fandom.

I can relate to the feeling. I was around here for a few months without a fursona. I'd suggest you look around and learn about different sorts of animals and see what knowledge sticks with you. If there's a connection you might have a possible species!

I'm not so much deciding as confused. XD
I think I'm a dragon, but I don't have enough draconic traits to confidently say I am one!

Your fusonas physical appearance doesn't have enough traits to be a dragon?
Or your personality doesn't have enough traits to feel like a dragon suits you?

I understand that feeling and had the same pull, it was keeping me from feeling comfortable with any one fursona. A fursona is your own choice, however. There are no requirements or rules. It could be an animal you have a connection with, but it doesnt have to be. Many simply choose their favorite animal and just roll with it. Whatever makes you happy and you would want to be is what you should pick. I made it far more stressful than I needed to be.
You could have more than one too

I have never seen a Fox+Dragon before but you look awesome!

I used to be the same way when choosing my sona.
I actually used to be a Mongoose, then I just changed to Jackal but I liked the idea of my own species.
So I made the Longtail, a non-earth species that highly resembles a Jackal. But I AM part weasel, Long-Tailed Weasel to be exact.
In fact, I used to even be stuck on a name for my sona, so I changed The_Invisible_Mongoose into Tim!
Your own sona comes from you, and you don't have to get them figured in a week. You can take all the time you need to make one!

I'm warm-blooded, furry, and lactose-tolerant. What do you think I mean?

You don't need to match your fursona physically or emotionally - they are optional but not required. If you like dragons and want to be a dragon than you have all the right to be a dragon and be happy. Nobody is going to tell you you are wrong, same way nobody is going to tell you that your sexuality is wrong. What makes you YOU is personal and can't be dictated by others - your fursona is your sona, its you.
Be a dragon and don't let anything make you question that choice.

Jeez, I just meant I'm pretty far from your run-of-the-mill generic, reptilian dragon. XD

Being a therian kind of made things easy for me. I'm not really into animal roleplay as it's beyond my species, I wouldn't pretend to be a full human either unless the circumstances call it. I feel like I'm lying to myself as anything other than a foxy being.
