Title: Favourite Video Game Villain
Post by: anoni on July 12, 2013, 06:10:36 PM
To go along with my "Favour Weapon in Games" here is a new Favourite thread, MAYBE I'LL START A SERIES, OR MAYBE YOU WILL

Regardless, who is your favourite EVIL PERSON in gaming?

I really like Wesker

But I also prefer villain who are less, well, obviously evil.
So who did you have in mind?

Most definitely, GlaDOS from Portal/Portal 2.

The Joker in the Batman Arkham games is pretty excellent. I also liked Kessler in Infamous.

Ganondorf is a classic for anyone who grew up playing Zelda, and my favorite version of him was in Wind Waker.

for me it's really a tossup between GlaDOS and any villain from the Jak and Daxter games.

The Transcendent One! No one will get that reference, so I can also say the villain in Braid is pretty amazing too.

Can it be any bad guy, or does it have to be a primary antagonist/final boss?

I have to say that Dr Nefarious from the ratchet and clank series will always hold a special place in my heart  :P I also like Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2, and, while I guess they don't count as a single villain, Organization XIII from the Kingdom Hearts series.

It can be any bad guy, it's "Favourite Video Game Villain" which can be seen as any bad guy that stands out, not necessarily an antagonist :3

Vaas from Far Cry 3. Always Vaas.

So much so that I wish he would've been the "final battle" in the game. Hoyt just didn't match up at all.

I'm stuck between GLaDOS of Portal and Hazama of Blazblue.
They're both so awesome.

The Combine of Gmod.
They are the most organized bad-ass bad guys I've ever met.
You think there's only one to kill until you enter a building with one.
The Combine are technological geniuses & they are strategic and brilliant.
They have all kinds of weapons, vehicles, and semi-organic AI Systems. It's seriously Amazing.

Well... technically the Combine didn't come from Gmod. Gmod is just a modification of Half Life 2 where the combine came from.

GET READY FOR SOME BACKSTORY

After a theoretical physics organisation known as Black Mesa (which contained the famed Gordon Freeman) opened a portal to another border universe known as Xen, creatures from Xen began pouring in and causing a great disturbance. Xen was a border universe, a universe between universes, the creature of Xen fled to this border universe because of a terrifying race known simply as the Combine. Eventually the Combine discovered our universe and the advisors (the leaders and masterminds of the Combine) sought to destroy earth. The Combine is a race of other races that are mind controlled, so the advisors sought out earth to mind control other humans who became the combine soldiers you see in garrysmod. Genetically superior, with a mind of dedicated loyalty to their unforgiving masters, the combine lead the domination of earth and have repressed humanity years, not even allowing them to breed. The weaker people who were captured by the combine were turned into stalkers, their minds replaced with lasers as they work as the main engineers of the combine citadels and facilities.

I hope that cleared some stuff up!

Vaas is one evil son of a gun... So I'd say hes pretty high on my list.

You had me thinking back for quite a while at who my favorite villain was...

Because GLaDOS and Vaas are already taken, imma go with...

Bowser/Ganondorf

You know they must be doing their jobs right if they, ALWAYS capture the princess and ALWAYS leave the world in turmoil.
They even get away with it a few times and even if they don't, well guess who's coming back.

Having just finished FarCry 3, I have to say I actually found Vaas to be an underwhelming villain. At first, he was great. He was a dangerous and crazed personality with a flair for hurting people just for the theatricality of it. His capricious nature was terrifying. By the end of the game though, his writing had fallen flat and he was rather boring and trite. Honestly this is one of my few criticisms of the game.

Just throwing in my two cents.

I liked Vaas because he was crazy and insane, but more so because he SEEMED like he could predict the future. His words have a lot of power and his performance is truly amazing, even during the later scenes in the game I really liked him.

GLaDOS is hilarious, but IMO I don't really see her as a good "villain" cause she is just too quirky and sarcastic, not very evil or menacing. She's one of my favourite game characters but isn't, to me, a dramatic villain.

Ulysess from the Fallout games for me was a dramatic villain, one that wasn't so obviously evil, but one who was none the less powerful and an antagonist to you.l

Ulyesess had the benefit of making you wonder if he really was the villain or not.

As for common enemies, I like the Darknuts and Iron Knuckles in the Zelda games. Last Zelda game I played was Twilight Princess, and those knights in heavy armor were badass.

I'd like to say Helghast from Killzone, but since I never played those games I don't really know who they are or what their mission is. I just like their uniforms.

I played Killzone 1 and a bit of Killzone 2, I can say they are pretty good enemies! In Killzone 1 they were like normal NPCs, but one thing they did was throw lots of grenades, so when there was a whole lot of bots (you could have bots on MP maps and verse them with your friends) there'd be a lot of explosions and it would feel like you were in a full on warzone.

As well: Killzone - CGI Opening - Helghan Emperor Scolar Visari Speech - HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNAnplKWNrc#ws)

My favorite villain is probably myself in Fallout 3...
I was one evil son of a gun.

There's a lot of good baddies out there, it's hard for me to choose.
Even my favorite baddy wasn't quite as bad so much as he was crazy? But my favorite bad guy is probably Sander Cohen from Bioshock.

I know this is a really old topic, but I have to come out and say that 'Handsome Jack' from Borderlands 2 is an amazing villain. Like seriously; his character traits right from the get-go show that he's just a malicious, heartless dick with a wit sharper than a sword. He's a mastermind villain and controller of the Hyperion corporation that basically controls everything in the game and uses propaganda to get everyone to do what he wants.

Definitely Logan from Fable III. He initially seems like a run-of-the-mill "evil tyrant" or whatever, but the things that are revealed about him near the end of the game make you reconsider your whole cause, whether you should actually have done the things you did.
They make you realize his interests are entirely noble, and that's what makes him unique and interesting as an antagonist.

The Necromorphs from the Dead Space series are pretty cool, but I guess they're not really villains.
Gonna have to go for Comstock on this one.
