Starting my first fursuit...or what is it? I am not making the full thing. I read on here and other places that it's just too bloody hot and Dallas, TX is a killer in the Summer months x.x I ask what is it because the whole think to me is simply a fursuit. OR is it a full fursuit. I am just making the tail, hands, feet and head while I wear typical t-shirt and jeans. Would that make it a half fursuit?
Anyway, as the title states I am starting on my first fursuit(or half fursuit). I have been wanting to do it for a long time, but never found any really good tutorial videos on youtube until last night. I wrote everything down that I needed and I needed it ALL. I have a hot glue gun, but bought a low temp one anyway since the one I have gets hot as all hell. I bought the yarn, needle, thread, dog brush and I even bought a hair straightener. Yeah, I went through the self checkout lane. I already have long blonde hair and I didn't want any questions or odd looks after the hair straightener was scanned. :P
I'd like to share the video of the TAIL piece that I am going to tackle first. This girl said it took her 35-40hrs, but I am sure it will take me even longer, but I'd like to post my progress if anyone cares to see.

That's usually called a partial fursuit. Full fursuits include the body suit, partials are just the head/paws/tail worn with regular clothing.

I have about 3 total hours in so far and I have already gone through a wad....ball....sleeve of yarn.
The front are the measured strands, the middle are 3 strands tied together and the back are the brushed strands. Even though it is a little darker than I wanted, I really like how this color is turning out :)

Aha! ^^
Nice to see you're already working on it :)
Glad to see you're so motivated to make such a big and soft tail :D

OY!! It's been several weeks without an update. I have been working a LOT lately. At my job, not on the tail, but making these damn fluff parts for the tail fur were not a walk in the park either. The good news on that, though, is I have discovered faster ways of making the tail than what the girl is showing. For now I am estimating that the 'fluffs' were the hardest part. However, I have still not sewn them to the base of the tail and the relativity of difficulty might quickly change.
Anyway, I have the 'fluffs' finished. I used a total of 4 skeins(that's right I discovered the name of them). 3 for the main tail and 1(darker) for the tip. I would have liked Eon to be lighter, but after I started piling all the 'fluffs' together the more the Grey started to grow on me.
