Title: Favorite Words of Wisdom?
Post by: Drakos on May 23, 2013, 07:40:41 PM
Do any of you have any interesting or commonly used words of wisdom that have any sort of meaning to you? Why are they helpful to you (or in general)? Where or from who did you hear these words of wisdom?

E.g.: My mom always says to me "If you don't remember something it probably wasn't important enough to remember." And it's sort of true for me because most useless information that I don't feel I'll wind up needing in life I tend to forget about x3.

So yeah, what do YOU guys have? :3

<.< I grew up hearing a lot of quotes as a kid from my gandfather, which to this day I still use.

but one ecspecially was from a video game, and most will agree with me on this, In Dead Space 3 when you get to the heart of the planet, Issac Clarke said, "Good men mean well, they just don't always do well."

A quote I took pretty close to heart, and basically it is **censor** true. We may try to live a life without problems and do our best to do the right things, but like it or not things will get bad and most of the time we can't stop it, but just gotta keep at it no matter what. ^_^

Some words of wisdom are "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst"
My lecturer Richard Buckland said "When you become an expert on something, it's time to do something else"
My Mum and my mum's mum always says "In this world it's not what you know, it's who you know"

relationships are like shopping at the mall, you look through a storefront window and you think "hey that looks awesome, I want to go check it out!" and once you're inside at first it's awesome then you think, "eh, I'm kinda bored with this store, I've been at this store for two years, I wanna see other stores.."

Money can't buy you happiness... But it can buy you bacon and that's pretty much the same thing.

I just loved this! :)
From the lion king:

Simba: I know what I have to do. But going back means I'll have to face my past. I've been running from it for so long.
[Rafiki hits Simba on the head with his stick]
Simba: Ow! Jeez, what was that for?
Rafiki: It doesn't matter. It's in the past.
[laughs]
Simba: Yeah, but it still hurts.
Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the from way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it.
[swings his stick again at Simba, who ducks out of the way]
Rafiki: Ha. You see? So what are you going to do?

I found another one that interested me not too long ago. It's from the book The Life of Pi.

Annie: So you reconciled, that's very romantic, but she still killed herself. In the end she gave up.
Chris: There's nothing wrong with that
Annie: Her husband didn't think so
Chris: He was a coward! Being strong, not giving up. It was just his place to hide. He pushed away the pain so hard, he disconnected himself from the person he loved the most.
[Pause]
Chris: Sometimes when you win, you lose...

"It's hard to park a car on a curve, unless you're driving an orange."
My mother popped this out while I was attempting to park today. XD

And also my grandpa would always say: "Do good. But by chance you do bad, do it well."
