Title: Food on the trail
Post by: Hinoko on May 07, 2013, 08:40:55 PM
Well, my scout troop recently had a cook off to see who made the best trail food. I created what I call
"Troop Chop Suey" Mixing together SPAM, Vienna Sausage, and Chicken Ramen. It tasted alright but I was wondering if you guys had any recipes you wanted to share for when your out camping!
 ^_^

^Lol, where I come from, that's pretty much the norm, except that we'll add in an egg or two.

I was in the army before, and we had to do jungle training at one point. On the last day, we were given what we call our ''luxury food'' to cook as some sorta farewell to our jungle outfield course. We given lotsa stuff like instant noodles, scallops, ham, tomatoes, prawns, potatoes, hamburger patties...oh man I can go on  XD

I don't think we managed to concoct anything spectacular, but it was an amazing and surprisingly delicious mess. XD

I always loved making hobo packs while out camping! Take some aluminum foil and lay a tortilla inside. then fill it with whatever your fuzzy heart desires! It's been such a long time since I made one, but if I remember right, I would typically fill mine with some kind of pre-cooked ground meat, diced onions and bell peppers, corn, and potatoes. Then fold it up inside the tortilla and the foil, and place it on a couple of big logs on the fire. Flip it over after several minutes. Deeeeeeeeeee-freakin'-licious! :D

Oh yeah! We make those in The Scouts! :D  We call em foil packs, I usually end up eating the meat raw b4 cooking  XP  But after that i fill it with patatoes, beef, onions, pepper, garlic salt, butter [Oh my god i'm so friggin fat x3]

Wha?? You eat the meat raw? o.O Do be careful, please... And trust me, I may be skinny, but I have the stomach of a fat fox. XD At my favorite pizza place, my friends and I have had to stop pitching in to get a whole pizza, and instead just order however many individual slices we want, because I've been known to scarf down three or four slices before anyone else can even finish their first or second. >.>

I don't remember all the steps, but I put raw eggs, bacon, onion, and tomatoes in thick plastic bag, then (I think) cook it low enough to not melt the bag until you have the perfect plastic bag omelette. :3
