Hi everyone I'm kinda new to this whole furry thing but what inspired me is the song Dirty paws by of monsters and men. Looking for a friend to talk too. Also I'm a ginger so any suggestions for a better avatar or furry descriptions would be great! Looking forward to meeting new furries :)

Hey, welcome to the forums and fandom ^^
I'm always open for a talk, so just drop by and send me a PM (:
As for a new avatar, you can check the art section if anyone would be willing to draw you one for free or you could look for someone to commission. You can also post a topic there about what you want and if anyone is willing to draw for you ^^
Hope this helped and hope you enjoy your time here,
Ventus :)

Hey welcome to the forum!
What are some of your interests?
-
Welcome to where everyone's head is an animal.
I'm sure you'll find this place as homely as you do your home.
-
One of my main interests is camping. I also plan to be a vet.
-
Ah, camping was never really my forte but after having gone only three times and suffered miserably with the company I was in, I guess I can see why some people like it after the tent is set up.
What do you like so much about camping? It is the nature or the activity?
When I went camping all I found were people who looked like they'd rather be somewhere else. The only people I see having fun are the kids and the old dudes who like to fish.
-
My favorite part is the nature and getting away from civilization. However sometimes the people I go with ruins the whole experience but they can also make it worthwhile. Sometimes I'll find myself walking off a trail with a chair as far as I can get away from other people without getting lost of course :) then I just sit out there for a half an hour to the whole day just listening to how beautiful nature is. The next time you go camping try it you forget all the cares you had in a civilized stressful world.
I swear I'm not a hippie ^_^
-
What you are saying resonates with me on so many levels :D
Though I don't go camping I do stroll out as far as I can into the nearby woods and then just "be" where no sounds of cars and people can be heard. It's a really good way to clean yourself from worries and problems even if just for that moment.
Swear, totally not a hippie ^_^

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who enjoys nature

Welcome to the forum!
So you'd like to be a vet? That's what my mate is trying to do, actually. Would your focus be on large animals or small ones?
-
Small big animal practices get a little to messy for me :|
-
Ah, I see. ^^ Small animal practice is also more profitable. When I was considering being a vet, I planned on working on large animals, specifically cattle. Now I'm a sociology and criminal justice double major and plan on being a professor and doing research, which is definitely much more suited to my skills.
-
Good job I could never do a double major in those. They are really hard majors aren't they.
-
Thanks! I don't really find them difficult. Mostly, I just find the subjects to be interesting. However, someone who is not the best at understanding theoretical concepts or someone whose strong suit is not writing would probably have a hard time.
-
Yep that's me I'm not strong in writing at all
-
Yeah, that's understandable. Writing certainly isn't easy for everyone. It comes pretty naturally for me, though. So, considering what you want to do, I'm guessing you're pretty good with math and science, huh? ^^
-
Yep ^_^ I went and did a vet job shadow recently too and loved it
-
Awesome! My mate job shadowed at an emergency vet clinic once, she said it was a really great experience. I wish you luck with all of your vetting endeavors! ^^ Any idea what vet school you would like to attend? There are only 28 in the US that I know of, so not very much to choose from for sure. ^^;

Michigan state probably
