Despite my obvious bias towards Pokemon, I'm also a fan of various other monster collecting games such as Monster Rancher, Azure Dreams, and Dragon Warrior Monsters. For all its popularity, Pokemon has missed out on a lot of the fantastic mechanics and quirks that defined these games for me and made them memorable.
Anyone else familiar with them?
