Eithen, one of the eastern cities nearest the dark hole, was bustling. Yes, it was closest out of all the cities, however there was still a large amount of land and jungle spirits in the way, so life seemed to be continuing as normal, with only the slightest edge of uneasiness in the air. Eithen was mainly a trading city, however it also had a small-ish religion based around the spirit, a nice old creature who was slow to anger, and quite charismatic, however he wasn't all that good regarding combat, heroes were hired for that job, they were also hired to drive away the wild ones which had been becoming somewhat more vicious lately. Most people believe this was the work of The Torturer and the dark ones.
Tetron was in the stream fo people entering and leaving Eithen, walking down the dry dirt road, which was partially defiled by vines of wild ones. A constant spray of water was leaving the volcano-like funnel on his back, and he was wearing some simple pieces of clothing made from a blue cloth. He was taller than most of the people, rising out of the crowd like a muddy pillar, although even then he didn't stand out that much, he was just to earthy and dull-coloured to stand out from some of the richest, fattest merchants, athough that wasn't necissarily a disadvantage.
He walks through the gates, taking in the smells, making sure to stay near the small-ish merchant group he was protecting, not because he feared they would be attacked, because he expected the to run away without paying. Merchants were often weaselly like that. His liquid eyes passed over the wares of the stalls, his fishing spear buing held like a walking stick, the shiny blade pointing into the air. He glanced up at the sun, and muttered "Its too hot here", a phrase which he has, to be honest, used far too much.
Tetron decides not to waste any more time and puts his large hand on the nearest Merchants shoulder "You're going to pay me now" he says with a fairly normal voice, possibly a little deeper than normal. The red and orange dressed Merchanct sighs, beat, and puts a gold coin into Tetrons hand "There" he muttered bitterly, before slipping off. Tetron would have made a smug face then, if he had a face, alas, he only had a few eyes, which weren't really the most expressive things ever, especially since they only looked like spheres of water.
He rolls his shoulders, feeling the water within him splash around a little, and looks about again. Down the street, in the town centre, he saw a plinth, which Chakrell - the spirit of this city was on, standing like a majestic statue. Tetron rolled his eyes, some of the spirits here were utterly crazy, and appeared to have no skills, however that wasn't important at the moment. A species of fish in his river had been dying out, and he needed to refill the population. The incredible 'bounce-backs' of some creatures wasn't always caused by excessive breeding! He began searching for a feral store.

Life again. Waking up from a dream that had lasted centuries. A hazy existence of light and feelings, thrown harshly back into a world of conscious thought and a corporeal body. Katka opened her eyes slowly, darkness all around as she hung suspended and weightless. A single point of crystalline light floated above, growing and expanding - a rushing feeling of movement, pulled upwards faster and faster the light filled her vision until it was all she could see. Her lungs hurt, hot pain flaring in her sides, mind reeling and spinning, thoughts bursting into consciousness and all the while one voice rose above the others. "BREATH AGAIN, MY CHILD"
Water poured in, cold and crystal clear. It filled her lungs as she opened her mouth and gasped. Pushing herself upright, coughing and spluttering she breathed in lungfuls of air, sweet and clear as water poured over her. Katka groaned, spitting water from her mouth as her chest heaved and the pain in her sides receded. Around her a calm pool of clear water stretched away to sloping banks of grass. Dragonflies and other winged insects flitted over the surface of the water, the blue flash of diving bird near the bank, fish swam lazily in the depth their scales reflecting the warm wash of sunlight. A line of willow trees hung their weeping branches over the waters and somewhere in the distance a stream babbled. From where she lay ripples ran over the clear surface of the pool as she slowly stood to her feet. Water dripped down her bare fur and under her paws smooth round pebbles and stones clattered and slid over each other. Staring around with the amazement of a newborn child she waded slowly out towards the trees.

(ok... still thinking of the name, so i'm going to just blank it out and fill it in once I've got one)
***** had woken up with a scream stuck in his throat. It wasn't abnormal.... he normally woke up like that. The nightmares just never seemed to stop, not even after a good day. Sighing, the crat rubbed his left eye, still unsure whether it was corpreal or a creation of magic, as he looked around the forest. "Just another normal day... for now," he said to himself, half-hoping that something bad would happen so that he'd have something to do besides watch nature take its course. Not that that was boring... ***** frankly enjoyed watching a bird build its nest or observing a bear as it disemboweled its prey. But sometimes you just get that feeling that makes you want to do something nasty to somebody really bad, and he'd had that feeling for a few days now ever since he left the last town. Sighing and folding his wings across his back, he leapt from tree to tree, heading for the pool that he had sensed was nearby. Not that anyone would be there...
Landing at last on a nearby birch, ***** was a bit startled when he realized that somebody was actually there. "What...?" He shook his head and looked again, unsure if the figure was still there. Sure enough, there was a person standing right in the middle of the pool. Unsure whether or not he should approach her, ***** simply hopped into a closer tree and watched as the girl - for the figure was female- began walking through the forest. Curious, he followed her silently, still a bit unsure about approaching her directly.

Tetron sighed, a gout of steam releasing from his main vent. He had gone over to Chakrell to ask if his city had a feral store which sold fish. It didn't. He was pacing angrily down the street, furries moving to get out of his way. Tetron twirled his fishing spear in a showy fashion, causing a young male lizardman to leap out of the way. A dissatisfied hiss went his way, and Tetron muttered something negative back at him.
Leaving the city, he searched the ley of the land. It wasn't his own however, so he had limited visibility regarding the natural landmarks. There was a large body of water nearby however - a lake. "I hope there are some of those fish in there" he though to himself, using his spear much like a walking stick. As he walked in the direction of the area, his eyes narrowed, searching out for any wild ones. Much like the guardians, there could be strange wild ones around these parts, far removed from the more tame spirits back in the western lands. They were mosly owned by paladins however, and it was dangerous for creatures like h to go there. not to mention, the shortest route was blocked by a chain of dark lands...
As his feet paced over unknown ground, his eyes noticed the change in flora, the solid, tall trees being replaced by feebler willow trees, their long thin branches dancing in the air, each like a large stand of fur. He felt the water close by, and his eyes met with those of tree spirits. They were weaklings, however they helped to keep the land alive... He reached the edge of the clearing, spotting two figures. He stayed within the trees, his muddy brown body hiding him well.
-
Water dripped from her bare fur as Katka climbed up the bank. She stood still, shivering slightly as the water slowly fell with a constant drip from the end of her tail and whiskers. It was only now she noticed the cloak around her, the only piece of clothing she had besides the strange organic bindings around her ankles and wrists, the cloak seemed to have already dried; warm and soft to the touch. Pulling the muted green garment around herself she started to walk.
Her footsteps barely made a sound as Katka padded slowly between the trees, grass rustling under her bare paws. She walked slowly, not knowing where she was going, only walking because that felt like the right thing to do. As she walked her ears flicked at every sound, her eyes wide and taking in every tiny detail, every blade of grass and every scurrying of a small animal.
Not far from the pool a large oak grew, towering over the willows and birch trees around it. Slowly Katka made her way towards the great bowed trunk of the oak, fallen leaves rustling underfoot as she walked below the great canopy of branches. A clearing devoid of undergrowth and other trees spread out underneath the large tree. It was here that she heard the voice, silky and echoing in her mind like an unwanted thought. "You are being watched..." She stopped suddenly, glancing around nervously from tree to tree. The voice, while in her thoughts, seemed to emanate from the obsidian shard around her neck...
-
Ash raised an eyebrow as the girl looked from side to side, clutching at something at her chest. He stayed still, allowing nature to become his cloak. As for the dagger part... well, she didn't seem evil, so he hoped it wouldn't come to that.... "Well... the day just got more interesting," he thought to himself. "You asked for it, man..."
-
On the rocky outcrop that was his home, Jormungdang waited with anticipation. Battle-trained nerves screamed that somewhere nearby, something wasn't right. "This really sets my teeth on edge. I should get back to the forge, maybe the laborious work would ease my mind." As he walked past his favorite sword, it started keening as if in pain. Cursed though he was, he had kept it and named it "the Mourning Sword". Using the vibrations as a tracking device, he donned his favorite armor and continued toward the site that made the sword cry.
-
Tetron muttered something negative, and possibly obscene. This wasn't fishing, he had no reason to hide... "Ho there!" He yelled, waving a large muddy arm grasping a well built, and rather thick fishing spear. He focused on the lone figure, moving forward, occasionally looking round, forever wary of the other spirits here. As he already knew: The wild ones in the east could be just as crazy as the guardians. His muddy body shifted constantly, swirls occasionally becoming a swimming fish, or a scuttling crab.
He paused close to the oak, vent still spraying out vapour. He gazed at the definitely-spirit creature before the tree, and his three emotionless eyes focused in a more disconcerting way than real eyes can. He took in her whole body in a scientific manner - he cared little about the biology of flesh beasts - his gaze focusing on the amulet around her neck. He glanced at the oak and said "Careful, the big trees are usually home to upstart little spirits who would do well to deserve a smack in the face*". He would have grinned slightly if he had a mouth, and looked at the unknown spirits' female face.
*If they had faces, some didn't.
-
Katka jumped slightly, tail twitching, dry leaves rustled underfoot as she took several hasty steps back from the towering creature of earth and water. Around her neck the obsidian shard grew colder. An icy chill briefly spread across her chest, even through her thick fur, as the dark voice rose in her mind again. This time accompanied by a silky laugh. "You seee... I would not lie to you. But do not worry child, this spirit bears you no ill." Katka paused and stopped her retreat, one paw moving to cover her chest and gripped the pendant tight in her fist. She stared up at Tetron with wide emerald eyes.
She stood still while he spoke, seemingly uncaring for his emotionless scrutiny of her body, though she drew the leafed cloak closer around herself. Following his eyes to the bowed oak and then back, after a moment she cleared her throat. "What... Are you?" Her voice was hushed, though level and calm as she returned Tetron's steady gaze. Tentatively she stepped forward, bare feet stepping carefully through the bed of dead leaves, she ducked to one side slightly, snatching glimpses of the large spirit from all sides like an animal approaching an object for the first time.
Slowly Katka reached out a hand, curiosity clearly gaining the upper hand as she moved to touch the surface of the spirit, wanting to feel that shifting movement of earth and water. "No!... Do not touch him!"Her hand drew back as if scolded and her fist tightened around the obsidian shard at her neck. The voice whispered again. "There is still another watching... Also I feel something else in this clearing."
-
"What the hell am i doing? Since when did i care about others? Persecution is all I can expect from them with this damn curse." Yet something drew him still, ever closer to the site the sword had sensed. He climbed a tree and stopped, searching for the disturbance. "Heh, it's probably nothing." Then he caught sight of two figures standing in a clearing nearby. One was clearly a spirit made of flowing earth and water. The other, however, he couldn't recognize. He debated for a moment and then climbed down the tree, heading toward the clearing. "I should investigate. The sword has never cried this loudly before."
-
Ash watched curiously as the woman talked to Tetron, who he had seen around a few times before, and listened to their conversation. "Very interesting..." he thought to himself. "Another spirit... but why wasn't she..." He pricked his ears up and looked towards another path into the clearing. "Someone's coming..." Moving carefully, he took out a few throwing knives and loosened his returning dagger in its sheath, and pulled his hatchet from its holster.
You never know....
-
Tetron trinked* at the sudden pull back "There's nothing wrong with poking me!" He said, smiling (inside). He looked about slowly as the image of a fish passed over his face, a flickering silver thing being visible behind his eyes. After a tad extra thinking, he realized he had been asked a question "I am Tetron" He spoke "Patron spirit of the river Tohek, I am here to collect fish for my river" He added. He was in unknown terrirory (For himself, at least) and could only detect life. The girl before him appeared to almost have two lives, both near her heart... He also detected plenty in the trees, one NOT being a spirit.
He turned in the vauge direction of where he belived the life originated from, and bellowed: "HO THERE! WHO HIDES IN THE FOREST!?" He glanced back at the spirit near him and examined her necklace from a distance. "By the way." He began tactfully "Would you prefer to talk to my three eyes? Or an actual face?" He thought for a moment, then added, almost incomprehendably "Alsowhatsthatpendantaroundyourneckfor?" He didn't want to seem rude, after all...
* A trink is like blinking, but with three eyes. Creatures with two eyes find it utterly impossible to do.
-
From further down the path, Jormungdang heard a voice calling "Who hides in the forest?!" and quickened his pace. He placed his sword back into it's sheathe to stop its cries and crept into a ditch, close to the clearing. He then stepped out into the clearing, keeping one hand on his sword's handle and another on his seal. He would prefer not to need to use his powers or his Fallen form as it would alert every spirit within a mile to his presence ,and some of them weren't friendly. "I could ask you the same thing. Who are you and where are you from?"
-
Katka watched Tetron with wide-eyed curiosity, she shook her head slightly, tail swishing through the dead leaf litter. "Patron spirit?..." She kept the soft leaf-like cloak pulled around her with one hand, the other at her chest clutched the obsidian shard in her fist as she glanced furtively over the little details in Teron's form. Her voice was still hushed as he turned to the line of trees and bellowed, flinching slightly as she muttered "...That surely raises more questions than it answers."
Tail swishing in a distracted manner Katka cocked her head to one side slightly, glanced up at Tetron and raised an eyebrow. "You mean you can choose your face at a whim?" She took a tentative step closer, curiosity once again driving her actions. When the pendant was mentioned, though it took her a moment to decipher it from the stream of words the large spirit had issued, she frowned, glanced down at her fist clenched over her chest. Slowly she opened her fingers slightly, the shard cold and smooth in her palm as she held it up off her fur. "What... this?" She stared at the pendant with a perplexed look, her voice faltering. "It... I-"
"The pendant is just a trinket... You do not remember how you acquired it, you remember nothing after all.... Trust me..." The voice rose silky and smooth like a snake from grass as Jormungdang stepped into the clearing. With it Katka's frown deepened, and she stared at the obsidian, fixated as she slowly spoke. "I... Don't remember.... I can't remember anything, since waking in that pool. Just a trinket, I think..." She glanced back up at Tetron, her brow smoothing and a slight smile twitching in the corner of mouth as she watched the new stranger approach. She muttered bashfully with a childish grin "Why would one need to collect fish? Surely they swim where they are needed, and don't where they are not... That is the way of fish, I would presume."
-
Jormundang heard the snippit of conversation that the girl had just spoken, "Collecting fish, what the heck?" he thought. They seem friendly enough, but you can never tell. Nevertheless, I'll introduce myself to them. "My name is Jormungdang, what's yours?" directing the question to both the earthen-water spirit and the girl.
-
Tetron chuckled, thime to show off his party trick... "Not precisely" He said, "I do have quite a variety of faces though...". Another silvery shape stopped behind his eyes, and this time didn't move. Tetron's eyes expanded, merging with each other until a circle looking a bit like a divers mask was formed. There was a fish behind it. "Hallo" Spoke tetron, the mouth of the fish moving awkwardly to speak the words "I am in the body of this fish". The fish waved a fin, then swam in a small circle, before looking back at her, water extending out so he could swim forward and utilise perphiral vision (Or binocular vision in this case).
He made a small face, and said "The problem with this, is that its very difficult to use both the fish body, and my own body..." The fish strained a bit, causing one of Tetron's arms to move slightly "Very difficult indeed..." he repeated, trailing off into his own thoughts.
After hearing the explination of the trinket, and not being the most impressed fish/spirit in the world he thought of going down a sarcastic route. He then decided to go against it, that would be a bit mean. There was something strange to her though, he could detect more than one life. Maybe not two exactly, but one and a half at least. At her final statement, he shrugged, or tried to, the overall effect caused him to move backwards a bit. "Fish are dying in my river, I'm helping them along, you are a more powerful wild one if you help your land more" He shrugged again, moving back further, paddling slightly to get back into position. "At, least, I think it does" He said decidedly.
-
Ash watched with interest, putting his knives away but keeping his hatchet in his hand. "Three spirits in one place..." he thought to himself. "Not something you see everyday.... Well, no reason to get involved as of yet..." Staying quiet, he watched on, not wishing to disturb their conversation... oftentimes, being silent and keeping an open ear was the best way to find out information.
And then he heard another voice from inside the girl.
"What the...?!" he thought to himself. It wasn't that he heard anything... but... she wasn't alone in there. He could sense that much.
-
Katka watched the display put on by the river spirit with avid curiosity, stepping slowly closer she cocked her head to one side as his face reformed. By the time Tetron started to speak again through the mouth of the fish she stood right up beside him, tail swishing cautiously, she raised a questioning eyebrow and stared at the tiny flitting fish. "So... this is what it means to be a... Spirit, was it?" She frowned, reached out a paw to his great muddy side, flinching slightly before finally letting her fingers touch the surface. Still frowning she pulled her paw back, rubbing the mud and silt between her fingers. "Strange... and what is a wild one, Is that a Spirit as well? How come you stay in one piece when you are clearly naught but mud and water?"
As Jormungdang stepped forward to introduce himself Katka's ear flicked, a pained look in her eyes. "Another watches us... But he is not important... I feel... Something... Something is getting closer, the earth itself... Sooner than I expected... How much can they know..." Her ears flicked again as the voice slithered through her mind, devolving into muttering and hissed words. She pushed it away, forgotten at once, and glanced across to Jormundang with an equally curious look as the once she had given Tetron. She stepped back from the river spirit and pulled the cloak tighter around her shoulders. "I... My name..." A light breeze rustled the leaves underfoot, blowing over her bare grey fur, and the bows of the great oak overhead creaked. Katka frowned, shivering slightly before continuing. "My name is Katka... I think."
-
"Katka...That's a nice name. So, some journey brought you here perhaps?" Jormungdang asked. Finally relaxing, he let go of the manacle seal, but did not remove his hand from his sword. "As for a wild one, you're looking at one. My domain is further up in the mountains, but something drew me here, and led me to you."
-
Tetron's fishy body smirked, or at least attempted it... It was a pretty good attempt... for a fish. "I really depends on each spirit, but the overall concept is the same: Look after your land and it looks after you, right?" He rolled and the fish was released, his face going back to normal. In response to her second question, his vast shoulders shrugged "No-one's really looked into it" he admitted "May just be residual magic of the land causing the land to get up and start thinking about things." He shrugged again, how spirits existed was a bit of a mystery to him. "Oh, uhh... Wild ones are the name spirits picked up if they don't protect a village, ones that do are Guardians, y'know, like Axoth" Surely she would no who Axoth was. EVERYONE knew who Axoth was...At least he thought.
He was still unnerved by the 'trinket' however decided not to pass another comment, still, he could detect... Things. He turned to Jormungdang, only just noticing him, and waved a thick earthy hand "I am Tetron" He said to Jormungdang, shifting slightly. He could feel a sort of normal-ish life hiding in the forest, among the trees, however there was something much more powerful beneath him. He wasn't sure that he wanted to know what it was. He readied his spear, and the ground around him cracked somewhat "Do either of you..." He spoke slowly "Feel something in the earth?" he finished, pointing his spear beneath him.
[/color]
-
"Yes, and whatever it is, it's big. Extremely big and I don't like it." Jormungdang readies his blade and plaes his left hand on the manacle again, wary now of a possibly hostile being. As he draws the blade, it starts screaming shrilly. "Ok, now I know it's hostile." Looking around, he prepares for an attack.
-
Ash heard the sounds coming from below and immediately tensed up. "This one's mad.... very mad... but why?" he thought, gripping the handle of his hatchet tightly. "Normally they're docile unless... oh, SHITE..." The crat shivered slightly and put away the hatchet, drawing his dagger. "Curse them.... harming such an innocent creature and filling it with their ideals...." He growled mentally and prepared for the oncoming fight.
(Ideas >->)
-
A small frown wrinkled Katka's brow as she listened to Tetron's explanation, her tail swishing over the dead leaves. With a huffed sigh she rubbed her thumb and finger together, flicked the sticky mixture of mud and silt away and wiped a paw on her bare thigh. "However this works it's strange... And who is this Axoth, another spirit like you?" Katka glanced between Tetron and Jormungdan, her ears flat back against her head shyly, feeling somehow like she knew the answers to these questions already but they were just... out of reach... her head hurt when she tried to think about it and the voice, it still-
"They are coming for you child..." Katka's ears pricked up and her breath caught in her throat, fingers clenching around the obsidian pendant at her neck as the ground underneath cracked and shook. "Sooner than I thought... Get ready to run... you must trust me... Overhead the oak creaked and, almost silently, something rustled through the dead leaves underfoot.
-
"Anyone else hear that?" Jormungdang asked "Cause if it was what I think it was, we are about to have a very unhappy visitor." He then whispers "I guess I have no choice. Blood Fines!" and blood starts to seep from his body, while a blood-red energy vortex crackles around him. "Hahaha, Come and die. It'll only hurt a little bit, not!"
-
The plants began to die, the smaller ones shrivelling, while the larger ones put up a fight, twisting and deforming only on the exterior. A sizable portion of fish in the lake died, and all the animals nearby felt the primal instinct to run. Tetron noticed the ground beneath him bubbling, then looked at Jormundang, nervously. "I believe whatever that is could probably withstand your abilities easily enough..." He winced at the fish dying and moved his spear to a well-trained one-handed grip, still staring at the ground.
At the climax of the mass-destruction of the surrounding wildlife, a colossal grey worm burst from the ground, wider than Tetron was tall, and trailing wispy shadows. The ground went black and rocky around the hole it was rushing out of, and when (possibly) half of it was through, the head arced. It had no eyes, however seemed to be able to stare directly into the faces of the whole group simultaneously. I was that kind of look which could only be matched by the best starers*.
It let out a piercing screech, that even tetron flinched at, and protected its body near the ground by summoning a number of sharp black spikes out of the ground. In retaliation, the ground around Tetron cracked with internal liquid-based pressure building up. His humble spear had metaphorhosed into a masterful rendition of it, the shaft being made of coral and the blade being silvery, almost rippling. "That..." he said slowly "Is a Wild one gone bad. They're called dark ones.". He shifted into a defensive stance.
*Yes, I mean on par with Granny Weatherwax and The Luggage.
-
Meanwhile, in the tree, Ash checked all of his weapons over to make sure they were easily accessed. As far as he knew, a dark one had never ventured this far into the forest... so why now? Thinking about it, the cat decided that it had something to do with the girl... Katka, he remembered she was called. Tensing up, his check of arms done, he prepared to help the spirits in their fight.
-
"Don't worry. I could probably win with my full power, however I would be seriously wounded and exhausted." Jormungdang replied. Inwardly, he thought "Especially if I released the darkness in me. However, It would be risky as I would suffer compounded blood loss and extreme exhaustion. Best not to chance it as I still don't trust them entirely." Glancing toward tetron, he asked "What do you think of those dark spikes? Are they merely a shield or a form of projectiles?"
-
If death of the fish in the lake nearby caused Tetron to wince, it was nothing as to the pain that flared through Katka as the plants all around shriveled and died. She retched, collapsed onto her hands and knees, the ground spinning under her paws as the great worm rose into the air with a rumble of broken earth. Coughing and retching she rolled onto her side, pain lancing through her mind and prickling over her skin, breath panting and labored as she shivered and clenched her eyes shut.
"Death... You can feel it can't you..." The voice slid in and out of her mind, a ringing in her ears drowned out only by those silky words, creeping through her thoughts, watching her curl up and retch on the leaf-littered ground. Above her she could sense the blurred mass of Tetron and Jormundang, but they were nothing compared to the heart-wrenching pain of the trees and the plants shriveling away around her. Slowly she pushed herself back onto her hands and knees, wiped tears out of her eyes with the back of one paw.
And then the towering beast screamed. Its piercing screech tore through Katka's already shaking body, sent her reeling. "I told you... Run!" Her feet hit the ground running before she even realized what was happening, as the voice hissed through the echoes of that shrill screech. Leaves flew up around her and branches whipped at her legs as she ran blindly, tears in her eyes and lungs burning already from the exertion as her mind reeled in panic.
She didn't make it far however. Near the edge of the clearing a sound like the lash of a whip cracked through the air and long brown roots burst from the ground. With a crack they lashed to the bindings at her arms. She hit the ground hard, pain flaring in her shoulder as the long roots pulled hard against her arm. Even as she struggled to her feet another root burst forth, whipped around the bindings at her ankles, while another snaked out from under the leaves. In her mind the voice thrashed and hissed as though it was the one bound by the roots, and it screamed with the panic of a wild animal, thrashing madly "No! They cannot trap me again... Not this time... Run... I said RUN!"
-
Ash tensed up. Alright.... now would be a good time! he thought, leaping out of the tree and landing near Katka. Taking out his hatchet, he slashed through the roots. "Go!" he yelled at Katka, looking back at the creature. Taking out a few shuriken, he quickly tossed them at the beast while running left, not really aiming as much as trying to distract it away from the female spirit.
-
The worm was stabbed by the shuriken. They did nothing*, not even producing blood. It swivelled towards Tetron, and a spike flew out of its mouth, the impaling weapon was made of a solid form of darkness, and travelled the distance almost instantaneously. The colossal mouth of the grey monster turned to Jormundang, black teeth cascading across a slightly less dark inside. Shadows swirled about the worm and licked at it. The spikey shards of black material around its base began growing, slowly encasing the worm's long and huge body.
Tetron stared at suprise at the spike going through him. The water within him became tainted, the fish within dying. A blackness also spread across the mud around the spike, and he convulsed as his life force was tainted. Luckily for him, the build-up of magic he had produced released itself in a powerful torrent which blew the tainted shard, and part of his body, asunder.
His cloth markings were soggy and in tatters, barely visible at all. A few glittering lights rested within his liquid body near to the corpses of the sea creatures. Parts of his muddy body were still there, mostly collecting around the face, funnel area and hands. His face seemed more emotionless than it was, and he lifted his spear up, still the coral beauty, and threw it at the worm. He saw within himself, his personality and emotions were dead. It had to be fixed - so - like a shepard with his flock, he directed the spirits of the water creatures back into their respective bodies.
His spear span slightly as it sailed through the air, cutting a ragged hole in the worm. It looked small compared to the rest of the body, and the blade landed in the water behind the worm, cutting through without a splash. The wound wasn't bleeding, similar to the hits by the shuriken, however that rarely means anything when you are talking about a spirit's battle.**
* Well, superficially. Spirits are composed of controlled energy rather than flesh and blood in most cases (Although there are some deviants). The shurikens impacting were small, light and not enchanted in any way. A tiny amount of the energy was lost from the damage, but it wouldn't affect the worm at all.
** Tetron's spear is part of him, it is an enchanted weapon, and with his (Albeit, somewhat lessened, yet still formidable) strength behind it, the worm would have lost more energy from that attack. Nothing is coming out because the worm is hollow.***
*** Sort of, its a big long tube filled with writhing shadows that tear the energy out of whatever unfortunate creaure is pulled into the worm. The worthless (Yet cosmetically, completely the same as before consumption) is churned out the back, the body doesn't rot, instead, it just fades away.
-
"Well, that can't be good." Jormungdang saw the mouth of the creature turn towards him, and he quickly rolled out of the way. Daubing his blade in the blood collected in his hand, he then swung his sword in a vertical arc causing a blade of blood to fly towards the worm. The blade caused a severe gash along its length, however the worm failed to bleed yet again. "It seems to me that we should incapacitate the creature, by cutting it into sections, before attempting to kill it." Jormungdang said.
-
A loud screeching emitted from the roots as Ash hacked through them, thick brown tendrils writhing, the ends that had latched to Katka's wrist bindings shriveling away into nothingness. Katka slowly got back to her feet, rubbing at her wrists as Ash ran past. For a moment she stood still and silent, watching the great worm-like form of the dark one rise above and skewer Tetron, impassively as though unsure whether to register what was happening. "What are you doing? I said RUN!"
With the harsh hiss of the voice in her mind she stumbled and broke into a run again, directly away from the worm as more vines burst out of the blackened ground. This time however she was faster, a force of will pushing her to run and jink from side to side as the roots whipped and lashed after her. The voice was gone but its fear lingered in her mind, forcing her to run faster, her mind nothing but a dark panic that washed through her as she passed the ring of trees that marked the edge of the clearing they were in.
With a lash like a whip another root caught her around the ankle and brought her crashing to the ground, coughing and spluttering in the dead leaves and dirt. Roots drew in like a cage, twining to the bindings at her arms and legs and finally lashing to the root-like choker around her neck. Yelling she arched her back, pulling against the roots as they dragged her down against the earth, thrashing and pulling but to no avail. In her mind the dark voice thrashed and yelled with her, roaring in anger, seething fury overwhelmed her mind. "no.... NO! I WILL NOT BE BROUGHT DOWN AGAIN... BY SUCH LOWLY SERVANTS OF THE FOREST!" The anger poured out of the obsidian shard around her neck, expending itself as a scythe of pure darkness that tore through the roots leaving them smoking and dead, smashing Katka down against the ground with a crack as her vision went black and the sound of the battle with the worm faded away.

Ash stared for a second at the frightening darkness, then snapped back into the present and acted quickly, running forward and scooping Katka up, then dashing up a tree and placing her in a simple niche where she would be safe. Turning quickly, he landed on the ground and started hacking at the beast.

Jormungdang noticed a figure pick up Katka, move her and return to hack at the creature. "Oi! How's she doing?" he called out. Then his attention turned back to the creature and he fired off another blood blade, creating another deep gash in its body. He then rolled to a different location, wary of the creature's projectile attack. "That looks like it would hurt, judging by the state of our watery friend" he thought.
-
"Now is not the time to ask me that!" Ash yelled at the spirit as he dodged another projectile. Moving quickly , he ran forward and jumped over the monster's head onto its back, sticking a dagger in deep, then proceeded to hack at it all over with his hatchet. "But she seems fine!"
-
"That is good to hear, now let's just focus on killing this thing quickly." Jormungdang replied.
-
Ash grimaced as the creature's sticky blood flowed out from the wounds they had made. "I second that... this is just gross..."
