I'm currently enjoying a rare morning treat: a round, fruit-filled bun called—fittingly enough—a morning round. It's got cranberries and little bits of orange inside, and I've toasted it and topped it with a delicious blueberry spread. Its succulent (using "succulent" outside of a Red Lobster comercial FTW) fruitiness got me thinking: What are your favorite breakfast items, and why do you like them so much?
-
Alright. My favourite:
2 slices of bread. Proper bread, not the american factory pushed baloney, but dutch bread.
1 slice of good mild cheese, again the dutch sort.
1 thick baking slice of bacon.
melt the cheese on 1 slice of bread in microwave for 40 seconds, and bake the bacon in a pan with olive oil shortly on high temp. add to melted cheese sandwich for a salty and sweet breakfast delight.
I LOVE THAT SHIET.

See, now you're reminding me of my favorite breakfast I had in Austria; a nice crusty baked Brötchen mit butter und prosciutto! ^_^
-
Prosciutto :|
Now I'm getting hungry :)
-
Are you sure you didn't mean to put this face for prosciutto? :o

Quite likely :|
Back on topic, just a melted cheese sandwich is great too :)
-
I think my favorite breakfast is blueberry pancakes, bacon, and hash browns. Not a terribly healthy breakfast, but I hardly ever eat it. XD
-
Blueberry pancakes are always yummy! In fact, ANYTHING blueberry is always yummy! :D
I've actually been staying away from bacon for the most part. Eggs, too. I got really sick a while back after eating some bacon and eggs. While I don't think the two were related, every time I've tried eating bacon and/or eggs since then, my tummy hasn't responded well. :(
-
Heh....wow, youve got nice menus for breakfast. I hardly eat before I start my day as I have a pretty busy work schedule, that's why Saturdays are my favourite day of ze week ^^
It usually a nice bowl of chicken porridge with fried dough sticks or simply some bread with nutella/peanut butter/jam that kinda thing. But if do have a lot of time to spare I would make scrambled eggs, fried hot dogs and pancakes ^^
-
Chicken porridge with fried dough sticks? I've never heard of this concoction before, but it sounds great! :D And when it comes to Nutella, one of my favorite things to do with it is to spread it on two pieces of bread, sandwich them together, and then throw that in a frying pan and grill it to a nice golden brown! ^_^ Makes the Nutella nice and melty and delicious!
And boy oh boy do fried hot dogs and pancakes sound amazing right about now... :o

Haha yeah. It's a Chinese delicacy, and sometimes it isn't just that, it can even be fried vermicilli with an egg and some slices of luncheon meat, glutinous rice with chicken, fishball noodles, keeps goin' on and on...
Feast your eyes, my friend....on what we eat for breakfast in Sunny Singapoooree...

I love saturday mornings ^_^

Singaporeans officially have the most amazing breakfasts on the planet. You put breakfast cereal and toast to absolute, utter shame.
-
I don't eat breakfast that often (I know, scold me for skipping "the most important meal of the day") but I like
-lightly toasted bread w/ butter (and delicious homemade bread)
-chocolate chip pancakes
-homefries
-a glass of orange juice
and I like them because my tastebuds say

Haha well that may be true. Just that the downside is that the cholesterol levels are pretty high we can't eat those like on a regular basis. Maybe once or twice a week but that's it.
It gets so intense that even cereal and toast would suffice.
Now! I shall start my morning today by making scrambled eggs. AW. YEAH.
-
Vegemite on toast ALL THE WAY!!
Is my Australia showing?
-
Just a bit there, Maine... XD But I've never had vegemite! I've heard it's VERY salty, but something in me still wants to try it!

Make sure you have it with butter and spread it thin. that is the mistake most make. yes, by itself it is extremely salty!! :3
-
I've never had vegemite but I've had marmite in my porridge before ^^
-
And what in the world is marmite? :?
-
Oh it's something like soya sauce, just a little thicker and it tastes different.
I think Maine might know what I'm talkin about XD

Yeah, I've had martmite, I still find it inferior to good old vegemite thought :)
-
... Butter and blueberry preserves FTW!! :D
-
DAT. SOUNDS. AWESOME :|
-
It is awesome! Just toast up an english muffin and slap some butter and blueberryness on it! ^_^
-
How I envy your breakfasts XD I must do some traveling to get english muffins here and they aren't as cheap.
Sigh....
*nibbles on bread*
-
You've got some pretty hardcore breakfasts too, though! Those pics you posted look pretty delicious! XD
I don't foresee breakfast being too thrilling for me today, though, as I cannot smell or taste anything... *blows stuffed-up nose* :'(
-
Had an awesome breakfast of fried flat noodles, an egg, hashbrown and a piece of fried chicken. ^_^
-
I don't know if its been mentioned, but I love waking up and getting to eat a soft, gooey omelet :* Of course orange juice also goes with any breakfast item of the day!
-
^SO......SO GOOD :o
-
I had some absolutely wonderful breakfast tacos the other day! Can't go wrong with chorizo, eggs, and salsa verde! :D
-
Hope you all don't mind me posting my favourite breakfast here? xD
http://trialx.com/g/Crumpets-3.jpg (http://trialx.com/g/Crumpets-3.jpg)
Crumpets. Seriously though, they're so good. Everytime I go back to England I stash them in my suitcase and stuff 'em in the freezer or fridge and I have crumpets left for a looong time x)
I so want them now o3o
-
Ok, call me a stupid American, but what ARE crumpets?? I've always wanted to try them!!
-
Hmm, well, when I went to America someone said English Muffins taste and seem familiar. They kinda do, but also not.
So if you look in the store for English muffins and cannot try the real thing yet, I guess I can suggest you try those instead.
But! Crumpets are just... yummy x3
Hmm... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumpet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumpet)
I dunno how to describe to someone 'taste', because we experience it differently. If you ever go to England, be sure to get a package ;D
You prepare them like toast btw.
Place them in a toaster and sha-zam XD
-
I do love English muffins! But if you say crumpets are different, then I MUST try them and taste it for myself! One day I shall go to England, then! XD
-
I think the taste is different x)
But I think they're also differently prepared a bit. I btw add butter and chocolate sprinkles to them. That or jam. Jam is good too. I don't like jam, except on crumpets x3
But then I also have other 'weird' habits.
Like Peanut butter + chocolate sprinkles on bread and/or toast.
Yum :3
If you ever go to England, tell me ^^
And tell me what you think of the crumpets.
-
That all sounds amazing!! :D
And don't worry, I will definitely let you know! ^_^
-
Crumpets! I've never had a real one... I wanna go to England so bad and have an actual crumpet, my life will not be complete until that day
-
Looks like you and I have a quest on our paws, Nova!
-
Oh my God....you guys, remember how I told y'all that I can't find pop tarts in my country??
I found these in my local supermarket recently!!!
Say it with me...
''GLORIOUS!!!!'' xD
-
Haha, go Thrasher!! XD What flavor did you get? :D
-
Hahaha I didn't get one as I had to leave for something else xD
I think I'll get the strawberry one and have it for breakfast next time. But I was told by a friend that it's incredibly sweet. Is...is that true?? LOL, I'm already a fat huskeh XD
-
The strawberry is pretty sweet, yeah. Personally, I recommend chocolate fudge, blueberry, or brown sugar cinnamon. :3
-
Jelly toast, eggs and bacon. Then a toaster strudel right out of the freezer, blueberry only. :*
-
Untoasted toaster strudel? o.O What blasphemy is this??
-
Had a slice of pandan cake for breakfast this morning ^_^
-
What's pandan, Thrasher? O:
-
Oh it's this local leaf/grass here which has some sorta aromatic scent and it's used in many deserts here. So with the pandan extract we add it to the cake mix and taadaaa! Pandan cake! ^_^

OH MY GOD IS THAT AVAILABLE IN THE UNITED STATES?? OwO!! *drools profusely*
-
That sounds soooooo good right now.
-

Hahaha I hope so! XD
I think the recipe is available online like any other sponge cake, except that you'll need to find the pandan extract. Hopefully the Asian stores there have it ^_^
