Title: FeralWings' occasionally updatedlist of underrated/unheard games worth playing.
Post by: FeralWings on March 31, 2013, 02:23:32 PM
Well, here's a list that I will be updating on occasion, of games that I feel have slipped under the radar, undeservingly.

First off, and one by which I feel it to be very undeserving;

Spec Ops: The Line.
You and two other soldiers under your command travel to a sandstorm-ridden abandoned Dubai, in hopes of finding the remains of a military crew, and extracting any surivors still present. But along the path, it goes wrong and wrong again, despite your best efforts to do good. It shows that even the most righteous of choices, can lead to the most hellish of outcomes, leading your crew to doubt you, and your sanity.

Solid gameplay mechanics, as a third person shooter. Beautiful graphics, and compelling story. Amazing soundtrack, even featuring my favourite band, Mogwai! I was very pleased to hear 'Glascow mega snake' starting to paly during an insane battle. Rather memorable fight.

My opinion? 9/10, solid if simple gameplay, great graphics, compelling story and sweet soundtrack. I'd play it for the story alone, already.

Too lazy to add more atm :)

There's one game that always comes to my mind when talking about relatively unheard of games: Rogue Galaxy. If it weren't for the abundance of other RPGs like it, then I bet it would have been more widely known. As it is I've never talked to anyone who's actually heard of it before, but it's one of my all time favorite games. Released in 2006, it has a great combat system, engaging story, creative characters, excellent music, and terrific item/crafting mechanics. Oh, and the Insectron minigame. What is insectron? Chess with battle-insects. I put more time into collecting, raising, and battling my insect team than the rest of the game combined. You can play through multiple tiers of AI opponents or you can play local multiplayer against a friend, and either way it stands as the most original and outright fun minigame I've ever played. If you like RPGs and still have a last-gen system, I highly recommend it.
