Title: The new youtube channel design ...what do you think ?
Post by: maggintons on March 09, 2013, 11:00:04 AM
YouTube has done it again ... swinging the channel in the favour of shareholders
instead of the users

Personally i hate this design since YouTube have hardly any identity left .. i saw this happen ever since they tried to force people to use there normal names ...i can relate this back to late 2011 in which YouTube publically announced it would GROW UP.

if YouTube keeps going this way YouTube will become a digital version of Itv or FOX channel and the only channels will be from tv shows.

here's where i found out about this

New YOUTUBE Channel Layout Design 2013... SUCKS!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFGUC8zJ0gk#ws)

i believe a petition should be made in response to it...oh wait .. there already is..remember to spread the word. https://www.change.org/petitions/youtube-please-stop-the-new-2013-channel-designs-youtube-ytcreators (https://www.change.org/petitions/youtube-please-stop-the-new-2013-channel-designs-youtube-ytcreators)

I don't like it either.
And I've noticed a lot of the 'famous' youtubers don't like it either.

Also, it's making each user more and more difficult to differeant themselves from others with their own page. Each page used to be unique in colour and design, now it's just the same colour, shape, etc.

I usually think every change they do keeps making it worse. This isn't that bad I think, though I still remember the old-old-old design back in the single digit years (pre 2010) as being the most likeable one.

This new one I assume is rather uniform with the rest of the website. At this point I've rather stopped caring because there's nothing really that can be done as they will keep it regardless of what their users think (gotta love monopoly!).

Anyhow... this ain't that bad I think, still I think youtube is trying too much to be facebook or twitter.

Yes i completely agree its making it much harder to get attention its becoming like the music industry making it impossible to tell the difference so nobody becomes a brand

heck pewdiepie made a banner saying the new design sucks on his channel.

Yes, I saw that too XD

Also, the title of the website is YouTube, right? What's so 'You' about it now?
-see what I did there?-

I think that it's fine, only that Youtube should allow FULL customisation of your own page and the possibility of using templates.
I don't really have anything against the changes that youtube are always making. I like how people use their real names and sure the start page is not as great as it has been before, but it's still pretty good.

Let's rather be glad that Youtube is actually changing and daring to do so. I don't think I would be as happy if Youtube still used basic HTML instead of flash and the transition towards HTML5.

lololo

I miss the second layout YouTube did with the ability to comment on each others channels and customize your channel colors.
It's supposed to be the social networking era and YouTube aren't allowing for this...

It's like they want everyone to be a drone in a clinical world and just deal with the basic functions so the authorities have all the power.
This just proves Google has an ulterior motive, just consider street view, the botnet(s), GLASS, censorship, the attempt at going political. Google is shaping up to using authoritarianism of the web to take power from the established governments and control the world themselves.

To cut it short, it's the googluminati.

the problem is that most youtubers agree that they could not have gotten so big if they all looked the same

I'm not saying it's right that they should all look the same.
I'm saying that they should all be as entirely different as possible.

mhm and the previous channel design was a perfect balance as far as differences were concerned since the channel interface could not be changed while the user could add links in there custom background

Very true,
Though I would like to see where youtube is going with their new design.
