Title: Future New York
Post by: JohnnyP789 on February 20, 2013, 09:52:34 PM
John wakes up in his apartment, his neck stiff from the gun that was underneath his pillow. He took it out, and he put his shirt on, his blue jeans dirty from working on a car that he has been trying to fix for a few months now. Parts were hard to come by now a days. He brushed his hair with his fingers and put the pistol into it's holster at his hip, and he strapped his sword across his back. He stepped into his garage and pulled the cover off a black matte Ducati monster. He smiled every time he saw it. That was his pride and joy for right now. He put on his helmet and pressed the garage door opener. He waited until it was open enough for him to get through, and he stopped it. He kickstarted the bike and rolled underneath the door, pressing the button again and waiting until it closed to drive off.

After he turned the corner, he pressed a button on the side of his helmet and there was a screen on the inside of his visor that said,"system armed." Then went away. He smiled and leaned forward on the bike, and twisted the throttle back as far as it would go. He liked to speed down the streets at night, he knew where the streets were so full of cars, that you would need a motorcycle to squeeze by, and which streets were barren. As he was driving, he flew past an alleyway, seeing someone running down it. For the split second he saw them, he could tell that they weren't militia. He slammed on the brakes and leaned the bike to the left, skidding to a stop. He revved the engine and peeled out, driving back towards that alleyway. He put his bike in neutral and turned it off, rolling to a stop in front of a hummer that was parked on the side of the street. He pushed the bike so that people driving on the street wouldn't see it, and he took off his helmet, but not before pressing a button on the helmet and locking the bike.

He took out his pistol and slowly walked towards the alleyway. Once he reached it, he put his back to the wall, and peered around, looking down the alley to see if anyone was there. It was barren. He cautiously stepped around the wall, hugging the wall as he moved down the alley. When he reached the end. He stopped and peered around the wall, waiting to either hear someone else's breathing besides his own, or to get shot.

He didn't see anyone, but he had a feeling that he wasn't alone.

The smoke billowed from Spike's lips as he leaned up against the brick wall. His eyes glanced down the alleyway in both directions. His contact was late, again. He had no idea how long he'd been standing there waiting but he needed those papers of the militia manifest.

He sauntered away from the wall and flicked the cigarette away to his side. To his left, was the entrance that lead into the alleyway where John was standing, but Spike hadn't noticed him. He had no idea who he was supposed to meet or what they looked like. All he knew was the place and that he'd be contacted when he arrived there.

His gripped the AK tight in his arms as he paced in the alleyway around the corner from where John was standing. Suddenly a steel door opened near where Spike was standing.

"You the guy?" A hooded figure asked the coyote as he stood in the doorway to a back kitchen.

"Yeah...I'm the guy." Spike replied.

Without further question, the contact handed over a book with a black leather cover to Spike who analyzed it. Satisfied with the product, Spike handed over a small bag in exchange. The hooded figure quickly grabbed the small bag and stashed it in his pocket before slamming the door closed.

Spike didn't waste any time, he quickly turned to leave the alley from the direction in which he came. He turned the corner to find another stranger with a gun ready to pounce on his operation. Spike flinched when he found himself staring down the barrel of John's pistol. He stood there frozen, waiting for the bang.

John froze when he heard the sound of voices outside the alleyway. He couldn't understand what was being said, but all he knew was that there was an exchange that was taking place. He held his breath and waited, hearing footsteps getting closer and closer to where he was against the wall. He raised his gun and waited to fire, his finger on the trigger.

he took a few steps back  so when the person came around the corner, he would have time to fire before they could attack, but he stopped when spike turned the corner. He stared him down and watched as the man froze a look of fear clear in his eyes.

John kept the gun trained on spike with a calmness that showed he has done this before, and wasn't afraid to do it again," Who are you." It wasn't meant as a question, it was a demand.

The sound of the wind clawed at the edges of the VIPE cockpit, seeking a way in through the soundproofing and perspex. Flecks of rain and ash spattered over and over onto the screen as the cockpit was buffeted like a a leaf in storm. Cocooned in a small bubble of warmth and control panels, the pilot scanned their visor-clad head across the horizon, the twisted and gutted remains of a city sliding by far below.

The aircraft juddered and the soft hum of the engines grew to a growl. With a deft movement of the wrist the pilot opened communications, holding two fingers to the comms switch on the side of their helmet, their voice crackled through to the crew compartment <"You boys back there had better buckle up, we got turbulence ahead"> The aircraft shook again, buffeted to the right by a great sheet of wind. Movements calm and poised, the pilot teased the aircraft back in line, soft blue light shed across their flight suit and the featureless grey visor that obscured the face entirely. The pilot turned their head, eyes seemingly unseeing, yet watching in a broad spectrum of optic ranges gathered by the helmet sensors.

+++WARN RADAR LOCK+++ Red light flooded the cockpit, dreaded words flashing in the corner of the pilots visual feed. No time to act, heat tore through the aircraft, a searing hot roar of noise following a second later. Thrown against their restraints the pilot pulled hard on the controls. Smoke streamed from the torn hull of the VIPE and, like a striken bird it tipped, rose for a moment, and then it fell...

Spike opened one eye. He'd been asked a question. Surprised he hadn't been shot yet could one have meant one thing. He was not standing before militia but someone else. Relief rushed over him but he kept his hands up. "I'm not anyone." Spike said. He had no idea who this guy thought he was but Spike wasn't about to get the better half of him in deeper trouble.

"Just someone trying to do their part." He said, hinting at the sign of a resistance and pointing the barrel down away from his face and to his chest with a gesture of his finger.

"Now who the hell are you and what do you want?" The coyote asked with his hands raised and eyes narrowed.

John looked at the man and smiled slightly," trying to do your part?" he lowered his gun, but he kept it in his palm, looking around slightly,"Me? i'm just taking a ride." he smirked," you know... an attitude isn't the way to go about not getting shot. just keep that in mind when you get a gun pointed at you again, cause the next time that happens, it won't be me behind the gun." he extended his paw and smiled," my name is John... John smith." he heard a huge bang, like something entering the atmosphere, and he saw a flaming ball streak across the sky. he looked back at the man and shrugged," well... you don't see that everyday..."

A deep ringing. Sound seemed to have fled in the wake of the explosion as the pilot turned their head with a sharp pain, dazed and slow. All around warnings flashed, a high-pitched shrieking siren filling the aircraft as the striken VIPE tumbled through the skies in a great plume of smoke and torn wreckage. The pilot hung limp in their restraints, one arm thrown out against the perspex windscreen, the other clutched to their chest. The sirens and warnings continued to flash and blare, but they seemed far away, a muffled buzz under that deep ringing that echoed and grew in the ears until nothing else was heard.

The ground spun below, it flipped over and over... Every few seconds the view through the cracked perspex windscreen showed a cloud-scudded sky, then the grey tangled mess of the city, then the sky again, and then the city loomed once more into view - larger now as it roared up to meet the aircraft.

<Power to the blades gone - possibly lost in initial explosion, aerofoils show no signs of response, spin is vertical - not lateral>... The checks went through the pilots mind with a feeling of helplessness. The ringing pervaded everything, G-force pulling the pilot against their restraints, skyscrapers rushed up to either side now, great cliffs of concrete roaring past as the aircraft flipped over again in its stream of smoke... <Chances of survival calculated at less than 10%>

There was a moment of silence as even the muffled roar of the wind and boiling plume of flames subsided, and the ground expanded until it filled the view of the cockpit. Then the aircraft tumbled over itself one last time and the view went black, the ringing gone...

Spike reached into his pocket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes. He lit up a smoke and shook John's paw, holding the strap on his AK as to keep it from sliding off his right shoulder. "Nice to meet you, John. I'm Spike." The coyote said with a smile.

He looked up at what John was talking about. A streak of smoke and flames strewn across the sky overhead caught Spike's eye as he took another drag. "Nope...ya sure don't." He said before exhaling a plume of smoke. "That bird is going down pretty hard." His attention shifted from the sky to John's face. "Think it had anything to do with the resistance?"

He shook his head and gestured towards the pack of cigarettes," can I have one?" He pulled out his zippo and waited for the cig, looking up at the sky, then back down," No... as far as i know, you and I are the only ones on the resistance... but, there is only one way to find out." He looked at spike, and grinned,"I'm gonna get us something special. I'll be back."

He smiled and walked out of the alley and over to his bike, putting on his helmet and handing spike a piece of paper with an address on it," meet me here. i'll be back by the time you get there, if i'm not.... just wait." He smiled and started the bike and drove off.

KAT woke, dazed and confused, she turned her head slowly and looked around through a haze of pain and smoke. Heat rolled off every surface in palpable waves, the roaring crackle of flames and dull creaking of steel filled the cockpit. She released her restraints, falling back with a thud. Pain, flaring in her arm like a hot poker, but no time. She pulled herself up to the hatch, climbing down through the crew compartment beyond. The VIPE has landed tail down, the miracle that was the reason she had survived, straps and equipment hung like scraps of sinew on the carcass of a fallen animal. Little remained of the others, save a few red smears and blackened husks. She tried to ignore them, dropping to the ground and out of a scarred rent in the aircraft hull...

Free of the cloying smoke she lowered herself out of the burning wreckage to the smashed concrete below. Rubble piled up where the aircraft had driven into the side of an apartment block, it was only near the bottom that she saw the body... Reaching as if to crawl away to safety. KAT stood over him, his mask torn away to show the face of a wolf, bloodied and burnt his lips moved slowly and he stared up at her with watering eyes. The crack of her pistol shot echoed through the street and the wolf fell still.

The aircraft groaned, another ball of oily flames roaring into the sky as KAT stumbled to the street level, slumping against the nearest wall, blood soaking through the arm of her flight suit. She flipped up her visor and gulped at the fresh air, slumping onto her side. There would be no rescue aircraft, only the task the squad had been set that now fell to her. Even as darkness drew in around the edges of her vision she could see the last orders still flashing in the corner of her visor display.... < Eliminate John Smith>

Spike gestured the pack to John and let him take as many as he felt like taking. He watched as John got on his bike and sped off down the street. He took a final drag before discarding the butt, flicking it away before pulling out the manifest from his pocket.

He analyzed the papers and then looked at the paper John had handed him. He groaned. The address was located halfway across the city in an apartment complex "That's quite a distance...but I guess I'll see ya there." The coyote said as he was left alone in the street.

He turned around and began to walk.

John sped down the streets, a grin on his face. he loved riding his bike, but that grin quickly turned to a look of surprise when he saw a person in a weird flight suit, bleeding on the side of a street. He skidded to a stop parked, taking his helmet, and running over to the person, kneeling down and noticing that their arm was broken pretty badly, and he winced slightly," hey, come on, we need to get you some help." He gently grabbed their other arm, and he pulled her arm over his neck, and he began to walk, making her lean her weight on him," what happened to you?"

the walk to the med station was a good 5 miles from where they were and he looked at her as he practically dragged her, sweat gleaming off his forehead," my name's john smith, what's yours?"

Pain, a black haze and muffled sounds... Someone lifting her up bodily, leaning over their shoulders, half walking half dragging... Pain again, blacking out, sounds echoing and grey blurs sliding in and out of vision. Kat slumped, falling to her knees she coughed and retched. Bile flecked with bright red blood hit the concrete and she gave a groan, pain again in her arm, stabbing white hot and blinding. Darkness again, she clung to the stranger for support, managing with his help to get back to her feet.

She shivered, though the evening was mild and by no means cold. Strange words flowed over her in a jumbled mess, pain stabbing again she felt the hot pinpricks of tears in her eyes... One question she understood though, her fractured NC-taught English struggling at the best of times, she glanced up at him with a pained expression "K.A.T... Name is Kat..."

The coyote held the address up to his face. He stood before the place John had told him to meet, an old building with a single number for the address. It looked too small for a large apartment complex but seemed too big to be one person's house. When Spike approached the door, he gave a knock. No answer.

His eyes narrowed. He checked the address one last time. The coyote lit up another cigarette and slumped down on the front steps to wait for his contact with John. He took a few drags and set his rifle down against the ledge. He'd have to wait for him to show.

Smoking on front porches and steps was Spike's life as a young man. With no work and little else to do besides avoid the fighting, anything else seemed better than doing nothing. When a patrol had rolled by, Spike dropped his gun behind a hedge and watched as the heavy armor rumbled past, many of the militia exchanging glares with him on the steps.

The coyote sneered once they passed by, spitting in their direction. "Damn jungle bunnies." Spike said as he flicked his cigarette away.

john was getting dizzy, his legs screaming in pain from the exertion of carrying another person for three miles straight and no rest.luckily he didn't run into any patrols. he walked into an alley, and sat her down on the ground, leaning her against the cold brick wall. he looked at her and smiled,"Kat.... this is going to hurt... but i have to do it..." he sat down next to her broken arm, and he lifted it as gently as he could, wincing as he heard her moans of pain. he took off his shirt and rolled it into a long strip, then grabbed her forearm, and her bicep, and pulled and reagusted her arm, so the bone was in place, and nothing was damaged. he quickly wrapped the wound with his shirt to stop the bleeding, and he held her close, waiting for her pain to subside, and also to check to see if she was still breathing. his blac fur giving off a sort of glow from the light, and his bare chest still heaving from the exertion he jut put his body through. but his heart was racing from what he jut did. he held her untill she became sort of silent, and he finally looked at her again," i'm sorry for that... but i had to..."

Waking from darkness to a white hot wire of pain, stabbing through thoughts and consciousness until it was all she could think of. Kat resisted the urge to cry out, clenching her jaw she allowed the stranger to hold her close and fought back the wave of nausea that flooded through her, dark blotches passed across her blurring vision.

"I'm sorry for that... but I had to..." Again words washed over her, a blur that barely made its way through the buzzing pain. She turned away and retched, clutching the bound arm to her chest, clenched her teeth and turned back, head swimming. Glancing down at the arm, soaked in blood, she eyed it with what scrutiny her pain-addled mind could afford. <'Setting of bone = rudimentary, chance of correct alignment ~35% ... Realignment required before setting of cast... Blood loss assumed at below critical levels, bleeding stemmed to acceptable level... Further medical help required'> The calculations rushed through her mind in silence, barely seconds passing as she clenched her jaw and nodded in response to John.

John stands up, and lifts her up by her good arm and smiles," we are going somewhere safe so you can heal. Alright?" He began to drag her out of the alley and he looked up at the street signs smiling," we are almost there." They walked another block, and when they turned the corner, he saw spike sitting at the stoop of his house and he shouted," HEY! SPIKE!!!" he waved, almost losing his balance from her weight on him.

He leaned her against a wall," I will be back in a few just hold on. I have to get my bike." And with that he ran off, returning five minutes later, the bike roaring down the street, with his helmet on and a grin from underneath the visor. he pulled up to the house, and opened the garage door, pulled in, and parked the bike. he ran back out and lifted her up again, bringing her over to spike," I found her on the verge of death walking along a side street. She needs to rest."

Spike narrowed his eyes suspiciously at the injured stranger John had decided to bring home.

"And just why do we believe she needs our help? How can you trust her?" He argued, looking at the way she looked. "And just how did she get hurt anyway? For all we know, she's out to kill you." Spike said indirectly, almost as a joke. "I think it's a bad idea to bring her inside."

Kat slumped down against the wall, one bloodied arm clutched to her chest. Pain flared again, the acrid taste of bile in her mouth, she clenched her jaw with a sharp intake of breath. The brief conversation between the two of them flowed around her in a meaningless babble and as John disappeared she glanced up at Spike.

<"And just why do we believe she needs our help? How can you trust her?">

She watched him in silence, deciphering his words, the pain coming and going in nauseous waves. Slowly she reached for the sidearm clipped to her flight-suit, her one good hand reached down for the pistol grip, fighting against the pain. As her fingers brushed the clip of the holster pain returned again in a fresh surge, she collapsed back against the wall again. Every ounce of her training told her to get her pistol, kill them both, but even the thought of doing so was blotted out compared to the seething pain that washed up her arm.

john smiled when spike said that she would try to kill him," Meh. She is in no shape to be killing anyone right now, and besides... even if she could, she would never get the chance." he looked over at her when out of the corner of his eye, he saw her reaching for her pistol. he grabbed her wrist gently, but with enough force to stop her. He unholstered her gun, and handed it to spike. He then searched her for anymore weapons. the ones he found, he handed them to spike and he smiled," There, she's not going to hurt anyone any time soon. you happy now?" he smirked and looked at her," now... you need to rest."

Spike looked at John puzzled for his reasoning behind helping this person. He took the pistol he handed over to him and put it in his belt. He took the other weapons and pocketed them as well.

"This is a bad idea, man. I think we should just shoot them now and be done." He said, pointing at her with the barrel of his rifle. "This has militia written all over it...but if you insist..."

He looked up at John's residence. "We gonna carry her inside?"

Kat clenched her teeth against the pain as she was stripped of her pistol and the combat-blade sheathed at the thigh of her flight suit. Eyes clenched shut she surrendered the weapons without a fight, holding her bloodied arm to her chest. When Spike spoke again she opened her eyes and stared up at him, looking down the length of his rifle calmly.

After a brief pause she spoke in a hoarse voice, breath panting and labored between fractured words. "I... Am not with the Militia..."  Several seconds passed as she stared up at him then, slowly she pushed the rifle away with her one good hand, reached to her left wrist and drew another concealed blade it clattered to the concrete at Spike's feet. She coughed, blood flecking her lips and muttered "If you still do not trust me... Then kill me..."

John looked down at the blade and he smiled slightly," yes inside we go." He looked at spike," when you go in, take your first left and wait for me, i'll be there in a few seconds. I would like to talk to you, then we can hit the hay. I will show you your room in a few." He turned to her and walked up to the door, unlocking it and pushing the door open. Once he did that, there was an audible beeping coming from inside the house. He smirked and ran in, after a few seconds, the beeping stopped. he walked back outside and smiled," Sorry for that. Anyway..." He walked up to Kat, and sweeped her legs out from under her, but made sure she fell into his arms, and he smiled as he carried her up the steps and immediately took a right and walked into a bedroom. There was nothing special about the room, plain walls, a dresser and a bed. but the bed and pillows were soft and warm, and it felt almost like home.

He gently set her down on the bed and he smiled," Rest now, you have nothing to be worried about. And sorry for that, It would have been easier to carry you up that way instead of the way I have been carrying you. Don't worry... No one is going to kill you in your sleep. just relax and we can talk tomorrow morning." He walked out of the room and he looked out the window at the setting sun. he locked the door and he set what looked like an alarm, and he walked into the living room, sitting down on the couch and looking at spike," so... What were you doing in the alleyway when I almost shot you?"

Spike sat in a chair opposite to John. He had placed his rifle against the side of the armrest. He looked down at the coffee table and noticed a bowl that had appeared to look like an ashtray. He took his finger and slid it closer to the middle of the table and placed it between the two of them. He reached inside his coat and pulled out 2 items; cigarettes and a folded sheet of paper.

Lighting 2 cigarettes at once, he pulled one from his lips and rested it in the ashtray on John's side for him. After, he took the sheet of paper in his hands and unfolded it, placing it flat down on the table in front of John. The coyote leaned back in his chair and stared at John from across the table.

A few moments had passed before Spike spoke. "...Do you know what that is?" He asked, pointing down at the paper in front of John, looking at him inquisitively.

"...It's the friggin' key to taking the city..." He said, taking another drag after a short pause.

"Every scheduled munition drop. Where and when and who's getting it for the next 49 days." He added, blowing the words out through smoke, a smile stretched across his face.

"Spike dun' good this time." He laughed.

Kat made no move to stop John as he picked her up bodily, only clenching her teeth against the grinding pain in her arm with every bump as he carried her up the stairs and into the building. Black dots swam around the edges of her vision - turning right, a bedroom, the details of it hazy and indistinct through the wash of pain. She glanced up at him as he dropped her onto the bed, suddenly aware of the dust and filth that clung to her flight suit, let alone the blood. All she could do was to nod at what he said, clutching her arm to her as he walked out and closed the door.

With John gone Kat went into motion, gritting her teeth she as sat up and reached to her left thigh for the small inconspicuous case. It flipped open at the touch of a thumb, capsules wrapped in silver foil, gauze, auto-injectors. <' Bone resetting required within next 6:00 hours...'>  The field bone-cast was two simple strips of a grey metallic material, strapped around the arm either side of the breakage, it cinched tight with a whir of an internal motor, gripping the arm painfully. Kat clenched her teeth and fought back a scream as her bone cracked into position, tears in her eyes, she let it do its work.

<' Blood loss no longer assumed at below critical levels - Possibility of internal hemorrhaging ~25% ... remedying...'> She gulped down several capsules, blood clotters to stem the bleeding, anti-bacterial's for the inevitable infection of the wound. Lying on the floor of the room, propped up against the bed she swabbed and cleaned her cuts, stabbing an injector into her leg with another shudder of pain. <' Morphine dose administered ... next dose... in two... hours '> She pulled herself up, arm clutched to her chest, she slumped heavily onto the bed. Vision slowly fading away to darkness...

John picked up the cig and took a drag and he smiled," great. now we can form a plan on how to take them out. but for right now.... We can't do it alone... it's three against an army. We don't have a chance in hell..." He smiled slightly and looked up at him, taking another drag," but, now with this... we can start somewhere." He grinned," yes, you did good. I commend you friend, good job." He looked over at the room he left Kat in and he closed his eyes, sighing and he got up, walked into his room across from hers, and he got another shirt. He put it on and walked back out to the living room," and now we need a plan..." He looked down at the paper and smirked, shaking his head,"How did you do this?"

Outside, a riot was forming, a none too quiet one either. At the lead was a white lioness, a bandage covering her right eye socket, especially since her eye was missing. She was leading a revolt against the Militia, determination shining in her sky blue, almost white, eye. As an ex-Captain, she would do her best to liberate each place from the Militia's grasp, riot or no riot. She carries with her a set of throwing knives, hiding amongst the crowd to kill any Militia men who tried to stop her. Though, she doubted she would need to use them, seeing that most of the rioters were armed anyway. What was about to happen next wouldn't be as clear to her as to how the riot failed. Gunshots fill the air, screams and shouts echo around her in a dulled sense. All around, men and women collapse to the dirty street, dead because of a rat in her operation. A shrill ringing echoes in her ears as five soldiers file out from an abandoned building, grabbing her arms to clear her from the scene. Once everything sped up and cleared in her vision and hearing, she turns her head into an oncoming fist. She could taste blood on her tongue as tiny black dots swam across her vision. A heavy boot to the stomach made her cough and spit blood onto the grayed pavement that used to be a road. It took her a second to realize that they were going to beat her to death because of her idiocy. All of this could be seen happening from all over the city: it was being broadcasted over the television station here. The radios even report about the riot attempt, and the speech given by the major. In the street, she continued to take the beating, seeing as they had taken her weapons and kept holding her up after she would fall.

The coyote raised his eyebrows and sat back in the chair, pressing his boot against the edge of the table in front of him. "We blow them up. Obviously we can't just run in and shoot them. We don't have enough men to steal even half the convoy." He pressed his cigarette out in the bowl and exhaled his last plume through his words. "We kill all of them and destroy their establishments."

His attention was cut off by a radio report heard from the back of the room. A riot in the next district had gotten out of hand. Spike smirked and shook his head. Ignoring the radio broadcast he spoke, "If you're wondering what's next..." He stopped and pulled out a small black device attached to a brown brick of plastic taped to a large amount of rusty nails pressed in the top.  "We'll need more of these." He said, dropping the homemade bomb down on the coffee table next to the cigarette bowl. It landed with a heavy thud against the wood.

The coyote looked around the room and looked back at John. "We'll need a kitchen if we're to start right away but I doubt you have half the chemicals we need." He looked out the window.

"We'll need to head out into the district of the riot and steal what we need from downtown to save time. Let's go." He said, standing up and walking out the door.

As the soldiers fell, she looked around for a moment, her breathing heavy and blood oozing from a gash under her left eye. Hacking blood into the ground, she fell forward and blacked out, arms tied behind her back.

After few minutes Alex arrived to Hikari. Wolf kneels next to her and frees her paws before lifting the lion on his shoulder and disapearing to dark alley away from doomed riot. Wolf takes her to abandoned aparment and lays her on bed before patching her up then setting his rifle next to window and looking outside, guarding her until she wakes up

John Smiled maniacally at the bomb and chuckled," you.... I have at least 5 blocks of military grade C4, But I never had a chance to use them." He grinned and stood up, getting a piece of paper, and writing something down, and sliding it under Kat's door. It read," When you wake up, feel free to get something to drink and eat, we will be back, in a few." He nodded and walked out behind spike," alright, lets.." He looked at the alleyway, and he saw man carrying a women, the man carrying a gun and the women bleeding, looking like she just got beat. He watched the man carry the woman away and he looked at spike," What do you think... should we follow?"

Hikari twitched and writhed where she lay, the recent events replaying across her unconscious mind. In the process of her beating, the eye patch had been knocked askew, the black of her empty eye socket showing slightly. A strange flash of red shows for a second before fading back into the depths of her eye.

In the bedroom Kat slept curled up on the bed, her back to the wall, the once clean white sheets were now smeared with blood and grime. As the piece of paper slid under the door an ear flicked up from her unconscious figure and one unnaturally bright blue eye fixed on the doorway as John's footsteps receded away down the hall. With clenched teeth she slid off the bed, lurching across the room to grab the paper as pain flared dully in her arm the morphine muffled everything to a soft buzz. For several seconds she stared at the paper, then slowly opened the door, eyes flicking down the hallway, ears up and twitching.

The kitchen was alien, strange and nothing like the military-style feeding at the NC base. Wincing with every pain-flaring step Kat made her way around the room, opening cupboards and drawers. Everything was stocked with canned food, non-perishables, bottled water. She tore into a packet of dried meat, tearing at it with her teeth until the plastic gave way and she wolfed down the food within. Quickly she tore open another, gulping it down like an animal worried its prey would be stolen. Despite this she picked the food carefully, high in protein to help replace blood lost, large water intake, salt and sugars. Between every bite her eyes flicked again to the kitchen door, one hand resting on the second blade she still had hidden in the thigh of her flightsuit.

A strange, gutteral growl seems to emit from her body, but not of Hikari's doing. As it stood, she was out like a light and had no way of making such a noise. She gave a final twitch and a couple murmurs before rolling onto her side and curling up slightly with a groan of pain.

"Good, the C4 will help." He said as he made his way down the steps and into the street.

He'd noticed the two figures in the alley as soon as John had. He immediately turned to John and grabbed him by the arm, quickly pulling him over to the cover of a nearby dumpster to hide from view. He gripped his rifle and peered over the top. Seeing nothing, he crouched back down and looked at his companion. "She isn't our concern...but...I guess we can check it out." He admitted after having his curiosity and suspicions get the better of him. "Follow me and stay close." He whispered.

The coyote slinked over to the wall across from their position. He peered around the corner and watched as they disappeared into one of the rotting and condemned buildings of old New York, "the end of an era..." Spike thought to himself as his eyes scanned the alley for any more people or entrances. He looked back at John, gesturing at him to follow.

Spike found an old wooden fire exit door off to the side of the same building they entered. With a forceful kick, the door swung open to the pitch-black hallway. Taking the first step inside, all noise had been muted. Spike turned the tactical light on his rifle and cocked the breech back, pointing the barrel in the direction of what needed light and prepared himself to open fire.

As he crept along the long hallway and finding nothing out of the ordinary, he was about to give up his search when a distant thud interrupted his steps. He froze, his ears poking up to scan for any noises yet again. He sniffed the musty air for anything usual. Again, nothing.

"Did you hear that?" His words were barely audible to John. Spike had merely been moving his lips as he looked back. He took another step forward. His pounding heartbeat was louder than his boots against the floor. Finally, he called out into the black abyss.

"HELLO!? IS ANYONE THERE?" The silence was broken as his voice echoed on down the dark hallways and empty rooms. Again, he listened for a response. There was nothing but silence. He continued on for sometime, hoping to find any evidence of those they'd followed inside but had turned up nothing.

Spike's curiosity was beginning to be replaced by frustration and mild agitation. He turned back to John, "I'm starting to think we should just--" His word were cut off by another noise. It was the sound of pain. The coyote listened again.

Low groans and growls had resonated through the paint-peeling walls. Spike quickly pressed his ear to the wall nearest the door on his right. Confirming the positions of those behind the wall, he quickly looked back at John. He stepped away from the door and pointed at it's frame gesturing that they break it in...and quickly.

He positioned himself to the right of the door to charge inside after John kicked it in. "Do it." He whispered.

John Followed spike, his pistols drawn and his eyes moving and alert. When they walked into the building, he heard the moaning, and he looked at spike, and nodded, walking up to the door and in one swift movement, kicked the door open and immediately moved over to the left, and putting his back against the wall, and watched as spike ran in. Once he ran in, he followed, his pistol moving in every area that he could move it in, making sure that the area they were in was cleared of any threat until he moved on to the next room.

Kat licked her fingers carefully, the shredded remains of food packets littered over the kitchen table. She drank deeply from a bottle of water, cupped a handful of capsules, threw back her head and swallowed with a grimace. Breathing heavily she massaged her temple with her one good arm, the other held awkwardly against her chest, she wondered how the long the two would be gone.

Glancing warily from the door to the windows Kat stood and limped to the sink. Leaning over it she turned both taps to full, the water rushing into the steel basin. Grimacing again she tore open the clasp at her neck and, with a hiss of pain, she started to peel away her blackened flight suit from her shoulders. The white and black material pulled away to reveal grey fur, matted with blood where the suit had torn. She set to work cleaning her wounds, wincing with pain as the water ran red in the sink.

As the door is kicked open, Hikari merely jolts in her sleep and twitches. While breathing out, the deep growl could be heard again, but this time it was louder and more gutteral. Giving a slight murmur, she slowly begins to awaken with pain flaring across her face and torso.

The water in the steel basin ran red with blood, gurgling down the drain as Kat leaned over the sink to douse a cut in her shoulder under the taps. She grimaced as she worked, letting the water spatter off her blood-stained fur into the sink, the cut stinging. After a few moments under the cold water she pulled her shoulder back out then, shuddering, she turned her attention to her side. The left side of her flight suit was a mess of scrapes and tears, one large gouge in the white material showed a bloodied mess underneath, the edges of the cut blackened and scorched from the crash.

Kat unzipped the suit all the way down and slipped it over her shoulders, sliding her arms out of the scorched cloying fabric. She rolled her shoulders and stretched, wincing at the pain that flared all over from even that small movement, tugged the flight suit down to her waist leaving bare blood-matted fur. She winced. <'Incision in left side of abdomen appears deep - considered primary source of blood loss.'>  Her thoughts raced as she checked the wound, grimacing and fighting down the bile that rose in her throat. <'Internal bleeding can at least be removed as high possibility - Foreign metal fragments left in wound however...'>  With a shudder she pulled out a long shard of metal, bright crimson blood dripping from its blackened surface. <'... Require immediate removal. '>  She dropped the fragment into the sink and turned the taps on full again, blood blossoming through the water in the basin.

Phantom watched the feline clean her wounds, assessing the situation. Sighing, he played with a knife as he considered his options. First: he could totally ignore this girl and move on. Second: He could help her out, since she seemed to be losing a lot of blood and that hole in her side looked pretty nasty. Third... well, forget that choice, he's not going to randomly murder folks. Nodding to himself, he sheathed the knife and walked in.

"Need some help with that?"

(I'll help you soon, kitane o-o)

Kat winced, pulling another thin shard of steel from her side. Blood soaked her fingers as she worked, shivering slightly as the water ran cold down her bare chest and back, blood staining her light grey fur, burn marks covered her while grime and soot slowly washed away with the spattering water. Splashing the wound in her side with more freezing water she gripped the flight suit at her sides and slid it further down to her hips, exposing more of the bloodied gash down her side. Bile rose in her throat again as she peeled away the suit, matted blood in her fur.

She froze. An ear twitched, flicking behind her, the only sounds in the empty house was that of the water splashing into the steel basin and the barely audible noise of someone stepping carefully on floorboards. In an instant she moved like a coiled spring, pounced at the stranger like a feral animal and slammed him down to the ground. In the same fluid movement the hidden knife at her thigh drew with a rasp of steel and she pressed it hard into Phantom's throat. For a moment she paused, panting labored breaths, pain flared up her side and all over as her battered body protested at the movement. Her chest heaved with every breath as bloodied water dripped from her bare fur down onto Phantom.

Pressing the knife harder to the exposed flesh of his throat Kat glanced up at the hallway through the open kitchen door, searching for signs of John or Spike. Glancing back down she shoved hard with her forearm into his chest, pinning him down with surprising strength, she growled <"Tell me why I shouldn't kill you right here?"> Kat paused and looked into his eyes, anger in her own, though they also showed fear and panic. The language of the NC was harsh and strange, bearing some resemblance of pre-apocalypse Russian. She sighed and hung her head slightly, muttering in broken English "Who are you?"

Acting extremely calm and not just mentioning that he has neck protection, Phantom just looked back at her. "No one dangerous," he said. "I just want to help you patch yourself up..." He glanced over at his helmet, which had fallen off. "Could I retrieve my helmet, please? Then I can help you."

The blade emitted a low but ear-splitting screech as Kat pushed it further up Phantom's neck and up against the underside of his jaw. A very slight gouge was left in its wake. Kat seemed to give no heed for the armor protecting his neck as thoughts flew through her mind, her eyes flitting from his own gaze, to his armor, to the doorway. <Bodysuit underneath appears to be some Titanium Nanocomposite... Roughly equivalent to NC flight suit, mono-edged blade deemed able to pass through with ease... Outer armor possibly Titanium Alloy, blade may be able to penetrate with sufficient force... Not recommended that it be tested if possible> She stayed pinning him down, pushing his head up by the jaw, the edge of the blade hot to the touch under his chin, a slight drop of blood ran down its length as Kat trembled, clearly divided between whether to force the blade all the way up into his skull...

After a moment she slid the blade back, cautiously, her chest rising and falling as she watched him carefully. She nodded towards the helmet, but didn't speak as another wave of pain flared in her side. Gritting her teeth she pushed herself to her feet and turned back to the sink, arms trembling as she held herself above the blood-spattered basin. Her bare grey-furred back towards Phantom showed scratches and burn marks, the almost alien looking flight suit that hung around her waist scorched and battered.

Phantom carefully retrieved his helmet, keeping his eyes on her the whole time, then put it on, snapping it back into place. "Alright," he said, getting up and stepping over to where she was. "Hmm..." Being extremely careful, the cat looked over the wounds on Kat's back. "Well... for the most part, they're deep... but nothing serious, and your spinal cord isn't severed... now let's see..." He looked into the mirror to the effect that he was staring at her... though it was hard to tell through the gold-orange colored visor. "What kind of medical supplies do you have?"
Title: Re: Future New York

Kat kept turned away from Phantom as she slid the blade back into its hiding place, glancing at him in the mirror as he stepped up behind her. Arms trembling she huffed a small laugh and raised an eyebrow at his reflection. <"No... My spinal cord not severed... Or I doubt I would speaking to you now..."> She hissed as his fingers checked over the numerous cuts and burns on her back, gritting her teeth and shook her head.

Again her English was fractured and slow, a heavy accent in her voice as she leaned over the basin. <"What had... I already use..."> She glared at him, seemingly uncaring for the fact that she was stripped to the waist and covered in blood, in front of a stranger, but instead she itched to pull the pistol John had taken from her and kill him. It would have been easy, it was just what the NC did... She slumped slightly against the sink, a single tear dripping into the steel basin as she muttered. <"I am just... A pilot..."> She glanced up at Phantom, glaring with tears in her eyes even as she brushed them hastily away with a bloodied hand. <"I would rather have died than be left here...">

Phantom nodded, then pulled out some medical supplies and began applying them to the injuries that Kat couldn't reach. "Ok," he said. "Just talk to me while I do this, it'll help ease the..." He cocked an ear inside his helmet. "Wait... you're not alone.... there are others... hunting..." He sniffed the air. "Armed... and... and there's another one...." The cat paused. "I'll do something about that soon..." Finishing his train of thought, the armored man continued to treat Kat's wounds. "You're... not from around here, are you?"
Title: Re: Future New York
Post by: KittKat chunky~ on April 13, 2013, 06:57:26 PM
Kat gritted her teeth as Phantom set to work on her wounds, she trembled partly from the pain, partly because she was trusting this man, her back turned to him. Her training told her to dispatch him but her fear and pain told her that he was her only chance to stem the bleeding.

"No... I am not from around here... She sighed, wincing as he started to stitch up the wound in her side. She shifted slightly, exposing her side to him to make It easier. Grimacing she covered her chest with an arm, some instinct for decency overriding even her harsh training, she stared at Phantom reproachfully. "I am of the NC... We fight for no government... Nor de we fight for resistance... But I am not soldier... I fail the training, too weak they say, too soft to be true NC soldier... So they train me as pilot-" She winced as he pulled another stitch through her flesh, her ears flicking up when he mentioned others. She listened for a moment, wishing she had her own helmet, without it she felt just as helpless as without her pistol, it was her second set of senses, just like her flight suit was a her second skin, boh she had spent more time in than out during training.

Phantom nodded as he finished dressing Kat's wounds. "Alright...." He looks at her. "Well... i don't know about them, but if you could survive a plane crash, thenyou must be even tougher than their soldiers..." He checks her over. "Hmm... Someone took something from you, didn't they? There's a holster... but no pistol..." He looked up at her. "I could get it back for you."
Title: Re: Future New York
Post by: KittKat chunky~ on April 14, 2013, 01:06:46 AM
She gave another hiss as he finished with the last of the wounds, glaring at him like a wild animal with no comprehension of the help it was being given. She shook her head ruefully "No..." Wrinkling her nose she stared at him, clutching her broken arm in its strap-like brace to her chest, she cocked her head to one side slightly. "I am tough, yes... Tougher than the weaklings that inhabit this city... But NC soldiers are strong... They are the best... I say they kill you easily..." Her English was again broken and at times difficult to understand. What words made sense were sometimes twisted with odd inflections until they were almost different words entirely, and she spat the language out like it left a bad taste in her mouth.

Kat sighed and stared at Phantom, her helplessness suddenly showing as she stood dripping with water and blood, her bare grey fur matted and filthy. She stared with piercing blue eyes, an almost alien stare as she muttered. "I survive by luck... The last flip of aircraft crashed it tail down, killing most of team I am meant to... to..." She paused a moment, motioning vaguely with her free hand as though grasping for the right word. "Transport, I think you say In your barbaric language... And I was not the only survivor... I kill the other, even as he crawled to safety. I shoot him... Because he would do same to me..."

Her gaze never left Phantom's, even as he pointed to the empty holster. She shrugged, but her words seemed half strangled as though she was having trouble saying what she felt. "John has it... He saved me so I... Trust him..." Again she cocked her head to one side and stared at him, crossing her arms defensively around herself. "Why do you... help me? I do not ask for help... I try to kill you, I still want to kill you... But still you helped me..." She glared, almost angry "Why?"

Phantom removed his helmet and looked at Kat with large blue eyes. "Because," he said. "If I have a choice... I prefer to help people rather than just kill them." He shrugged and put the helmet back on. "Anyway, you should be fine... I have to go find the other person here... you're not the only one who's hurt, and your friends might not think the same way I do." He gave a gentle bow, then walked out of the room, one hand on his combat knife... just in case of one of those less redeemable characters showed up before he reached this "John" and the other person...

Kat watched as Phantom left, leaving her alone in the middle of the kitchen, dripping cold water onto the tiles. The kitchen was a mess, food packets littered around, blood spattered over the sink and worktop, pieces of blood-stained gauze and thread from where Phantom had patched her up. She tied the arms of her flight suit around her waist, glancing to the doorway nervously. Her wounds still needed fresh air, covering them up so quickly with the flight suit would only de-oxygenation the cuts and possible cause further infections with the amount of grime and dirt on it.

She sighed and limped back to her room, leaving a trail of bloody pawprints as she went, clutching her broken arm to her chest, a breeze running through the house ruffling her bare fur. She pushed open the door with her shoulder and walked in, slumped against the wall just inside the room, sliding down and grimacing at the pain that flared everywhere like a hundred knives. She stared up at the ceiling, cracks in the plaster like a sprawling map of a city and she clenched her eyes shut, holding back the tears as she muttered under her breath in the flowing language of the NC <"Why did I have to survive?">

Entering the building that he felt the disturbance coming from, Phantom searched around until he heard noises coming from an upper floor. The armored cat shrugged noncommitally. "Just a wanderer, I guess," he said. "Pretty much the last of any sort of militia this sea board had..." He extended a hand to john, removing his helmet. "Just call me Phantom. My real name's not really important until it becomes so, and frankly I prefer my callsign."

Hikari twitches in John's grasp, her breathing slightly irregular from how it had been before. She jolts slightly in her unconscious form, never awakening just yet.

Kat pulled herself to her feet, standing shakily in the middle of the room. Everything was spinning... Fighting down the bile that rose in her throat she stumbled over to the bed, scrabbling through what medical supplies she still had left. Clutching her side she gulped down tablets and clutched the side of the bed trying to keep steady. <Blood loss reached critical levels, however bleeding presumed to be stopped... Chance of remaining conscious calculated at >46% ... Chance of recovery... still... being calculated...> Thoughts and calculations that normally flew through her mind like she was taking a mental stroll now crawled by, fighting to think as the room swam and blurred in and out of focus.

With what strength she had left Kat picked up her helmet, turned it over in her hands. It was collapsed down until it could barely even be called a helmet, merely a folded back piece that clipped around the neck and under the jaw, the sides of the helmet running up her jaw to the base of her ears, and up around the back where the visor and rest of the helmet folded away. At the press of a minute switch the helmet reformed, panels sliding over and under each other with a hiss of pneumatic gas. The visor was the last to slide down, faceless alloy painted with now scorched and scratched white paint and the markings of her flight unit in dark orange. Inside the helmet a softscreen lit up, readouts and data scrolling past. She took a deep breath of the filtered air in the helm and sighed... This felt better...

Turning her head this way and that, Kat looked like she was blind behind the blank metal visor, for there were no visible vision slits or lenses. Inside however a view of the room traced out in flickering blue lines, zooming out past the walls to the corridor beyond with only a thought, zooming past this again to the streets outside, heat signatures blossomed in reds and oranges, sound data and movement registered and processed in this digital world. She looked to where several figures walked towards the house, one carried in the arms of the other, their heat signature waning compared to the others...

John Looks Up At The Man And Narrows His Eyes,"Militia? Is That why You Know So Much?" He Dragged Her Up The Steps Of The House And Sat Her Down Against The Door, Standing Up And Turning, Grabbing The Man And Spinning Around, Slamming Him Into The Wall Of The Apartment, And In One Swift Movement, Drawing A Knife And Putting It To The Mans Throat,"Why Shouldn't I Kill You Right Now? You Militua Scum Would Do It To Me... And Any One Who Oppises You, So Give Me One Good Reason Why I Shouldn't Off You Right Now? Make It Quick, My Hand Might Slip And Hit Your Jugular." He Stood There, The Knife Up To The Mans Throat, Pressing The Blade To His Neck, Making A Slight Cut Drawing A Little Blood.

Phantom stared back at him. "I know because your other friend told me," he said. "And by militia, i mean I'm really the only guy who still wears some sort of a uniform... apparently my humor sucks. Thirdly, I don't kill people unless they go after a good person or are just downright evil. And to answer the last part..." The cat looked downwards. "I think the knife that could cut your balls off a split second before you kill me or disarm me is a good reason you should back off. Plus, i'm wearing neck armor, so you can't really hurt me where you have the knife right now, wheras I could castrate you." Phantom looked right at John and said, "Now can we please be civilized?"

John growls and pushes off the man and turns around, walking away a few steps, sheathing his knife," Jerk..." He looked at the ground and closed his eyes," What do you want with me? To kill me like the rest of the world? Or do you have some sick twisted thing you want to do to me.."

Phantom sighed. "What the hell is wrong with you?" he asked. "Can't a guy just try to help without being physically threatened anymore?" He leaned in close and whispered right into John's ear. "I. JUST. WANT. TO. HELP. YOU. OUT." He backed away. "Do you get that? I'm not one of those other perverted guys you normally find among the militia. I'm actually decent."

"Decent? Why Do You Know So Much About Me Then? And Why Do You Want To Help Me Out So Much? I Did Nothing To Get That, If Anything, You Should Kill Me On The Spot For What I Did." He Stood There, His Arms Crossed Over His Chest.

Phantom raised an eyebrow. "I don't know what you did..." The cat shrugged and put his helmet back on. "Look... All I know is that you saved that girl... who also tried to kill me... and now you're saving this one too." He chuckled. "I don't care what you did... you seem like a pretty decent guy right now, and I want to help you."

(thank you)

Hikari moved slightly but remained unconscious. She was breathing fine, but with a small complication: her nostrils were full of dried blood. Her jaws are slightly parted, her breathing steady for now.

Zak walked through the alleyway with all the silence he could muster, after all he weighed a solid 230 lbs. He was deep inside Militia turf searching for spare parts, word was that they had a garage a few blocks in, and he was getting close.
"Damned patrols..." He muttered as more Militia walked down the street. Walking up to a locked door he stopped, looked around to be sure he was away from prying eyes and put an ear up to the door. His informants said that this was the place, and they were right. Because as soon as he began listening he was rewarded with the sound of voices, chatter about scavenged parts and what they were going to do with them.
"Bingo." Zak said with a smile as he unholstered his 1911. He took a deep breath and kicked in the door. It fell to the floor with a crash as Zak rushed in, he had successfully surprised the guards. Which resulted in them being knocked unconscious and then disposed of. He knew he had to be quick, he rushed around the garage grabbing what he could and shoving it into his duffel bag. And as soon as he came, he was gone. Leaving two more dead and a lot of parts missing. It took him three hours to make it back to his small base, an apartment with a small garage in the first floor where he was trying to build a humvee of sorts. After organizing his new material he walked upstairs and fell onto the old couch.
"Just another day in paradise." He said with a sigh.
"Just another day, in paradise."

Zak awoke from his nap, he dreamed of many things. Mostly what life would be like without this war... And, of course the reason he was fighting it to begin with. He stood up and stretched, filling a thermostat with water from his rain filter. After taking a long sip he walked into the bedroom, where he would stand guard for hours on end, protecting the only thing he had left.
After a few minutes he walked over to the window, pulling across his blackout curtains he looked down onto the streets, a no man's land of wreckage and dust, and today thankfully, not a soul wandered that street. However, he had the eerie feeling that soon enough that would change. His primal instincts kicked in resulting in him pulling up a seat, and watching that road for hours. In the silence so loud that a pin drop would have been the equivalent of a bull in a china shop. The dusty old apartment slowly disappeared around him, until it was as if all he could see were the figures that weren't there, and smell the scent of the enemies that felt so near. And in this paranoid mindset, he waited.

Kat walked slowly through the empty hallways of John's house, feet creaking over the floorboards. She turned her helmeted head slowly to each side as she crept, like a blind animal questing slowly forwards. The featureless front of her flight-suit helmet masked the flood of sensory information that she could really see. Walls melted away into creeping lines of blue light, a grid-line pattern of lines and data stretched out under her fingertips, heat signatures, the tiniest hints of sound. Compared to this the real world was dark, uncertain and hidden.

Clutching her broken arm to her chest she stepped carefully up to the wall closest to the door. On the other side the three heat signatures pulsed brightly and the sound of conversation crackled in the cool confines of her helmet. Silently she crouched, like a hunting animal ready to leap, her head cocked slightly to one side and her tail swished over the floor. Her chest rose and fell slowly with each steady breath, the material of her flight suit close over her figure like a second skin as she crouched in the shadows of the front room.

<"Why Do You Want To Help Me Out So Much?... All I know... tried to kill me...care what you did... Kill Me On The Spot For What I Did...I want to help you..."> Listening intently she deciphered what she could from the archaic English they used. Nothing like the NC dialect she knew, it seemed brash and harsh. But soon she turned her attention instead to the third silent heat signature, pulsing through the mesh of blue lines that made up the wall. Possibly female, the life signatures were waning. She stood slowly and glanced back from where she had come; looking to the spot she had already located where she could break out into the side-street beyond to escape, then looked back to the three heat signatures outside the front of the house. Face lit harshly by the data-screens inside the interior of her helmet Kat bit her lip and frowned, tail swishing indecisively.

Zak snapped out of his daze and pulled the blackout curtains closed, it was late and he was getting tired. And gaurd duty while exhausted wasn't accomplishing anything. He layed his AK-47 next to the bed and crawled underneath the blankets. He sighed and closed his eyes, wondering what trials he would awake to face next: Starvation, execution, capture, murder in the night. The possibilities were endless. But regardless of everything, he passed out in a few minutes.

He Nodded, HiS Expression Growing Soft And He Looked Down, Closing His Eyes,"Alright.... Come On... I'm Sorry, I Was Just.... Don't Know Who To Really Trust These Days..." He Looked Up At The Man, And He Opened The Screen Door, inserting The Key Into The Lock, And Opening The Main Door, Picking Up Hikari, And Walking into The house. He Put Hikari Down On The Living Room Couch, And He Walked Around To The Kitcken And Froze, Noticing The Mess Of Food Wrappers, And The Bloodie Water, Immediatly Going Over ToKat's Room, A Look Of Concern On His face,"Kat?"

Kat froze, kneeling in the shadows of the front room. She could see John's heat signature in the corridor just through the wall, standing in the doorway to her room. Her head slowly flicked from him to the escape route she had planned. For several moments she stayed still and silent, chest rising and falling with every slow breath. Across her vision data flowed between the matrix-like view of the house, the life signs of the girl now on the living room couch and the other man, Phantom, beside her. Despite the cool air that ran through her helmet sweat beaded across her forehead, glinting in the harsh blue light of her visor HUD.

<"I'm here..."> Slowly she stepped out into the corridor behind John, her voice issuing from the visor sounding slightly distorted, almost alien. She stood silently, the featureless visor of her helmet betraying no emotion, seemingly blind behind it she could see every aspect of him, in any wavelength of light or sound she desired. For some perhaps such an invasion of privacy would have been startling, but for her this was the way to see the world, without the shadows to hide in. She sighed and turned away from him. Walking into the living room, she clutched her broken arm to her chest, knelt beside the girl laid out on the couch. <"Her life signs are dropping... I assume you want her alive, rather than dead? That seems to be the thing you do... As much as I seem unable to understand it..."> Kat slowly looked over her body, a biological imaging scan overlayed in her visor showing the major signs of tissue damage. She sighed and flipped the faceless visor up and over her head, grimacing at the stench of blood after the cool interior of the helmet.

Phantom got some bandages and set up a small medical area while Katka checked Hikari over. "It's alright, John," he said. "I do tend to stir mistrust in others, since I hardly show my face..." He noticed Katka's arm and made a mental note to take care of that later. "Alright... let's fix her up," he said, pulling out a needle and surgical thread just in case.

John Sighs As He Hears katka Voice. HeWatches Her Look Over Hikari, And He Closed His Eyes Leaning Against A Wall, Crossing His Arms Over His Chest,"Yeah... Man Today Has Been One HeCk Of A Day..." He Looked At Katka And Slides Down The Wal, Sitting Down Against It, And Breathing Deeply, Trying To Think Clearly,"What The Hell Have I Gotten Myself Into..."

Kat looked up, having not made a move to actually lay a finger on Hikari. She stared at Phantom for a moment, blue eyes expressionless, then sighed. <"She has... numerous, ehm... breakages... across the body... None are too serious, and you seem to have the main injuries under control..."> She still spoke in the same fractured English, spitting the words out like they tasted foul as she looked over Hikari with her cold gaze. For a while she sat crouched next to the couch, glancing between Hikari and the blue flickering heads-up-display that still showed in her flipped up visor, frowning.

With sudden ferocity she grabbed Hikari by the chin, twisting her head to the side. To all intents it looked like she was trying to snap the girl's neck as Kat leaned over her, ears flicking. Kat forced open her mouth, sticking her fingers in and lifting back her tongue. Then with a growl she snatched a swab from Phantom's first aid kit, cleaning away the dried blood from in and around her nostrils, putting her ear close to Hikari's muzzle to check for normal breathing. With the same expressionless look Kat stood back to her feet and dropped the bloodied swab by Phantom, nodding <"Her life signs showed trouble inhaling... You seemed intent on her living, so I deemed it acceptable to step in..."> With that she walked over to the wall beside John, slumping against it and sliding down to his level with her back against the wall, though she kept a good meter distance between them. She sighed and clutched her broken arm to her chest, glancing across at him shrewdly.

Joh. Jumped And Almost Went To Tackle Her To The Ground When He Saw What She Was Doing To Hikari, But He Stopped Himself When He Actually Realized What She Was Doing. He Sighed And Closed His Eyes, And Smiled Slightly When She Explained What She Did. He Heard Ger Walk Over Amd Sit Down Next To Him, ButWhen He Looked Over, He Saw She Still Kept A Distance. Phantom jumped at first as Katka went to help Hikari, then relaxed as he saw her intentions. "It's alright, Kat," he said, continuing to work on Hikari. "I was only a bit startled...." As he was stitching up a long wound in her arm, he looked up at John briefly. "Well, Katka sure keeps things interesting, doesn't she?" he said.
