1st and 3rd gen all the way, with a few from 2nd.
I'm really anticipating the new one coming out in october. It seems they have actually worked on the design on the pokemon, taking on the theme "Woodlands"

Especially looking forward to the fire starter :P

I love all the gens, but I'm a Gen V junkie for sure.

I'm one of the biggest Pokemon followers you'll find. More for the games, however. I own at least one game from each released generation, and I love all of them. My favorite generation is three, despite the shoddy "type = special/physical move" system. Still, Emerald and Firered are my two most-played Pokemon games, as I've played them pretty much once every week on average since they were released in their respective years.

Oh, and I have quite the plethora of Charizards.

They are my favorite.

Pokemon.

Ever.

I'm with, Sytex here. I've followed the games since they've come out and though my interest has waxed and waned I've still managed to wind up with a game from each generation as well. Before gen V, gen II and IV were actually my favorite generations. Gen II felt like a big step ahead for the series and gen IV was able to revitalize my whole interest in the series. However, with gen V, everything feels just right. Tons of people complain about the designs, but honestly I love em all  XD  I'm really looking forward to seeing how Pokemon X and Y turn out! Kinda bummed there's so few new pokemon being brought in as compared to when black and white first came out, but alas.

Last year decided to spent a few hours on Gold and Emerald again, especially gold, so much nostalgia haha.
Anyway, I used one of those simulators (forgot the exact name) so I was able to play it on mi pc.
No more troubles with red gameboy lights, my god the bliss.

::edit::
They were called emulators (a)
