Title: Heroes: Rising
Post by: Luke White-Heart on October 24, 2012, 01:51:59 PM
The quiet night seemed to press down on Luke. The silence seemed almost tangible, as if he could reach out and tear it from the very air. He shook his head, trying to clear it. He had to keep moving, or else...well, he wasn't sure what would happen, but he figured running from it was better than actually finding out.
The crisp, mountain air filled Luke's lungs as he began to jog down the mountainside. It was tiring work, but he eventually found himself at the edge of a small town. Luke didn't like going into towns, not after what had happened. But he knew he had to; he was tired and hungry. He stopped into a small cafe, ordered a plate of mashed potatoes, a small coffee, and water. Then, as the food was brought to him, a woman entered th cafe and sat down across from him. His eyes went wide.
"Don't make any sudden movements, this place is surrounded," she said softly, "They will not hesitate to shoot."
"Go ahead," said Luke, a growl forming in his throat. "I'm not afraid to die. In fact i almost welcome..." But she cut him off.
"Oh, no you misunderstand me. They won't shoot, YOU. No, they'll shoot EVERYONE else in this cafe. And, if that doesn't stop you, they'll move on." Her voice was sickeningly sweet as she said this, and Luke knew she wasn't lying. He knew her too well. She had him trapped, and she knew it. Unless...he smirked. She had never been a very good strategist.
"But, what happens if i do this?"
Suddenly, she was lifted into the air, then smashed to the floor, knocking her out. Using his mind, he brought her into his arms, using her as a human shield. Luke stood in front of the window for a few seconds, making sure to show it off to the shooters, then made his way as quickly as he could through the back door.
After what felt like hours, he dropped her body and ran, changing directions every few kilometers. His breath came in ragged gulps, but he didn't stop. He couldn't stop. He could never stop.

Bent over into the stream she kept her bucket at the current, slowly filling them. It was hard work every day, but it was peace. Out here nobody bothered her, and she lived as she wished, and practiced. Noticing they they have sinked she sighed and pulled them out by the handles onto the soil. Producing a metal rod she slid it through the bucket handles and slung it over her shoulder. With each one it balanced each other out and allowed easier carrying.
Turning away from the stream she walked to her little nook hidden under a dead tree. She liked the wild, But here in America was allot different from her home. It was mostly always warm here, and so far the only snow she saw was just a light snow compared to Russia. With a sigh she huffed the pole back up as it threatened to slide down her back. Just then her ear perked up. Turning to her right he was far too close to react with the buckets and pole on her shoulders.
With him slamming into her she fall back with the water spilling everywhere. With a grunt she fell on her back with her head hitting the ground hard. Dazed she looked around trying to find something to bring herself up. Once the blurriness went away she spotted her attacker with a flared anger. "What do you think your doing?! Running into me like that!" She yelled at the man as she sat up rubbing the back of her head.

In a nearby tree, Lark watched with interest, her green eyes piercing the semi-darkness, aided by her other senses.
[What's going on down there?] she thought, scratching an ear.

Luke just lay there, face first in the dirt. Some girl had come out of nowhere as he had tried tomake his way through the forest, and now he lay there, panting. He looked up at the girl and tried to form words, but he was barely getting enough oxygen to breathe, let alone talk. So he held up a paw while he caught his breath, partially to keep her from talking...and partially to blast her away should the need arise.

"I was...*pant*...running from...*pant*...and they...*pant*...when I...*pant*...who ARE you?" Luke finally managed.

Claire had heard the yelling from her camp not far away from the river. She had stopped to give he horse Nightwing a rest. She ran towards the commotion to find a girl on the ground soaked head to toe with a man laying next to her panting. She walked up to them hands resting on her hips, wind blowing throu her hair that hung under her cowgirl hat. "Everything alright here?" She said with a slight souther accent. The mist coming from the river felt good on her legs but with the chilled night wind she was regreting wearing her shorts and open back top. But she couldn't resist showing off he gourgeous pink fur and white spots as well as her long legs.

Standing up she glared at the man as he hunched over breathing hard. With the sound of dripping she felt her fur get damp almost all over as the water soaked through her cloths. With a growl she continued to yell, not caring for his pants of breath. "Great! Now I'm soaked!" She growled shaking her hands as a little water sprays off of her. "Who am I?" She repeated your question with anger in her tone. "The question is what are you doing running into people you don't even know!" She yelled picking up her pole and looking for her buckets. With a growl she spots them and returns her gaze upon you as you slowly stand back up returning her stare.

Tanya was sitting behind the wheel of a truck with a cargo of cushions in her trailer. It was late already and she should get some rest but she didn't want to stop too close to L.A.
Another half hour later she'd spent listening to music the Thel was far enough and parked her vehicle on a desgnated parking lot. Too tired to walk and since her wings had been unused for the past few days she spread them and took off with her rucksack on her back.
For once she wanted to sleep in a real bed and found a motel nearby.
Dressed in black jeans and a white t-shirt she landed in front of the building. Looking around to make sure there was nothing out of the ordinary she entered and asked for a room.
Though the owner questioned her she didn't answer a single one. She was happy when she could leave the smoky room to breathe fresh air again.
Hurriedly she walked to her room, unlocked the door and entered after a last glance around and locked the door when she was inside.

She dropped her backpack on the bed and took out her clothes and laptop.
Booting up the computer she undressed and went to the bathroom to take a quick shower. It was refreshing and she felt the tiredness seep into her blue striped body.
A noise alerted her to something but when she came into the main room it was empty. Nothing seemed to be amiss.
Shaking her head and lifting an eyebrow she continued drying her mane with the towel.
After getting dressed in a long wide t-shirt the Thel got comfortable on the bed to check her emails but before she got to it she fell asleep.

Claire approched the soaked girl. "Now take it easy there. Let the man catch his breath, he looks like he just tried to race a wild stallion on foot. Now I'm Claire, what's your name darlin'?" She wraped the jacket that she had carried with her around the shivering girl. "There better?"

Moving quietly, Lark leapt to a tree closer to the other furries, trying to get a better look. However, just then, her accelerated probability powers started glitching, and she ended up on a limb that couldn't support her weight.
"EEP!" the cat screamed, falling through the air to land on something soft and warm...

With all the commotion Katelyn escapes from the shuffle with her staff and her temper in check. Into the night she treads back to her hidden home, hopefully un noticed. Weaving around corners and through brush she looks back every so often, making sure she has not been followed till she stops at a large dead oak tree. The trunk went half way up only to die and wither away into nothingness, the lower half of the old dead oak tree grew into a massive root system that stretched along the ground to burry into the ground. Placing a hand on one of the massive roots the root shook and moved revealing a secret hidden room under the tree. Stepping inside she inhales the air with a sigh of relief and closes the way she came. Setting down her empty buckets with a small sigh.

Luke got up and disted himself off. This wasn't good, he needed to get moving. They could find him so easily here, and he was putting the others at risk. "This is all very nice," he said, "But i need to get going. It's not safe for me here."
He began walking away.

Once inside she looks around at her home, long has she lived here and much has it changed sience her first find. The room in general has been swept multple times with rushes placed on the floor. There was a single source of light that came through the hallo oak tree stomp creating a brocken circular light  in the middle of the room. To her right was a simple bed made of roots and to the left a basin of water and varous shelfs with provisions. Across from her her training section stood, with many metals and materials. And behind her a shelfs of varous sizes, all seemingly trash picked. And around the entire area a few chimes hung, made of twisted metal. It was home, and she was glad to be back.
Walking to the middle she placed a few logs in the middle bon fire, there she brough it to life with a flint stone and watched it flare up bringing the room to life. Looking up she saw the smoke rise up through the old dead oak tree into the open air.

Lark blushed. "I'm not that pretty... and my name is Lark," she said, accepting Claire's paw. "So..." She suddenly noticed Luke walking away. "Hey, wait, sir!" she said, running over to and in front of him, blocking his path. "Who are you?"

"Someone you need to get far away from," said luke to the girl in front of him. He gently shoved her aside with his mind, then began jogging as fast as he could. As he jogged through the forest, Luke saw smoke rising in the horizon. He knew he shouldn't, but his heart would't let him walk away from someone in danger. Luke altered his course, heading for the smoke. He figured the best way to see the cause and any survivors would be to get up high, so he hopped up on a tree branch, then climbed up higher. Luke then sped through the trees. Soon, he came upon a small bonfire, with a dark figure sitting close to it.
Dammit. And here I thought someone was in trouble, Luke thought. Suddenly, something cracked beneath him.
"Oh, shi--" He fell, smacking branch after branch, but before he hit the ground, he created a telekinetic bundle, cushioning his fall. But, his concentration faltered, and he hit the ground.

Hearing something her ear perked up. in time to cover her head as part of her roof caved in. With a loud thud and crash her area where she kept her food was destroyed. Looking over at it she growled to herself grabbing her spear as a figure was visable from the carnage. Gripping the spear it molded into a sword in her hand, the endge razor sharp. "You should not of done that!" She yelled at the figure pointing her sword.

Another noise woke the Thel and she realized immediately that she wasn't on the Motel anymore. One of the indications being the fact that her arms and legs were bound.
She knew she had her eyes open bit she couldn't see a thing in this pitch black room. It frightened her to death since she had always been able to see in the dark sue to her tiger genes.
Feeling the cold metal of her restraints against her wrists and ankles she pulled at them but they didn'g budge an inch.
"What's going on here?" she asked straining to get free. "Why can't I see a thing?"
For a split second she thought about changing her form but squashed it at once. She'd decided never to change again and she would stick to that promise.
"Let me go!" she screamed pulling at her bindings with all her might but to no avail.
Without warning a blinding light was switched on right into her face and it was too much to take for her. She lost consciousness.

"Say Claire, do you have a weapon of some sort?" she asked.

When Tanya woke the next time the light had been dimmed. She could now see that she was in a lab and her deepest fear came out.
Someone knew she had the power to shape shift and that was not good... not good at all.
What was she supposed to do now? How could they know?
Looking around she was trying to free herself again but realized that she wouldn't get out this way. Strength wasn't her power after all.
The Thel knew from the pitch black darkness earlier that this room was sealed so it wouldn't really help to change.
Closing her eyes she took deep breaths going through her forms in her mind to find one that could help in any way.
'Goat maybe but then I could kill myself as well. Bee... even more defenceless than the Goat. Peacock... maybe I could PECK them to death with my beak,' she thought. 'Cobra... is a good one... smaller than the Thel and I have poison to defend myself.'

Concentrating she closed her eyes and her fur started to change into black and orange scales; her body became smaller more sleek and her paws slipped from the restraints without effort. Her mane vanished replaced by the hood of a cobra and her head grew smaller becoming that of a snake.
She was anthro of course with arms and legs but also the long tail of a snake. Her slitted tongue darted out to smell the air as she got up off the chair she had been bound to.

She was not a killer, but did it when necessary. Growing up was hard, and it toughened her up, but she couldn't kill him for just being reckless. Lowering her sword some her eyes moved away from you looking at the debree that now surrounded what was left of her food. Most of her previsions where now destroyed or tainted from the dust and grime that filled the air. With a low growl she retorted, "And what do I do for food now? You landed in what I had left..." With a sigh she threw her sword to the ground, burring it in the ground in between your legs. Placing her hands on her head she ran her fingers through her hair grunting and turning away from you, walking towards the middle now shaking her head slightly as the dust started to settle.

Luke looked down, and saw the destruction he had caused.
"I'm so sorry," he said. "Um...i came from a small town a mile or two from the edge of this forest. You could replenish there..." But he knew she couldn't or wouldn't. Looking down, he reached out with his mind and felt the destroyed provisions. Lifting them up with his mind, he dusted off the one that could be saved, then tried to salvage what he could.
"I know it's not much," he said, "But i'll help you get back what i destroyed. It's the least i can do, considering it's my fault."
He would normally never show off his ability, but he had had a lapse of reason that had made him act without thinking.
"Umm...you didn't see that, did you?"

Nodding slowly she walked infront of you, reaching down for her sword. Pulling it free she took a step back looking at you as her sword started to change. The metal rippled in her grasp as it took on a new look, molding and folding into the same metal rod you saw before. Holding it out she looked it over, as if it was foreign to her, Every time she did it, it fascinated her.
"Thats just the tip of the iceberg..." She says quietely.

Luke stared in amazment at the spear which, seconds before, had been a sword. He looked at her, then smiled slightly. Reaching out, he touched the spear with his mind. He could feel the ridges and grooves. Lightly, he lifted from her grasp and let it hover in the air for a second, then began to spin and twirl it with his mind.

Standing there she tilted her head up, staring at her spear twerling in mid air. With her mouth open slightly she tracks it with her eyes. With her right ear twitching she looks back down at you shaking her head slightly in agreement. "What is it called... telekensis?"

Luke looked back at her, smiling at the amazement he saw in her eyes, for it was the same amazement he felt.
"Yeah," he said, in almost a whisper. "I discovered it a long time ago. It's a peculiar sensation. But I've never heard of anyone being able to turn a sword into a spear! What would you even call that?"
He floated the spear gently back into her waiting paws.

Grabbing hold of it she only smiled a little to herself. How hard she has worked to stay hidden from the world, all the people she lost and none of them like she was. But walking to the river to fetch water she finds one other person, the odds.... "I don't know... Never though of a name really. But its more then just that." Holding it out it ripples again almost moving like a snake in and out of itself, forming elaborate shapes only to return to a spear. "I mold matter." She said simply.

Luke stared in awe. He had never EVER met another, as he called them "meta", before. He sat on the floor, bewildered. But then, another thought entered his mind. She's in danger. And putting her in even greater peril by just being around her! he thought. I have to get out of here.
"Before they find me," he said out loud, standing.

Luke looked around, fearing everything. He saw enemies everywhere. His old anxiety was returning; he had to run, to escape. "I have to get out of here. You should run, too. They'll probably be here soon."
He ran outside...only to find the tree surrounded by Company Guards.
"Damn."

He blasted them away, as far away as he could muster, but the ones he missed rushed him.

Squinting her eyes she intercepts the man bringing her spear imbetween his legs and turning him onto his back. Bringing her spear to his throat he stares up at her, almost pleading as he caughs from the impact. Bringing her spear away she looks back at you. "Follow me." Darting off into the trees she looks back at you seeing if you where following.

Luke heard the command, but did not immediatly respond or comply. He had to get these goons away, slow them down somehow. He looked around, and saw a large, dead-looking tree to his left. Thinking quickly, Luke reached out to it with his mind, feeling the rough bark in his thoughts. He began pulling on it, tearing it down as fast as he could. As it began to fall, he dashed off to follow the girl.

Running through the woods the trees soon thickied to the point where they where eaving and ducking under low handing brush.  Jumping over small revenes and crossing shallow cricks. The tract was rough, but she knew it like the back of her hand, and led them the safest way untill they apeared along a clif. Taking a step forward she looks down at the opsite face and walks a few feet to the right of it and points. "There is a cave down here, I have a few emergency supplys. But it wont last two people for long." That said she started her decend down the cliff with make-shift holes and pockets she forced out of the rock with her power, creating an easy rock climbing wall effect.

Luke looked down the cliff. They would never make it to the cave in time. Without a word, he grabbed the girl, then jumped off the cliff. Before they hit the ground, he created a telekinetic cushion that slowed their fall. The girl still looked somewhat terrified, but they had no time. Without pausing, he took her arm and ran to the cave.

Just as she started to descend she felt her body being pulled away from the cliff edge. Gripping the rock it slipped through her fingers as she plummeted to the ground. With a small eep, the landing was softened by an invisible cushion. Now standing she took a second as her legs stop trembling. "There." She said pointing at a small cave entrance, barely noticeable behind a thick shrub. Walking inside there is a single crate at the back and an old bon fire in the middle.

Inside the cave, Luke looked around. It was small, but not uncomfortably so. A bonfire burned in the center, and a crate, he assumed full of supplies, was sitting against a wall. He peeked out of the smaal entrance to see if they were being followed. When he saw no one, hecollapsed onto the ground, allowing himself a moment to relax. It occured to Luke that he didn't know this girl's name.
"Okay, now that we've been thoroughly introduced, my name is Luke," he said, somewhat out of breath.

Walking inside she walks straight for the crate popping the lid. "Katelyn." She says flatly. With the lid off she tosses it aside and rummages through the crate dumping a few jars covered in plastered salt along with dried meat. There was also a basic survival tools, a knife, flint stone, a few herbs, and a picture. Pulling it out last she takes a deep breath tucking it under her clothing to keep safe. Turning her attention back to the Luke she glares at him. "I think you owe me an explanation."

Luke sat up, shoulders slumped. He knew this was coming, and he always hated this part.He turned to face Katelyn.
"Alright, well i might as well start at the beginning. Get comfortable, 'cause it's a long story. It all started a few years ago, when my ability first developed. These people came to me and said they wanted to study me. There was this guy with horn-rimmed glasses and this Haitian, and they took some blood, did some tests, gave me a couple challenges. They said they could help me develop my powers. Then...well, i met this girl there. She said she had a power, but she never showed it to me. The Company had just sent her to learn about me under the radar. When i found out what they were REALLY upto, i ran. And i've been on the run ever since. They're trying to capture me, study me, disect me, all that good stuff. They must have found me. I have no idea how."
He gave Katelyn a look, then asked, "What about you? What's your story?"

Sitting down she brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. Staring into the fire she only sighed and began her tale. "Mine started when I was about nine. I lived in Russia. Over the years I have kept it secret, but... Things got complicated when my parents found out. They shunned me. So I ran away. But I didn't want to stay home so I came to the "Land of Opportunity.""....
"Pfft. Much good this place is,... After many failed attempts of having a normal life I just decided to live in these woods. But I cant do that now..." With a sigh she slumped her back staring into the flames as they danced before her, casting her shadow against the cave wall behind her.

Luke moved over to her and, not sure how to comfort her, he settled for patting her shoulder.
"I'm sorry."
But he didn't think she would accept the apology. He had destroyed her home, made her leave it, led the Company right to her door, and now she was going to be on the run. Just like him. No friends, no family...nothing. Suddenly, he felt the loneliness he surpressed come crashing over him.
"You could come with me," he said, without meaning to. Damn that loose jaw! he thought, mentally kicking himself.

Feeling his touch on her shoulder she did not flinch, granting him a sigh from her lips. Perking her ears slightly at his offer she pondered it. She was always alone through her life, not much of a peoples person, but then again, nobody was like her. But this was different, he knew what she felt, he has been down the same rode. With a slow nod she said. "I guess I can tag along... Nothing left for me back home anyways." Reaching behind herself she grabbed one of the pieces of dried meat and took a bite, it tasted much like jerky as it was smoke cooked, then salted to keep fresh for long periods of time. Chewing silently she brought her legs down into a cross-legged position to eat better.

Luke sighed with relief. It would be good to have company on the road. Being on the run was a lonely business. He watched Katelyn eat for a moment, then moved over to the cave's entrance.
The sky was darkening, and he decided to take the first watch. The fire popped merrily behind him, and the stars twinkled into existance in the sky, like celstial eyes opening for the first time. Unconsciously, he pulled three small rocks from the inner pocket of his duster, then spun them in a circle over his palm. He softly hummed a lullaby to himself, one he never knew where he learned it from, but seemed burned into his brain. The rocks bobbed in time with the lullaby, and his mind quieted. He sat stone-like, images of pale blue wallpaper flying through his mind, of a man and woman, of a white tail that refused to stop moving so he could catch it. He purred a little, then continued to hum, his own tail swishing with the beat. A sense of longing fell over him, and the scar over his right eye seemed to burn.
Luke had the great urge to howl, but he surpressed it, and instead settled for slumping on a wall. He saw needles, the man and woman crying as they grew smaller, and all the while he heard the cry "NO!! HELP ME!!!"

The snow fell around her feet from all ends as she walked into the night. The air chilled to the bone as her breath came in white huffs. She walked a fresh patch of snow, unbroken and clean. In the distance two figures where visible through the light snow, her parents. Yelling there name she ran now. Trying in vain to reach them. Just as she was but a few feet away the snow kicked up, wiping them from sight. Yelling there name they did not come back, and she was alone now with another misted figure. He held a knife, and was getting closer right at her now-

Waking with a startle she swings her right hand onto her metal pole as it takes its shape into the first weapon she thought of. Standing up with sword in had she looked around the cave to see Luke sitting up against the cave wall shuddering as if in fear. Turning to him she kneeled down infront of him saying his name, "Luke! Luke?! Can you hear me? Snap out of it!"  She looked into his eyes, trying to find him, but the eyes that looked back where not seeing, he was still in his trance. Placing her hands on his shoulders she shook him, trying to get him back to her. "Luke! Wake up!" She half yelled into his ear.

Luke knew exactly what happened. Those nightmares had been a part of his life ever since he had developed his ability. He had no idea what they meant or who those people were, but he did know that he didn't like revealing his condition. It made him look weak, like he needed to be comforted, but he didn't have time for that. So he played dumb.
"Probably just a bad nightmare," he said, shrugging. "I'm fine, thanks."
He sat back down by the fire, hugging himself.
"We should head out in the morning. We need to get out of this area as soon as possible."

Walking back to her spot she sits down against the cave wall putting her tail in her lap, crossing her legs, and crossing her arms over her chest. Letting out a deep sigh she closes her eyes, trying desperately to chase down the sleep that eluded her. After another hour of silence she looked up with heavy eyes staring into the embers of the fire. Putting on the last log she shuffles closer to the fire holding out her hands to it, if she could not sleep, she would try and make herself comfortable. Muttering a few words in Russian to herself she lets out another sigh and gets up walking outside.

Her transformation seemed to elicit a reaction and as soon as the door opened poison flew that way hitting the person straight in the eyes. She was a spitting Cobra after all.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" the man screamed covering his hurting eyes.
Instead of answering Tanya ran for the door pushing the man aside. She sprinted along a white corridor. While running the Cobra became an impressive biped Western Dragon with big horns and strong wings.
She knew she looked ridiculous dressed in the wide white shirt but it didn't matter.
At first there was no one in the corridors but when she turned the corner for the third time two armed guards appeared. Using her wings she was upon them in a flash taking them out of action with her clawed paws.
Without thinking about it she kept going forward into the next wall ending up in some kind of hangar. Having more freedom of movement now she gained height and held on to a rafter high in the spacious room.

Looking around with her red eyes which was all you could see of her since her scales were black she spotted windows high in the walls. She took off her t-shirt and left it hanging there.
Without any idea which way to go she started in a direction breaking one of the windows hoping no one saw her leave.
She couldn't believe that she'd shifted twice already and the night was still young.
Tanya gained height again for a few moments and then stopped in mid-air.
Should she go to the motel in the hopes her stuff was still there? Or should she just hide?
She decided for the first. She had no clothes and no money to get new one's. Plus she didn't like to leave her Laptop behind.
Realizing she wasn't too far from the little town she flew there and landed a few streets from the motel.
Nothing really mattered anymore so she shifted a third time. Into a black lion this time to be almost invisible, quiet and have the patience to see if anyone was still there.

With her yellow eyes she looked around and moved from house to house quietly. Soon she was at the front but there didn't seem to be anything suspicious. Still she went to the back slowly, carefully and broke into her motel room.
Getting dressed she put everything she had into her rucksack as quiet as possible. She left through the window again and ran a few blocks. To make sure no one recognized her she changed hopefully for the last time tonight.
Tanya became a Central Dragon but not black this time. The form of the Dragon reminded of a Gecko but with a horn crest on its head. Feathers started between the two biggest horns along the back of the head to the neck with two feathers looking like those of a Peacock's. The wings were elegant and had feathers between the last and second to last prolonged fingers. The tail was of a Peacock and the colors varied from light green to blue and purple with white spots.
She took off and flew East... she couldn't stay there anymore.

Bing taken  aback by his choice in destination a frown spread across her face. New York was one of the most heavily "New York?!... I thought the idea was to stay hidden," Shuffling some in her seat she was put off by the thought of being around so many people, she was not the social type. "Why, whats there anyway?"

"Well...New York is where they took me the first time. I figure the best place to be is closest to the enemy, the last place they'll look," said Luke, amusing himself by levitating the dirt in front of him. "Also, there's a geneticist there who could help us. Dr....Suresh, i think."

Turning her head towards you she gave you a questionable look. "A doctor? How do we know he is not a bad person, for all we know he could be one of the people that took you. And... what do you mean by help? Help with what?... "

Luke shook his head.
"I don't know. But he must have met others like us. He could help us take the people who are chasing us down."
But he was still unsettled. He stared at the cave wall wistfully. He wanted to understand his ability, to control it better. But he was scared of what he could accomplish.

Frowning lightly from the lack of a straight forward answer she only sighed. Turning her head towards the cave entrance the shubbery that hid the entrance was glowing a little from a few rays of morning that hit the greenery. "Looks like the sun is rising... We should get ready to go soon."

Claire felt Larks arms tighten around her waist. She slowed Night down as she saw an odd hole in the top of a large tree. They stoped infront of it. "Hey Lark. Do you see this? Looks like an entryway into this tree."
The white feline nodded. "Yeah..." She looked up at Claire. "Think it's worth checking out?"

The early morning was cold as Luke rose from sleep. He shook his pelt, shaking the sleep from his body. He went over to Katelyn, shaking her shoulder lightly with his mind. Her fur was smooth and cool to his mental touch.
"We should probably get moving," said Luke softly.

Opening her eyes rather slowly she took a deep breath. She never truely slept this night, more of rest as her mussles tenced up from the lack of movement. Rubbing her eyes the small cave came into view and all its details. Looking over at  Luke she gave him a wordless nod before standing up and stretching her sour mussles.

I was hovering in the night sky admiring the the stars before I went to bed when I saw another dragon flying towards me form the west.  The individual appeared to be of central descent.  I tried to hail her as she flew by, speaking in native draconic, "ava'yorn! coi ui d'nag ekess ocuir voga darastrix persvek nomenoi luhi."  I waved my hand high in the air.

The Central Dragon was perplexed when she was hailed in draconic. She only understood parts of the sentence since it wasn't her native tongue. She stopped looking around to spot the other dragon.
"Ava'yorn," she greeted back looking around suspiciously before gazing at him. "Si tir ti... nafl... renthisj Vs'shtak. Filki vi... lauth... ummm... lexri," she mumbled clipped.
Her peacock feathers swung around as she stayed in one spot. Her clawed paws held the straps of her backpack. It was obvious she was nervous as she kept her eyes everywhere.

While she was waiting for Claire's reply, Lark glanced up at the sky briefly... and then took a double-take.
"What the... dragons?" she said incredulously, staring at the two creatures.

Her response very unusual.  I flew over to her just out of arms' reach and decided to humor her and continue the conversation in the a more commonly understood tongue, "What kind of dragon isn't fluent in draconic?  That just seems silly."  I had gotten close enough to look her in the eyes, after years of practice I was able to talk to poeple like any neurotypical person, and this time being able to hold eye contact allowed me to notice that something was off.  Her eyes weren't right.  I couldn't tell quite what, something put them in the uncanny valley.  They weren't the eyes of a dragon.  I know that much, and my signature child-like smile vanished from my face when I realized this.  My thoughts slipped out, "Imposter."

The Central Dragon lifted an eyebrow at the last word shrugging since it was true.
"Have a nice night," she said pissed and flew around the other Dragon to move on.
If she hadn't been kidnapped already she would probably change into her true form. But this stranger could be one of them so she she didn't want to risk anything.

As she flew away I shouted at her, "HEY!  YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO JUST GO GALLAVANTING AROUND AS SOME ELSE, IMPOSTER.  IDENTITY THEFT IS ILLEGAL AND I'M REPORTING YOU TO THE ATHORIES!"  I would not tolerate such an atrocity as to impersonate my kind.  There was a totally inosent dragon somewhere getting blamed for all the things she did as said dragon, and w/ the mutant ability to outfly her, my sense of justice, and my draconic pride got the best of me in that moment as I flew back towards town.

Hearing these words Tanya stopped in mid-air and went after him. Glad that she was a flying creature in truth she changed to her true Thel form knowing it was not a good idea.
"I DON'T THINK THAT'S SUCH A GOOD IDEA! I'VE BEEN KIDNAPPED AND HELD CAPTIVE TONIGHT! I'M SURE THE AUTHORITIES WILL BE DEAD KEEN TO GET THEIR PAWS ON SOMEONE LIKE YOU!" she shouted after him not sure he even heard her.
Well, it wasn't her problem. His own fault if he walked straight into their arms.
Should he look back he could see a blue striped mix of Tiger, Dragon and Goat.

I was purrplexed by her statement, what did she mean "someone like me?"  At the time I had no knowledge that my abilities were abnormal.  I had grown-up being able to fly and breath fire like any other dragon, I just did so better then everybody else.  It didnn't matter, though, I was too far away to hear anythimg else and was almost back at town anyway.  I did manage to catch a glimps of her in a second form.  She was some kind of chinera, the combination so strange the it was either her true form, or she could combine the aspects of her different forms.

Since the Dragon didn't turn around Tanya continued East. She could see the sun starting to rise as she flew as fast as her wings could carry her.
With no idea where to go she kept flying until her wings were too tired. Landing in a forest the Thel searched for a place to hide and sleep.

Lark thought for a moment, then opened her mouth to call out to the dragons. At that moment, though, both of them disappeared in different directions... and one of them became something else.
"What the..." Lark whipped around and looked at Claire. "Did you see that?"

I woke up bound and gagged in a jail cell, or maybe it was a prison cell, I could never remember the difference.  It was daylight outside the cell window.  I had been out for a couple of hours after the officer I had reported the Identity-theft to shot me in the head.  The bullet didn't penetrate my scaly hide, me being a dragon and all.  I Burned through the gag and the ropes w/ my breath weapon, but right then the guard walked in.  "STOP RIGHT THERE!" he shouted, he was German Sheppard, know for their relentless and fierce sense of duty, making them perfect for law enforcement, "how did you get out of your restraints?" he stopped yelling, but his tone was still stern, accusative, and very angry sounding, like the voice of someone who is always angry.
"How do think?  I burned through them."
"What?"
"Yes."
"How?"
"I'm a dragon."
"Yeah, and?"
"And, dragons breath fire, that's common knowledge."
"Yeah," he straightened and crossed his arms, "right."
"And sense when do cops arrest someone for reporting a crime?" I stood up and walk to the bars.
"How do I know that your not one of them?"
"One of who?  The I.D. thieves."
"One of those mutant super-furs."
"And having a super on your side is bad how?"
"You're the enemy, you'll turn around and stab us in the back!"
"No more then anyone else!"
"Baloney!"
I looked at him like him was crazy, "I can get out of here any time I want, and yet I'm taking the peaceful route instead." He then drew his gun and shot me.  Again.

* * *This time I woke up strapped and bolted to the ceiling.  W/ my luck though, something or someone random would just happen to come in and save me.  Again.

Waking a few hours later the Thel was still tired and very hungry. She didn't have anything to eat and didn't want to go to any store.
So... she would have to hunt. But this form wasn't made for hunting on the ground with the Goat genes and wings.
She had three forms suited for hunting: Tiger, Sabertooth and Raptor. Which one should she use?
Tiger and Sabertooth were almost the same and good hunters. The Raptor was vicious and THE born hunter. Since she had no idea of how to hunt in the first place it'd be best to take that one.
Leaving her backpack and clothes behind she went hunting as a biped Raptor. Her scaly skin was many shades of green. She had the typical prominent claw on both digitigrade legs. Her arms were longer than those of feral Raptors and she was fast and quiet.
On the look-out for prey she roamed around.
