:D Hi everyone!
I'm really new to being a furry and have a few questions. I also thought I should introduce myself. My real name is LeeAnn but everyone just calls me Elle. I'm 21 and live in NC. As for a fursona and name, well I'm still trying to search for mine. :(
I always thought I had part dog characteristics (Don't get me wrong - I believe I'm full human); with my mom always saying I had hair of a dog and I always thought I had the loyalty of one. Oddly enough I am still keeping the secrets for my friends from first grade back in 1995. But I don't know if I'm a dog or not :?
So I am asking for a little bit of itty bit of advice. When did you first discover your fursona? Did it morph into something else or did you just "See it, and know it to be true." ??

Any other advice you can give to a first time furry? I'll be debuting at the Anthrocon 2013 since I want to debut in a full suit which requires losing a little bit of weight. Ever since I found Furry I've been on the treadmill everday it seems like.

a 3 year old here ^^ but yea. for advice on figuring out your fursona. the way i did it, was just try to find an animal you found beautiful (not sexualy, unless you want that? )and describes you, like your saying dog, loyalty, yea. after you figure it out, more expirienced with the fandom, then you could maybe expiriment, branch off, find a hybrid or something that just "clicks"
like me, i started with a wolf. and after 3 fursona changes. here i am, with "rook" a bunwolf (rabbit/wolf hybrid) the fursona of my dreams

I myself have multiple (main) fursonas, one of which is Ventus Fall, a fur-dragon.
I developed her first before the others, but she seems to stick around better than my other fursonas xD
Sometimes I might change to one of my other fursonas, like Solus Zelt (Bundranygon (bunny/ dragon mix)) or Suirrel (a squirrel with the ability to change colour).
Sometimes you can create a fursona and it can indeed shift to something else or have slightly diffrent physical (and mentally) appearances.
I changed Ventus a little bit in appearance, like the ears are more pointier now, her markings are a bit diffrent, and so on :)

Welcome to both the forum and the fandom I hope you have a wonderful time in both ^_^ . As to your fursona truthfully the reason people choose fursona's are quite different from person to person. I've had a few fursona's over the years just choose an animal that fits you I'm certain that it will be great :) .

To help you find your fursona one thing I recommend is think of all your personality's. What makes you, YOU!
And after you have some defining traits of yourself, look at the animal world. Which species catches your eye and from what you can tell, BEST represents the traits you have. Like a dog would represent loyalty, a dragon could be power, and a cat could be shyness.
It can all be looked at in MANY different ways.
Once you have your fursona species, All you need is a look, Witch is pretty straight forward.
And if you find it too hard to make just one fursona you can allways have multiple ones, Many others people do.

Thanks for all the greetings and advice! I feel soo welcomed! :D I started drawing a few samples today of what I might like as a furry character and would like to show my appreciation.

My first attempt at furry art and I think I did pretty good considering. Feel free to laugh - I also think it looks part squirrel, fox, and pig. But as you can tell my hobby isn't really drawing (dang the concept art!!! D: )
But rather music, and I am one of those people that LOVE my job. I work at a family recreation center and one of my jobs is to make sure everyone is happy, so you can say I am constantly performing like a furry and making people smile and laugh. I can't wait for the day that I can work as a furry/mascot there.

^_^ I'm going to practice everyday until I can turn it into concept art or not be afraid to lose a sketchbook at the Anthrocon. Do you like sharing your stories? Do you have any PG-13 or under your willing to share with someone that hasn't read any yet? :3

Hey there :) :P I'm really new to this website thing too but that doesent mean I cant help u out. I'm 16 and my real name is Anthony. I still havent really thought of my fursona name yet but for now its Anthony. I'm working on it cuz honestly Anthony doesn't sound like a name for a Fursona. I always considered myself to be part cat and part wolf. I haven't told anyone too but when I'm alone i usually just let my true self out. This is why I'm glad i found out about this website because now i know I'm not alone and its amazing knowing that there's other people out there like me. Anyways if you ever want to talk please feel free to PM me and i would be very glad to respond.
