Title: Good Animations
Post by: Talos on August 15, 2012, 12:38:13 AM
(not sure if this belongs here)

I'm looking for some great animations for me to watch, because I'm a bit bored on the tube. And I need to satisfy my animation fix. Looking up "good animations" doesn't do me any good, so who better to know than the people here at the forums!

You can suggest an animation you made yourself or an animation someone else has made, but there are certain criteria.

The animations may have anthro or human characters.
The animations must not be anything comedy-centered (parodies, joke videos, remixes, anything that has a central focus on comedy) I am mainly looking for some deep stuff, animations that make you think after you watch them.

The animations may not contain existing characters (animations about Sonic or Snake or Kirby or Pikachu I do not want)

Nothing less than a minute, preferably.

Currently, I've gotten suggestions to watch the following animations:

Lucky Day Forever
Red vs Blue

I will not watch them until I have finished gathering some names.

Thank you!

Look at Spice and Wolf.
I watched season one on netflix, waiting for season two to come out. ^_^
I have found it on youtube, but it is in Japanese but has subtitles.
Here you go!
Look up "spice and wolf episode 1 sub" in youtube and it should be the first choice
(Spice and Wolf (SUB) - 1 - Wolf and Best Clothes)
Enjoy!

Ah, Spice & Wolf, that I have heard of. I have watched a few episodes, and I feel they target it towards furries more than anyone else.

If you want a brilliantly designed and moving animation, this one is good!
Kara - Heavy Rain's Dev Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0KTUysrwgQ#ws)
If you want an very interesting animation, here's a good one!
Get Out (All langages on cc) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST8QLHkt2ts#noexternalembed-ws)

If you want some good animation Series (that will keep you entertained for a long time) I have some suggestions.
Apocalypse Lane: (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/apocalypse-lane?page=3) This web series is a hilarious take of a neighborhood in a post apocalyptic world. It's wacky residents get into a lot of shenanigans but eventually a very large main plot is seen and soon enough the neighborhood is on a fight to save possibly the entire world! The entire series is comprised of 48 episodes and is full of extremely unexpected (and hilarious) plot twists, recurring characters and a bunch of hidden easter eggs. The show is slow to start (it only really gets funny around episode 5 and 6) but if you hang in there, you definitely won't regret it! (Start from episode 1).
Doraleous and Associates (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk1B8DiIJI8#ws): Ordinarily, this would be the first series I'd recommend. Doraleous and Associates follows a group of hero's in a medieval time as they go on a bunch of very interesting and hilarious adventures. Possibly the single funniest web series I've ever seen, Doraleous and Associates has 34 brilliantly designed episodes full of hilarious content. However, due to some complications I'm not currently aware of, they went dark for 2 years and didn't release an episode. Recently, their entire 34 episode library on escapists was taken offline and it seems that they are releasing the episodes in weekly/daily periods again on youtube. So far they've only released the first 4 episodes! If you click the link I gave you (the first episode) and watch it, I'm almost certain you'll be hooked!
Xombie (http://www.xombified.com/): If you want a more serious animation series than xombie would be a definite choice! It is set in a massive zombie apocalypse and follows a little girl who wakes up in a graveyard and is unable to remember how she got there. A horde of zombies arises and is about to attack the girl when she is saved by a mysterious figure. The savior is a smart zombie. The entire series follows the girl and her zombie companion trying to get the girl back home, they meet a lot of characters on the way and some interesting settings as soon the story about the girls past unfolds. It's very well done, unfortunately, due to some actions I heavily disagree with, the series now officially costs money. However, you might be able to find the original episodes on youtube!
