Easengar limped out of the alley. His leg bleeding badly from a large cut. Where am I? He thought with concern. The small fox looking around. He was in what looked like a large city. He limped towards a newspaper stand, he grabbed the paper. It was the New York Times, the date read April 18th 1925! No way... It can't be! A few people gave him weird looks, must be the clothes, after all he was wearing Jeans and a sweatshirt, everybody else was wearing suits and dress clothes. I must look like a bum, Easengar began to limp around, nobody offered to help him. His jeans began to get wet with blood, and he started to feel light-headed. I need to get some help, he thought with fear, he would probably bleed out soon. "Help! Please help me!" He shouted.
-
Soria was just exiting the local grocer's store, holding a large paper bag filled with vegetables. She was quite a bit tired from the day. Ten of her students had come in today, so her money was quite refreshed for the day. However, Soria's ears perked when she heard someone screaming from the side of the street for help. She merely turned her head to find the source of the voice and debated whether or not to help the bleeding individual.
-
Easengar looked up to see somebody looking at him. It was hard to tell who or ehat they looked like since Easengar's vision started to get blurry. "Please...." he whimpered, falling to the ground. That's it I'm going to die here.... He thought with fear, "help me...."
-
Danny walked down the sidewalk, mindlessly walking around people. It'd been three days since she'd awoken here. The money in her pockets had kept her fed and slept, but she'd found nothing of who she was. Had to admit though, the diner food was worth the wait at times...
A cry for help caught her attention. She hurried past people toward the growing crowd, squeezing to the front. Many people were too distracted to say much about her "Inappropriate" dressing. "Sir? Are you alright?" She hurried to his side.
-
As soon as a figure approached him his vision started to fade to darkness. He fell unconcious.
He walked down a large white hallway the roof was hunreds of feet above. There was a lone robed figure at the end of it. "God?" He called out, his voice echoing around. The figure shook his head. "You must stop him." The figure announced, althought Easengar had to be a hundred yards away he could hear the voice as if it was whispering in his ear. "Who?!" He shouted, that's when he began to feel the sensation of falling....into darkness.
-
Soria walked over next to Danny and looked at the unconscious and oddly dressed person, "Do you think he's okay? Here, we can take him to my dojo. It's only down the block. Stay here, I'll try to get some people to help carry him." She quickly ran down the street, holding tightly onto her groceries so that they didn't fall onto the ground. As soon as she was in, there were two students still practicing inside, "Come with me, you two. I need some muscles to help move an unconscious person."
-
Easengar could feel his lfe draining from him. He tried to cry out but nothing would come out. Everything was darkness, he began to get sudden flashes. Faces, names, locations, everything. "You must stop him" he kept hearing the voice say. "It could mean the end of everything if you don't." He suddenly jolted away, screaming and thrashing. He could smell the sick smell of urine. He had pissed himself. He suddenly felt sick, Easengar spun over. Vomiting over the curb and into the street. He hadn't noticed the bystanders watching, and the figures standing above him. His leg felt like it was on fire. He cried out in pain.
-
Nestor watched from the corner, calmly spinning a practice sai as though the word '"unconscious person" hadn't been used. He'd been in this time period for just over a week now, and had managed to explain his clothing by saying that he was a "theme detective" and that he was supposed to be a vampire. A real one, of course, not some weird shirtless sparkling person, he thought, chuckling briefly. Placing the sai down on the chair next to him, he got up and walked over. "Could I be of assistance?"
-
Danny pulled Easengard to his feet, slinging one arm over her shoulders. She grit her teeth as he struggled. "Grab his other arm and follow her." She flattened her ears when he screamed again. 'Note to self. Take earplugs where ever I go.'
-
Soria came back with a couple of her students, who seemed to be quite burly and probably worked in coal mines, and they took over in carrying him. They all rushed back to her dojo, where they laid him on a folding, white plastic table. The student that had stayed behind came out from the back with a first aid kit, and Soria began to check his wounds to treat them.
-
"OWW!" Nestor clutched his forearm, a look of pain on his face. "Well... he can definitely hit hard, that's for sure..." He looked at the boy's clothing. "Wait a second... those clothes don't fit this time period... and he REALLY needs a bath..." He raised his hands. "No offense, but you did urinate into your lower clothing apparatus... wait, what?"

Warm hazy sunlight poured through the open doors of the workshop, spilling across the bodywork of an old Morris Minor. From among the heaps of tools and spare parts a radio played. Katka grinned as she worked, checking over the valves of the ancient car, and all the while her tail flicked in time to the music.
From outside the workshop the sound of someone approaching across the gravel drive was masked by the radio, allowing Mr O'reilly to make it all the way to the large double doors unnoticed. He too grinned, a slow and warm smile as he watched the girl leaning over the exposed motor. After a moment or two of watching he stepped into the workshop and spoke over the sound of the music "Hey there, girl."
Katka glanced up from her work and her grin widened. She walked over to were the radio nestled amongst a pile of old rags and turned it down, her hips swinging in time to the beat. With a sigh she turned back to the old wolf, wiping her hands clean "You dirty old rascal, you know how I feel about you watching me while I work."
With an equal grin O'reilly leaned against his car, slapping the metal affectionately as he said "Well I was talking to the car, actually-"
It was then that it happened. A deep swooping sensation and an instant moment of blackness, quickly replaced with the actual rushing of air accompanied with falling. Katka screamed, the sudden image of brick walls and an alleyway rushing up to meet her. With a rib-crushing jolt and a stab of pain up her side she stopped, hanging in mid-air. Below her she saw the figure of Mr O'reilly, the wolf spreadeagled across the alley floor in a pool of slick blood.
Breath fast and sharp she glanced up, catching sight of where her jacket had caught on a rusting piece of pipework, suspending her above the drop below. With a final tearing sound the jacket gave way and she fell the final drop, hitting the ground into instant unconsciousness...

Nestor suddenly stood straight, his ears flicking. It sounded like something crashed in the alley... He rushed toward the door of the dojo and pried it open. "You guys take care of him," he said. "I've gotta go check something out!"
Reaching the alleyway, he saw two stagnant figures, once again in odd clothes. "Sweet Christmas, where are they all coming from?" he said, investigating the scene. The first one, a wolf dressed in clothes that seemed only slightly more advanced than this era, seemed to be dead... but he probably wasn't. The second one, a female cat, was unconsious and had a large tear in her jacket. Looking up, Nestor saw the missing piece of the cat's jacket hanging from a jagged piece of pipe. That's probably why she's showing more signs of life... "HEY!"
Without warning, Nestor felt something hard hit him hard in the shoulder. Rolling with the blow, he turned to see a policeman rushing at him. Great, he thought, quickly pulling out his I.D. "Private Detective! Stand down!"
Thankfully, the man was a smart policeman... something rare in Nestor's own time... and understood the meaning. "Sorry, kid," he said. "Can't be too careful... but why..."
"I'm a theme detective," the cat said.
"Oh. O.K." The cop extended a hand. "Name's Wilson. You got a name, or should I just call you Dick?"
Nestor took the man's hand and shook it. "Nestor. It... came with the job."
"I see." The cop looked at the two downed people. "So... what's the story here?"
"Oh, people keep randomly appearing in this alley dressed in strange clothes," he said. "I'm working on finding out why. There was another guy earlier, actually... some other folks are helping to take care of him, so I suppose, I'd better get these two there as well..." He looked up at the cop. "Care to lend a hand?"
Wilson nodded. "Sure, kid," he said, picking up the wolf. "Lead the way."
Moving fairly quickly, Nestor scooped up the cat and put her in a fireman's carry, then slowly headed towards the dojo, Wilson close behind him.
-
(Who's the cat?)
Danny followed the group to the building, sticking close. The two coal miners had been a blessing; whatever she'd done before, it wasn't any type of straight lifting. Edurance seemed more on her lines.
Once inside, she stood apart from the group slightly, to give them room. With no experience under her belt the she could tell, there was no point in getting in her space. "Is there any identification? I can check for a driver's license if you want. He might respond to his name," she said, padded closer.
-
"Actually, there's something need your help with..." Nestor walked in the door, followed by Officer Wilson. He gently set down the girl, brushing a strand of hair out of his face. "Thank you, Officer," he said to Wilson, who deposited the wolf on the floor.
"No problem, kid," Wilson said, heading out. "If you need my help ever again, I'm usually at the donut shop on Third between 1 and 4." Tipping his hat, the policeman walked out the door.
Nestor watched him go, then turned back to those within the dojo. "I found these two in the same alley our little friend came out of," he said. "It seemed as though they fell from the sky; I noticed a piece of the girl's jacket snagged on a piece of pipe." He looked down at the two figures. "Not sure about the wolf, but she's definitely alive... if hurt." Sure enough, the girl's torso was moving up and down in the normal pattern of breathing.

Through the dim haziness of pain, Katka could feel someone lift her bodily and carry her over they're shoulder. She would have felt surprised at the unknown person's strength, for she knew shamefully that she weighed a good deal more than she wished, however the more pressing notion of extreme pain in her side and leg stamped the thoughts out. With every step of the stranger another white-hot jolt would hit her, each threatening to send her into complete unconsciousness.
Katka realised she had fallen unconscious again, coming to as she was laid down by the stranger. With consciousness came pain again, stabbing through her ankle and up her leg. As she lay there, muffled in darkness, the sounds of a group of people talking around her filtered through. She whimpered in pain, a scared mewl of a sound that she wished she could have suppressed.
Again she woke and realized she had fallen unconscious, though she could not tell for how long. With a grimace at the pain in her leg she opened one eye and squinted at the blinding light. After a moment she pushed herself up onto one elbow, the pain in her wrist telling her that to put her weight on it would not be for the best. She shifted into an almost sitting position, muttering hoarsely "Where the frack am I?"
-
Nestor looked over at the girl from where he stood. "Well, you're alive, if nothing else," he replied. He came over and kneeled down next to the girl with some medical supplies. "Do you need any assistance medically?"
-
With a groan Katka dropped back to the floor, prompting another jolt of pain through her wrist and ankle. She swore fluently and profusely in Slovakian before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. When she opened them again it was to stare up at Nestor with a scared look on her face "I think I might have broken my ankle, and my wrist really hurts..." She crossed her arms across her chest defensively, helpless and confused "W-where am I? What happened to Mr O'reilly?"
-
"Who?" Nestor looked over at the wolf. "Oh, him... um... well, the bleeding stopped not long ago, and he IS showing signs of life, but he appears to be in a coma." Carefully following standard medical procedures for his time period (modern day), Nestor put Katka's arm in a sling and splinted her leg. He grinned at her. "You'd probably be in the same state, but you were saved by that jagged pipe in the alley." The cat fingered the hole in the girl's jacket. "Probably why you're talking to me right now... although it left a hell of a bruise on your side, most likely... didn't check." He leaned in closer. "One more thing... what time period did you come from?"
-
Katka grinned weakly back up at him, watching as he splinted her leg. The pain had lessened considerably, giving her reason to suspect it may not be broken after all merely badly sprained, but it was still distracting enough that she didn't realize what Nestor has asked. When the question had finally registered she blinked, confused "Time period? Its May the 6th I think. Sunday..."
She pushed herself up with her good arm, looking around at the group of people and then to Mr O'reilly. Tears welled up in her eyes as she glanced quickly away from his bloodied body. The man had been like a father to her, ever since her own had died in the car crash all those years ago. Stifling a sob Katka looked back up at Nestor, voice wavering "Where am I? Who are you people?"
-
Nestor looked from left to right, then leaned in close. "You're in the 1920s in a martial arts school," he whispered, eying the two karate students. "Don't... say anything aloud. Those two guys over there would totally freak out." He started to move back, then leaned in once more to whisper. "Oh... and I'm from the 21st century. Don't tell anyone."
-
With a huff of laughter Katka let herself fall back onto the floor, staring up at the ceiling, tears still in her eyes "You think I believe that?" Holding back another snort of laughter she closed her eyes and shook her head "I've gone insane... I must have hit me head while at the garage and knocked myself out, and this is just some crazy product of my imagination."
She glanced up as Easengar limped over, a look of concern in her amber eyes. With an effort she pushed herself back into a sitting position and replied uncertainly "I'm Katka... Katka Yantova." Turning to look back at Nestor she narrowed her eyes and looked him up and down "And you? Mr 'mysterious time travel man'..."
-
Nestor clamped a hand over Katka's mouth. "SHH!" he said, checking to see if anyone had really heard her. Satisfied, he leaned forward to whisper in Katka's ear again. "Don't... tell... anyone. This is the 1920s. They don't know anything about modern technology, and they would lock me up if they heard that. But I promise you... I wasn't lying. And my name is Nestor. Furthermore, if this was a dream, then shouldn't this wake you up?" Reaching towards Katka's face, he pinched one of her cheeks.
-
Nestor facepalmed himself. "Oh, for the love of...." Thankfully, the dojo students had left, so no one of importance really heard it. He sighed and looked at the others. "Fine, I'm from the future. Just DON'T TELL..."
He looked at the boy in shock. "You too?!"
-
Katka struggled for a moment against Nestor's grasp before realizing, as she had suspected, he was a good deal stronger than he looked. She stared up at him, breathing heavily through her nose as he clamped down on her muzzle. Her ear flicked as he whispered close and her tail swished with annoyance. Finally he let go and Katka took a deep breath in.
Just as she was about to shout a retort about suffocating people he pinched her, making her jump with surprise. A deep flush ran through her grey-furred cheeks and she rubbed the spot that he pinched. She stared up at him from where she sat on the floor, feeling foolish and even more scared than before. In a meek and quiet voice she glanced between Nestor to Easengar "So you're not kidding? This is real?"
-
Danny had watched silently, somewhat amused. She may have only been there three days, but time travel was proposterous.
Right?
She shook her head. No point in thinking about that right then. It wouldn't help, and if these people were not actually from here (like her), they'd need a place to stay for the night. A couple cheap hotel rooms should limit the amount she spent, get them a place to stay, and make discussing this easier.
"Do you guys need a place to stay? I'm renting a hotel a few blocks down, and while it's cheap, it's better than dirt," she said, interrupting their discussion. "I could get you the first few nights then you'd have to pick it up from there."
-
Nestor looked deep into Katka's eyes. "Yes. This is very real."
-
Rubbing her upper arm Katka sniffed back a choked sob. She looked away from Nestor to the ground, wishing that she could wake up to the sight of Mr O'reilly leaning over her with a concerned look on his face and a nasty bump on her head. Finally she glanced up at the other stranger, Danny, and nodded her head "Yeah, I guess we do."
After a moment Katka pushed herself up. She got as far as into a half-kneeling position before she put out a hand to steady herself, gripping Nestor's shoulder. With a stifled whimper of pain she stood completely, leaning most of her weight onto Nestor rather than her leg. Her tail flicked back forth agitatedly as she glanced from stranger to stranger.
-
Nestor gently stood up, draping Katka's arm over his shoulder so that he could support her. "Yes," he said, looking over at Danny, "that sounds rather pleasant." He looked down at the wolf. "We should bring him too."
-
Danny slung Mr. O'reilly's arm over her shoulder and got him to his feet. "I'll take him the way there. He's actually not as heavy as I thought he'd be." She padded out the door, turning into an old alley. Trash littered the ground, a small group of trash cans settled against the wall. "It's about two miles from here."
-
Nestor nodded. "Good. I love taking long walks."
-
Katka walked out into the alleyway with the support of Nestor, clutching to him as she tried to put as little weight on her ankle as possible. She watched in grim silence as Danny carried the unconscious and bloodied form of Mr. O'reilly. When she spoke Katka huffed a pained laugh, muttering meekly under her breath "Two miles, I can do that... Sure..."
-
Nestor looked over at Katka and smiled. "Alright, miss, glad to know. But if you get tired, just say the word and I'll carry you the rest of the way."
-
Nestor gently reached down and scooped Easingar and the walking stick up. "I've got you," he said, continuing to follow the others.
-
Katka felt a warm flush spread across her cheeks, muttering to Nestor "No, I couldn't ask you to carry me again... I'm sure it must be tiring having to carry a lummox like me around everywhere." She glanced back as Easengar fell, watching him with curiosity and pity. In silence she watched as Nestor helped him up, wondering at how strong he must be to carry the other while also supporting her own weight. In response she tried to shift more weight off Nestor, a feeling of guilt at having to be a burden.
-
Nestor looked over at her, smiling. "Don't worry, I can handle both your weights... lean on me as often as you need to." He continued walking, making sure to stay at a pace that Katka could maintain.
-
Nestor smiled at the fox. "You're welcome."
-
Danny smiled lightly at their exchange. They were already friends, all within appearing in, what, two, three hours? She had to admit being able to make such fast friends was enviable, to say the least.
The two miles passed rather quickly, at least compared to what she'd anticipated while carrying the man's weight. The motel, one level and flat roofed, formed an arch between two taller apartment buildings. Lights shown from only two rooms out of the twenty-two. At the front, surrounded by a gate, a little office stood. Lights were on in one window. Danny sighed. Home sweet home, at least for the time.
"Stay here. I'll go pay for the rooms."
-
"Alright," Nestor said, standing where he was with Easingar and Katka.
-
Nestor looked at the young fox in surprise. "Well," he said. "You're something."
-
Katka stayed silent throughout the journey, staring around at the city as they walked. Everything was like out of an old postcard and it was only with great self-restraint that she didnt say anything as they passed other people. She shied away from any conversation with the others, even Nestor, watching Danny as she lead them to the apartments. Still silent she nodded and waited, leaning on Nestor as Danny left.
-
Danny had set the larger man against a building so he would have someone he knew nearby if he awoke. She stepped into the office, light boucing off the white paint. A small lounge area sat in the corner, the desk across the middle of the room. She walked to the woman at the desk. He hair was done up in a bun over a brown sugar face and dark brown eyes. "Ms Lineage?"
Ms Lineage looked up from the papers she was sorting. She smiled. "Danny. Here to check in?"
Danny fished in her pocket for the necessary funds. "Yes Miss. I'd also like to check in a group of friends. Five of them, perhaps six. Three more rooms should be good."
Ms Lineage smiled. "Alright dear. Eighty dollars." Danny handed her the money and Ms Lineage handed Danny the keys. "Here are the keys. Rooms 5 through 8."
Danny smiled and bowed lightly. "Thank you Miss." She walked out, keys in her pocket, and came to a halt in front of the group. "I got the rooms for you."
-
Katka nodded with a shy grin, muttering something about having to pay her back somehow for the cost. She watched Easengar with a curious eye. It had seemed only a moment ago when the fox had been unable to walk without being carried. Her tail flicked a few times as she glanced back over to Danny, gingerly keeping her weight off her ankle until she could assess how strong it was.
-
"Alright," Nestor said. "Lead the way."
-
(Damned school... I hate the look and it disappears from the list sometimes...)
Danny slipped the wolf's arm over her shoulder, leading them through the office. Ms Lineage had already head in the time, leaving no one to question the odd appearances.
The rooms she'd gotten weren't far, left of the office. She set the man beside a door. "I'll be in room four if you need me. Here's your keys to rooms five to eight. 'Night." She started in the direction of her room.
-
(please forgive my tardiness of posting.. it keeps dissapearing off of my "watched" list. -_- )
Elizabeth is walking around a smile on her face, wistling a tune. people looked and had to look again. it was not every day they saw a woman in a men's suit. it did fit her good she was a peculiar woman, never like to talk to many people. though she was intreagued by the rumors of strange people apearing in odd clothing. she wanted to see waht was going on.
-
(Weird... my watch list is fine. Although if the server is under high stress, it disappears.)
Nestor took the key to rooms six and eight, then looked over at Katka. "Your pick," he said, holding out the two keys.
-
Once in her room, she flopped face-first on the foreward bed sighing contentedly and smiling. Another, unused bed sat nearby, diagonal the small table and chairs. Her own sat opposite the dresser. A small side table sat between them. Only a lamp, her locket, and her letter sat on it. She crawled over and picked up the locket, opening it. A picture of a young woman holding a young child looked out at her. They looked so familiar... 'Is that really me? The stripes match, but I... I should remember that...' She fought to keep from tearing up. It was hard knowing what she should remember but couldn't.
-
Katka glanced down the corridor, watching as everyone disappeared into their rooms. She shrugged her shoulders "I'll take six I guess..." and took the key. With a sigh she took a few steps from Nestor, wincing in pain with each step until she reached the door to her room. She turned back to Nestor, feigning a weak grin and muttered "Good night Nestor. And here is to hoping I wake up back home tomorrow morning." Still grinning she opened the door and stepped into her room, only letting her true emotions show until the door was closed behind her.
A glance around the room was enough to accentuate the feeling of hopelessness. Peeling wallpaper perforated with the smell of damp filled everything as she limped across to the small bathroom. The water at least was clear, freezing cold but clean. She splashed a lot of it across her face, water dripping from her chin as she turned back to the bed. Limping over to it she lay down and huddled among the covers, pulling her jacket close around her as she slowly shivered her way to sleep.
-
"Alright, sleep well." With those words, Nestor walked down to room 8 and went inside, closing the door behind him. As he check to make sure he had all his weapons, he began to puzzle things out... the reason as to why they had all met. He was still pondering when the spaceship of his head docked on the metaphorical spaceport of his pillow.
-
*it was getting late and she left instructions with her people, if they found out were the people were, to ring her up emeditaly. she did not care about the time they called, just as long as they did. she begain to walk back to her home. it was in the upper district.. her townhouse if you would even call it that. It was an old bank she worked hard to purchase. It took her nearly three years, with the help of her 'Father' to transform it into a comfortable home.
-
(Um, am I the only one that remembered that wolf...?)
Danny washed up quickly, running through her memories. Nothing seemed to match. She sighed and slipped into a nightshirt and shorts, not wanting to overheat again. Turning off the light, she was out in a moment.
-
(You mean Easingar? I remembered him too.)
-
(No, Katka's friend. He IS a wolf, correct? That's who Danny was carrying.)
-
(Yeah, i did kinda forget about him... I sort of intended for him to die in that first scene :S ... But anyway, yes he is a wolf, and this sort of thing would probably be better put in the OOC thread to stop it cluttering this one :) )
-
a curious child watched as everyone went up to their rooms then as soon as they were asleep picked up the telly. "Madam Elizabeth's please." the operator patched her though. Elizabeth stirred in her sleep then the telly next to her rang. her arm darted out from under the covers and snatched it up on the second ring. "Hello? where are they at? the inn? what one.. wait who's this, ah alright i know exactly where you mean. thanks. there will be a bonus in your check."
Elizabeth slides out of bed and quickly dresses, heading out to the location. she waits outside watching the sky lighten leaning against the building.
-
(Um, I'm assuming someone took him in for the night.)
Light streamed through Danny's window as she stretched. Her fur lay smooth under her clothes, a simple t-shirt and panties. She smiled. "Another day, another chance." She hurried to dress, washing up and pulling her belt and holster on. She stepped out of the door, locking it behind her.
It took her a moment to notice the lady leaned against the building. "May I help you Miss?"
-
Elizabeth smiled. "yes.. please.. i would like to talk with you and your strange compainons. you all intrest me greatly.." she has on good closes, though she is rarely seen without the sturdy black dragon cane she now was leaning on..
-
(Cifero would make sense to have him in his room, seeing as Nestor seems to know about first aid? Just remember Cifero, I kinda want Mr O'reilly to pass away, he isn't a main character ;) )
Katka woke with a groan. She was greeted not by Mr O'reilly or a Nurse commenting on how bad a knock she taken to the head, instead only the damp-covered ceiling and single light bulb hanging from a wire. With another groan, this time mild pain, she pushed herself up. Her clothes smelled musty and slept-in but she didnt care. Instead she pulled her jacket close around her and assessed the damage.
A brief check, gingerly pressing and checking, showed her wrist to be fine. Her ankle also seemed much better, hopefully only sprained after all, but nonetheless she didnt remove the splint Nestor had put on it for now. She got to her feet and walked carefully to the small wash basin, splashing herself with the cold water and drying on the corner of her jacket.
A glance in the cracked mirror showed tired eyes and tousled hair, still cinched into two pigtails hanging over her shoulders to her chest. She sighed and walked to the door, opened and shutting it behind her just in time to see Danny doing the same. Silently she followed behind, stopping just aside from Danny and the stranger, listening to their conversation without any wish to interject or draw attention to herself...
-
Nestor woke up, arching his back and stretching to get the feeling back in his muscles. "Well," he said. "Better check on him." Walking over to the wolf that had been with Katka, Nestor knelt down to see how he was doing. Placing two fingers against the wolf's neck, the cat frowned sadly as he realized that there was no longer a pulse. "Shite," he muttered, placing a coin over each of the wolf's eyes and pulling a blanket over his head. Standing up, he retrieved his weapons and walked outside to see Danny talking to a girl as Katka watched. He swallowed sadly, then walked up to Katka. "Um... miss?" he said quietly, tapping Katka on the shoulder.
-
Danny smiled, confused. "I think they're still sleeping. If you'd like, I can act as a spokesperson." She pulled her collar up against the wind.
-
Katka jumped when Nestor tapped her shoulder, pulling her jacket close around her instinctively. The jump was accompanied by a stifled mewl of surprise, an embarrassed flush rising through her cheeks as she muttered "Oh, its you..."
She shot one last glance at Danny and the other girl, then turned away from them to hear what Nestor had to say. It was not surprising that the two hadn't noticed her, she had a tendency to hang around conversations and only have people realize she was there at the end. With a sigh, partly at her own social awkwardness and partly at the whole situation, she looked up at Nestor with a questioning look.

Nestor bit his lip, looking from side to side nervously and sadly. "Um... it's... it's about your friend the wolf," he said. "I checked on him this morning, and..." He looked down at the ground with a sigh, then looked back up. "I'm sorry, but he's gone."
-
" i am going to be blaient. where are all of you from. not very often an entire group shows up without even leaving a single scrap of a paper trail." she smiled a bit and herd some distant murmmering, looking to her left and over Danny's shoulder. "looks like two more are up. know whe nthe others will be..?"
-
Katka's lip trembled, a pained expression passing across her face. She bit down on her lip, hard enough to draw blood, stopping the trembling. "Oh-" was all she could manage, then a shuddering sigh and she turned away from Nestor, wiping away the tears forcefully with the sleeve of her military jacket.
She took a couple of steps towards the nearest wall, leaning heavily against it as she choked back another sob and muttered "H-he was all I had... for a father most m-my life..." Finally she slid down the wall until she sat in a crouched position, back to the bare bricks, her whimpers muffled by the sleeve of her jacket that she pressed to her mouth.
-
Nestor looked at Katka sadly, then kneeled down and wrapped his arms around her in an attempt to comfort her slightly. "It's alright," he said, gently patting her back. "He might be gone, but he'll live on in your memory... and in your heart."
-
Danny thought for a moment. "Last I knew, out of town for them. I don't know where I'm from. Are you part of the police?" She leaned on the wall, glancing around for a car. "The others may not be up for a bit. Long night."
-
"no, i am not. just a curious persron keeping tabs on potiental bisnuess threats." she hears the muffled sobs and looks back over at the girl trying to hold back tears. "looks like one of your friends has heard a bit of upsetting news."
-
Danny winced. "Can't say I blame her for crying." She stepped over to Katka, resting a hand on her shoulder. Even with such a small display of trying to comfort her, she felt rather awkward for it.
-
Katka sniffed, gulping air after the tears as she wiped the back of her hand across her cheeks. With tears still in her eyes she stared at sleeve of her jacket. Mr O'reilly had given her the old military jacket years back, when she had first moved to Britain, the memory of it still vivid like it was yesterday.
The jacket had been far too large for her then, but O'reilly had simply grinned down at her; out on his gravel path in the warm summer evening. He had ruffled her hair fondly, scooping her up onto his shoulders as they walked back towards the house she and her mother were renting"You will grow into that jacket one day my girl. And by that point it will be you fixing that old car of mine, I tell you..."
With a shuddering sigh Katka stood up, pulling the jacket close around her. 'And grown into it I have...' she thought bitterly, thinking back to how lithe and thin she had been as a youngster. An energetic storm her mother had always called her, chasing the neighborhood dogs and getting covered in oil from head to foot in O'reilly's garage every other day. She flicked her fringe aside and slipped out from between Nestor's arms, an embarrassed flush already rising in her cheeks again as she muttered "I'm fine... really."
-
Nestor sighed, sensing that what Katka said was only partly true... for he knew how she felt as well. "If you say so," he said, standing up and glancing over at the woman wearing the clothes of a man. "And you are?"
-
"not of importance of you unless you ca ntell me what your name is." she smiles slightly but could not help but stiffle a yawn behind her gloved hand
-
Danny turned to her once again, noting the stranger was a fair bit taller that she was. "My name's Danny."
-
"nice to make your aquiantince. my name is Elizabeth. if any of you are intrested.. i have a job offering. but.. i want to talk to... everyone at once. i dislike repeaing myself."
-
The cat bowed slightly. "Call me Nestor," he said. "It is the name I was given at birth, after all."
-
Katka flicked her fringe to one side, giving an attempt at a smile in Elizabeth's direction as she muttered "Katka... Nice to meet you too." She glanced across at Danny, realizing that up until now she had not known her name, despite her being the reason they had all had somewhere to sleep last night.
With a flick of her tail Katka pulled the jacket close around her again. It was an unnecessary movement of habit from her childhood, as the jacket that was cut for a man already fit snug and would not be easily coaxed into going any tighter around her figure. She huffed a sigh and stuck a thumb over her shoulder, indicating back to the apartments "I could go wake up the others..."
-
Nestor nodded. "I'll come with you," he said, carefully leading her towards the door. He sighed sadly. "I should probably have you come pay your... final respects."
-
With an equal sigh Katka nodded, walking alongside Nestor she tugged at the sleeve of her jacket "Yeah... I guess I should." She glanced across at him as they reached the corridor where their rooms were. Tail flicking she grinned weakly "That splint and the sling helped a lot... Feels like it was only a sprain though. Lucky I didn't break anything I guess..."
-
Nestor nodded. "Yeah. It did." Taking out his key, he opened the door to his room and held it for Katka. The covered body of Mr. O'Leary was visible from where Katka stood.
-
A sharp intake of breath as Katka glanced into the room to the body of Mr O'reilly. Slowly she walked up to the body, amd reaching under the sheet she found a hand, held it tight as she had done so many times when they walked up his gravel path so many summers ago. She huffed a sad laugh. Really it was many summers in the future now, if all of this was truly happening.
Silently Katka pulled the sheet back to cover the hand again, smoothing out the wrinkles. "You were always the father I never had, sir... I loved you for that..." She held back a choked sob and turned back to Nestor. Wiping away tears from her eyes she walked quickly past him, silent tears rolling down her cheeks.
-
Nestor bowed his head and followed Katka out. "We have to bury him, you know that," he said.
-
Danny motioned Elizabeth into her room, opening the door. "Would you like something to eat or drink?" She sauntered in, tail swaying slightly. A small gridle and coffee maker stood on the dresser. She'd bought it a few days after she'd arrived, quickly figuring that he liked tea instead. It hadn't been hard to make it a tea maker after a few modications.
-
she smiled. "thank you so much. i would like to have a glass of anything redaiable avaiable." she sat on the edge of the bed, on a second look she seems more tired. "so how many of you are here..?"
-
Katka nodded, breathing deeply as she wiped away the tears with her sleeve. She sniffed and glanced up at Nestor "Yeah... We should." With a sad flick of her tail Katka turned to look directly at Nestor, a glance over his shoulder back into the room at the covered body "He didn't have a wife, son, daughter or any family that I ever saw... Only I think he didnt mind, he had me. And I think he always had a crush on my mother. You could see in the way his grin would light up when they met." At the last part she huffed small laugh, rubbing her upper arm nervously.
-
Danny smiled and started the coffe maker on tea. It still befuddeled her where she got her skills in electronics, but oh well. Not of too much importance. "Last I checked, six total. One just died though, so just five." She set to making the bed, something she'd missed. "You're welcome to lay down if you're tired. I don't mind."
-
"ah.. shame... a shame one of them died I will be fine as soon as i get a little bit of tea.." she smiles. "where are you from?"
-
The tea was ready in minutes. Danny passed Elizabeth a cup and honey. "Not sure really. Why so interested anyway? Where are you from?"
-
"i have a bit of a fasination with the unusual...as for where i come from, i live here, have lived here, and will most likely die here." *she takes the and sips. she smiles, it was lemon honey. her favorite.
-
Katka nodded, breathing deeply as she wiped away the tears with her sleeve.
The cat smiled sadly. "Don't worry," he said. "From what you said, it sounds like he had a great life. He's going to heaven for sure." He lightly placed a hand on her shoulder. "And I have no doubt that when your own time comes, you'll be reunited with him."
-
Danny pricked her ears curiously. "Oh? Such as what?" She sat beside Elizabeth on the bed, legs crossed and tea in hand.
-
Katka pulled away from Nestor, glaring at him with tearful eyes as she muttered in a seething voice "I'm not a religious person, and neither was he..." She stopped, wiping the tears away brusquely and taking in a deep breath. Eyes glancing everywhere but up at Nestor she tugged at the sleeve of her jacket "Sorry... I shouldn't have been so rude." With a sigh she glanced bashfully up at him and said in a small voice "I appreciate the sentiment in what you said, and he will indeed live on in my heart and memories..."
-
Nestor shook his head. "It's fine," he said. "I understand what you're going through; I've been in a similar place before. But thanks for apologizing anyway." He gently put his arm across her shoulders, trying to comfort her.
-
Katka couldn't help but relax slightly at the close warmth of Nestor, tears no longer leaving their trails down her cheeks. She let a small sigh escape her lips, despite herself, and hugged her arms close around herself. For a moment she stayed like that, remembering when Mr O'reilly had sheltered her under his jacket during a thunderstorm, running and splashing back to the village laughing and shouting.
"We should go make sure the others are awake, like we said we would." She glanced up at Nestor, then slid slowly out from under his arm reluctantly. With a flick of her tail she zipped up her jacket, hands shoved deep into the pockets in a subconscious attempt to retain the warmth.
-
"odd things.. odd people... like things that others have no idea what they are and how they were made... things like tiny call boxes that look so odd... things that end up scattered throught the town. the people intrest me most...."
-
(I'm not going to be responding much the next few days. Kaya can guide my character if need be.)
Danny nodded, thinking. "You wouldn't be able to help me with something would you? I'd like to find some people."
-
She smiled as she drank her tea. "ah. but i do require payment.. nothing to large of a sum... just for you to be my eyes and ears where ever you go... and if i get the names or descriptions.. it is possible i can help you."
-
Nestor followed Katka closely, removing a pen from his pocket and spinning it in his fingers. "Sounds like the other female is talking to that girl from earlier," he said as they passed Danny's room.
-
For a moment Katka paused, a hand held out to steady herself against the wall, as her ear flicked in the direction of the muffled conversation. With sigh she pushed herself off from the wall and continued, a visible limp in her step. She shrugged, sneaking a glance across at Nestor "Yeah, I guess she is..."
A moment longer passed as they walked down the corridor Katka paused again, leaning against the wall as she grimaced. Her ankle still twinged with pain occasionally , shooting up her leg with every step. As she waited for the pain to stop she glanced across at Nestor again, tail flicking as she muttered "So... Before this whole crazy incident. What time period did you say you came from?"
-
Nestor stopped short, blushing. "Um... not yours," he said, accidentally dropping the pen from his own time.
(He's from 2012. Play on it, it'll be more fun.)
-
"I thought..." Katka looked at him curiously, his blushing prompting a hot flush to creep up her own cheeks. With an agitated flick of her tail she unzipped the jacket, tugging subconsciously at the thin purple collar she wore around her neck. "Well, this is a weird conversation, but where are you from?" She shot another curious glance at him, this time surreptitiously looking him up and down as if she could get some clue from his clothes or looks....
-
"The United states, but not from your time," he said, stooping to pick up the pen. "D... does it really matter?"
(Grab the pen before he can. X3 )
-
Katka watched as he stopped down, eyeing him over. With a sweeping movement she snatched the pen from the faded carpet and stood back up. She was surprised that she had gotten to the pen before Nestor did, considering her current state, her belt visibly digging in below her stomach as she knelt down. The swift movement had prompted a sharp stab of pain from her ankle, but she ignored it, spinning the pen between her fingers.
It was a habit she had picked up from a friend years ago in school, the sort of thing you could do for hours on end in the dull heat of classroom, spinning the pen from finger to finger down the length of you hand and back. She grinned a mischievous grin and flicked her tail back and forth as she spun the pen "A Yank then?" Her mind reeled, no time to wonder what she was doing, or why as she glanced him up and down again...
-
Nestor grimanced. "Yeah... but not from your time." He brought out a small calendar. "I'm actually from 2012."
-
The pen span out of control from between Katka's fingers, bouncing off the wall to the floor where it rolled a good few feet along the threadbare carpet. She shot a quick glance to Nestor, regarding him closely as she muttered "It's twenty-twelve back home too... England, granted, but the same year."
-
Nestor looked over at Katka and realized for the first time that her clothes were similar to those from his time period. "Oh, I see now..." He smiled and held out a hand to shake. "Well, at least there's someone from my own time here."
-
Katka shook his hand in return, the hot flush returning to her cheeks as she glanced down at herself. She grinned in return, muttering sheepishly "Yeah, you could probably mistake me for someone from this time period I guess... What with the World War two jacket and everything..."
Still blushing she turned away from Nestor for a moment, rubbing her upper arm in an awkward fashion with her tail flicking. She turned back to steal a glance up at him with a small grin as she muttered "I guess it is nice to know someone from our time is here, yeah..."
-
Nestor smiled back. "Yeah... kind of like those books where one person gets trapped in another dimension and he or she finds another person from their world." He flicked an ear nonchalantly. "So what do you do back in our time?"
-
She smiled as she drank her tea. "ah. but i do require payment.. nothing to large of a sum... just for you to be my eyes and ears where ever you go... and if i get the names or descriptions.. it is possible i can help you."
Danny looked at her suspiciously. "How do I know you won't use it to cause trouble? I DID just meet you."
-
Katka shrugged sheepishly "I'm a mechanic. Still learning the trade though... Mr O'reilly was teaching me a lot about how to fix up antique vehicles-" She stopped, a pain expression at the mention of O'reilly, ears flat back. After a moment she gave a small shake of her head, ears perking up again as she glanced to Nestor "What about you?"
She gave small smirk "I would've guessed at a firefighter or something like that, with the way you carried me over your shoulder... And I'm not exactly lightweight..." At the last comment she smirked and pinched herself just above the hip, finger and thumb sinking into soft flesh as another pink flush rose up her white-furred cheeks.
-
Nestor chuckled. "Well, I suppose I kind of help my father to help the police with crimes... there are some places he can't go into that I can, and since he's just another policeman and I'm... well, myself, sometimes he figures it's better to send me in because I'll attract less attention. But I have learned other skills that can be helpful at times, such as being able to carry people." He grinned. "And you're not fat. You just... um..." He blushed too. "Sorry, can't really think of a way to say what I'm trying to say delicately... hmm... well, let's say you have a slightly heavyset figure that could be considered quite handsome."
( :| Um... what kind of clothes is Katka wearing? Because... well, I'm just a bit confused about it, is there a hole in one side of her shirt or something?)
-
Katka shrugged, rubbing her upper arm with the other hand in an awkward fashion as she muttered "No need to be delicate about it... I know I'm not the skinny little thing I used to be when I was younger. Not like I don't try to keep fit, my metabolism just seems to hate me."
Her ears lay flat as she glanced away from Nestor, sullenly thinking to herself 'No need to be delicate, but I had hoped he might say something other than fat... Curvy, maybe. I'd even have been happy with chubby.' She sighed, eyes flicking across to Nestor 'What the frack am I doing anyway? Trying to flirt with some guy I've just met, after traveling through time... Nothing makes sense anymore!"
Katka's tail flicked back and forth as she stared at a point just to the left of Nestor, then suddenly her ears perked up again and she glanced to him. The pink flush remained in her cheeks but a slightly more cheerful, if forced, look shone in her blue eyes "So you fight crime with you father? Sounds exciting..."
( :S Uh, yeah I could have described that better. She pinched herself through her t-shirt which she wears under the jacket... The jacket still has a tear in it, but not the shirt ;) If you want to check her description its here: http://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?topic=19868.msg879021#msg879021 (http://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?topic=19868.msg879021#msg879021) )
-
(He did say curvy. X3 He just said it weirdly. And thank you for clearing that clothing issue up.)
"Yeah..." he coughed. "Um, I... i don't think I used the right wording to, um, describe you..." He looked from left to right. "Well... I can tell you that I definitely don't think you're fat. I apologize if you thought that's what I meant. What I meant to imply is that you're more... um, curved." He grinned, blushing. "Yeah... sorry, sometimes I tend to over-explain statements that could be answered in one word. Anyway. I think that you're pleasantly and delicately curved, but fat? Never."
-
(Yeah, he did say it in a roundabout way... but she is kind of self-doubting and misread what he said XP and no problem. )
Katka couldn't help but feel the hot prickle across her cheeks and up her neck as she blushed, tail flicking back and forth. Despite herself at small grin tugged a the corners of her mouth as she muttered "Well, uhm... Thanks..." She cocked her head slightly to one side, winding one of the pigtails that hung over her shoulders round her finger a few times distractedly "Glad we cleared that up."
She grinned at how he had stumbled over his choice of wording, noticing an equal flush in his own cheeks. Her thick-furred tail curled around one leg as she said in a sheepish voice "Dont worry, I know what you mean about over-explaining. When I talk to strangers I generally just freeze up, like a rabbit in a cars headlights..." She glanced away from him, going back to rubbing her upper arm gingerly "I just tend to keep myself to myself, in the garage working on the cars people bring in..."
-
The cat glanced sideways, rubbing his own upper arm. "Yeah... I'm not really that much of a social butterfly myself, but sometimes it's necessary. Although even then, I'm barely able to remain calm." He smiled at her. "Kind of a coincidence, huh?"
-
"Social butterfly?" Katka held back a small giggle, grinning up at Nestor. "Sorry, I've lived in England since I was small, after father died, so I consider my English to be pretty good... But sometimes the phrases English speakers use still makes me laugh."
At his last comment she raised her eyebrows and muttered "If you want a coincidence, I would point you to this whole event... A group of people, all traveling through time to meet at roughly the same place and time?" She knelt down and picked up Nestor's pen that she had dropped, holding it out accusingly "This pen shouldn't even exist for more than fifty years-"
Suddenly she stopped and grimaced. A sharp pain had jolted up her ankle at that last movement. Running a shaking hand through her hair she glanced sheepishly up at Nestor, trying not to cry in front of him again at the pain as she muttered "I think I need to sit down... Take the weight off my ankle."
-
Nestor gently leaned down and draped Katka's arm over his shoulder, then stood up so that she could lean on him and keep her weight off of her ankle. He smiled. "Don't worry, I've got you," he said, looking into her eyes. "Let's ask Danny if we could come in her room. I think that that other girl from earlier wanted to meet the rest of us."
-
Katka nodded as she leaned her weight off her ankle, the pain subsiding to a mere twinge as she did so. A slight flush rose up her cheeks as Nestor looked into her eyes, her own blue counterparts glancing away sheepishly as she thought to herself 'I hate feeling so helpless... At least I don't need to be carried again I guess. I don't think I could bare the shame of that again...'
She limped along with Nestor as they walked back towards Danny's room. Her curiosity towards the identity and nature of the stranger, as well as what the plan was to do next, was replaced with a concentrated effort to keep as little of her weight on the sprained ankle as she walked, tail flicking back and forth to try and help counter balance.
-
Nestor smiled at Katka. wow... she's so nice, he said. And she understands me... and... she's a rather pretty girl... He blushed at that last thought, smiling.
Finally at Danny's room, he knocked gently on the door. "Danny?" he called. "Open up, it's us."
-
Danny and Elizabeth had sat quietly after discussing terms. They'd been rather comfortable together, much to Danny's surprise. She hadn't talked much to anyone after she'd woken up, preferring to stay safe, and it'd felt a bit strange talking to the stranger at first.
The knock started her out of her thoughts, Nester's voice bringing back her carefulness. She still didn't know these people. It'd take time for trust to form. "Come in."
-
"Okay." Nestor opened the door and walked inside, holding the door for Katka as he supported her.
-
The doors to the apartments in the block were all narrow and heavily built. Not the kind of doors you could kick down in a hurry. Because of this however, the doors were also never meant for two people to try and get through at the same time. Limping through the doorway face-to-face with Nestor, Katka had to press close as she leaned her weight on him, a pink flush in her cheeks as she tried to focus on just keeping the weight off her sprained ankle.
Once into Danny's apartment Katka slipped away from Nestor, limping the few steps to Danny's bed and sitting down heavily with a grimace. She muttered an apology to Danny as she unlaced her boot and slipped it off, checking her ankle for any tell-tale swelling. After briefly checking, and when wiggling her bare toes didn't produce any stabs of pain, she sighed and glanced around the room.
-
Nestor blushed deeply as he felt Katka lean against him as they squeezed through the doorway. She's so soft, he thought, trying to keep his emotions under control as her sweet scent filled his nostrils. As the white-furred feline slipped away from him to sit on the bed, Nestor felt an odd feeling come over him, one that he had never felt before. Shrugging, he closed the door and walked over to where the others were, at which point he leaned against the wall.
-
Katka glanced around the room, taking in the surroundings and people now that she had gotten the weight off her ankle. The room itself looked a lot more lived in than her own room had been. While it was tidy, it had a definite feel of being occupied on a daily basis. From the coffee maker to the occasional personal item here and there.
The smell of the fresh tea still hung in the air, and Katka covertly sniffed at the sweet scent. Lemon or honey she guessed. As she did so her stomach growled loudly, a pink flush rising in her cheeks as she muttered "Sorry... I just haven't eaten for fifty years or so." At this she suddenly glanced across at the stranger, realizing that she may not know about the time travel...
-
Nestor grinned and sat down next to Katka. "Yeah, it has been a while since we all ate," he said. "Perhaps we should pause for some tea or something of the sort?" He was filled with the unknown emotion again as he inhaled Katka's scent. She smells nice, too he thought, resisting the temptation to wrap his arm around her waist so that they could be closer.
-
Danny smiled lightly and opened the top drawer of the dresser, pulling out a mixing bowl, pancake mix, and measuring cup. "Perhaps you'd like pancakes as well?" She reset the coffe maker for tea and started measuring amounts for the pancakes. "It's close to lunch anyway. I'll wake the last of our group when the pancakes are done."
Her coat covered most of her figure, flaring at the hips and falling to her knees. Black pants and black flat boots gave her a bit of a dark feeling. Her shoulders were rather strong looking though, as well as her arms and what was visible of her legs. There was definitely an air of power surrounding her, even with the curls she'd pulled into a pony tail. She glanced back at them. "So, where you from?"
-
Nestor raised a finger inquiringly. "Time, country, or place?" he said, glancing over at Katka for a brief second before returning his gaze to Danny.
-
Katka pulled her boot back on and laced it up again. Once laced up tightly it helped keep the ankle straight, almost like a splint, and she noticed relieved the pressure on the joint. She stood up and turned slightly away from the others as Danny brought out the necessary things to cook pancakes.
Covertly she loosened her belt by a notch, letting her cargo pants slip down a little further to her hips. The belt had been too tight anyway, and she thought it drew attention away from the fact that the pants no longer fit her perfectly, digging in below her navel in an uncomfortable and embarrassing way that she didn't like.
'That and it shows off my hips a bit more...' She thought sarcastically, almost sneering at herself in her thoughts. But, she figured, it was the little things like that you had to do if you were going to love yourself for who you are. At this Katka sighed, pinching at her stomach just above the belt as she attempted to pull her shirt down a little more. With that done she turned back to face the others, waiting for the answer to Nestor's question...
-
Nestor heard Katka doing something beside him and tried not to blush as he realized that a section of her waist was now visible. Keep your eyes on Danny, he told himself mentally. Don't look back... not yet... He kept his attention on Danny, managing to avoid looking back at Katka.
-
(Sorry. Kennywood, family, Hell on earth mornings...)
Danny started pouring the batter, filling the air with the smell of food. Not heavenly, but certainly good. "All three preferably. Right now, you're in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 1925. Don't believe the time traveller part, but I'll humor you."
She grabbed a set of cheap plates from the drawer, setting them beside her for when they were done.
-
"Alright," Nestor said, nodding. "I'm from Providence, Rhode Island in the US in 2012." He turned to Katka, blushing slightly as he took in her beautiful form, from her blue eyes to her long black hair to the silky white fur of her exposed section of waist. "Mrrr... Um... I.. I think that it's your t-turn now..." He blushed deeply.
-
Katka slipped her jacket off and hung it over the end of the bed, leaving her thin black t-shirt with the TANKER logo scrawled across the front. It was a lot warmer in Danny's room compared to the corridor outside, and the radiator in her own room had been stuck in the off position all night. As Nestor turned back to her Katka couldn't help but notice him staring. It was the reaction she had hoped for, yes, but it still came as a surprise to her. No-one else that she could remember gave her that kind of look, and a small shiver ran down her spine to end in a flick of her tail in response.
She spoke in a quiet voice as she sat back down on the bed beside Nestor "Well, originally I'm from Štrbské Pleso, its a small mountain town in Slovakia..." Her pronunciation of the town name dropped from a slight English accent to a different, more sultry East-European accent as she spoke. Switching back seamlessly as she glanced up at Danny "But, we moved to England when I was quite young. Another small village town, near Gloucester. "
As she spoke, one hand idly rubbed at the fur of her upper arm. She smirked and said "I barely believe this whole time-travel ordeal myself. But so long as you are humoring me, I'm from the same year as Nestor..."
-
Nestor blushed and looked down at his boots, still blushing. "Um... yeah, we're from the smae year," he said, risking another glance at Katka. She's so... so beautiful...
-
Elizabeth could not help but smile slightly at all the flirting going on in the room she sat quietly watching and listening to what everyone was saying. Doubt it or not you can get a lot of information from the little things. the time traveling subject sparked her intrest though. "I am from this time and been to a barrage of different places and... i may have quite a few things that will intrest you.."
-
Danny's finished pancakes were quickly set on the plates and passed out. "Sorry, no syrup. I can't find it in stores." She didn't immediately answer the implied question. She tossed it about in her mind, unsure of what to say. She really didn't know any answers, only the basic 'America' part. Finally she settled on a simple answer. "I'm from around."
-
Katka's stomach growled again as she watched Danny flip the pancakes out onto the plates. She really was hungry, a pink flush in her cheeks as she took her plate with a shyly muttered thank you to Danny. Balancing the plate on her lap she started to eat, no care for the lack of syrup, simply the fact that the pancakes were warm and sated her hunger.
As she ate Katka sooched a little closer to Nestor, under the cover of shifting so she could see both Danny and Elizabeth when they spoke. Eating in silence her tail flicked back and forth lazily over the edge of the bed. With butterflies in her stomach she felt her tail brush against Nestor's, glancing slyly at him from the corner of her eye. Her tail continued to flick back and forth as she ate, chewing slowly with a small grin. For a moment she didn't even realize what Elizabeth had said, glancing up at her and swallowing before saying "I'm sorry, but what kind of things?"
-
Nestor, who had been eating as well with slightly more manners, blushed as he felt Katka's tail tip brush lightly against his. So soft... so soft... Blushing deeper, he swallowed and looked over at Elizabeth. "Yeah... I was k-kinda interested in that too..." He glanced over at Katka again, taking in her beauty.
-
"bits and peices of information and other items that may be of intrest... but both of you seem to be a little pre-occupied with each other." she smiles slightly as she looks between Nestor and Katka.
-
Nestor widens his eyes, blushing deeply. He suddenly becomes quite interested in eating, although in truth he was trying to come up with something to say. Swallowing, he said "Well... um... I.. I guess it's because we're ... from the same, um, time..." He blushed even deeper and turned his head to look in a random direction.
-
Katka blushed as well, chewing the pancake in her mouth slowly. She glanced down at her feet then back up to Elizabeth and swallowed, tail flicking she grinned shyly and muttered "Yeah... Same time period." Still grinning she ate another fork-full of pancake, eyes darting across at Nestor. Swallowing again she nodded to Elizabeth and said in a small and still rather shy voice "Sorry... You were saying, bits and pieces of information?"
-
Elizabeth let out a loud laugh a bit odd for someone her size. she seemed older than she looked and was. "dont you worry about it. things like that are fun to watch unfold."she smiled and finished her tea. "thank you for the Tea Danny. my ...mmm associates and i collect information on the strange and unusual... but i need everyone in here and i want to get to know you all before explaining mor. that way i can tell if i can trust you or not."
-
Nestor decided to risk another glance at Katka, taking in her beauty again. She was chewing a forkful of pancake, and to him it was adorable. Blushing again, the cat went back to eating. "Alright... w-what would you like to know, miss...?"
-
Danny smiled. "There's pancakes too if you're hungry." She listened to their conversation as she cooked, setting more pancakes out. "I'll go wake our companion." She turned the skillet off, heading out without having eaten yet.
Easengar's room was just down the hall, another ordinary door. She knocked. "You up in there?"
-
Nestor smiled jokingly after Danny left. "I guess it's hard to find where the pancakes are," he said, motioning to the obvious area where the pancakes were.
-
Katka had finished her pancakes, chewing the last mouthful. From out of the corner of her eye she could see Nestor watching her eat and at this she couldn't help but blush, doing her best to pretend she had not noticed. Tail flicking happily she swallowed and licked her lips. Still surprisingly hungry she eyed the rest of the pancakes, unsure of how rude it would be to take another.
As the sound of Danny's footsteps receded down the corridor, a sudden boom of thunder crashed over the rooftops, echoing through the streets. Katka's ears flicked up at the sound and she she almost dropped her plate, blushing slightly at how jumpy she was. The thunder rolled on and on, even as the first raindrops started to patter down onto the roofs of the city.
-
Blushing slightly, Nestor gently took her Katka's and his plates and put them over by the pancakes, then came back over, removed his own jacket, and lightly draped it over her shoulders, blushing more deeply. "Um... I... I thought it would..." The cat sat down, shutting his mouth. I... I think I've really fallen for her... He scootched a bit closer to her, his tail tip lightly brushing against hers.
-
For a moment Katka shirked away from the jacket, muttering sheepishly about having her own jacket, then she sighed and let him wrap it around her. In a small voice she half-whispered a thank you and pulled the jacket close around herself. His jacket was still warm, and when Nestor moved closer she couldn't help but grin shyly.
Outside the rain grew harsher, running down the windows and pattering off the sill. As another muffled crash of thunder rolled over the rooftops Katka daringly put a hand on Nestor's thigh, flinching it back just for a moment as she touched the denim. Her blush spread quickly as she scooched right up next to him and her tail flicked happily against his as she huddled close to his warmth. Occasionally she caught Elizabeth's eye as they waited for Danny, sheepishly grinning at her amused expression. Something in her eyes told her that Elizabeth had lived and seen a good deal more than she had.
-
(I'm wearing jeans? @.@ )
Nestor blushed as Katka scooched up close to him and laid her hand on his thigh for a brief moment. Smiling sheepishly, he gently wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her a bit closer, also flicking his tail against hers as he huddled close to her warmth. I... I think I'm in love... Nestor thought, murring a bit before blushing again.
-
(Uhm... maybe? XP Maybe you're legs are actually made of denim o.O )
Katka almost flinched as Nestor put an arm around her waist. She cringed, suddenly made very aware of how tight the waistband of her cargo pants was when she sat down. She disliked the 'cute love-handles', as her mother used to say with a smirk on her face, that made themselves obvious above her hips. Glancing awkwardly up at Nestor she shifted where she sat, trying to surreptitiously loosen the waistband so it was less uncomfortable, all she succeeded in doing however was to make herself feel even more self-conscious.
With a huffed sigh she slipped Nestor's jacket off her shoulders and stood up. Grabbing her own jacket she pulled it on, nodding to the door as she glanced at the rain running down the windows. "I'm feeling kind of cold and I left my fingerless gloves in my room just down the hall. I'll go get them while Danny's gone." She took a step to the door and then stopped, biting her lip at the pain in her ankle. With another sigh she glanced over at Nestor, muttering "Sorry Nestor, but can you help? My ankle still feels shot to hell..."
-
( :o Um... let's go with the jeans.)
Nestor smiled and stood up, slipping his jacket on. It still smelled of Katka, a fact that he rather liked. Walking over to Katka, he gently draped the white-furred cat's arm across his shoulders and wrapped an arm around her for support. "Sure thing," he said, blushing deeply.
-
(btw, Katka's fur is grey... She only has white fur on her cheeks, neck, chest and stomach as well as the tip of her tail ;) )
Clenching her teeth at the pain Katka walked to the door with Nestor's help. At the door it was the same ordeal to get out, then into the corridor. With a huffed sigh Katka pulled the door closed behind them. Once the door closed with a click she slipped away from Nestor, turning to face him with a frown and her hands on her hips as she spoke in a hissed voice "Okay... Before what we have going on between us gets any more serious I just want to ask something... You said that I have a figure that may be considered handsome... Stressing the word may..."
Her tail flicked as she stared at him, a confused look in her eyes as she switched from hands on hips to rubbing at her upper arm gingerly "I just want to know whether you like how I look, rather than just flattering me." She glanced away from him with a pained look, shoving her hands deep into the pockets of her jacket as she muttered "Personally I can hardly believe someone would. I sure as hell don't..."
-
Nestor barely heard a word Katka said, entranced by her beauty. Before he could stop himself, he moved forward a few steps and hugged her tight. "You're beautiful," he said. "No matter what you say." He blushed deeply.
-
Katka let out a surprised mewl as Nestor hugged her close. For a moment she thought about struggling against it, but something in the way he had said it sounded truthful. Her tail flicked as she looked up at him; there probably wasn't any point in trying to break free of his hug anyway, he was strong enough to carry her over his shoulder after all. With the muffled sound of the rain lashing the roof in the background, Katka sighed and let her head rest against his chest, muttering quietly "Okay... I'll take you're word for it then."
-
Nestor smiled and gently rested his head on hers, smiling as he closed his eyes. He could feel her breathe as they hugged, her soft, warm breath gently heating his shirt the soft fur of her ears near his face. Yeah... I am totally in love, he thought, gently rubbing her upper back.
-
Getting no answer, Danny knocked on the door again. "Hey, kid, we're waiting for you." She picked the lock quickly, stepping in. The room was no different from the rest of them, decent for the money. She walked over and shook his shoulder. "Earth to you Kid. Pancakes ahoy."
-
As soon as nestor and katka left, Elizabeth started rooting through her pockets pulling out small peices of different items. other things included a small cellphone, a shattered ipod, and a small mp3 player. she had no idea what thiese things were... she kinda hoped they would when they got back.
-
Katka slid her arms around Nestor's waist and hugged him back. Her ears flicked happily, tickling under his chin as she hugged close to him, feeling his chest rise and fall with every breath. After a moment she sighed and slipped out from between his arms, glancing up at Nestor with a meek smile. "We should probably go get my gloves. Don't want to make Elizabeth wait any longer than she has to."
Once they got to the door of her apartment Katka unlocked it and the two of them squeezed through. She closed it behind them with a bump of her hip, slipping away from Nestor to find her gloves. Her bed lay unmade from where she had slept in it, but a quick glance over it did not procure her gloves.
With a frown katka got down on her hands and knees. She huffed sigh and wriggled her way under the bed, tail flicking in the air she reached for the gloves that had managed to slip behind the bed. After a moment she clambered back out, clenching her gloves and covered in what looked like ten years worth of cobwebs. She put a hand to her mouth, smothering a giggle with a *snrk* sound. Shaking cobwebs from her hair she grinned "Okay... I got the gloves..."
-
Nestor smiled. "So you did," he said, walking into the room. "Need any help getting the cobwebs off?"
-
Katka stuck her tongue out in mock disgust as she wiped as much of the cobwebs out of her hair as possible. Her cheeks flushed pink as she glanced up at Nestor, muttering "Okay... Its was kind of mucky under there." The cobwebs still clung to her front, showing up more on the black shirt than the already weather-worn jacket. With a huff she blew a lock of hair out of her eyes and glanced down at something she had found alongside the gloves, cobwebs clinging to it...
-
Nestor gently brushed the cobwebs off of Katka, avoiding her breasts completely. That would have been too awkward, and he was already blushing from brushing the cobwebs off of her waist and back. "So... what did you find?" he said. "It looks like your gloves weren't the only thing back there..."
-
Katka blushed as well as Nestor brushed the cobwebs off her, distracted for a moment from the photo she held in her hand. She grinned shyly up at him as she brushed the last of the cobwebs off her chest and the lapels of her jacket. With a flick of her tail she turned her attention back to the photo, frowning as she flicked the cobwebs from it.
"Its a photo, I think... Only someone's burnt a corner of it." Sure enough one corner was gone, the edges scorched and blackened. Staring closely at the three people in the photo Katka's frown grew, her tail flicking as she muttered "But... Its a photo of my... Parents... And me..." She held it up for Nestor to see. Two felines stood in the grainy black and white photo. One looked a lot like Katka, only older and with her hair cut short. The other was a wildcat with striped fur and a neat-cut jacket. Inbetween them both a young girl clung to her father's leg, a much younger Katka.
She glanced up at Nestor, a confused look in her blue eyes, muttering in a small voice"What on earth is this doing here? I've never even seen this photo before... My mother never had any photos of my father, and I barely remember what he looked like..."
-
Nestor rubbed his chin. "Yes... this is quite a mystery... How did a picture of you and your parents wind up behind a bed in a hotel in the 1920s?" He thought for a second. "What if the reason that you never met your father," he said, "was because he was long dead?"
-
Katka gave a little shake of her head, frowning "No, no... My father died in a car crash." She glanced up at Nestor "It was up in the mountains near our village. His car went off the road, through the crash barrier and into the lake... Its a deep lake, and they never found the car..." With a confused frown she shoved the photo deep into the pocket of her jacket "...Or his body. At least, that's what my mother said."
-
Nestor raised an eyebrow. "Sounds rather suspicious to me," he said. The cat glanced around the room. "What if this is the room that you were concieved in?" He blushed. "Um... sorry. Just... listing theories."
-
Katka wrinkled her nose and stuck her tongue out at him, suppressing the urge to giggle as she muttered "Eew, Nestor... List theories that don't involve that, please." Despite this she grinned, glancing around the room as well. For a moment she stood there, tail flicking as she thought, then she shrugged her shoulders and limped over to Nestor. Putting an arm over his shoulder she intentionally bumped hips with him, tail curling around his leg. "I don't know. But lets get back and see what Elizabeth had to show us... Maybe she knows something that could help."
-
Nestor blushed as Katka bumped his hip and wrapped her tail around his leg, smiling awkwardly. "Y-yeah... let's do that," he said, draping her arm over his shoulders and wrapping his arm around her waist.
-
As they squeezed through the door again Katka pressed close up against Nestor, perhaps a little unnecessarily close, the fur of her stomach brushing against him. She paused for a moment, glancing up at him as they stood close in the doorway. "I don't know why you mentioned this room being where my parents conceived me..." Then she grinned slyly. "Unless it was a subtle hint..."
With that she continued out of the door and closed it behind them, walking back to Danny's apartment. She grinned. Just how much she had been joking, even she didn't know. It was just fun to finally have a boundary to push against in terms of how daring she could be... She glanced up at Nestor as they reached the door to Danny's apartment and made their way in. 'Its also fun seeing how much he blushes whenever I mention something like that...' She thought with a smirk.
-
Nestor blushed deeply as Katka spoke, as her belly fur brushed against the material of his t-shirt. "Um... I... I..." He blushed deeper. "I'm not s-sure what you mean," he finished at last. Although perhaps... maybe in the future... He blushed even more deeply at that thought, his arm around Katka's waist as they walked back to Danny's apartment. Once again, as they made their way in, he and Katka had to get close, which made him blush again. S-so warm, Nestor thought, continuing to blush even as Katka and he made it through the door and she was no longer against him.
-
Katka slipped away from Nestor and walked over to Elizabeth, careful not to put too much weight on her ankle. She sat down on the edge of the bed, hitching her cargo pants down a bit as she did so in an attempt to stop the belt digging in. With a small frown she turned her eyes to the numerous items Elizabeth had spread out across the bedsheets, glancing across them all.
She glanced across to Nestor, then back to Elizabeth, tail flicking as she said "These are all things from our time period... Or at least near enough, as I would guess from the look of them." She leaned across the bed to reach an old nokia cell phone. The casing was smashed, and like some of the other items it seemed to have been burned or scorched, the plastic bubbled and blackened at the edges. Katka frowned, muttering "Where did you find all this?"
-
various places in the city.. and in other cities.. ive been getting them mailed from associates and the like.. there are some past items too but those are just antiques.. i have no idea what most of these are. i would like for all of you to come back to my place.. but it seems like Esganar is still sleeping...." she glances about the room. then looks at the cofee/tea maker. "It seems like Danny has a bit of knowlage of the eletronic devices... i honestly have no idea how she made my tea with that instead of a kettle...."
-
Nestor sat down next to Katka and looked at the items over her shoulder. "Those are definitely from our time," he said, gently laying a gentle hand on Katka's shoulder. "If you would like to have us tell you what they are, we can. And about the machine over there, it actually works quite similarly to a kettle. You see..."
*Nestor starts to explain the necessary parts and components, confusing the heck out of Elizabeth.*
(Someone just stop him by putting a hand over his mouth and asking kindly please.)
-
Elizabeth shushes him. "quiet please.... i dont need to know how they work... i just want to know how they are getting thrown back here.. if they are indeed from your time.."
-
Nestor smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, I'm like a dictionary sometimes," he said. "However, I don't have any idea as to why they keep ending up here..." He widened his eyes as a thought came to him. "Um... could you possibly step into the hall for a second? I'd like to talk to my friend here alone," the cat said, rubbing Katka's shoulder.
-
Katka smirked as Nestor proceeded to go into depth about transistors and various other electrical components. She grinned up at him, thinking it rather endearing how he talked like that. As he sheepishly apologized she flicked her tail back and forth against his leg, looking up at him with a smile as she thought to herself 'He seems to innocent at times like that... And knowledgeable... I consider myself to have a good working knowledge of mechanics, and what he recited was word for word perfect...'
When Nestor mentioned stepping outside Katka frowned, clenching her hand around the photograph in her pocket. For a moment she thought to pull it out and show to Elizabeth, but she refrained from doing so. She had noticed something about the photo, and Nestor had provided the perfect opportunity for her to show him, before she tried showing it to Elizabeth or anyone else...
-
sure.. though.. *Elizabeth stands and moves into the hall but stays close to the door.*
-
Nestor waited until Elizabeth was outside, then leaned close to Katka. "So... should we show her the picture?" he asked quietly.
-
Katka shrugged in a noncommittal fashion, pulling the photograph out of her pocket as she whispered back "I don't know whether we should. But I noticed this..." She glanced down at the figures in the photograph, staring intently at the man she knew to be her father. With a flick of her tail she flipped the photo over and leaned in closer to Nestor, showing him the back of the photograph.
The back of the photo was burned and scorched, more so than the front, and covered in grime and cobwebs. Katka brushed them off and pointed to a short message scrawled across the back of the photo in blue ink. The writing read: 'J.C.Dowling~23rd Liberty Avenue~'
Katka stared at the writing intently, muttering "It looks like it was written on after the photo was burned... At the corner, where its scorched, the ink is actually over the burn marks..." She stared at the writing, then glanced up at Nestor "What do you think?"
-
(Okay, I'm taking over Easengar till he get back on. I need to do SOMETHING.)
Easengar flipped over, groaning. It'd been a long night, fitful at best and impossible at worst. He sat up. "I'll be there. Just let me get dressed or something."
Danny shrugged and left to walk down the hall. Thunder rolled around her, rain drenching the walk around her. It was only half covered, the walk outdoors to allow easy access to the doors. She hardly reacted to the rain that fell on her or the lightning that flashed nearby. It was actually rather calming to her. Wonderfully natural in a world of cars and houses.
She stepped into her room, closing the door behind her and leaning on the wall. When Katka mentioned writing, she pricked her ears curiously. "Am I interupting something?"
-
( Good call... I had hoped he would be back before now :/ )
Katka nearly jumped as Danny walked in, half hiding the photograph like a guilty child caught red-handed by the cookie jar. She cringed slightly, glancing sheepishly from Danny to Nestor. Finally she sighed and held out the photo to Danny. "Well I guess you can tell Elizabeth to come back in if I'm going to be showing you. I found this in my room under the bed... Its a photo of me and my parents, when I was younger before my dad died." She rubbed at her upper arm awkwardly as she nodded to the photo, muttering "It looks like it had been there a while. And theres writing on the back..."
-
(Danny, no offense, but that was really rude of your character.)
(However, it was also rather funny, so I'm ok with it. X3 )
"Hmmm..." Nestor pondered over the words for a second. "I think that it's time for us to go out on the town."
-
(pointing something out... it is her room... XD )
Elizabeth listened through the door. things were about to get intresting.
-
Katka glanced between Nestor and Danny, her tail flicking awkwardly. With a sheepish shrug she muttered to Danny "We've caused you enough trouble already, what with you renting the apartments for us... If you don't want to be involved in whats going on here I understand..." At that she walked over to the door and opened it, motioning for Elizabeth to come in out of the rain.
-
Nestor followed Katka in case she needed his assistance.
-
Elizabeth walked in and took a seat on a chair again in sted of the bed. "Danny you do not mind me intruding into your room once again do you?" she asked politely.
-
Danny motioned them to sit, leaning on the wall. "I'd rather know than let this fester. Besides. I have a feeling you'd be more trouble to assist if I don't know." She smiled mildly, walking to the dresser and getting her own breakfast. She wasn't particularly enthused by the prospect of more trouble, but it wasn't as if she was making progress on her own on much of anything. "One condition though. If I find out any of you are doing anything illegal and there isn't a good reason, I have every right to take the person to the police."
-
Katka closed the door behind Elizabeth as she walked back in, shutting the door on a steady downpour of rain that sluiced off the roof. She glanced up as Nestor followed close behind, a small feeling of resentment that he thought she would need help, a reminder how helpless she was with just a sprained ankle. With a sigh she let him help her back across the room and sat down again to listen to Danny.
For a moment Katka stared out the window, watching the rain trickle down the pane, droplets hitting the window sill every few seconds as the clouds rolled overhead. She glanced across to Danny and nodded. "Sounds reasonable." At that she stood up, leaning heavily on Nestor as she avoided her bad ankle. "What about you Elizabeth?"
-
Nestor blushed as Katka leaned on him.
-
(Kaya, you need to post.)
Danny started wiping down the now cool griddle, waiting for Elizabeth's answer.
-
(sorry got distracted.. and this kinda keeps disappearing off of my unread replies tab.)
Elizabeth nods. "never expected you to be a goody goody. but i will fore warn you... you mettel in my business and screw it up.. there will be consequences.
-
Katka glanced from Elizabeth to Danny, muttering sheepishly "I'm, uh... Sure everybody here is perfectly legal in their actions... " She then glanced down and fumbled with the zip of her jacket, doing it up all the way to the v-neck of her shirt, hiding the printed logo across her chest. With a small sigh she muttered "Hopefully I look inconspicuous enough to go outside... My jacket at least is from around this time." She glanced to the other three, tail flicking as she clenched the photograph in one hand.
-
Nestor smiled, placing a hand gently on Katka's shoulder. "You look fine," he said. "You'll fit right in."
-
Danny continued to clean up, not looking over as she spoke. "If you want to find anything on why, how, who, and what not of what you're doing here, you need a place to start. Any ideas?"
(Uh, I just realized something. It'd be rather confusing to residents of the time if you refer to it as World War II, even if that's where the jacket's from. World War two won't start for fourteen years, and we won't be involved for seventeen years. Just putting that out there.)
-
"Hmm... Perhaps we could start by talking to that policeman from earlier," Nestor said. "He seemed friendly enough."
-
Katka flinched slightly as Nestor placed a hand on her shoulder. She relaxed and smiled sheepishly up at him, then glanced between him and Danny. "Well, I thought we could try and find this..." She squinted at the back of the photograph. The handwriting was looped and the ink faded as she wrinkled her nose in concentration. "...23rd Liberty Avenue. Do you know where that is?" With a cautious flick of her tail she rubbed her upper arm, muttering. "Whoever 'J.c Dowling is, if they still live at that address I would have thought they would be the person most likely to know..."
She glanced back to Nestor, linking her arm tentatively around his upper arm as she said "Well, if we see him that is... A policeman could help I guess... It just matters how much they would know. From the evidence so far, news of this whole event hasn't exactly gotten far at all..." Frowning she glanced out at the rain dashing against the window and muttered "Odd really. You would have thought this kind of thing would be difficult to cover up or not to notice..."
-
"Well... it is the 1920s," Nestor said, blushing as Katka linked her arm around his. "Peopel didn't notice much back then if there was a good reason in front of it... No offense, Elizabeth."
-
Danny thought for a moment. "May I see the picture? I've been down that way before, so I might recognise them."
-
Katka shook her head very slightly, holding the photo up for Danny to see anyway. "No, the photo is of me and my family when I was young." She handed the photograph over to Danny and motioned to the address and name on the back. "I've never heard of anyone by that name before though... Its just the fact that a photograph of my father is here is what I find so strange." She hugged close to Nestor as Danny studied the photo.
(And yeah Danny, mentioning World War two wouldn't be the best thing to do at a time when there has only been one great war so far :P )
-
Nestor blushed deeply, purring a bit before hugging back. "Y-yeah... strange..."
-
((By the way, Danny may recognize Katka's father from the photograph as the unnamed gunman who was killed by police a month or so ago, during a struggle to arrest him. The news got a small article in the local newspaper with little coverage and only a single image of the gunman, while the police refused to give further details. As i said, up to you whether or not she saw this news or recognizes him... Same for you Kaya ;) ))
-
Danny would you mind passing me the photograph after you have finished looking at it...? *elizabeth asks*
-
Nestor scooched a bit closer to Katka. "Sorry... kinda cold in here," he said, blushing.
-
Katka stood watching Danny look over the photo and the cryptic message. She gave a small jump of surprise as Nestor moved close just behind her, then glanced over her shoulder up at him and grinned sheepishly. "Mhm... This rain doesn't look like letting up either." At that she looked back to the window and the sheets of grey rain that lashed against it.
She shivered slightly and wriggled backwards closer to Nestor in return, until the backside of her trousers and jacket brushed close to his front. Her cheeks flushed from white to red, and after a hesitant moment she put her hands behind her, tentatively sliding them into the front pockets of Nestor's trousers. Warmth slowly returned to her fingertips, tail flicking happily against Nestor's legs, as she waited to see what Danny and Elizabeth had to say about the photo.
-
Nestor blushed deeply as Katka's hands slid into his pockets. "Yeah... it's not," he said, murring a bit. Looking from side to side, he gently reached his hands around Katka and fastened them in front of her waist, blushing very deeply.
-
(Gah! Sorry. I had to relocate a bunch of gravel yesterday with the boys, and we've been helping whenever Sergei needs it with the addition. I haven't had much time to post.)
Danny studied the photo. "I think I know where this is. I can take you there, but only the older man is at all familiar. I saw him in the papers I was browsing for info on the year. Don't know the name though, or what happened. Sorry." She passed the photo back. "Come to think of it actually, that's two streets down from where I woke up. Decent neighborhood last I checked."
-
( Really, no need to worry... Sounds like you had your hands full so I don't blame you for not having time to post :) )
Katka flinched momentarily as Nestor linked his arms around her waist, glanced over her shoulder back at him and gave a small smirk. She attempted to relax again, but instead could only cringe, her attention drawn to his fingers sinking into her soft fur and stomach. As such it took her a moment or two to realize what Danny had said.
When at least she did, she took the photo back with a frown. "But that's impossible, surely... You mean you saw someone in the papers who looked like him?" Taking the opportunity, she slipped out from between Nestor's arms. Tugging on the bottom of her shirt, despite it already covering as much of her waist as it could, she walked the few paces across the room to hand the photo over to Elizabeth.
She stood beside Elizabeth as she looked over the photograph, staring distractedly at Danny with her tail flicking. "That photo is of my father. He was born in the sixties, not the nineteen twenties... Anyway, I thought you were from this time period. And said you don't believe in this whole time travel nonsense. So what do you mean, 'where you woke up'?"
-
Elizabeth smiled when she saw the picture "that is quite doubtfull. he was one of my greatest information collectors. such a plesent older fellow. im so sorry about his death.. this.. this man was your father?" she glanced down at the photo then back at her. "he was a great help to me and my father before both of them died..." she handed back the picture.
-
Nestor got up and stood behind Katka, still thinking about how soft the fur of her belly was and blushing deeply. "H... what happened?" he asked Elizabeth. "H-how did they... die?"
-
(that is up to you kitt...)
-
(Ok Kaya... And I like what you did with that ;) )
Katka glanced over her shoulder to Nestor as he put the question to Elizabeth. She would have moved close to him again, but instead she frowned and interjected, shaking her head with arms folded defensively "No... My father died when I was about six." She glared at Elizabeth. "That was in 1996, he was killed in a car crash, drove off the road into the lake near Plešivec. The man you know can't possibly have been my father..."
Despite herself she found her voice faltering, glancing back to Nestor again. She had already told him of the suspicious events around that car crash. Why no one in the village ever talked of how a car and its driver could never be found in a lake that was hardly very deep at all...
She sighed, muttering. "Although... With the photo and all." Katka glanced down to it, flipping the photograph over to the scrawled address, not wanting to look at the smiling face of her father who she thought she had known. "We should go to the address and try and find this J.C Dowling, whoever they are. Maybe they can shed some light on this..." She slid the photo carefully into the breast pocket of her jacket, ears flat back and turmoil in her expression.
-
Nestor gently touched Katka's shoulder. "I'll come with you," he said, looking at her with an honest expression. "It'll be easier to search with two people."
-
Danny shifted uncomfortably at Katka's question, rather unsure of how to answer. She couldn't well say she was from the time or place, as silly as the former was, if she had no idea herself. She'd awoken in an abandoned building, boarded up and set for demolition. The only things around her was some sort of high tech box stuck in the wall and pieces of something that'd exploded. Hardly clues to what she was doing there or who she was. She breathed a sigh of relief when Elizabeth steered the subject back to Katka's father. "I can show you where that is when the weather lets up."
-
Katka watched Danny for an answer, noting how while she normally held herself with confidence, here she looked uncomfortable and unsure. Her scrutiny had only lasted a moment however, and was soon forgotten after Elizabeth's talk of her father.
When Nestor placed a hand on her shoulder she sighed and reached her own hand over, lightly touched his and gripping his hand very slightly. With a nod of her head to Danny she muttered meekly "Thank you... The rain should be over quick I would hope, the thunder and main body of the storm passed over some time ago." With that said she glanced over her shoulder to Nestor and smiled weakly, thanks enough in her blue eyes.
-
Nestor smiled back, clasping her hand tightly. "Well, it can't rain all the time..."
(I will give you a cookie if you tell me... WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP... what movie that quote is from.)
-
Katka stared at Nestor curiously and smirked, almost breaking into laughter despite the situation, then gave a small shake of her head. "Quoting films from the 90's now, are we?" She grinned anyway and gripped his hand back with a small grin. Flicking her tail she glanced across at Danny again, a quizzical look as Katka wondering what she might be not telling them.
Despite the jokes, the rain did indeed seem to be slowly lifting. It no longer barraged the window and roof like hail although a constant downpour of grey drizzle still fell over the streets.
(Oh my, I actually know this one... The Crow, I believe? :P )
-
(YES! *gives you a cookie*)
Nestor blushed. "Yeah... one of my favorite quotes actually..." Smiling, he looked out the window. "It definitely works in this situation."
-
(*nomnom* ^_^ Man, I watched that quite some time ago :P )
Katka's lips twitched with an amused smirk at the fact she had got the reference. Shifting where she stood, and after a moments hesitation, she leaned her weight on Nestor, an arm wrapped around his lean waist.
She glanced sheepishly across to Danny and silently wished that she did not have to be show herself as so weak in front of her, fighting a new wave of hot flush prickling her cheeks. With the little first aid knowledge that she had however, she knew that keeping weight off a sprained ankle was important, even if the pain had lessened.
-
Nestor blushed deeply and gently wraped his own arm around her pleasantly curved waist. "So... I-I guess we should go check this place out," he said, grinning sheepishly.
-
Danny thought a bit on the fastest way to get to the house, running through what she knew of the city in her head. If she planned it right, they'd go right past the grocery and the library. She stretched and got to her feet. "Get ready to go. I want to get groceries later, and they close at dark."
-
((By the way, probably should have mentioned that 23rd liberty avenue is a small family carpentry shop... Not all that well known throughout town but does steady business constructing and renovating furniture))
Katka glanced across at Nestor and shot him a smirk, drawing herself in close, thick hips brushing close to him as she teased her tail over the back of his legs. She watched him with a sly grin and the barest suggestion of a daring wink in her blue eyes, her breath slow with every rise and fall of her chest.
When Danny finally got to her feet Katka glanced across quickly, her brief moment of confidence and flirtatiousness gone to be replaced by an embarrassed blush and shake of her head. She nodded to Danny with a muttered "Okay" then, as though realizing sheepishly what she had been doing, she pulled away slightly from him and moved her arm up from his waist to grip his shoulder for support instead. "I should be able to walk most the way without too much help... I would say that I could walk without support, but I don't dare risk injuring my ankle further..."
-
Nestor smiled at Katka, still blushing deeply. "It's okay," he said. "I don't mind at all."
-
Okay, Im off for the week... Posting will be limited but I will hopefully be checking the forums about once a day using mobile internet though so I may be able to post sometimes :)
-
elizabeth grimaced at something. then smiled. "thanks danny that would be wonderful. i honestly have no idea where that adress is and ive lived in this place all of my live." She got up and glanced around. it was indeed getting near dark. she was hungry as well. " I' will be back soon. if you dont mind i need go arange some things with others. i have a phone call to make. people dont like it when i go off the grid without a message." she ducked out and briskly walked a bit to a small family store. she smiled to the shop keeper and went straight to the telephone.

-
Katka watched Elizabeth leave with a curious flick of her tail, glancing across to Nestor with a raised eyebrow as she thought to herself. Really I would like to know more about who this Elizabeth is. She knew my father, or so she says, and she is an unusual character who seems to be hiding a lot. Maybe she knows more than she gives out... She sighed and leaned close to Nestor, staring pensively out of the window as she waited for Danny's call to be off.
-
Nestor blushed and glanced over at her, then followed her gaze out the window. "It really is beautiful, huh?"
-
Danny quickly grabbed a large backpack from a corner, metal things clinking inside. "I have the money and directions already. We should go as soon as Elizabeth gets back."
-
Katka looked across the serried rows of rooftops, smoke rising from chimneys as the rain pattered down in a light grey shower. The dark thunder clouds had rolled over, and every now and then the occasional shaft of weak evening sunlight glistened off the rainwater everywhere. She smiled and glanced up to Nestor. "Yeah, it is kind of beautiful..."
As Danny grabbed her bag and turned to them Katka frowned, glancing from her to the door that Elizabeth had just left through. With a flick of her tail she watched Danny closely. "You and Elizabeth seem to get on well together... Friend of yours?"
-
Danny slung the bag over her shoulder. "Hardly. First I've seen of any of you. I haven't been here long enough to meet anyone really. You and Nestor dating before you 'time traveled'?"
-
Nestor widened his eyes, blushing deeply. "He he..." he said, trying to hide his face a bit.
-
Katka blushed, but shrugged as nonchalantly as she could manage. "Dating has never been my strong point..." She glanced sheepishly across to Nestor and smirked. "Anyway I'm the same as with you, first time I've met any of you." With a flick of her tail she glanced back to Danny and got ready to follow her out of the door. "So how long have you been here?"
(Ok, I'm off for the airport. I guess if people are still interested in this RP it can kind of go on haitus... If people do still want it to continue I will post whenever I get the chance while in Slovakia :) And I apologize for baring with me and the long absence, it makes keeping up RPs difficult to say the least :/ )
-
(Have a nice trip. I'm not on as much in the summer, so my posts slow down.)
Danny hesitated, thinking carefully on her words. "Some time. I'm not entirely sure to be honest."
-
Nestor grinned sheepishly back at KKatka, then looked over at Danny. "Well... what's your oldest memory of here?"
-
(Well this RP was always a bit slow in terms of posting, and so long as everyone is still interested I really dont mind if people are busy or not online much :) )
Katka raised an eyebrow and shrugged "Huh... Well youve obviously been here longer than us, though that really isnt much to say..." She glanced across to Nestor as he posed his question. After a moment she looked back to Danny curiously, noting in the back of her mind how she had slowed down to pick her words. As the conversation continued Katka reached a hand up to touch the breast pocket of her jacket, feeling the photograph of her father tucked away inside.
-
(True. Sad thing is, I used to be as fast as Cif when I was thirteen. XD )
Danny thought carefully on that. It wasn't that there were many memories, but they blurred so heavily to a point it was hard to pick them apart. "Three days ago. I woke up in an old building a few blocks from here. I can't remember anything before that. The only reason I know my name is a paper I found. Nothing else helpful though."
-
(Even sadder, I'm three years older than that.)
Nestor nodded. "Alright... do you recall anything beforehand?" he asked.
-
(I remember joining the forums at 15 and having so much time for posting, now between college work and such I barely find the time... Darn you Aldrea for making me feel old XP )
Katka nodded along with Nestor and sighed slightly. No longer frowning, she seemed to look at Danny in a different way from before, actually giving a weak smile. "All along here I thought that you were being hypocritcal, saying you didn't believe in the whole 'time travel' ordeal when I thought you had been through the same... So you were born in this time then, I guess?"
She folded her arms and waited for the answer to Cifero's question, muttering quietly to herself. "Stranger and stranger... None of these events make sense. We need information from other people, like Elizabeth and perhaps the people who live at this address, if they knew my father... Or think they did."
-
(Haha. Trust me, you aren't the only one feeling old. Posting on WarriorsCats feels like so long ago...)
Danny paused, a bit irritated, even if she wasn't entirely sure why. She hadn't found anything on her being born there -Not that her clothing choice helped- nor anything to help figure out if she was from elsewhere. Just... nothing. She was beginning to wonder if she existed at all before...
"We should get going. It'll take a bit to get there," she said, avoiding the question.
-
(o_o Warrior Cats?)
Nestor nodded, pulling Katka a bit closer to him. "Yeah... good idea," he said. He smiled at Katka, blushing. "Ready to go?"
-
(Dont think I was ever a part of that. Although the name seems distinctly familar... And awesome :P )
Katka watched Danny closely, as she seemed to be thinking something through with her brow furrowed in concentration. When she finally spoke Katka blinked at the indirect response, tail flicking as she nodded as well. "Sure, you lead the way I guess..." She glanced up to Nestor as she felt him pull her closer, his arm around her waist as her hips and waist pressed close to him. Smirking, she gingerly let her weight onto her ankle, glad to not feel any stab of pain as she did so and nodded. "Yeah, Im ready to go..."
-
Nestor blushed and smiled at Katka. "Then let's go find a photographer."
-
(i am honestly a bit lost :( )
-
(What with not being on much recently I am also a little lost :S However, as far as I can explain... Katka found a photograph of her father, who supposedly died in 2005, in the hotel room with an address which is in the neighbourhood handwritten on the back. The photo was taken in the present, and so we are now going to the address on the back of the photo to try and find out how the photograph, and the rest of us, came to be in this time... or something incredibly convoluted like that :P I will be back home in a few days with access to my computer again finally)
-
(That's great. Have a good trip back home.)
-
*Hugs everyone.* Have nice trip Katka. I'll (Finally!) get to posting. :P
Also, yep. It was a Wetpaint RP I played and modded a bit ago. Fun site.
Kaya, we're about to leave to find Katka's family.)
Danny walkeed out of the room, a misty breeze picking up around them. It really wasn't bad where they were, that was for sure.
-
Nestor looked over at Katka. "Ready to go?" he asked, blushing a bit.
-
(sorry I havent posted in ages... A little while ago I got my exam results, and turns out I got good enough grades to get into the University I wanted to! The last few weeks have been crazy, getting ready to move out for Uni... As you can probably guess, exciting times and as such I havent been on here much :P )
Katka glanced across to Nestor and nodded, mumbling "Sure, I'm ready..." With that she followed out behind Danny, shivering slightly at the breeze and zipping up her jacket, grinning across at Nestor again as she shoved her hands deep into her pockets and followed Danny.
The evening was quiet, with the crisp cold air that came after a heavy downpour. Everywhere puddles glistened between cobblestones and the mist curled in wisps around the ankles of the few pedestrians that ventured outside. Leaving the apartment block the group turned out onto a main road that would lead to Liberty Avenue.
Among the few pedestrians on the road, a pair of grey-furred wolves in trenchcoats watched them closely. One flicked away the butt of a cigarette and they set off at a slow pace behind them.
-
Nestor smiled at Katka as they walked along. A bit later, he walked a bit closer to her and whispered from the side of his mouth. "We're being followed," he said. "Two wolves in trenchcoats. Don't turn around, ok?"
-
(I know that feeling Katka. Good luck. :) I'll be on a bit more now that school's in, so hopefully I won't keep disappearing.)
Danny hummed softly to herself, enjoying the cool air. She unbuttoned her coat, the long tails rustling softly in the wind. "So, How much do you know about machines?"
-
Nestor glanced at Danny. "It depends... what kind of machine?" he asked.
-
Katka smiled sheepishly back at Nestor, the grin quickly turning to a frown as he whispered out of the corner of his mouth. Almost instinctively she glanced over her shoulder, quickly turning back a split second later and muttered. "You sure?" The glance had netted her a brief view of two wolves, one burly and thick-set and the other lithe. Both had stopped on a street corner, talking as the shorter of the two lit another cigarette, then turned off into a side street.
With a start Katka realized a question had been asked, glancing up at Danny with a grin her tail flicked excitedly. "Oh sure, loads! I live and breath machinery." For once she talked in a way that was neither shy nor a sheepish mumble, instead she spoke animatedly of how she had learned the trades of a mechanic from a young age with the help of O'Reilly, an almost smug air as she described how she had renovated and repaired his old Morris Minor at the age of fifteen. Splashing through the occasional puddle as she paced alongside Danny, the two grey-coated wolves seemed forgotten already.
-
Nestor took out a pair of sunglasses and slipped them on. "Katka," he whispered. "They're still following us... I can see it in the mirrors on the sides of these glasses. Just keep talking, ok?" He gave her a sheepish smile, still observing the wolves.
-
Danny smiled. "That's good. I was wondering if you could help me with something. I need help assembling a small gadget I found, and I'm still a bit out of practice." She pushed her bag a bit higher on her shoulders, metal jingling inside.
-
Katka glanced across at Nestor with a perplexed look as he put on the sunglasses, resisting the urge to look over her shoulder again, she nodded to Danny and grinned. "Sure, I can take a look at it." She glanced back at Nestor again with a quizzical look as they walked, the sound of the two wolves' footsteps following close behind them.
The trio soon reached Liberty Avenue itself, colorfully painted shopfronts lining each side of the street. A single glossy black Ford automobile stood empty, parked in front of a greengrocers halfway down, but otherwise the street was empty. Behind them their alleged followers turned right into one of the smaller sidestreets and the pair of wolves disappeared from Nestor's hidden view.
It took a moment or two for Katka to guess the shop they were looking for. Pulling the photo out of her pocket she showed the name written across its back to Nestor, then nodded to a faded sign that swung over the doorway of the shop beside the greengrocer 'J.C Dowling & Co. Furniture and Carpenters'. She glanced across at him and put the photo away again as she muttered. "I guess that's it then... Now all we need to do is find Mr J.C Dowling."
-
Nestor nodded. "And our two friends are gone as well", he whispered to Katka. Suddenly he wrapped his arm around her waist, blushing. "Well... let's find him, then."
