I wonder how you see yourselves or your fursona(s) or character(s). While it's understandable that some people sometimes see them(selves) as feral (animal-like) and sometimes as anthropomorphic (human-like) and often switch from one to another, not to mention switching whole fursonas, I'm curious what's the preferred perceived shape. I hope I'm not overcomplicating this :$ Please add species if not the same as your profile says.
For me it's like this:
Sne (me :P): feral
Lumi (white tigress, RP character): anthro
Chernokryl (red-winged blackbird, fursona): feral
-
No preference (https://d.facdn.net/art/hawaiianrain/1314412530.hawaiianrain_dracosketchdumpcommission.png)
-
Kyratzes, my main fursona, is usually anthro, although he's ocasionally feral.
Kreo(Stag, fursona): is always feral.
Porcius(wolf, RP/game character): always Anthro
Those are all my most commonly used fursona and characters.
-
For me, all of my characters or fursonas are based on me in some way... I have...
Kioh (Feral wolf, also the name nearly everyone calls me, including my girlfriend) who's like the sensitive, loving and caring part of me.
Felix (Anthro coyote, the only place I use her is on FF so far!) Distant, apathetic.
Aatu (Anthro, no specific species) Happy, silly, fun, pervy and totally unpredictable.
(Edited this like 5 times now haha, I keep noticing little mistakes.)
-
Well, two of mine are based off of the Redwall series, meaning feral, but still having the ability to somehow wield bows and swords, and can speak.
Tammo (Squirrel/my current avi) - Feral
Reamus (Otter) - Feral
Gorm (Albino Dragon) - Feral
Deirx (Arctic Fox) - Anthro or Feral
Leiton & Mawz (Black Wolves) - Anthro
-
It's easy, just look at the info under my avatar image.
-
My fursona is normally in feral form, but I, personally, prefer anthro. Weird, eh? xD;
-
My fursona is feral, but my other characters are anthros.
I prefer feral for my fursona because I just like an animal's form over a human's. It seems more balanced and sturdy. I also think it would be awesome to be able to run on four paws.
My other characters are anthro because it makes them feel more "human" as I develop the stories and backgrounds for them. I like to be able to relate to them and have other people relate to them as well. To have them just be talking animals doesn't inspire me in quite the same way.
-
Anthro all the way
-
Only one fursona/character, and it's anthro, which is what I would prefer.
-
I'm feral and that's what I prefer :3
...However I do have the ability to freely transform between feral and anthro, but as I prefer myself feral, that's the way you'll see me 99% of the time XD
-
So for all the ferals that have replied - how do you solve things like having opposing thumbs and other things a feral body wouldn't be able to do?
-
So for all the ferals that have replied - how do you solve things like having opposing thumbs and other things a feral body wouldn't be able to do?
My fursona, in her (imaginary) world, lives as an animal would in the wild. She doesn't need them.
Whenever I want to draw her doing something with her hands, I do use an anthro form of her. I just prefer the feral one.

<is feral. I use my jaw; but as I am a cub, I don't need it very often; thus I just use it to do stuff like flash people in the face by nomming a camera. XP
-
I only have one: warren spencer, and he's anthro all the way :P
-

Why would you solve things that are not a problem for you?
Also, silly question, silly answer: robotic exoskeletons, telekinesis or a human owner ^.^

I do about the same as well, I don't need thumbs most of the time and when I do, I have my Anthro form :3
-
my fursona can do both while in Werebeast. <_< Hard explain why she can do both
-
All anthro, all the time, baby.
-
My only fursona is anthro despite my current avatar. :)
-
My character can do both there.
-
I really have to say it is indeed dependent on which scalesona I'm using. Even then, it can be a really tough choice.
Sytex Xiuhcoatl (Thickly muscled, Western Build, White and Blue Dragon): Feral
Renu Nero Blake (Lean and nimble, deadly jawed Black and Red Epanterian Tyrannotitan): Anthro
Tiberius Nicholas Sintari (Semi average leans toward muscular, blue flamed, Black and Blue Shiny Charizard): Anthro
-
Well my theriotype is Feral but my fursona is Anthro. If that helps any ^_^
-
ok, well my main three furry/scalie forms are max, marco and durako.
max: anthro lizard with no feral form (me normally)
marco: anthro white fox able to change into both a 'combat' and 'cute' feral form, and can be found in either anthro or 'cute' forms most of the time (the good and seriousness in me)
durako: anthro dragon who only is in feral form in times of extreme rage (the reason i'm going to hell......)
-
I definitely see my fursona as an Anthro. He's just like me but foxy furry version XD
-
Anthro all day, all the way XD
-
Anthro is preferred.
but I have been drawn as a feral before...but only for cartoony stuff/cute stuff, otherwise it's Anthro.
Not too big of a fan of feral.
-
Actually my fur soma is anthro. The wolf you see as my profile pic is my spirit wolf. :)
-
one and hes anthro his names deadraconis
-
Anthro. Obligatory sentence to make the post more than one word in length.
Please do not avoid the two-word filter by filling a post with meaningless content. There's a reason the filter is in place.

My fursona is anthro mostly, but I imagine her being able to live feral when she chooses as well.
I'm an equal opportunity furry. ;)
-
My fursona is Anthro, but who knows what may happen in the future.
-
my fursona is a mainly anthro but like play and run as feral.
-
Anthro but I do run and play as feral sometimes =^.^=
-
Me personally I prefer Feral over Anthro anyday.
For art I will occasionally be Anthro.
:3
-
My fursona is anthro but can be feral (but he'd have to be melted and then put into a feral fox mould :P).
-
Anthro most of the time, but it's fun to play around or be mischievous in feral form.
I also like curling up to sleep in feral form, preferably in someone's lap. ^_^
-
I see myself as an anthro. While my persona is an animal I like to focus more on the human characteristics emotions, daily life, etc.
-
Im anthro for 100% feral makes me feel to useless. I dont see a feral playing guitar and drinking beer and doing sports. :P
-
Don't have a drawing of him yet but he's looks like the one in the picture as an anthro that wears glasses a orange polo and blue jeans
-
I'm the same as JoJoJoshua, mine is anthro but it is so fun to play around as a feral. :D
-
I like both but usually in antho
-
I've never tried feral tbh :P
-
While I definitely see the appeal of Feral, I prefer Anthro for the overall "human" feel it provides.
-
Anthro. I see my fursona as a conduit of expression for or an actual expression of repressed thoughts feelings and actions. Those things are very much human. A feral would not be able to carry them out.
-
Anthro. Never been too into feral
-
But... why?
I love anthro and feral equally ^_^
I just choose to be a feral squirrel, but then the only real difference between feral squirrel and anthro squirrel would be size... ^_^
-
Because I like my thumbs, that's why.
Of course currently my fursona is an idealogical pattern.
-
I suppose you could call my langurhali anthro. They ARE supposed to be human + feline + X. There's no feral version.
-
Both of my fursona's are anthro.
Most of my characters are anthro, but there is one who switches between feral and anthro and that is Bones my wolgryphicorn. (Wolf/Gryphon/Unicorn+???=Profit)
I will be drawing him in anthro form later tonight probably. I've been meaning to.
My sergal characters are kind of a strange mix, as they can stand on two feet, but also can run on all four legs.
-
My Sona is mainly Anthro, but I don't mind either
Vance Ottrin (My sona) is anthro
Many RP characters and story characters: Anthro but can be feral when they choose, (Some choose feral much of the time)
-
both....i change to suit my mood
-
Both but mainly anthro
-
i prefer anthro because its more versitile. to me feral feels more helpless or inconvienient at times. :)
-
Anthro here, only one fursona (fox).
-
Honestly, I don't have a personal preference (Although my fursona zaphier the jackal is anthro, it also has a feral version :3)
Peace out,
Zaphier the Jackal <3 <3
-
I love anthro and feral, but I like feral more so. It depends on the character. I prefer my 'Sona, Zae, feral, especially when rping. But my unnamed roo character I prefer anthro. Zae is able to switch between forms, but the reason I prefer rping as a feral more so is because as an anthro, rping seems to much like I currently am... a human. Rping as a feral dragoness I find more interesting because as a feral creature, I can act and behave much more differently than an anthro or human would.
