Was there ever a time in your life when you thought the whole world was going crazy and you lost hope for humanity. If you ever felt this way than talk about it here. I'll start with mine. For some reason halloween has become a sexual holiday. I mean seriously? I went into one of those halloween shops and I thought I just walked into a sex shop. My sister wanted to be a cat. However there were no cat costumes that didnt make you look like a tramp. They even said in the newspaper "Women look like prostitutes on halloween". Since when did this become a sexual holiday. I never thought of it that way. This is one of the many ways society has fallen apart. That was mine. What are your frustrations with society and how the human race has become so stupid.

Some people tend to make things totally crude when they were just happy things. It seems as if our aging population is getting the better of us =/
However, I often almost lose faith in humanity when people of great power and authority undermine science and people who are mean and greedy often get to the top of the corporate or political ladder. However, when I personally start losing faith in humanity, I look up symphony of Science, some really inspiring videos, that show me that there is still hope!.

I...this stuff means so much to me. Tomorrow, the day after, our children, our grandchildren, I may not be able to see everything in my imagination today, but, they will. I want to be part of the cause of that.
That's why I try and ignore that thought of the world gone to hell. Yes, it is currently, but I hold a hope, a gleam in a sea of despair, a dream, one little speck of hope.
That speck of hope, it's smaller than the likelihood of the human race existing in the first place.
but it's enough:
Neil deGrasse Tyson - We Stopped Dreaming (Episode 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbIZU8cQWXc#ws)
We've done so much, too much to stop now. I will never give up hope.

Sometimes I feel like the whole world is becoming a red light district. There is so much sex in society now a days. I mean you should be able to trick or treat without looking like a prostitute. Also I never thought society would actually make a show for pedophiles, However they did. Its called "toddlers and tiaras".

Lozar, I think you're hung up on sexuality a bit, and your analysis is insufficiently nuanced. It isn't as simple as "too much sex = bad," as we have to say why exactly sexualization is a problem, and in what contexts. Incidentally I think greater sexualization and sexual liberation is ceteris paribus a good thing, but that specific phenomena, such as the sexualization of children (which you bring up) are problematic. On the topic of the sexualization of children, I think capitalism is to blame. If sexuality can be sold as a commodity (whether an abstract "commodity" or a physical item), and we live in a commodity economy where everyone has to participate, as many fundamental social relations take the form of relations between commodities produced by human labor, put two and two together and the sexualization of children is an unfortunate but predictable outcome.
Anyways, I think a lot of our problems are the products of capitalism insofar as 1. it creates externalities and 2. commodity fetishism (the above phenomenon I described where complex social relations become indirect via commodities sold on a market) forces an "everyone for themselves" mentality to develop, which creates massive social coordination problems. Some of the worst things we are confronting, like climate change, global water shortage, etc., are actually both market externalities and social coordination problems. Broadly speaking, I think we need to create a society where the working class (defined as people who do not own society's means of production, i.e. those who have nothing to sell but their own labor, which they must sell to survive in the market economy) seizes control of the global means of production ("means of production" broadly defined, including factories, energy infrastructure, natural resources, etc).

Yes I agree. Capitalism is the fairest form of unfairness. I am not a communist or a socialist. But I do see a lot of problems with capitalism. I think its the corporation and banks. Theyre the reason capitalism is so unfair. If the corporations and banks werent so powerful capitalsim would be fair. And then theres the stupidity of the consumer. The consumer will believe anything in an advertizment. Thats why society has sexualized so quickly. And why does physical apperance define a person. If a nice, intelegent person is ugly they don't matter. However if an attractive, sexy person is dumb and arrogant than that is perfectly OK. I don't understand a lot of things about modern society. I wish I could visit other time periods, like the middle ages.

i can not think of a more fitting video...
A MESSAGE FOR ALL OF HUMANITY ~ Charlie Chaplin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsgaFKwUA6g#ws)
watch it

I actually prefer this version, I think the music is much more fitting.
The Greatest Speech Ever Made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WibmcsEGLKo#ws)
sorry, not trying to one up you xD I just love the music more in that^^ one :P

funnily enough, that's the one i was trying to find :)

Just... everything. Political leaders abusing their power to oppress the people. Things like racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bullying, etc. The great emphasis on social status and appearance and material wealth. It's like all civilization's going to hell. :'(
It's just too much for me to handle.
-
i would just like to have an island away from all them and live there.. XD
-
We ought to do something. So that future generations can have better lives. But I don't know what to do.
:/
(Sorry for turning this into some idiotic sob story)

list of things that could be done:
1. stop Capitalism
2. find new energy source
3. ensure global peace
4. plant trees wherever possible
5. find replacement for paper
6. find a way to replace non-renewable resources
7. do not be held by materialism
8. start a new country and let everyone else catch on
rumor mill: did you know that apparently europe is stopping capitalism and coming up with a new system?
-
nope that is new to me.

rumor mill: did you know that apparently europe is stopping capitalism and coming up with a new system?
=O That's news to me.
And Mr.Razot; those are good ideas, some of which I've thought of and thanks for sharing them but the problem is that I have no idea how to carry them out. Even if it's just a minor contribution. Maybe I should have explained myself better. :)
-
i understand that
you could however try 2 and 4-7
-
Yeah, 4-7 seem pretty doable. Thanks! *Hugs Mr. Razot* ^_^

I am not a communist or a socialist.
I am. Proud member of the revolutionary Marxist left here.

Well communism, capitalism, and socialism all have problems, and neither of them are fair. However capitalism is the most fair of them all. Capitalism is fair in on itself until people abuse it and make it unfair. The corporation makes women into sexual pieces of meat until they kill themselves because they can't reach the standards of beauty set by society. And banks take advantage of people by throwing them into debt and making people pay for stupid crap. Like insurance. Insurance is so stupid. It costs way less to pay for the crash out of pocket. But of course they don't want you to know that.

That and the following video really moved me, I have always asked myself why there is such pain in the world, and sometimes I can almost feel it. The Sun's weight of pain on my shoulders, making my heart ache. I do what I can, which is more than some do. I am after all only human, we judge, we hate, we suffer. But we also are compassionate, loving, supportive, and genuinely care about each other. If we could only take away the "us vs. them" idea things would noticably change.
The world is a dark place, but dark cannot exist without light. I just hope that one day we learn how to turn on more lights. ^_^
-
I would love to live on another planet with a few hundred other people to restart humanity and prevent what we screwed up from ever happening again, no more hate, no more corruption, heck people can open about what they without fear of judgment ,
-
have hope for humanity... and be awesome about it
-
I think that even if we did make a new society, we would have the same problem eventually. It's what makes us human. Unfortnately being human isnt always the best...
lmao -afterthought, "that's what makes us anthro"
-
lol I wish I was my fursona, like what if everyone who was a furry all of a sudden woke up as their fursona lol then I would say "not my problom im not human im anthro XP"
-
that would be awsome!~
-
like what if everyone who was a furry all of a sudden woke up as their fursona lol
I would be confused, horrified, and mourn the loss of my social life and acceptance into normal society.
-
what if everyone who was a furry all of a sudden woke up as their fursona lol
I would probably wake up as normal, notice that I'm furry, check a mirror, head downstairs warning my mum not to scream :P
(on topic)
There is is every reason to have hope in humanity, it's just that the vast majority of people can't be bothered to do anything.
Perhaps if we did something, rather than complain, then we can complain.
So I'm complaining about complaining :P
