so would you guys say the raven is the grim reaper of the animal world? or would that designation fall on some other animal?
Also i was wondering just for fun if we could link up animals with the major historical religious figures? like say jesus in my opppinion would be an anthro lion and krishna would be an anthro cow. but where would this leave buddha or lao tzu or others that i cant hink of?

Well that can vary as in different cultrue have for different meanings, but as i know of probably best for it would be darkness

Depends.
In Egyptian culture, Anubis (sometimes half-jackal, half-human; but also portrayed as fully a jackal) is the god associated with mummification and the afterlife. He protects people on their journey to the afterlife. It makes him somewhat like the Grim Reaper.
Ravens are kind of fitting since they have long been thought of as symbols of ill omen and death. They have also been viewed as Trickster and Creator gods too though.
Maybe Buddha would be a panda.
Not sure about other religious significances of animals...

Well on the panda buddha thing i have to disagree with you. cause well pandas arnt native to india where the buddha was born. Mabye a panda could represent bodhidharma the founder accourding to legend of zen or in chinese chan buddhism.
