Title: Studio Ghibli (hayao miyazaki)

I know we got some other fans of studio ghibli in here. Whats your favorite movie of the greatest animator ever?!

Mine's Howl's moving castle. I found it once one sunday while channel surfing and instantly fell in love with it. the castle, the story behind Howl, *gush*

I like Pom Poko, its one of his lesser known ones.
There are tanuiks (Raccoon Dogs) that are fighting against the humans that are destroying their forest.

That sort of thing seems to be a reoccurring theme in his stories, I think that's why I like so much of his stuff.

never saw that one. Only ones I saw were Kiki's delivery service, Ponyo, and bits of castle in the sky.

I agree Macid! Howl's Moving Castle is amazing! The animation is just gorgeous and the characters are so endearing! The actual story (and the ending) nag at the back of my head, but the sheer beauty in the movie is just...amazing!

I've also seen Spirited Away, but that film actually had me uneasy as a kid and sort of still does


When the parents turned into pigs I knew this was going to be really weird for me  XD

That's the kind of whimsical nature that I enjoy his films for though, anything goes. :P
Is there a list of his movies somewhere? I'd just like to go down the list and watch em all! :P

These are Hayao Miyazaki's films associated with Studio Ghibli.  (Nasuicaa is not /technically/ a Studio Ghibli film, as it was produced before the founding of the Ghibli company in 1985, but by critics and fans alike it is grouped with the other Ghibli films.)
Miyazaki ALSO has a few films and series from before Stuido Ghibli was founded!  These are those:
What people don't often know (in my experience) is that not every movie put out by Studio Ghibli is a work by Hayao Miyazaki.  Here are the other Studio Ghibli feature-length films and the years/directors that ACTUALLY worked on them. ^.^

Now, this is just all the directors.  *laughs*  Some of the films have had work done on them by other big names in the company other than just the name given the director.  For instance, the new "Secret World of Arietty" movie directed by Yonebayashi is more commonly associated with Miyazaki.  Miyazaki actually wrote the SCREENPLAY for this film, along with Keiko Niwa.

As for the films I've SEEN so far, I've seen Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, Totoro, Kiki's, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and My Neighbors the Yamadas.  I'm actually planning on watching Tales from Earthsea this weekend.  (Poor Goro gets a lot of guff for his work because his father, Hayao Miyazaki, actually /walked out/ of the premiere showing of his film, calling it "uninspired."  Yeah, Hayao Miyazaki isn't all fluff and bunnies...)

Princess Mononoke, after watching that, I became obsessed with Feudal Japan and wolves.
