so in short i beat arkham city and am.. was, drooling over my favorite Batman Badguy, The Riddler, whom i was dissapointed to see isn't in the next movie (bane? catwoman? do we have any badguys with sustanence? or uh, at least a high popularity raiting???)
anyway rant aside, i love the riddler, so here i will post some riddles, i will try to make MOST of them original, of course if i'm, lets say sick, busy, or just being lazy, i might take riddles already made, in any case, try not to cheat, this is a test of your wits, your skill, your sharpness,
googling the answer so that you "look" smart dosen't make you smart :/
So an original one to start you off with,
???" i am something nobody ever wants, until they have something else first, but nobody can ever have, without having that something else first, and yet that something else is something most do want. What am i?"???
now i may head for bed so ill check on this tomorrow some time
-
I love this idea. I'll be working on the riddle, although chance are someone will get it before me.
-
thought about it for a while and Im going to guess that is a nightmare/dream.
I will continue to think about it though for a better answer.
-
Is it a divorce?

-

-
??? found in a mine, I apologize for skipping a word, but judging by my atrocious spelling back there [removed]. And you're waaaay off???
-

-
An "A", perhaps?
-

takes off his glasses, cleans them, stares for a moment
???lllove? how that came out of this would be a riddle i might need to solve. Here is something i don't like to give, clues, take the riddle, quite literal.
I come from a mine, am packadged in a wooden "box" never to be released, yet almost everyone uses it, some everyday.
hey, i even gave you a second clue, but i wont tell you where that is... good luck???
(make sure you are on the current riddle, don't be answering the very first post anymore, that answer was given)

[removed]

-
*loves riddles and is pretty good at them*
Thanks ^-^ and I did it the legit way, finally woke my brain up xD
took me a while though.
-
Actually, it was a RickRolling video.
Sloth, perhaps? Tiredness?
-
nope, but not far away on tiredness, it's not a good feeling..
-
Q: ???No man has seen it, but all men know it. lighter than air sharper than anny sword. comes from nothing, but will fell the strongest armies.???
(sorry, grabbed it from the nearest source)
The answer is hunger, for all armies march upon their stomachs.
Is this thread open to all to pose a riddle or three or what?
-
feel free to post riddles ^_^ i wanna answer too^^
-
Ah, but was I right about hunger? I think I am, but one can never be absolutely sure when the author of the riddle is a tricky fox. ( ;) )
Here is one of my favorites.
"It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It hides behind stars and under hills, and empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after. Ends life. Kills laughter."
What is the answer?
-
"It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It hides behind stars and under hills, and empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after. Ends life. Kills laughter."
What is the answer?
Carbon Monoxide? o.o
Here's one of mine that gets people a lot >3>
"What can go up a chimney down, but not down a chimney up?"
-

"It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It hides behind stars and under hills, and empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after. Ends life. Kills laughter."
What is the answer?
hehe yea, the answer is hunger, and your answer to your riddle is darkness, but darkness doesn't exist, its the mere absence of light ^_^ :P
-
feh , older riddles are more fun. Especially the ones that rhyme.
Also correct. The answer is darkness. Here's an animal based one...
"What animal is always ready to travel?"
-
can it be the turtle? since it has it's house on the back... :P
-
Not even close, but good guess. Think much larger.
X3
-
elephant :?
-
Correct, an elephant's trunk is always packed and ready for travel. XP
-
XD , then I need to ask a nasty question if you don't mind, but I will not use it the messy way... ???how many meters is the bluewhale's equipment? [I hope this is not too nasty...]
-
Scientific answer: ~2m (don't know the metric conversion)
This is probably wrong though
-
um...wait a bit, I can change it to.... yards... you familiar with that?
-
A yard is about .9 of a meter. They're pretty much the same.
-
yea, but I can just give the answer in meters then, or do you know it, 2 meters is wrong not even close...
-
A blue whale's "equipment" you say... hmmm :S Let's see.
You say I'm not even close... hummm :S
Let's be silly once more... Is it "Long enough"?
-
I would say TOO long... like I definetly cant take it on a bus trip....
-
I'm going to try tomorrow while sitting in lab to figure this out, but can I have a hint?
-
hmm... I can say that it's not shorter than 20 meters, but cant say anything else... then I will spoil it...
-
Sorry, its been a very busy
??? This one is almost too easy, i am short but large, loud yet soft, what I may lack in intelligence I make up in pride.????
-
Merged the two riddle threads. Now Riddle Me This and Riddles are one thread.
-
hm, so there will be one tread for riddles then... and everyone can answer and post riddles... nice
-
hmm... I can say that it's not shorter than 20 meters, but cant say anything else... then I will spoil it...
In response to the above, I give up Roxy. Never been very good at the abstract ones, so please enlighten me.
-
it's only 25 meters... just a bit longer than a bus I think...
-
Sorry, its been a very busy
??? This one is almost too easy, i am short but large, loud yet soft, what I may lack in intelligence I make up in pride.????
Been puzzling over this one and I must say that my riddling skills must have flown away.
I'm stumped. :$
Help a poor guy out?
-

???Everything is meant quite literal except the very last word????
-
Gut reaction? => Lion
-
Gut reaction? => Lion
??? Your gut has paid off! be on the look out for my next riddle???
-
Excellent! Looks like my gut paid off.
Here is another one that always makes me smile.
"What is always rushing towards us, yet never arrives. It constantly comes closer, yet never shows its face."
-
is time the answer you seek?
-
Close, but no cigar WhiteWolf.
As the devil is in the details, try to narrow your answer.
-
the future.
-
True. Points for you WhiteWolf (Also, great Christmas themed Avatar).
Since that took nearly no time, here's two to set your brains on. The first will be number 1, the second number 2.
1) I am always hungry and will die if not fed constantly. To some I am a luxury, to others a danger. Don't come to close, for all that I touch I consume. What am I?
[And because I absolutely adore these older ones...]
2) This thing, all things devours. Birds, beasts, trees, flowers. Gnaws iron, bites steel, grinds stones to meal, slays King, ruins town, and brings tall mountains down. What is it?
-
1- fire
2-time
-
Huh... yeah. You're just too good WhiteWolf (or I'm just terrible at posing difficult riddles o.O ).
Both are correct.
Anyone else have a good one?
-
you may know this one it is famous
What has roots as nobody sees, Is taller than trees, Up, up it goes. And yet never grows?
-
mountain :D

I am..
The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place
What am i?
Post Merge: November 25, 2011, 03:02:45 AM
This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!
Why so unusual???
-
new silly riddle!!!!
what do the snail say when it is on top of the turtles shell?
-
to answer Roxy Wolf...
The snail says WEEEEEEEE!!!!! (as the turtle is fast to the snail).
To reply to JC_Shepherd...
The beginning of eternity and the end of time and space is the letter "E".
The paragraph is unusual because it lacks the letter "E", a common letter in the English language.
--- ---- ---
I love these old ones, but they always seem to be guessed very quickly. Ah well, here's another pair of them...
"Thirty white horses on a red hill. First they champ, then they stamp, and then they stay still. What are they?"
"A box without hinges, key, or lid, yet inside Golden Treasure is hid. What is it?"
B)
-
the box is an egg. the yolk inside is the gold treasure. the horses are the graves of soldiers?
-
You are right about the egg. The egg is a box without hinges and hides a golden treasure.
About the horses though, Macid, you aren't even close. Nice try though! :P
Here's the riddle again so people don't have to go back a page and see it.
"Thirty white horses on a red hill. First they champ, then they stamp, and then they stay still. What are they?"
-
Otebon12
the answer is teeth
An old man wanted to leave all of his money to one of his three sons, but he didn't know which one he should give it to. He gave each of them a few coins and told them to buy something that would be able to fill their living room. The first man bought straw, but there was not enough to fill the room. The second bought some sticks, but they still did not fill the room. The third man bought two things that filled the room, so he obtained his father's fortune. What were the two things that the man bought?
-
ya you was right on mine... XP I haven't really any more riddles up now.... so I will post when I find some^^
-
To answer JC Shepherd...
The man brought a candle and a match. He lit the candle and the light filled the room.
Here is a riddle that is short, but sweet.
"I turn plants green and people brown. What am I?"
This one should be fairly easy...
-
Otebon12: a tomato??
-
Not even close there JC. XD
-
not tomato huh....
well then i see now i will have to use the answer to every question in the universe
six :D
-
Still not close there JC.
Isn't the answer to life, the Universe, and everything 42?
-
oh well i suck at the simple riddles but ussually do better at the harder ones
Post Merge: November 27, 2011, 05:37:37 PM
i feel like an idiot for not getting this riddle.......WARNING ANSWER IS AT THE END!!!
Q:What happens when you throw a yellow rock into a purple stream...........................................A: it makes a splash
-

Here is a riddle that is short, but sweet.
"I turn plants green and people brown. What am I?"

Is it the sun?
-
Congrats Karnage, it is the sun!
Now try your wits on this...
"What does man love more than life,
Fear more than death or mortal strife?
What the poor have, the rich require,
and what contented men desire?
What the miser spends and the spendthrift saves,
and all men carry to their graves?"
-
"What does man love more than life,

Nothing?

There once was an evil wizard. He took 3 woman from their homes and turned them into rose bushes that looked exactly alike. He put them in his garden. One of the woman had a husband and children and begged the wizard to let her see them. He agreed. At night, he brought the woman to her house. In the morning he came and took her home. One day the husband decided to go rescue her. So he snuck into the wizard's garden. He looked and looked at the 3 identical rose bushes trying to figure out which could be his wife. Suddenly, he knew the answer and he took his wife home. How did he know which rose bush was his wife?
-
To Winged Zephyr -
Yes, the answer is nothing. Good job.
To JC -
Did the woman take something with her when she returned to the garden? Something like a strip of ribbon or an identifier of that nature?
-
nope but keep thinking :D
Post Merge: November 29, 2011, 02:13:57 AM
to help you out i just noticed it says "one day the husband decided to rescue her" when it should say the next day
-
may it be that she was crying, or the roses was at bloom because he was there?
-
because the bush she was turned into was still in the pot the wizard used to take her home with
either that or its cuz she could talk(it does say "and begged the wizard to let her see them.")
-
sorry it should be "let them see her" sorry for my terrible writing skills
heres the last hint
what happens to a plant when it is left outside all night
-
it is dying and wither, it may also spurt... is that the right answer?
-
no sorry :)
think about what is left on the plants when they are outside all night or what you feel on the grass in the morning and that should help you put the pieces together
-
Covered in dew?
-
YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
he knew it was his wife because she didnt have the dew on the petals :)
heres another
What English word can have 4 of its 5 letters taken away and still retain its original pronunciation
-
is it aaaah? (yelling)
-
nope :)
-
YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
he knew it was his wife because she didnt have the dew on the petals :)
heres another
What English word can have 4 of its 5 letters taken away and still retain its original pronunciation
You evil little Shepherd!!!
The answer of course is Queue! That is despicable. I got hit with inspiration coming out of class. If this isn't the answer, I'm going to die of sheer laughter.
-
it is lol
i never even knew that queue was a word until i found the riddle and looked it up :)
-
Oh my Great Goodness... *sigh. That one was up for a bit wasn't it? Now I just feel silly for not thinking of it earlier...
Now here's one...
One by one we fall from heaven,
down into the depths of past.
Our world is ever upturned
so that yet some time we'll last
What are we?
-
no guesses?
Depressing.
-
XD I think I know this one, is it raindrops?
-
I can see where you would get that, but it is incorrect.
Focus on the concept of time.
-
hmm, this is tricky... is it an old way of counting time? and if so, is it an hourglass, the stuff in it falls one by one, and when you turn it, it repeats... am I right? my mom told me that I should think about something counting time before the handwatch came... so I came to the hourglass... and I hope I'm right... I dunno if this is a fail...
-
Your mother was right. It's the sand in an hourglass (I'm not going to make you be that specific).
How about this...
Each morning I appear to lie at your feet.
All day I will follow no matter how fast you run.
Yet I nearly perish in the midday sun.
What am I?
-

that one is too easy, you're my shadow :P
-
Another good one.
I love the older riddles, even if some are easy to solve...
-
*smiles* then it's my turn!
every dawn begins with me
at dusk I'll be the first you see
and daybreak couldn't come without
what midday centers all about
Daises grow from me, I'm told
And when I come, I end all cold
but in the sun I won't be found
yet still, each day I'll be found
-
You know what kind of riddles I really dislike: Word games.
My first inclination was "the horizon" until I read the second half of the puzzle. Nothing seemed to fit as nothing fit both halves of the puzzle. Then I began to count letters...
The letter D begins each dawn.
-
that's right, the letter D
I'll take one of my own riddles now,
I'm in every mind, in every person, in every being, I exist because of something, as long as that something exist, I will always be here to haunt it, I exist to make ppl suffer, and make them bleed, I am the reason of greed. what am I?
-
My gut feeling wants to say Desire, maybe Envy.
-
hmm, I wan't to give you right on it, but they are also reasons it exist, they are all part of it... and it's not a thing you feel, it's a thing you are, or are not... or stand between the two sides of it
-
Selfish / selfishness? :?
Although, if one wanted to take a very dark view of your riddle, the answer could just as easily be Love. XD
-
you're not far away... the answer I'm after is like the other side of a coin, it only has 2 sides, and it is the word that describes everything bad...
-
Then I have to say Evil or Corruption.
Greed is a corrupt desire. That which is pure has (by definition) has no corruption and nothing is pure except the divine.
Am I any closer?
This is a good riddle by the way. Very intriguing.
-

you got it completely right, the answer is evil, as long as good exist, evil will haunt it, and good can't exist without evil, and thanks

Here's a poem riddle by Emily Dickinson
I am, in truth, a yellow fork
From tables in the sky
By inadvertent finers dropped
The awful cutlery
Of Mansions never quite disclosed
And never quite concealed
The apparatus of the dark
To ignorance revealed
And if that is too easy, here's one of my own wording. I'm terrible at poems, so...
A symbol of beauty, I am soft and fragile
I reach for the sky, but others desire me
Take care when you touch me, for I draw blood
And then we will show the same colors.
-

hmm, I don't know about the last one, but the answer to the first one is lightning, or thunder...
-
Got the first one. I came across that one and thought it was pretty nice. Easy, but nice.
-
the riddle you gave have bugged me all day! I need to find the answer to it... is it something that live? like a plant or animal, or is it more like a feeling?
-
It is a plant.
And (please forgive me for this) but it's pleasing to see you bugged by it. X3 I based the form of the riddle off of another, but I wrote it. It's making me happy that I created a riddle that's puzzling someone and isn't just a simple fix.
-
hmm... so it is a plant that draws blood... that means you're looking for a specific race... I bet $10 on it that it's bug eater plant... so is it the Carnivorous?
-
You'd lose that bet Roxy. It's not a carnivorous plant, but it does draw blood. Focus on the last two lines...
"Careful when you touch me for I draw blood
And then we will show the same colors"
You're getting there! Don't give up!
-
the answer you seek is thorns on a rosebush is it not?
-
And WhiteWolf with the correct guess!
It is a rose. A rose has thorns that draw blood.
-
it is the movement of the sea
the largest mirror
the lovers light
the second sun
the one my kind cry to
what is it?
(i made it up myself but it dosent rhyme)
-
You are the master of waves, the sister of the sun.
You are surely the moon.
-
was it realy that easy?
-
For me, yes.
I love the moon... :$ ... and actually memorized a lot of trivia / riddles / etc about it. For example, there is a riddle in Greek mythology that ties the moon to a specific ring and ...
Now I'm babbling... And the riddle isn't good for this forum as you would need the ring itself to make any sense of the riddle.
-
i love the moon too
-
It is my favorite celestial object...
Here's another one...
Ripped from my mother's womb
Beaten and burned
I become a bloodthirsty killer
What am I?
-
conan the barbarian?
-
Nice guess, ( X3 ) but incorrect, sadly.
-
It is my favorite celestial object...
Here's another one...
Ripped from my mother's womb
Beaten and burned
I become a bloodthirsty killer
What am I?
that one is too easy, I have crafted items of iron before, It's iron ore...
-
Excellent Roxy. Your turn
-
I was in class, and I got this awesome idea... I have multiple brains, often between 6 to 16. I never sleep, I never eat. but I have energy all day. if one ore more of my brains stop working, the other brains can get the job done... and then I can get the broken brains switched. often I dominate others, and I am most likely also one of the reason this forrum is working, what am I?
awesome, I wrote this without misspelling a single word
-
Are you a server? A computer? Or some form of networking device I know not of?
-
I'm a server.... did I give it away when I mentioned the forrum?
-
My first clue was the multiple, fixable brains... the forum just solidified it.
-
then since no one has given a riddle I wanna do so
little Miss Eticote, in her white petticoat and her red nose, the longer she stands the shorter she grows
find out this one without google it and I'll be proud of you... it's a tricky one...
-
Is it a candle? The red nose being a flame?
-
-.-' why must you be this good at them... I'm round as an apple and as deep as a cup, all the horses in the world coudn't manage to drag me up...
-
Are you emptiness? I can't shake the feeling that it's a void. Weird feeling, I know, but...
-
the earths core XD jk
hmm... thats a trickey one
-
nope... not close...
-
is it he oceans :?
-
no :P the ocean has different forms...
-
is it wisdom? i dont know why i asked that i just did

After having a day or two to think on it, now I know why I asked if it was a void of some sort!
It's a well! A well is as round as an apple and as deep as a cup, for it holds water.
-
that's right^^ your turn ^^
-
Alright then, here's a riddle you must read carefully...
I turn polar bears white
and I will make you cry.
I make guys have to pee
and girls comb their hair.
I make celebrities look ridiculous
and normal people look famous
I turn pancakes brown
and make your champagne bubble.
If you squeeze me, I'll pop.
If you look at me, you'll pop.
Can you guess the riddle?
-
is it pressure?
-
It is not. Remember to read carefully...
-
air? Pain? Nervousness?
-
Still incorrect, though some funny guesses.
This is a bit of a word game / riddle. Read it carefully.
-
is it eyes?

or your brain/mind
-
Still not close. Interesting guesses though.
-
is it nothin? calcium? carbon Dioxide/ monoxide? snow? Ice? water?
-
The puzzle is a word game. The trick is the last line:
"Can you guess the riddle?"
The correct answer is "no". There is no correct answer as nothing does all the things described in the lines of the riddle, so it's impossible to guess. I'll accept nothing however, as it's just trolling The Sad Guy too much.
XD
Good job man!

what in gods name is it man!

yes it is
-
here is the riddle
The person who makes it sells it. the person who buys it never uses it. The person who uses it dose not know there using it. what is it?
-
I think I may have an unfair advantage here. I believe I've heard this one before.
It's a coffin.
-
you right and ya that is a little unfair
-
burns but does not consume
smolders but does not go out
forges that which can not be seen touched or sensed
but is invaluable
-
I would love to say love. I'm thinking it's that.
-
rage or fury?
-
no no and no but it is required for all of the above
-
is it emotions?
-
nope but dig a little deeper into the essence of a persons soul
-
is it pain?
-
I would like to venture Desire.
-
oh Otenbon you are so close you almost bumped into it.
-
Well then, how about this... is it want? Or perhaps to go in differing directions need, like, or lack?
-
no you were in the right direction just looking for somthing a bit stronger than want or desire
-
Stronger than want, but not desire... hmmm. That is a puzzler...
How about Crave?
-
I bet at lust
-
no do you give up?
-
Stronger than want, greater than desire, can burn, and is central to a person's soul... Depending upon your philosophical views (I'm rather Hobbesian) I would say that it would be one of the seven deadly sins. In this case, Jealousy or Envy.
Eh... I'm rather depressing when it comes to philosophical riddles and the like. I have to stick to the darker answers like that.
Jealousy, Envy, or Avarice.
-
nope the answer is eluding you ... it is what love is made of and what creates emotions...it is what moves you forward in life
-
Well, drat. Me and my Hobbesian views mixed with a practical and scientific mind...
The origin of Love and what makes emotions are biochemical reactions... Surprisingly enough, a different set of reactions also move you forward, but I doubt that's the answer.
This always happens when I'm stumped by something, which is usually what happens around riddles when I haven't heard them before or know their origin and thereby can use the psychological profile of the area / time to think it out... (Yep, I'm that guy)
It is stronger than Desire, and more powerful than Want, but is not a base feeling. It is central to the soul...
Is it thought? The mind? How about Need?
-
nope dig deeper.
-
Deeper, deeper, deeper...
Instincts?
-
ok slow down.
not that deep.
-
"burns but does not consume
smolders but does not go out
forges that which can not be seen touched or sensed
but is invaluable..."
Perhaps... Heart?
-
close but not quite
-
Okay then... how about... Soul?
-
*sighs*
passion
-
Fair enough. XD
I guess I was dancing circles around the answer huh?
-
yes that you were
-
Alright then.
To keep this thread moving, and to make up for my nubishness of hitting every possible answer for White Wolf's riddle except the correct one, here's another riddle.
"What runs but never walks, often murmurs but never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, and has a mouth but never eats?"
-
A river or a stream or a creek.
Don't bother telling me it's right, I know that it is. I'll just post my riddle.
A man saw a fish and because of this he shot himself.
Why?
