man I am hooked on this game. I've been playing it a lot in anticipation of Skyrim on November 11th. This game is just...just...massive o.O
-
I have to agree, Oblivion is just amazing!
Almost every time I play, however, I usually end up going on a massive killing spree XD
-
yeah I don't seem to be able to stop doing that either XD thank the Nine for the Gray Fox cowl (hehe game reference stuck in there XD). it's like a second life, its so accurate o.O
-
Aw nice! I still need to get that! It sounds like a blast to use!
Have you found the skeleton key? It's pretty awesome too because you can break into pretty much everything with it XD
-
I just got it today actually ^_^ it gets me through every door!
-
That's the beauty of it! With it, no one (or thing) is safe! XD
Are you playing Oblivion on the PC or a game console?
I play on the 360, but I really wish I could play it on the PC. The mods and cheats for Oblivion add a whole new layer of fun!
-
i'm playing on ps3 unfortunately, I really wanna try some of the mods and cheats! there's even a mod to turn Kvatch into a fully functioning city!
-
Yeah I saw that mod too! Looks so cool! I love some of the spell mods you can find, it really adds to the game.
As far as cheats go, no clipping is so great! It basically lets you go through anything and it's really interesting to see how many ways you can break the game that way XD
-
i was playing morrowind and i set the console so that my jumps took me miles into the sky XD needless to say I died every time I landed
-
Awesome! XD
One of my favorite deaths was when I was killed on my horse. You just pop off! XD
-
right now i'm doing Dark Brotherhood quests!! these are the most fun quests in the game!
-
ohmygosh...IM SO CLEPTO in that game..
..>>
steal ALL the things!!!!
8D
i alwase join the theives and assassins..they have the best quests!!!!!!!!!
*look at my signature*
-
"shadow hide you" that's brilliant! XD my character is a thief and assassin through and through, so I used those skills to close the gates of Oblivion! *epic music*
-
Same here, though I haven't completed the main quest just yet
Also Kaprika, I have to agree. If I won't get caught, I have a nasty habit of taking very nice things XD
Though the time I was apprehended for 'stealing' a piece of crumpled up paper was just rediculous
-

make sure you do complete the main quest, the payoff and feeling of accomplishment make it worth it :3
-
lol, i steal anything worth more than 50 coin peices.
and anytime im caught i just kill them
>:3
then go pay off my bounty to my doyen later
GO GET THE GRAY FOX COWL!!!!! IT ROCKS ASS
*lol i often go into town forgetting im wearing it*

-
Nice! I'm going to make it a point to get that cowl!
Also what is the highest bounty you've ever had? I think I got somewhere into the 50,000s at one point XD
-
i love it when the guards have no idea i was the one who did all that stuff as soon as i took the cowl off XD
I've had a bounty of about 20k before...had to serve a jail sentence on that one, I did
-
I managed to start an all out brawl in the mages guild at one point. I had the guards after me and so I hid in one of the guilds. When one of the guards came in they all went straight after the guard! It was so great! Now I have people to fight for me! XD
-
I had the guards beating each other up when I started hiding behind guards for protection from the other guards XD
-
Beautiful!
I managed to find an enrage spell that makes almost anyone you touch randomly get aggressive and attack any person in sight
Of course as soon as they attack someone the guards are on them like white on rice. 'Tis a great way to depopulate a city
-

you DO know that you can get more money and items without having to pay your bounty, AND get your status reset, right?
-
*keeps doing the Dark Brotherhood quests* man these are good XD
-
How far along are you in the Dark Brotherhood?
-
now I'm a Silencer, so I'm doing Dead Drop quests :3
-
I always liked to steal everything from the imperial city shops :3
Oh and this one time I found a night vision ring, like being a kahjit without actually being one
-

I am a kahjit, and my brother (who knows i'm furry) said "oh of course you chose that one >.>)
-
Woah you flew through the dark brotherhood!
You must have just finished the murder mystery! I love that contract! XD
Made my own save file just for it
Also I found the same ring! Can definitely come in handy. I myself am an argonian, which is intrinsically hilarious for some reason.

-
the murder mystery was my fave contract ever! the last guy was like "if the murderer was in here and it's just you and me left then the murderer was..." and then i killed him XD
-
ive beaten all the guilds and i run them all
then again ive been playing for over a year now
-
I used to play a lot then I left the game in my truck for about two months and just fished it out last week XD
...I have a lot of random stuff in my car
-
I haven't played Oblivion since...June >.>
Methinks it's time to play again~
-
oil up your sword and restock your arrows, its oblivion time >:3
-
AWWWWW YEAHHH!
Now I know what I'm doing over the weekend XD
-
this is my break, I'm wasting not doing things like *pfft* homework
-
one problem I had with this game was the leveling system. I'd prefer it not to level with me and have higher level mobs in kvatch and super high level in cheydinhall and super easy ones in leyawinn, just for example
-
i'm actually leveling faster than ever. for some reasons my skills are just jumping up
-
You gotta be careful with that. If you don't level yourself correctly you can actually end up worse off by leveling up because enemies level with you.
-
i actually do pretty fine :3 ooh the drama is unfolding for the dark brotherhood o.O
-
Very nice! I can't play the game anymore without setting the difficulty on the easiest mode XP
Ooh you must be near the end of the brotherhood questline
-
I am.... oh my god what's gonna happen next! *edge of his seat*
-
Yeah Dark Brotherhood kinda rocks XD
-
except for what they did to that Speaker guy....yeesh give him a break
-
Yeah no kidding, they certainly have some interesting...fixations XD
-
*is declared Listener* i lead the Black Hand >:D
-
Congratulations! Make sure you talk to the new recruit! He can follow you around and actually do things, unlike a certain adoring fan...
-
that guy is hanging out in my Cheydinnal house...has been for a game year now
-
I forgot where I left my adoring fan honestly XD
He's probably in some random cave or town just standing there....staring...hmmm that dude needs a goal in life
-
i forgot him and came back a game year later and he acted like nothing happened XD
-
He does the same thing if you kill him because he can actually come back to life for some reason. He's the only npc who can respawn apparently
-
how do you get rid of him!
-
If I wanted to get rid of my adoring fan I would just tell him to wait on some random mountain and just leave him there XD
I also tried to bring him into the Mythic Dawn with me... they didn't accept him...
-
you know what you should do? take him through an Oblivion gate, make him wait at the entrance, and then seal the gate! :D
-
Brilliant idea! Poor guy will be erased from the universe XD
-
well...trapped on the planes of Oblivion forever *silently thanks Martin Septim*
I did something like this in Fallout 3 where I got Butch as a follower and then I sealed him forever in Vault 108 XD
-
Dang!
The life of an npc party member can be terrifying! XD
-
I bet he's still in there come to think of it... I could go get him but...I don't feel like it. *padlocks Vault 108*
-
so everyone knows how to steal shit and get away with it, right? (as in not even have police looking for you, and without maxing out your stats for pickpocketing)
-
kinda, i just max my sneak because that's my type of character
-
If I really want to steal something without being caught I just save, go into sneak mode, and keep trying to steal the thing. If I get caught I just reload and keep trying XD
Isn't there also that invisibility trick though where you just enchant your stuff with invisibility so that you can't be detected?
-
I've never heard of that one.
has anybody ever heard of the duplication glitch? all you have to do is buy at least two of the same magic scroll, then click it twice (or however many scrolls there are) and then drop the item you wish to duplicate. if it works then two of the same item will appear! Note: some items do not duplicate
-
Yes! I've done it on my xbox game! It's a lot easier to grasp than the arrow duplication trick.
It's also a very nice way to get some easy gold XD
-
I have like a 2000g item that I duplicate all the time...which explains why I own all the houses in the game XD
-
I'm trying to do the same thing XD
The countess in Chorral won't sell me the stupid home just yet, though for some reason. Think she'd be more grateful after saving the town from an oblivion gate T_T
I think she's just racist against argonians or something
-
nobody likes a Khajit apparently :(
-
Tamriel just fails to grasp how awesome the beast races are XD
Hopefully they will be even more awesome in Skyrim though! Can't wait~
-
I had someone yell "housecat!" at me :(
I cannot wait for Skryim!! i hope the terrain is more diverse and such :3
-
I'm "Pondscum" XD
I hope the terrain is pretty varied too. At first I was worried the whole northern concept would not appeal to me, but I have to say it's turning out really nice. I will miss the early renaissance feel of Oblivion though.
-
one thing i did not like about the Oblivion terrain was that it was all forests and mountains, I'd like a desert, jungle, or something thrown in
-
That is true, I usually wind up exploring more of the coast around Anvil more than the central and eastern parts of Cyrodil because it's... sorta different XD
-
also I hope there's more city-quests, I love those better than dungeons. dungeons piss me off >:(
-
I would have to agree as most of the dungeons do wind up sort of looking the same. At least maybe more variety there. Perhaps monsters I can actually deal with would be nice too XD
-
I always get lost and I'm not one for dungeon crawling. I like to run around and do things in cities!
-
Not to mention the city quests are pretty well written and conceived. Glarthir's quest for example was just fun XD
-
among my favorites are the thieves guild quests that don't involve dungeon crawling, i have so much fun doing that!
-
Definitely! Then there's the fact that my character is like made for those missions so I fly right through them
-
exactly! I absolutely looove to sneak :D
-
Same here, though I wish I was a bit more well-rounded because sneaking is difficult to do with several trolls chasing after you. My only option then is run and run fast XD
-
i have a great weapon so I can usually deal with that stuff :3
-
Is it an enchanted weapon? Those always help until you run out of charge...
Gotta find out how to use those darn soul gems
-
i always just get the mages to recharge it XD
-
Yeah, but when it gives out on you in the middle of a quest it's not very handy XD
-
I always have a backup non-magical weapon for that!
-
I'd do that, but I'm already carrying two sets of armor and countless other miscellaneous objects that are just too much to go through XD
-
I have Imperial Dragon armor from the main quest. that stuff is bomb ^_^
-
Oooh... I really should consider finishing that main quest XD
-
I always equip it when I know i need to be stealthy and armored because they gave me the light armor version
-
@Kanga: I just said, "Without maxing any stats"
Actually, there's an even easier way to do it. In fact, you can even do it at the beginning of the game and get some epic gear early on. One of the things I love to do when I first start the game is go straight to the first oblivion gate after accumulating around 300-400 arrows. Basically, it was easiest since there's only ONE guard there. I would shoot an arrow at him while running away from him backwards. He usually dies within 200 arrows if your archer stat is what you chose to have. Anyways, after he dies, I take all his epic armor, bow, clothes and money.
Now here's how to do the trick (ALWAYS works). Run into the courtyard outside of the jail, and drop EVERYTHING that you stole (including money) and let them arrest you. After being released, you'll be in the courtyard, and guess what? There's all the stuff you stole earlier, and you can pick it all back up without consequence~!
-
i always just go back for the evidence chest XD
-
Oh nice! I hadn't thought of trying that! XD
-
you can make the pirate ship in the Imperial City your free home by killing all the pirates on it, they never come back and you can sleep there and stuff XD
-
The guards finished off the pirates after I killed their captain. I should consider moving in there XD
-
I've already moved in there.
here's a hint: go to the Bloated Float tavern in the Imperial City and rent a room for the night. you might be pleasantly surprised...bwahahaha >:3
-
@Kanga: yea, but with this trick: 1) It's faster 2) You can do it with a non-stealth class.
@Sicutio: I actually found this trick out by mistake. When I first played this game, I had killed a bandit and took his clothes, and I was hunted down when I went into the city. At the time, I had no idea where the hell I was, so I just dumped the stolen goods, thinking they would leave me alone, but they didn't. When I came back out, the stuff I dropped was still there, so I use it on Guards and Royal Personnel to get a ton of money and good weapons/armor ahead of time, making the game pretty easy.
-
whodunit??? *kills five guests*
-
YES!
Finally played the game today~ XD
It was so great to run around in that game again! I went straight for an oblivion gate near Anvil when I started and it felt good to destroy another one of those blasted gates. I have to say, I really dislike the plane of Oblivion for some reason... kinda annoying, but there's one less place to deal with!
While I was going into a tower though, the adoring fan I had brought along with me randomly died when he fell onto a spike elevator...two enemies promptly followed suit. Random moments like that just totally make the game XD
-

shoulda kept him alive to seal him in Oblivion XD I really hate the planes of Oblivion, they suuuck
-
I was aiming to, but he seriously died out of nowhere XD
Also the planes of Oblivion are largely why I play the game on the easiest setting-- it's just more fun XD I can just run around slicing everything to ribbons with my frost dagger!
-

I have an enchanted blade of woe!
-
I haven't used the one I have yet, my frost dagger is too shiny XD
I seriously need to consider leaving more stuff behind though, the majority of the time I was running through there, I was one point away from being over-encumbered! It's all the darn potions and ingredients I never put away XD
-
I always get overencumbered! it's the most annoying feature of Oblivion
-
That and the really really slow menu system. It gets really bad when you have to wade through so much stuff in your menu just to get what you need x_x
-
I hate the loading system...GOD half the game is loading screens
-
That too, it's such a shame to have so much loading!
I also hear that a lot of people are irritated by the voice acting because it's the same for many characters, but I actually like that for some reason XD The voice actors did a pretty good job too! I can't imagine an imperial guard accosting me in any other voice XD
-
the voice actors are messed up sometimes. like sometimes I'll be talking to an old woman and then I'll select "rumors" and the voice actor totally changes
-
Oh I love that! The character is all serious for one moment, but then they suddenly get all chipper as they discuss other events XD It's just as great as the random conversations the characters have with each other!
-
yeah the conversations are not very linear XD they insult me one second and then praise me as "Champion of Cyrodil" the next X3
-
Exactly! I'm kinda hoping that they keep the weird conversations in Skyrim, but if not, no big loss
-
because it would be hilarious XD
-
I remember hearing somewhere that Bethesda was intentionally leaving some bugs in the game so there is still hope! I also hope they keep the awkward bug that results from squishing a character in between a door and the wall XD
-
ugh, some of those bugs are annoying
-
I haven't had a huge problem with bugs, but surprisingly the game has crashed on me several times T_T
It just comes out of nowhere too!
-
some of the bugs make quests unfinishable
-
Ugh that would be super annoying! Have you had a bug like that pop up?
-
I've had bugs that make the GAME unfinishable. like one time it went into cutscene mode and the guy was supposed to talk to me but he just stood there with his back turned to me. I woulda been stuck there forever if I hadn't gone to a previous save
-
Awww man that's terrible! Thankfully I haven't anything like that happen in my game...yet :|
-
it was because he auto-attacked a city guard
-
Well that's some weird AI for ya XD
-
I also like it when they sleep in the wrong houses XD
-
Oh Radiant AI~
I believe this sums it up nicely:
Oblivion RAI in action (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-zk0eodQHI#)
-
then you'll love this
Oblivion - Ni - Ni - Ni - Ni - Ni (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9zeQMbGEPc#)
-
XD XD XD XD
I had forgotten about this!!! I love this! XD
And this is why I love argonians~
-
I only have Knights of the Nine :(
-
I got the game of the year edition for the 360, but I have barely touched Shivering Isles
-
shivering isles is a huge one, i have only gotten a glance at it
-
It's also kinda funny XD
The people there are all pretty crazy and the scenery is pretty fantastic so it is a nice change of pace
-
one thing I appreciated about World of Warcraft was the scenery. ever see Nagrand? they should add stuff like that to Elder Scrolls!
-
Oh wow, google has shown me and I'm impressed XD
That would be spectacular to see honestly! It would be like being able to explore some sort of surreal painting!
-
there is a quest like that in Oblivion:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:A_Brush_With_Death (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:A_Brush_With_Death)
-
Oh yeah!!! That's right! I had forgotten about it, but I remember I had such a hard time with it because of all those darn trolls XD
The environment was really nice though, it was really neat to see such a different looking area. Too bad it was sealed off after you cleared the quest :/
-
i ended up murdering the painter anyways >:3
-
XD Nice! I remember as soon as I rescued the guy, his wife bursts in and demand I leave because I was 'trasspassing' at the time. Talk about fickle! She was like pleading to me to help find her husband and this is the thanks I get? Yeesh XD
-
just the script messing up XD I got my revenge with..murder!
-
Nice! XD
It's as if the game encourages you to be some sort of bipolar good/bad guy
-
or in my case fully bad *rubs paws together evilly*
-
Ooh the dark side eh? I can see the appeal, but I prefer to live the life of hero by day, assassin by night
-
I am INFAMOUS :D
-
Infamous! Nice reference!
Based on my characters actions, I would say I am a sociopath XD
-
hell me too, my favorite thing to do is sneak around and kill people in their sleep XD
-
Yup! One time I burst into the mages guild while they were all asleep and tried to murder as many of the mages in there as I could before they automatically kicked me out XD
-
I always just break back in with my skeleton lockpick!
-
I love that skeleton key! Out of habit, though, I still collect every little lockpick I can find XD
-
me too XD just in case i get arrested!
-
Exactly! Never know when they could come in handy!
Although I can obsessively rummage through plants for ingredients too and that can get annoying XD
-
I always steal valuable crap XD
-
It's amazing how much valuable stuff you can find in homes just laying around. It's really easy to steal too XD Then with the skeleton key I've been often picking the locks on all the stands with all the really good stuff in it
-
I love to just be a robber XD
-
I tried that one time in a guild I think. I just took everything I wanted and tossed things all over the place to make it look like I ransacked it. That was fun XD Can't remember if it stayed that way or not though.
-
i hate it when i accidentally try to murder an essential character though..
-
The game does a good job of usually preventing them from dying (they only go unconscious if you kill them right?). I can recall using that to turn Martin Septim into a pincushion of arrows. It was probably the most sadistic I've been on that game XD
First I knocked him out, then I would wait for him to try and get up so I could shoot him with an arrow and knock him out again. I did this until his whole body was just covered in arrows! T'was very entertaining
-
I did that to the Countess of Cheydinnal, I snuck into her room and kept knocking her out on her bed XD
-
With graphic, town and race modding especially I love this game, it is really massive and has hours of playtime, though I wish it had more dialouge choices and effects and outcomes like New Vegas had. One thing I liked more about it than Vegas though was the guards and how I could build a bounty and join an assassin's guild. In Vegas, if I killed or stole from from someone then I'd just get shot at, not arrested :/ though obviously there's no point in being arrested in the wasteland, no jail until you get to California.
Bethesda really stole my heart with their games, though I wish they'd pay more attention to their modders and update their games a bit to be well...more realistic and pretty. The modders are better at their jobs than some of the actual game developers.
*points to sig* I'm counting down till Skyrim! But I doubt I'll be able to buy it right when it comes out :(
-
I'll be first in line seeing as my brother needs my valid ID to purchase an M rated game XD I didn't like how Vegas had an ending though, leave your games open-ended!
-
@Katie
I'm not going to be able to buy Skyrim anytime soon either. :/ In fact, I want to avoid buying it for console and just try waiting until I can get a better PC to play it on. I know the mods and cheats will definitely be awesome for Skyrim and I don't want to miss out like I did with Oblivion
@KangaDrake
Yeah, games that let you keep playing even after everything is all said and done is always nice. Of course there is always new game + as well, but that's another story... XD
-
I liked how it had an ending that said what happened to you, but I agree that being able to keep playing and/or having more quests after you finish the main story would be nice.
-
yeah, I took over New Vegas and I wish I could have played as the ruler of the Strip
-
I'm transferring a few of my oblivion mods over to skyrim ^^;
-
I was just playing skyrim and I can name a few things that annoy me about it:
1. the map system. I cannot find my way around to save my life and often the roads really suck and I can't climb any mountains >.<
2. the text size. I'm legally blind in my left eye and that makes it difficult to read the already tiny text on my crappy small tv. putting it on my hd tv seemed to improve it though.
3. also the enemies are a bit difficult for me so far (though I've only had like an hour of playtime) I'm getting my furry butt kicked by all enemies >.<
4. quest glitch. so far the game has already refused to give me a quest integral to the Companion questline.
Other than that I like it! ^_^
-

They have a patch for the quest line problems out already
-
really? how do I get it? *i has ps3*
-
Don't know I have it for the PC
-
Please remember this topic is about Oblivion, not Skyrim. Please stay on topic.
-
I can't help it everything I wanna say is entangled with both games like I plan to make a huge oblivion mod to make it look all awesome like skyrim and that I need to put together a team to help me do so ^^ since oblivions pretty big and would be foolish to try alone
-
^This is all the more reason to have a nice PC
Elder Scrolls is the best reason for a new computer! XD
-
I was literally planing to by a new computer just for skyrim but back on topic now... I'm curious who's going to still play Oblivion now Skyrim has come out?
-
meeee! i still haven't even gotten to see half of Oblivion, it's that huge :3
-
idk after skyrim I just can't get back into Oblivion >.> I miss all my mods tho and my ears and tail ...
-
i'm khajiit! :D
-
I was a Level 10 Wolven Anthro on Oblivion that was leader of the Mages Guild/Fighters Guild/Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild/Archeology Guild Champion of Cyridill, Madgod, Member of the Order of the Thorn, Leader of the Mythic Dawn, Daedric Lord Of the Immortal Night, Grand Champion of the Arena, (Not so Holy) Holy Crusader, Member of the Order of the Silver Blood.
-
I'm still playing Oblivion too!
Don't have Skyrim yet, but even then I could never abandon my journeys through Cyrodil as mah argonian ^_^
That's a large number of titles there Aloneness by the way, I'm still working on getting every title I can XD
-
in many ways I prefer Cyrodil to Skyrim :/
