i am graduating soon and im not the most popular kid in school, infact i already get made made fun of just for my collar so i was wondering should i wear a tail to my graduation or not?
-
From what I know of graduations, they're quite important for you guys and you do have an outfit and everything that everyone should wear, so personally I'd say no. Go traditionally.
Though I suppose it's a personal choice all in all.
-
i was thinking that i could make a small hole through the robe.
-
I say yes, who are they to say you can't do it. Besides, highschool graduation really isn't all that important, although you may want to do a cost benefit analysis before you make a final decision.
-
what you mean cost benefit analysis? ( i learned in civics but i forgot)
-
I think it's kind of disrespectful to the occasion and everyone involved. Graduation is a day for every student to celebrate making it through those years. There are, undoubtedly, going to be at least a few people who will be upset about anyone trying to ruin the day for them. Not to mention teachers and other school officials are often strict when it comes to graduation attire. It sometimes can be less formal depending on your school, but really... Graduation is not the day to wear a tail. :/
That's just my opinion though, I guess. Graduation is a formal occasion, formal occasions usually call for formal attitudes and dress.
-
well im small town and im really not trying to disrespect
-
i second what Windged Zephyr says

what you mean cost benefit analysis? ( i learned in civics but i forgot)
Just consider all the pros and cons of doing it. Are you going to piss people off? Probably. Will it be worth it? Maybe. It all depends on your personal preferences and whether or not you can deal with the pressure of people getting on you about it. personally, I'm not a very social person to begin with and smile like an idiot the entire time I'm doing something out of the norm, which just makes me look stupid, but you could be different.
-
I dunno about you, but when I graduated my robes were rented. If you poke a hole in a rented robe I don't think the people who lent them to you would really appreciate it.
Besides, graduations are something to remember and everyone is expected to dress formally, even if it is just a high school graduation. If you're already getting made fun of, I don't think wearing a tail at graduation would be the best idea.
At the end of the day it's up to you, but just remember that graduations are often the last time people see each other, so it depends on how you want to be remembered. Plus you have to take into consideration your family's views, since I'm sure they're going to want you to take pictures with relatives and all that, and they might not want to remember that day with an out of place tail. I'm going to be blunt, most family members would be embarrassed with something like that.
-
I understand why you want to wear a tail. But I say no for this reason mainly.
It will most likely upset a the people there. I don't know about your small town specifically, but usually they aren't full of the most open minded people. And it could totally ruin the occasion for everybody, even you. And think about if you ever end up going to a high school reunion. I just think its in your best interest to not wear the tail.
But in the end the decision is up to you. Not us. This is just my opinion.
-
go with what feels right. if you want to where one then who is stoping you from doing it.
-
Go right ahead if you want, like it has been said, no-one is stopping you.
But I would never even consider it if it was me, I don't know why you'd even want to wear one, why it even crossed your mind. This is a formal occasion, meant to be a rite of passage. Graduation ceremony is NOT a party. People and family will be upset and make rude comments, which might just ruin the day for them AND you. It would also be extremely disrespectful to the whole occasion of graduation, as graduates are supposed to be in formal robes.
You may not be trying to disrespect, but you would be anyway.
If you want my opinion, save the tail for the party after graduation, wearing it there might actually be fun and have a point.
-
Basically what Zeph and Katie have already said.
But there's also the question of whether you'd be permitted to, which I highly doubt. At my high school graduation, we weren't even allowed to draw on our caps (past classes had been able to) or personalize them in any way, and I live in a small town, so yeah.
To answer your question: No, I don't think you should. But, no, I can't stop you either.
-
i guess iam the only one here who thinks diffrently. but those who have a difrent opeion then mine do have a point. all in all its really up to you.
-
personally I wouldnt if i were in your position, but then again we are two completely different minds so do what you feel is right.
-
I say no. There's a time an' a place to be Furry an' this ain't one of them. As peeps 'av said, your Graduation is a formal occasion an' it's not just your day, it's for your friends, family an' classmates as well. Don't end up causin' a scene an' end up bein' a pariah. Use yer noggin' on this one, you might think it's a good idea now, but later on it may be somethin' you regret.
-
I would say no, for the ceremony but yes fo the party/dinner/dane for any furry item you have. Plus, only like half the people are on the dance floor at a time, everyone else is on the sidee talking ot playing stuff.
