Title: Hey there! I'd like some help with my fursona, please!

Canines are known to be loyal, friendly, pack animals, courageous, etc. Do any of their traits match you?

Or you can think the other way around and wonder which other species have the same traits as you already do. And that can be anything from birds to mammals to reptiles or fish or even mythological.

Post by: Puncia on September 26, 2011, 01:17:54 AM: The beauty of creating your own fursona is that it can be anything you want. As you see, I have a demon right now but usually I use a fursona called Puncia, a winged snow leopard with purple spots.

You're free to mix species and traits as much as you want, or create a new one all together. If you like dragons and wolves, you can mix these as well.

Here is a wingless Eastern dragon with fur and strong wolven traits:

What do you like about dragons? Is it the powers they have? The horns and claws? Wings?

Same question about wolves. What makes them special to you?

And most importantly - do you like the idea of a fursona like this? Or do you want to go in a different direction... What about a wolf with dragon horns and a really long furred dragon tail? Mix and match galore.

I love dragons for their scales and their reputation to be majestic. Their wings and teeth are just bonuses! I love their tails, too.

I love wolves for their fur, and /their/ reputation to be majestic, as well! Canine teeth are awesome, and their tails are amazing!

Hm. I could try matching features, but I already have a sort of dragonsona I drew a while back... perhaps I could morph it with wolf-like features?

And remember that fursonas can change whenever you feel like it too, so you can always make another or change one you have.

Post by: [Sov] on September 26, 2011, 02:51:20 AM: Yup, as Faricho has already said pretty much everything that I could have possibly thought of/have been given advice on already. My main fursona is a horse, but I also have a character list, and each of my characters I also identify with. So while not being my main fursona, they are all a part of me.

To lay it out a bit more:

Katayida (Kay) is my main fursona, and is a horse. I identify with horses the most, because of my personal roots.

Nashayan (Nash) is a character of mine, and is a white wolf. I identify with him because he's the tougher more volatile side of me, who lets the soft side out sometimes.

Septar is another character of mine, and is a blue dragon. I identify with her because she is shy and brainy. Sure, but unsure, and very serious, but also curious too.

I have plans for two other characters, a Pegasus, and a black panther, but they are still in the early developing stages.

there's nothing wrong with actively trying to create one, but you'll find that the more time you spend in the furry world, you'll just kinda click into one in the end. i drifted in and out of being a wolf, dragon, raccoon, rat and fox (who didn't?) for like, 4 years before a settled on lion.

and even if you do feel the need to pick something, whatever you pick you'll eventually come to embrace and identify with purely because you've spent so much time identifying with it.

isn't human psychology fun? though probably not as fun as furry psychology

And I couldn't agree more to not stressing it. I have only one fursona and then I got tired of looking at their face so I just swapped it to a random demon I made up a while back. For me personally it's just a persona or mask through which I communicate in the furry community.

I was also thinking about making a suit to go with my fursona, so it can't be too elaborate, right? (Furry psychology = awesome sauce. xD)

if you're intending to get a suit of your sona, the complexity of your fursona depends on how deep your pockets are. there have been some pretty crazy suits in the past like very elaborate dragons or gryphons

Here's one I quite like. I only coloured this myself, the lines were done by somebody else. Bare in mind that it's not a male. Puncia is androgyne - you can't guess the sex by looks alone. Not the same as trans/herm or femboy.

There is also a furry themed art site much like DA that is FurAffinity, you can also make an account there if you're interested in fur related art. That's also the easiest way to find artists to commission them in case you want them to draw you something.

I'm wondering if my favorite furs and scales are what matter, and should be placed in my final piece, or if I need to think about my personality more in order to find animals. Also, on a side note, is there any way to find what animals fit with certain personality traits? I really appreciate the help. =]

Post by: Ares the Ram on October 04, 2011, 08:54:57 PM: if you do a google search, you can find multiple personality tests to fit yourself to animals. Some Ive done have marked me as a gorilla and a ram but as you can see, I chose otherwise.

As to what your fursona should look like, wether it should be a favorite color or markings or to fit your personality, there is no correct answer. It can be either or, or both. I'd go with picking your favorites myself.

were loyal to the ones we love and care about deeply

try personality test and if you really want try looking up animal behavaior, see if you have trates that match up with that anaimal
