what is your guyses thoughts on the ancient astroughnaught theory?
-
if they existed once and intervened in human history then why aren't they doing so now? that is my response
-
who says they are not?
-
good point, but to what end are they influencing us? it seems any intelligent civilization would just write off humans as ignorant savages

rendelshame forest ufo sighting a person was given some binary by a ufo.

The spiritual path that I follow revolves around the idea that there are ancient aliens. The Sumerians had sculptures of humans in space suits. And of things the very closely resemble ships that look like apollo. Now. This does not PROVE their existence, but I also believe that the gods of the ancient religions were actually just ancient aliens. That the people worshiped as gods because of the aliens spiritual powers.

It's an interesting theory that has been around for a good while (although it appears to be picking up again as of late) and I have to admit that even from a sceptical perspective, if we make the assumption that a) There are intelligent forms of life in the universe besides us and b) They are capable of reaching us...
Well, it certainly makes more sense on a scientific level than the beings worshipped in the past being gods. If the so-called "gods" are indeed just other forms of life out there in the cosmos rather than some set of "higher" beings who we can never observe in a scientific manner...well, ahem. Sure, we haven't scientifically proven behind any doubt that "Aliens are out there"(TM) but from a scientific view their existence should be easier to prove than that of the ancient gods.
On a slightly less controversial topic, if various extraterrestrial have had their hands in guiding us in the past, then it might explain the otherwise somewhat unlikely path of development human beings have undergone over the millenia. One has to wonder what purpose these beings had if they were indeed responsible for guidance/development. Common theory is that they may be trying to shape we humans into a less destructive race, especially considering how many 20th and 21st century Encounters contained environment messages for the abductees.

that sure didn't work, we're more destructive than ever

Ditto.
Anyways, personally, I think that it's rather unlikely that extraterrestrial beings have visited us. Yes, there are many worlds out there and even if less that 0.01% of them were capable of harboring intelligent life, then there would be a considerable amount of alien beings out there, even if we're just counting our local galaxy. The problem is distance. The nearest extrasolar planet is 10 light years away. That may not seem like much, but keep in mind that Neptune is 4.16 light hours away and it took Voyager 2 roughly 12 years to get to Neptune. So, assuming that at that time, the aliens had the technology we have right now, it would take them millennia to get here. So, for aliens to get here and have it be practical, they'd have to have the technology to travel close to the speed of light, and for a civilization to survive long enough to develop such technology doesn't seem that likely. Especially when we look at the human race and see the times we've come close to anihilating ourselves. (Cuban missile crisis anyone?) And don't even get me started on natural disasters. And why would they come here? Why not some other planet on some other stellar system? Did they just stumble upon our solar system and think "Oh, cool. Let's see what's in there."? Because, remember, the solar system seems important to us but that's where we live. An alien that looks at our sun would probably think, "Yellow main sequence star. Meh." Unless they were on an epic E.T. search like some human scientists are. So, I just think that it's very unlikely that aliens would have visited our ancestors. I'm not saying it's impossibe. Just highly, highly improbable.

they came, they figured out we weren't worth helping, they left XD good thing they didn't decide to destroy us
