In films when two characters of the same sex have a meaningful friendship, people think they are gay or in a relationship sexually? Like, really, I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (Professor X and Magneto) were gay because of the new movie that came out today. It kind of pisses me off, especially when said characters aren't portrayed that way (or meant to be, for that matter) all because Magneto said that Xavier made an adorable lab rat (which was obviously sarcasm) or because the two cared for each others' well being as friends. It's as if good friendships automatically translate as sex these days, and it's kind of annoying as hell. /pointless rant
This isn't me complaining about gay pairings or gay people, but, I dunno. I guess I'm getting pissed because I love those two and their friendship very much, along with other characters of the same nature, and when people are like LOLGAY or something similar, it ruins the magic and they can't appreciate their relationship how the creator's intended. I mean, it's understandable in things where a character's orientation is implied or left open, but, it's not.
I don't know. Discuss cannon vs. non-cannon, what you prefer, or if there are specific pairings that bother you, ect.

I find it annoying and I beth the people in those non-cannon pairings feel the same about it, I should know. I feel like I'm in one.
-
It's between friends, enemies, sometimes random ass characters in the universe. It's like "well as long as they look good together" makes the romance exist, which is stupid. Period.

The perceptions and accusations on certain situations made by people never cease to amaze me. Although I've never seen the movie it seems quite irritating :/ .
However the argument of whether or not something is or isn't worth the controversy causes people to take an interest making it popular.
Some creators make charactors seem gay to boost their ratings. Folks love a good arguement ^_^

I almost universally ignore stuff like that. Like all the Harry Potter fanfics that pair Snape and Harry or Voldemort and Dumbledor. I get why people do it, but to me it's just pointless. Thanks to my experience in the fanfiction world, I've learned how to avoid seeing such parings. :P

i think people do this to jokingly satisfy there own desires..i dont think they necisarily believe there really gay for one another
-
Yeah they do that a lot with Final Fantasy VII *Cloud/Sephiroth* .... it kinda irks me >.>
-
It's kinda stupid. Probably similar to having a friend the opposite sex and hanging out with them all the time, and people going OMG THEYRE GOING OUT!!!!!!!11 utiehgithg - no. :l
Which I've mildly experienced before, it is pretty annoying.
-
I dont like these either. Taking a super awesome badass and his greatest rival and putting them together in such a way ruins it for me.
-
I also get irritated with people pairing Nightcrawler and Mistique. It's like, UH, THAT'S HIS MOM. And it's not really a joke when there's like art of it everywhere. It ruins the magic on a lot of the original stories / concepts. Ignorance is rampant. People should stick to cannon things unless it's left open.
-
I don't know, I don't mind some fan pairings that aren't canon. It's just the ones that are polar opposites, or situations like Mistique/Nightcrawler, that bother me.

X-men First class makes me want to punch somebody... can i just say that... i feel really nerdy for not liking it b/c of non-cannon stuff in the movie but it still bothers me...

That's fair enough. The Eragon movie damn near turned me into a serial killer. >:(

Honestly, it wasn't as bad to me because they still preserved that friendly rivalry that Magneto and Professor x had, but there were some things that did bother me. I just don't like all the shipping that's going on because of it. o.x
-
Cha. well i mean people often confuse friends with lovers... the same with rivals like Scott and Logan... that bothers me a lot... the logic just click ...
-
I agree for the most part though, but I say let the fans have their fun with the shipping, as long as it doesn't influence the producers into making it legit.... >.>
