would you like it if anthros actually existed thanks to furture genetic modifications. or mabe not
-
Wellll....
I would have to say meh.
Thinking realistically, they would probably look kinda retarded.
Then there's the problems like talking with a muzzle, hygiene.. all that.
If you think about it, real anthropomorphics would be a lot different from a lot of art people draw and maybe not for the better.
It would be interesting, though.
-
It would be interesting, but like Kyriin I know there'd be trouble with hygiene, talking, etc. and it'd probably take years to sort out. Another concern would be, who would fund it? How would it be beneficial to society? Genetic Modifications to complex beings such as animals or even humans would take years and possibly centuries to get right and It requires alot of money.
...Just being the Devil's Advocate 0:)
-
Yeah, then not to mention protesters with beliefs and all that.
It'll not only be a HUUUGE thing to pull off, there'd be a lot of controversy. Good and bad.
I think in all, it could end up getting to a point of 'too much' xD
-
i wasnt really thinking it was a good idea myself just curious to waht people thought
-
i would think it wouldnt be a good idea for the same reasons Kyriin has said.
-
--Okay, how about i take the other side, since everybody says meh.--
--Super solders. After all, animals have weapons and natural resistances people don't have. Claws, fur to survive in the cold. One must admit, if it leads to better and more effective killing, the government is easily persuaded. Just think of the atomic bomb.--

Uhh.. well the thing is life in general is trying to co-exist among other people and be able to work, with paw hands you wouldn't be able to do much of anything. Your life would be pretty debilitated without opposable thumbs and I think a muzzle would probably get in the way of work. A tail you would have to worry about sitting on all the time and then maybe diseases would affect you differently or for the worse, we haven't exactly focused medical attention for diseases on animals more than humans, let alone hybrids which don't exist as of yet. So many new problems that would be unsolved would pop up, then as Jasper said people wouldn't approve of this new trend in human genome manipulation and there would be new conflicts as well. All in all it sounds great for free time sort of activity, but if it isn't irreversible it would be bad for day to day life. Now if you were a were-animal that would be great because then you always go back to normal after your transformation is done with :P
-
I say we should just focus on "dream machines" to simulate you being an anthro. it would make it so much easier than actually developing gene technology, and there would be less social and moral issues XD
-
^ I like this idea too, with future technology it might actually be the most viable option too :P
-
exactly! it serves as a short-cut through barriers in technological development and it's a less messy process :D
-
to white wolfs statement, they wouldnt have to have paw hands...mabey like werewolf hands are..human like but just with claws and pads. those are tottaly functionable!
also, with all those extras, of course a muzzle and a tail would be awquard at first..but they would be trained and learn to work with them. mme i walk around my apartment with my tail on, and its become second nature to move my tail before i sit, or to tuck my tail to the side when i go to the restroom (so my tail doesnt dip in the toilet when i drop ma pants)
animals have alot of traits the military would benifit..natural night vision...the tracking abilities with smell..the hearing. the natural winter coat, the faster and stronger reflexes. if anyone here has seen the movie dog soldiers you get the idea of what im sayin. id also like to inform you that this transformation is ALREADY quite possible, though they would have to change your structure as your a fetus...so these "soldiers" would have to be geneticaly designed before birth. and we all know the complications with ethics code this would play.
but there is no doubt in my mind that the military would fund such a campaign if they thought they could get "the bigger stick"
-
^ If that is to be the case, It is quite possible that the US Military would fund it, but we can't even get past the abortion issue and people here still are sectional on cloning, let alone genetic modifications. Hopefully this future would have leaders that would be more open to this.

Wait till someone does that thing they did in AVATAR, that would be pretty cool :D

Yea, but instead of Nav'i (the huge blue dudes) It would be anthros and furrys could actually be their fursonas (after some training of course ;))
-
it seems that the Avatar technology is pretty impractical at this point or any point in the next thousand years :/
-
it seems that the Avatar technology is pretty impractical at this point or any point in the next thousand years :/
True, true. But It'd still be pretty awesome.
-
i still like my idea of a dream machine, besides letting us be anthros, there would be literally no limiting laws of physics to anything we did while using the machine!
-
So I'd be like a Matrix? But we'd be our Fursonas.
-
yeah kinda, plus the technology is much more practical because it would mostly consist of stimulating our brains directly. No messy genetic engineering and such
-
^That would work, and It'd have so many training applications
-
plus it might just decrease real-world problems if more people tried to solve them in a simulation first to see the most viable options!
-
You really wonder who would create such a thing though. :/
Or if it's even possible.
-
it's definitely possible, just needs nerve stimulation technology and a whole boatload of data capacity
-
Considering we can make chips that are as small as my fingernail and hold TERABYTES of information, we're not that far off from data capacity.
And scientists have worked on nerve stimulation technology to solve blindness
-
It will be quite a while before this kind of technology will be availible to the public for a reasonable price in our lifetime though.
-
i believe it will be available within my lifetime but the main point is, it's much easier to attain anthro-ness without actually doing it
-
But for now we have our imaginations

-
Nice, I love that episode. X3
Damn, talking hypothetically always makes me depressed. D:
-
gimme the box >:3 i wanna see how it works
-
What if anthros were aliens?
We wouldn't need any technology.
Maybe it's far fetched, but I'm always open to possibilities.
Personally, I would prefer to live in the world of anthros, rather than them living on Earth.
You know, with their cartoon-ish appearances and all.
-
of course you would be a stranger in a strange land in a world of anthros....you'd have to introduce yourself as an anthro (hairless) monkey to look cool (being human and all) in front of the rest of 'em
now if everyone was an anthro (which is probably what you meant but my mind went off on that last tangent) then it would be AWESOME
-
I actually meant the imaginary world I created for myself, when I said I'd rather live in the world of anthros.
And yes, everyone would be anthro.
Sorry for confusing you.
-
nope, it's ok. I just imagined myself trying to pass for an anthro in a world of anthros and it made me giggle XD
-
I would want it, but considering the pros to cons i think i'd just want a tail and earrs
-
tails and ears would be pawsom as long as i only have the wolf ears. but i would also want an increased sense of smell and speed
-
Hmmm... that would be interesting... Yes, yes that would be perfect. (provided that we did try to eat each other. :S )
-
wolf dog ears and tail for me...
who would try to eat each other?
-
*looks at a Cow* Oh, I don't think I would. Not at all. *brick*
-
If you think about it, some peoples fursonas that would not get along in real life, with the splicing that would occur, it wouldn't be impossible for some animal instincts would transfer over.
