It seems like you cannot walk around without hearing the word "F*g". Also you cannot turn on the television without hearing someone saying "oh thats gay..." I dont know if its where i live or what but its getting crazy. Why is the LGBT community hated so much? Its getting ridiculous at my school, ive debated starting a gay straight alliance but considering how anti gay my school is, it might not be a good idea.

I've lived my life -luckily- without it being a bad thing pretty much at all.
At least attitudes today are miles better then they were in the past :)
Some places and people are just more homophobic than others, it's the way things are.

ill admit to using the phrase "thats gay"
but i myself dont intend it to be hurtful, im pansexual myself..ive had girlfriends and boyfriends...i fight all the time for gay rights, i even draw gay pride art from time to time. but i think that the word gay has over the years gotten LOTS of definitions.
its like when you say gay it means homosexual...if i said, "hey your gay" im not telling you that your happy...im saying it in the definition that your homosexual.
so when i say "oh my gosh, that was gay" im saying gay in the definition of bad, sucks, terrible. and not in the definition of homosexual.
i can SEE where the argument lies, but i myself take no offense to it..so i see no offence in using it.
with the age of freedom and equality..comes ALL types looking for there peice of the equality pie. blacks got it..women got it...disabled people got it...religious groups got it (sorta?) and now homosexuals want it.
thing is, with each group..it was a looooong draaawn out fight. and it was never easy. even with all the advancing in our rights, people still slip through the cracks.
this comes into the right to marry and adopt..nobody wants to surender that right to us "lesser" people...thinking that we cant do it, or that were "strange" and shouldnt be put in charge of and raise a child with our wierdness..
its unfortunate..and in some states its worse than others, but all we can do is do out part and be tolerant of others. in ALL aspects.
and do your best, to enlighten others

In some states its perfectly legal to kick a homosexual out of your store or deny them service for teh simple fact that they are gay. I think about 20 of them. I think that is ridiculous.

Don't take this the wrong way but... that is complete ludicrous. I believe its a federal law stating a person can not be denied service/a job based on their age, sex, race, religion, and orientation (just marriage rights :P). Forgive me, I could be wrong, but I need proof before I considered that true >_>.
Also society today, as in our/my generation is a lot more open/tolerable then yester years. On the same note I think the bullies/anti gays have gotten a lot worse, so yea :/.

I may be wrong with the federal law, but yea :/, I still like to see something that says "your allowed to kick a gay out" before I believe it.

Anyway, yeah. I don't find it offensive when someone says "that's so gay". But yeah, homophobia is still pretty bad even to this day. Fortunately, it isn't that bad where I live :3

I use to be very homophobic. Wouldn't let anyone gay even touch me. It was weird though because a lot of gay people I knew liked me o.O
I've also been very closed minded. But joining the Furry community changed all of that. It's like, I started discovering myself over again. Later found out I was gay XD And I've talked and hung out with a lot of gay people. They're all very nice and smart. But I still do like I use to, saying "That's gay" and stuff. I don't see the harm in it. I don't do it to insult anyone or put them down, and being gay myself that would be hypocritical. Use to be me and my friends would joke about gay things but since I came out I'm the center of it. It's all good fun for us though and I don't mind.

Most straight people I know get more offended by gay things then gay people.... irony... (in terms of gay jokes and stuff)

i don't mind gay people (the nice ones). I dislike the ones you meet that try to make everyone else seem gay because they want to hide that they are gay (which the ones i have seen really fail at)
I don't like being called gay because it's a title you can't get rid of easily and people will treat you different because of it. Kind of like cooties FROM KINDERGARDEN
also, if somebody calls something inanimate gay, all i say back to them is, "So what you're saying is, [object] has affairs with [objects] of the same gender. [objects] don't have genders"

I have absolutely nothing against any homosexual. I have made several friends who are homosexual (both on the 'net and irl), and it doesn't irk me from talking to them at all. It's just a life choice, like being a fur, or a Catholic, or a Republican; I see no harm in it. Just so long as they don't press it on others who don't want it I say that nobody should be hating on someone for the reason of having such a belief.
And this is coming from a guy that is entirely straight. I support the rights of any (harmless) belief; and will endorse them in full. Discrimination is a disgusting truth that needs to become so much more of a rarity... Too bad the world is generally so cynical (*coughcoughendoftheworldcough*). People need to stop hating on things and dwelling on the bad and start enjoying the greatness that life holds.

being pansexual and not telling any one about it, not even my parents, except for furrys and my mate ( when i do find one) i havent had this problem where i was discriminated ageist, so i cant comment to much on this, but i do live in a city where the pride praied is, so iam guessing my city is more friendly then other towards non heterosexuals.

It'll be interesting to look back on this whole situation in the future, to see how much things have changed since now.
I wonder if society in the future will treat homophobic language, imagery, stereotypes, etc. the same way it treats those related to ethnicities today.
Also, I am getting very tired of that stupid "no homo" thing. It was mildly funny the first fifty thousand times, but now it's getting really old really fast.

I never found it funny, I thought it was stupid. Also it would never be an "ethnic" group, the only thing all gay people have in common is a an attraction to the same sex.

Sorry for any misconceptions; I didn't mean that gay people were an ethnicity, I was just curious as to how homophobia would be prevented in the future.

in the future it would probably be viewed as a tolerated (err..accepted) group in the way other ethnicities are. At least I think thats what coyote was sayin'
