Title: Furry community and YouTube
Post by: Ebesu on May 30, 2011, 10:19:25 PM
Hey there guys.  I'm just going to start this off right with the point.  There is a huge misconception on YouTube and the furry community.  But you already know this, yes.  YouTube is made up of most of the bad section of our furry fandom and most of the furries who make videos about themselves showing off furry pride are tended to be trolled. And they just don't know how to deal with that for some reason.  Furries are just simply a magnet for trolls, it doesn't matter if your level headed enough.

I made a rant demonstrating logic instead of attacking anybody.  I demonstrated facts very well and gave logic.  I even got the furry haters who have rational opinions but don't agree with the fandom to see my way so I made some progress.  But I still get an occasional comment from a troll, but I do know how to deal with them.  My rant and commentary defending the furry fandom also got falsely flagged for copyright infringement which I followed the guidelines of fair use so it shouldn't be a problem.  I do get annoyed at some people, really.

I do think a problem with the fandom on YouTube however is that some of the most respected YouTubers such as Slaphappygamer and BBC have done videos regarding the sonic fur fags out there such as Chris Chan and Shadvik.  Don't get me wrong, I respect BBC and I'm friends with Slaphappygamer (she actually likes furries :3) but I do feel what they done has stereotyped the furry community on YouTube to an extent.

Well that's basically it.  You can all tell me what you think about this and you can also give suggestions on how we can deal with this one.  Especially if your both a Sonic fan and a furry, people are probably going to take you the wrong way.

Oh yeah, being a ranter, this is probably going to be one of my favorite pages.  Don't take it the wrong way, I just like to ramble.  :P

Four words:
Don't.
Feed.
The.
Trolls.

I find most of the furs on Youtube tend to be pretty obnoxious which leads to a lot of trolling.
Ex of a response to troll: OMGGG I H8 YOU GUYS YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHIN ABOUT FURRIES SO STFU
The troll wins
Or you could simply not respond to the troll, even if you come up with a response that's logical then the troll still wins 'cause he/she is getting a response out of you.

Just don't feed the trolls, spread the word 'cause butthurt individuals like the ones on Youtube are making the rest of us troll magnets.  T_T

Alexei pretty much hit the nail on the head. Don't even give trolls the time of day. It's not worth your time, it's not worth your patience, it's not worth your sanity. The more you get frustrated (and more importantly, show them that you're frustrated by responding as such), the more they sit back in their chairs and giggle uncontrollably to themselves that they've got you so upset.

In other words: the best remedy to trolls is silence. It's called golden for more reasons than one. ;)

Yeah, I already understand the ground rules.  Don't feed the trolls and yadayadayada.  I am quite glad I did get a number of the furry haters to see my way though.  Even made some friends in the process ^^  And yeah that is basically the gist of my rant.  The topics I went over is what the misconception is and what a furry actually is, a psychological analysis on why SOME furries YIFF so people don't see it as disgusting or should focus on just furry porn (because IMO every type of fetish is actually kind of gross), and why the furries shouldn't even speak to the trolls.  I'm not that popular on YouTube yet but I hope I got to some people to understand the topic at least a little better.

And the occasional troll I got end up getting trolled by me.  Some people actually consider me a feeder troll.  I tend to just leave smart-a** comments in response and just watch and laugh to how they respond.  People seem to get quite a kick out of it.  Good times.   ^_^

http://www.youtube.com/user/TheLeetCasualGamer Just so you know most of the trolls came around the time I posted the rant which was about 2 weeks ago.  It, for the most part, calmed down.  So basically, fun's over.  I got rid of most of the comments that were left by trolls just to clear my comment section.  :P  But I didn't resort to blocking anybody, so I win.  ^_^

don't feed the trolls it the best way to deal with them. i got in to a really big flame war with a troll once who tried to connive me that he was right. he lost the war btw. i am one of the furrys that is on you tube ( mainly just watch slide shows with art and furry flash animations)  and yes i have been trolled on you tube ( got called the standered  insulate , " fur fag"   and " yiff in hell" as well as a few others that iam sure most if not all of us are a where of ) i use to tell the trolls off, then i used logic and facts non of those wroked because the logic trolls will use will loop , most just have 5 or 6 responces that they slightly change and use over and over again. so i started to ironre them and after a Wall i used the report spam option on you tube. so in short don't feed the trolls and report there tolling as spam they will get tried of trolling and move on its what trolls do. and the report spam button is the best thing any furry can do to deal with trolls if enough of us report spam then the trolls account will get band there for there will be one less troll.
