Gotta say, I loved this movie. I've heard everyone wtfing over some things or saying that it's not as good but I rather enjoyed it. If you keep up with the series, one reason you'll like it is because there's a lot of closure. Anyway! Discuss! I have to say, I've always been partial to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. My favorite character is and has always been Hector Barbossa and he doesn't disappoint in the fourth movie.
-
I've only seen the beginning and ends of this movie at work (and a few parts in the middle). I think it looks pretty promising with awesome music and beautiful cinematography. :D
-
I loved it, only one problem, though. (dont click if not seen movie)
how did Ponc de Leons ship get halfway on a cliff?
-
Watched it a few hours ago, and despite listening to my annoying girlfriend complain about the movie, I though it was decent. I probably won't pay money to see it again, but it was...alright I guess. LOL I make the movie sound awful but yeah, if you liked the other other movies then you'd probably like this one too...but the first movie is the best xD
-
I'm probably going to see this on Sunday, it's the only mentionable movie besides Fast Five in a long time for me anyways, I just hope it's not super packed, that's why I didn't see it before now x.x.

WELL
I just assumed that maybe the area was flooded at the time when he sailed since it was where there was a bunch of water to begin with and close to the sea as well. It showed the ocean when Jack was at the mouth of the cave and was talking to himself.
Also, don't look if you haven't seen it. My problem with it was...
The mermaid / preist relationship. I thought it was pretty random and just thrown in there to replace Will Turner and Elizabeth's sappy love story. I could have done without it, but then again, I'm not a big fan of sappy love stories. I liked love stories like Davey Jones's story and I like gritty pirate stories like Barbossa's story.
Do you guys think there's going to be a sequel? I honestly don't think one is necessary, but I feel like Disney will make one because they can make money off of it.
-
On the contrary, I think a sequel is entirely necessary! At World's End was such a disappointment to me that I almost didn't want to see On Stranger Tides. But with the way On Stranger Tides ended, I was cheering in my seat for a Pirates 5! I absolutely loved that ending, and my love and excitement for the franchise is now back to the same high that it was after Dead Man's Chest! Which still remains my favorite. Davy Jones was a fantastic villain. :)

good thing I don't have to pay to go see movies anymore, I shall be going to see it after I go to high school graduation (i'm not graduating, I'm playing in the band :P )

I was a true PotC 1 fan. I knew the script, I knew every scene and all the lines by heart. Anyone could point out one known line from the movie and I could point where it is, what happens in that scene, who's in it and every detail like props and clothing in that scene. I really, REALLY loved that movie.
I have seen PotC 1, 2 and 3 at the movies. And after I saw the second and third, I was disappointed and eventually gave up on the whole deal. I really did not enjoy those two. I will not even start expressing how much they disappointed me and why. That's why I'll not watch the forth unless it's free.
I stand by the well known and time and time again proved rule that the sequels always suck.

I very much agree.
Overall, it was okay. Some fun entertainment for a couple hours, and was enjoyable enough.
More detailed review which you may or may not want to read unless you've seen it:
Barbossa and Jack were both great, I loved seeing them again. I could totally see what Mortis meant about closure. They made the movie worth it, really.
The new characters, however... Angelica and the priest guy... Really could not care less about them. Angelica felt like very little more than a plot device, and the priest guy could have been eliminated entirely. I don't even mind sappy love stories usually... He was just so annoying and had a very flat personality.
I kinda hope they don't do another sequel, though the possibility is there. I hate when series are dragged out to their death.

Truth be told, my biggest problem with Pirates 4 was that it felt like an extended set up for Pirates 5. :P
-
I would have been happy without any sort of love story in the Pirates of the Caribbean :P

Yeah. That too. They probably will make another one.

Yeah. In this one. Personally I liked the one with Davey Jones and Calypso.

Milk it for what it's worth!

I'm afraid I'll be seeing every pirates movie that comes out...even if it's dragging the series to death...well I'm a geek for Pirates XD
-
Yeah they haven't screwed up the series as of yet to me, so I say more power to em' and keep it coming :P
-
Well, it's not as if they screw it up.. But really...
Barbossa has a ship and a crew, Jack has the pearl... Pretty much anyone who matters has what they want. Why add more stuff?
-
There are still new places the characters could go. I think there couple be some very interesting stories told that involve Jack admitting that he's a genuinely good man. They kind of set that up in On Stranger Tides. I'm sure there are other nautical/pirate legends they could use for fodder as well. More than half the fun of these films is the adventure of it all. :) That's why I can still give Pirates for a 7.5/10 when I still have a significant list of problems with it. :P
The key point for Pirates 5 would be to find a strong villain. Davy Jones was incredible, but Blackbeard was criminally underused.
-
i'm seeing it today eeeeep ^_^

You know, above all, my wish for Pirates 5 is that
we actually get to see Jack enjoying being the undisputed Captain of the Black Pearl. He spends all of Pirates 1 trying to get it back, all of Pirates 2 panicked about the Kraken, and all of Pirates 3 fighting Barbossa for control. Just for once, I'd like to see Jack enjoying the Pearl worry free.
-
just got back from seeing it, god was it awesome!!!! and no annoying Orlando Bloom! :D

Honestly...
The reason why I love Jack is because he never is the captain because people keep out-savying him. xD
It's what makes him such a good and comical character. I mean, not that I don't want to see him get what he wants, but I mean, I kind of think his venture for it's pretty funny.

Yeah, I hear you there. It's just that in Pirates 1, it's implied that he is a legendary, if wildly unorthodox, pirate. She even says he "sacked Nassau Port without ever firing a shot!" I wanna see more of that Jack Sparrow. :P
-
Ima go watch this in the weekend, I heard a lot of BS but I think, by looking at the trailer, that it's gonna be awesome
-
i thought it was brilliant
-
It's certainly head and shoulders about the mess that was At World's End. :/
