As of April 14, 2011, the website has been taken down. I couldn't be more happier to see the racist and discrimitive troll site destroyed.

it was always just a joke site, why is it down? I enjoyed a few articles on there, it helped me define the internet. I did find the furry article to be pretty insulting though

I'm actually torn on this, as I did get that it was a joke site, but sometimes jokes are too offensive to be told to the public. Like a few Jewish jokes I'm slightly ashamed to admit I know and laughed at. :P

my family is jewish and yes, the jew jokes kinda hurt :( the gay jokes too

Which is exactly my point. Even if you find them funny in private, they shouldn't really be broadcast to the public.

Yeah, I kind of liked that site, it was incredibly offensive towards a lot of things I liked but it had some pretty funny articles.
I just kept from searching things I liked and it was all good.

Basically, take Cracked.com, multiply it by 10, and you get Encyclopedia Dramatica. Cracked.Com was already mildly offensive IMO, but Encyclopedia Dramatica is a website that went too far. I'll bet its shut down because someone was so offended, they sued Encyclopedia Dramatica or something.

I've really never been to that site. I just always thought that it was just a Wiki version of Something Awful myself. :/

Taking Encyclopedia Dramatica seriously and getting offended over it says a lot more about you than about anyone who wrote for the site.

Meh, personally I don't think offensive should get away with being offensive just because "it's a joke." I mean what if someone went up to a black person and said "Hah! You're a (N Word). HAHAHAHA, just kidding!" Do you think that would go over well just because it was a joke?

Not at all. But legally, many offensive things are allowed to be said, even though there are limits in place for what constitutes as a real problem. Maybe that's where ED infringed.
I enjoy freedom of speech and the right to be off-color or distasteful if I so choose, personally, instead of being told what I can and can't express--or how--so that nobody's poor little feelings get hurt. It's a wonderful thing, even if not everyone is mature enough to appreciate it and just shrug off what they don't want to listen to.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna ***** about it. But I'm still a bit offended by it. Not because I personally am offended, but because a lot of my fellow furs are probably offended by it.
I'm not gonna write angry emails or baw about it on Facebook (Which reminds me, I still haven't told my friend I'm a furry) or anything like that. I'm just gonna bite my tongue for the most part while still mentioning it calmly to other furries.

i forced myself on a list of 'Known Furries" on there. But now, It's gone. Eh, whatevs. I enjoyed anti-trolling them.
