Im on the lazier side of fitness. I get enough of a workout at work. I gotta lift 6 pound chubs of meat, push them back and forth, sometimes hold them down while doing it, lift 40 pounds of frying oil twice a week, Im gonna relax in my spare time. Food, Ive cut back minorly. I still drink pop and unhealthy foods, but I dont scarf down junk food 24/7, too expensive.

I've gotten into my routine again of going mondays, wensdays and sundays.
I work on Biceps and triceps on monday, Core and legs on wensdays, and back, chest and shoulders on sundays.
And I work on cardio every second visit.

I drink protein shakes after each workout even though they taste like fermented hair and cat piss.
My diet actually isn't incredibly healthy but I'm trying to cut down on junk a bit.

I usually swim twice a week. I used to be a competitive swimmer, so I usually swim about a mile and a half. Works out the whole body. Also try and watch the food I eat to make sure is doesn't have TOO much garbage in it. Although thats hard living on a college campus :/

I'm very lazy. I always have been. I eat healthy and don't splurge on junk food, but I don't work out very often.

I guess though, my favorite exercise would be dance. :D

Last year I lost 44 pounds. Just eating what a nutricionist said to me. I am very satisfied because now I prefer not to eat so much meat, I feel better and I'm starting to do some sport. I hope not to be seduced by the dark force of the ice creams this summer!  :P

I'm lazy, but I'm losing weight. But it doesn't help that I put the wait back on immediately. :sweatdrop: eh, he he he. I try to eat healthy, but, old habits and all that. Im actually going to start working out a little bit each day. For now, I can only use the sitting-bike i have at the house. But I'll be on it while I play WoW, troll the forums, or draw. >.> I swear officer, I'll stay away from those nasty sites... such as newgrounds.

I usually run once a week, not a lot, but it gives me something to do. I never really tackled weights and getting ripped  :/ YET
my friends for the summer want to go 3 times a week to our local YMCA to get in shape. My bro has protein mix, and stuff to help, if he even lets me use them  >.>

Cardio no less than 3 times a week, trying to restrict caffeine and carbonated-water intake (replacing with juices instead).

I'm trying to lower caffeine too...and sugar. Its so hard not to drink Dr. Pepper, and its just so bad for you. Its just so delicious!

Well, I'm the type that's very lazy usually, but still stays fit :P

At home, usually, I am pretty lazy, and I eat averagely., not really more than I need.
I think the reason I stay pretty fit is because I walk alot when I'm going to- and from school... I walk about 20-30 minutes a day on average, some days more, some days less.. but that's my average anyhow.

However, I do kind of think I'm sliiightly underweight tbh...

We aren't fitness freaks or anything. Hubby and I eat what we want when we want and do a little running a few times a week (when he is on days off). I am naturally athletic and havent really ever had to exercise to stay in shape.

Hubby? He used to work out a lot when he was in the Marines. But now, like I said, we only run a few times a week. He says he gets all the exercise he needs at work (he's a derrick hand). throws 200 pound sacks of bar, and racks back 20 pound per foot pipe all day long. Couple that with helping the floor hands pull 300 pound slips and throwing 250 pound tongs, and he does pretty well.

He says he stays in shape by a constant diet of redmeat, dark beer and full bodied cigars.

I used to jog, or go on walks, and I used to do 50 push-ups spread throughout my day (Ten when I wake up, 20 while I wait for dinner to get done, etc.)

I am not in shape. I have stretch marks from weight gain for Gods sake. However, I am attempting to fix this by eating better and implementing an exercise regiment this summer, mostly jogging/running, maybe some crunches and push ups. We'll see what happens. >.>

To be honest, the best way to lose weight is wieght lifting combined with short bursts of cardio and a healthy diet :P It burns alot more calories than just running/jogging on its own and at the end you will have a nicely toned body :)

plus I would start sooner rather than later so you dont end up putting it off :P

:) Well I might not be the fittest of people, but I think I move around enough to burn off what I eat, and I try to at least have one well balanced meal a day which usually contains a small portion of meat, carbs., and veggies., I try not to eat too much. However my weakness for coffee and sugar treats and soda, along with my bad habit of eatting foods I'm allergic to (which involves most foods) I can only imagine how happy my doctors will be after they hand me my bill. And I don't usually drink plain water cuz it usually tastes funny to me. I can be sometimes lazy, but that usually depends on my mood, like a lot of things.... being female sucks. T_T
I'm also anemic due to a certain blood disorder and hypoglycemic so I can't even do heavy sports even if I wanted to... though I should join a gym but don't really have the time for it yet. But I guess being 5'2" at around 130lbs.  with an average build and low blood pressure isn't so bad, I could be in worse shape.

Thanks for the advise; I'm going to begin following it this week. :)

When you say short bursts of cardio, do you mean lift weights for X amount of time, go to the treadmill for X amount of time and then repeat?

True for the most part.

For the first ten to twenty minutes of any aerobic exercize you burn glucose. So if you go on a twenty minute run then do a few situps and pushups you are burning the sugar that you have taken in that day, or the day before.

But if you go lift for twenty or thirty minutes, then do your run your body has stopped burning glucose for fuel and has started burning fat.

Also the higher the body muscle ratio you have, the higher your metabolism. Simply maintaining muscle (IE normal cell division and what not throughout the day) burns more energy than maintaining fat.

It also helps to do your workouts in the morning and a light workout in the afternoon. However, you will be more tired for the first few weeks that you do this than if you do it the traditional way.

I'd focus on weight lifting firstly. just to lose a bit of weight. Take it small at first. you'll wanna start off with a few small exercises to begin with. like maybe a few squats and reverse crunches (about 8-12 is best) and then work on weight lifting. try and get it so you can only get to about 8-12 reps. Do three sets for each exercise (I'll PM you some good exercises if you want) and then go from there.

As for the short bursts of cardio, for me that is 2 minutes of jogging, 1 and a half sprinting, back to 2 jogging, then sprint for two.
Maybe start at a bit of a lower level?

Good things to eat also is brown stuff, brown rice, pasta, bread stuff like that :P Fruit and veg also :P

^ also, what craxis said.

i get a workout at work...lifting between 1kg-5kg bags of lawn seed every 10 seconds...then sometimes i'll get called to do a "Hand bomb" where me and one other person empty a 53'' trailer of 50lb (25kg) bags of seed....1100 of them..and it's constant lifting  a bag every 15 seconds roughly..stopping for 45 seconds or so when a skid is full and needs to be taken away by a forklift/tow motor

and I bike EVERYWHERE...I do trail riding and such....and I got a high end bike to do so on....(cost me $1,200 roughly to build) so much fun

If you could PM me some exercises to get started, that'd be great!  :D
Does this need to be implimented on a strict day to day regimine, or can it be modified for weekends?
Also, I thank you and craxis for the excellent advice. :)

That is gonna depend on which mindset you subscribe to. Some folks believe that you should never skip a day. Others, myself included, believe that you need downtime. But don't take too much downtime or it is hard to get back into.

If you are trying to tone your body, you don't have to take a break. If. You are trying to build, you have to take a break. This is because when you work out (if your doing it right) you more or less rip your muscle cells and they have to heal, which usually takes a day, when they "grow" back the will be bigger, and then you rinse and repeat.

I eat what ever I want, but I don't just indulge in food, I also tend not to eat crappy food a lot. I eat when I am hungry, not when I am "suppose to". I also drink only water or tea here and there. My biggest weaknesses are cookies, Ill indulge in those like there is not tommorow, there won't be if you interfere with my cookies >.>.

I work out basically every day, I do push ups and curls 3x, then I do sit ups with a workout ball (its my moms, idc its a work out). And some arm things that work my lower arms. I also want to stat running a mile, I ran a mile in half bare footed, bad mistake, so I thought I do it easy and just a mile.

Also another note, I'm not trying to get big, I acctualy wanted to lose wight, when I started my wight was like 112 I wanted to go down more, so I thought I try and lose fat. All I did was put on wight -_- I put on almost. Twenty pounds fml.

another note, I'm quite good when it comes to the huamn body (understanding it), along with food wise, so if any one wanted to ask a question, or need help with a diet plan ect, ill be happy to help.

You are not entirely correct. Individual muscle groups need breaks, but you do not have to take a day off from working out when building mass. Just rotate what you work on each day. General consensus is 48 to 72 hours rest for the major muscle groups when trying to build mass. When I was talking about taking a break I was referring to a day where you do not exercise to keep yourself from getting burnt out. And yes you should rest them even when toning or trying to cut up. You are still working and tearing the muscle fibers, and it still takes time for them to heal properly.

Yes, technically you don't have to. When your on a diet you also don't have to stick to it, that's why when someone give you advice there aren't going to give the technical answers. Absolutes are best in this situation.

Sorry if I seemed harsh. I tend to be gruff when I don't mean to.

Saying someone is wrong on a topic like this is kind of like saying someone is wrong when they say they like abstract art.

I do believe that there are better ways to go about getting into shape and staying in shape, and I believe that some techniques are better than others. But everyone's body is different, and as such how they work their body is going to be different.

im handicaped so i cant excersize..so staying fit is HARD

so my entire fitness has to be diet based, i fill the majority of my meals with rice. if i have the munchies i eat raw broccoli with a lil ranch and i enjoy poached egg on toast for breakfast and i drink lots inbetween

I try to run everyday for at least 2-3 miles alongside my doggies. If I don't, I tend to feel down in the dumps.

I can't seem to motivate myself long enough to stick to weightlifting, perhaps I need a partner?

Holy crap someone who is 112 wants to loose weight? 0_0 I've seen it all now.

I certainly splurge on junk food all the time. But during meals I appreciate healthy add ons like milks, meats, veggies. Sometimes I even prefer healthy desserts and snacks like fruit and bread. I simply try to keep my diet balanced. I don't give a flying monkey about calories or specifics, but if I eat something fatty for a meal, I make sure to balance it later and the next day with healthy meals. I rarely drink sodas, because I actually prefer 2% milk and juices! Fat free stuff? Not happening. I'll lower intake, go down to 2% milk, eat only organic things, but fat free? I'd rather choke on my sour cream spoon and die than eat those abominations ruining the joy of food. XD

As for excercise....I'm....um....a shrimp. ......I can't lift the bar when benchpressing nor make a lap around the school. I'm talking major shrimp....but I still like to excercise. I take my dog on three mile walks every other day plus all the walking I do at school. I like to stretch and do sit ups. I really like to, when I have the road open to me, just go running for awhile even though it exashts me. I love tennis, badmitton and floor hockey.

I'm a healthy weight and have a good figure. So I'm happy not changing my routine for now. XD

I'm also under the "tall, scrawny" build. I've only ever worked out on a regular basis once in my life. From age 15 to 16, for the most part, I visited the local gym a few times a week, and while I didn't really have any clue about how to work out efficiently, I was probably in the best shape of my life at that point. I basically just ran on the treadmill for 10-15 minutes (once I'd worked up enough stamina to do so, of course), then worked my biceps and triceps, followed by my legs, then back to arms and shoulders, and back to legs if I wasn't completely worn out by that point.

As for my current "workout" schedule, it's essentially non-existent. I do a 3-minute ab or chest routine I saw on Youtube every now and again when I remember to (I'm trying to get into the habit of doing the two workouts alternatively each night) and I've seen some pretty decent results just from that. But then again, I'm skinny as hell and my metabolism is practically off the charts (much to my friends' irritation), so I know that's not gonna do anything for most people. Lol. I don't eat healthy at all, really. Most of my meals these days consist of pizza or burgers from the cafeteria at college, though I try to mix it up and toss in a salad when I can or some pasta or chicken when it's available, but my good health is hardly the effect of my dietary habits. I'm just incredibly blessed, physically. When my metabolism goes, I don't know what's gonna happen to me. XD
