Title: Trials of the Sphinx ((Riddles & Puzzles))
Post by: tangletail on March 25, 2011, 08:02:07 PM
Ah hello! Welcome! Come in my friend!
Step out, if you pout! But stay! I insist!

They say I am a furry bird, not quite a bat; they have called me the riddling cat! What am I? Have you guessed Sphinx? If so you are correct, and are ready for my test!.

The rules are simple. Answer the riddle. Live a little, and come back to see if you have solved the Sphinx's challenge! There is no blight if you are wrong, and if you are right, there are no rewards.

Do you accept my trivial quest?

I am dead, yet alive to some sorts;
Creeping slowly, and common to ports;
Unknown culprit, and slayer of air;
Swimming in water, and trampled by mare;
Very pretty, and gritty I be;
So what is the answer that you see?

What ever it could be, it is not me!

Could it have anything to do with...

TORPEDOES?!?

(Or... SUBMARINES?!?)

Is it anything like a codfish?
Or any fish, for that matter?

It's sand, isn't it?

That is correct my friend! Moving onto the next test!

An elliptical path, with a single red orb in its center;
Crossing its middle, is a single pillar lying on its side.
Around the circle are only three pillars standing straight, and a portion of a still standing pillar which could be the one on its side.
A voice sounded about. You could hear it as if someone was whispering in your ear
"the tIme Is here. I XercIlIs, has saId my fInal words... thIs puzzle sent me to my doom, but I have I wIsh I had It soon. VVVVella... the answer you seek is relevent to nineties s four times around."
