It is the year 2217.The human race has reached over 12 billion. Earth is at war for its last remaining resources plutonium, oil, food( what little of it is left) and clean drinking water. nations that have once been allayed are now at war. The UN is no longer, neutral Switzerland has gone to war for the first time. large parts of the earth are an uninhabitable do to the high radiation levels. global warming has meleted the north and south pole creating large desserts. the threat of radioactive rain and fallout as well as viral attacks are one of the biggest fears. human cannibalism is an epidemic. huge underground shelters where built know as vaults capable of supporting life for year.
As a solder you must fight to obtain Earths resources.

Juneau cautiously walks down the dim-lit street. The street lights had mostly blown out and the sky was filled with black clouds hiding the sun. She carries her Olympia shotgun close to her chest as she quietly walks down the pitch plack road. She thought she heard the rustle of something and swiftly points her shotgun in the direction of the noise. She draws in deep hasty breaths and waits for a few moments. It's...it's nothing... she tried to reassure herself. With most of the food resources gone, most people have gone mad with hunger-and after years of having deadly fumes emmited in Eaths atmosphere, a new chemical formed which, if inhaled, does not kill you but makes you permanentely insane. Luckily, Juneau had found a gas mask in a deserted bomb shelter she had found and was protected from the deadly fumes. She proceeds down the black street, warily looking back and forth on either side of the street. Suddenly, something leaps out from the shadows and lets out a horrible screech. Juneau stumbles back and hastily aims her Olympia. She fires and the thing drops dead. She cautiously walks up to the corpse and kicks it's side. Dead. It was one of them. The people who have gone insane. Often times the survivors who haven't quite gone insane yet are killed by those who are insane. Juneau was looking for a place to camp out for the night. It wasn't safe to sleep in the streets. She had to find some place to crash before night fall.
She walks farther down the street and occasionally sees eerie, yellow eyes staring at her from the sides of the streets. They were people who haven't gone crazy, yet have given up on their lives. Juneau sees how they look at her, begging for help, begging for her to take them with her, for them to be anywhere else but their apocolyptic world.
She shovs a body out from the middle of the road. Occasionally Juneau sees other soldiers such as her self, but she scarcely sees many normal people, for most are at war. She suddenly hears something.
"Hello!" someone yells.
Juneau freezez.
"Oh God, finally, someone whos not nuts!"
She points her Olympia at the voice.
"Woah, woah, woah, put the gun down, chica. I'm not crazy and I'm not going to rob you." He points his M14 at Juneau.
"Fine" she sais and they both put the guns down.
She notices the stranger is also wearing a gas mask.
"Who are you?" Juneau asks.

Vulpa were horrible creatures before the war. With their taste for living flesh already prevalent and their disrespect for the dead many creatures shunned them. They were violent animals, killing anything that stood in their way and taking what they wanted before moving on. With bottom jaws that were split at the middle and opened like mandibles to reveal a secondary extendable mouth like some kind of alien. At first glance they looked like any other fox fur but the rows upon rows of shark like teeth and the German accents were normally a dead give away. In a street that resembled war torn Europe seven of them were behind a large piece of rubble that had fallen out into the street. Dressed in 1940s German black military uniforms and holding KAR98s they waited for a break in the firing as they held their position against a small band of armed individuals. "I'm falling back for sharp shooting. Cover me." One said before tucking his rifle close and running further back at a crouch. Six Vulpa leaned over their firing berm and unleashed a hail of bullets using their rifles and MP40s. Tier ran back to a blasted out building and took the broken stares two at a time to reach the second floor. Much of the walls and roof of the building was gone but he was not concerned with the ascetic value of the property. The point of his concern was that he could now see directly into the firing position of the resistance fighters. Crouching low behind a broken wall he took his rifle and rested his cheek on the butt stock as he took careful aim. The rifle bucked slightly with recoil and Tier worked the bold action to chamber another round. He selected another target and fired again and again. The fighters were beginning to panic as they soon found out a sharpshooter was thinning their ranks and aimed their weapons up at the buildings to initiate a responce. The one they received was not the one they wanted. Using short controlled bursts four Vulpa toting MP40s charged forward supported by two using their rifles back at the rubble and Tier in the building. They were upon them like a nightmare. The fighters didn't stand a chance as the Vulpa rushed up and mowed them down with the sub machineguns and stood grinning over their still twitching bodies.
"Come on! We've secured this area!" One shouted back to the group and they all gathered over to the corpses. "That one looks nice." "I dunno, I've always favored heavier ones." They said as they gathered around the corpses and began to feed. Ripping and tearing flesh with their knives and teeth the Vulpa feasted upon the dead enjoying their kill and conversing over topics of the day. "So when do you think we will link back up with the main battle group?" "Dunno." Another said around a mouthfull of raw flesh. "But one thing's for certain,if they've already found Avalon Im'ma be pissed!" Avalon was the one place Vulpa spoke of that was untouched by the war. Resources were plentiful and everything one ever needed was at their disposal. Many Vulpa believed such a place existed and all of them quested to find this fantastical place though some were not too certain. Tier dropped the arm he had been chewing on and stood up with a sigh. "Hey, Tier... what's wrong dude?" "Nothing."Tier said flatly. The Vulpa who had spoken o him started to say something else but one sitting across from him raised a hand and shook his head. It wasn't worth persuing. Tier didn't believe in Avalon. He didn't believe that there was anything beautiful left in the world. Just killing and survival. "You all are nearly at the end of the city. The last few patroles I've helped through here said they were heading East to try to find Avalon. You can try the same. I'm staying here." He turned and nodded to them. "Someone has to stay behind to help the others through." He then bowed to them and walked away. One Vulpa was about to protest when another hushed him. "He's doing an honerable thing, he has chosen to stay behind to aid others. Let us hope his spirit finds the peace that he has aided us in being one step closer to find."
In truth Tier didn't care anymore. He didn't care about the Vulpa, he didn't care about the other creatures, he just didn't care anymore. No one and nothing had given him a reason, a real reason to carry on believing anymore. He walked the street noteing the skittering sounds of creatures that had seen them pass and were now hiding from him least he turn his wrath upon them. Tier sighed. He was just tired. Voices from up ahead drew his attention and piqued his intrest. He began walking toward their direction to see who... or what they belonged to. There were all kinds of creatures what crawled out of their holes and dark places of hiding. One could never be too careful.

Hearing gun fire,Shade runs down the deserted roads, passing by main store, some with broken windows other with there doors removed. looking around for something to use as well as his p-90,Shade sees a sledge hammer in the broken window of a hard where store. knowing that this could be a trap set by one of them he decides to approach it with caution. seeing a trap activated by a trip wire, he steps over the wire looking up to the street light he sees a rifle, aimed at his head. He steeps be hind it and climes the pole. reaching the top of the rusted and blood smeared pole Hunter takes the rifle off the pole. After getting back down to the ground Shade exams the gun, he determines that its not a rifle at all but a insinuator, a gun that doesn't use bulits but plasma. opening the guns chamber he sees its out of ammo. " grate, all that work for nothing. ill hold on to this it might be of some use to me or to my pack ". holding on to it Shade contuses to the store. He shines his flash light in to the dark store, he sees something,Shade reaches for his p-90 and gets ready to fire. seeing how it did not move he gets closer to it. " one of them, this ones dead and its holding the sludge hammer." He reaches for the sludge hammer, picks it up and ties it to his back.
leaving the store Shade pass by a dead them, bends down to touch it. " still warm" He thinks to him self " some one has been here, could be a foe better be carefuller ". along his way he sees a cloud of yellow gas. " great a gas attack". getting out his gas mask he quickly puts it on and waits for the cloud to pass. getting closer to his camp he sees some one there, raising his p-90 to the unknown fur he says. " raise your shot gun to the air barile pointed up. slowly turn around. what are you doing here? and what do you want with my pack? are your friend or foe? answer quickly it will be night fall soon. and you don't want to be out when them are, if your friend then you may stay with us. but if your foe i suggest you leave. these bullets are to rare to waste on you... we will let them take care of you for us if your foe "

max ran down an abandoned street, well he hoped it was abandoned.... he quickly ran into a tall building through it's back door and heard gun shots from up stairs and hid. shortly after he looked out and saw a tall fox like creature leaving the building. "that was to close, i hope it doesn't come back." he ran up stairs and hid, he watched the creatures feast below through his binoculars untill one of them left. he moved into the next building and continued watching the creature, his rifle at the ready if anything happened. which he hoped it wouldn't.
-
He paused when he drew near and heard the word "Shotgun" and waited behind the broken parapet to see what would happen. Nine times out of ten confrontations dealing with weapons tended to turn out bloody in this day and age. Patience He told himself in his mind. He would wait to see who the "winner" was out of this little incident and make a decision from there wether to attack or to give what aid he could. Tier occupied his time for the moment being checking around and making sure nothing was trying to sneak up on him. What a laugh it would have been had he allowed a situation where the sniper was the one who was gunned down.
-
max watched as the creature stoped and watched something, he shifted the scope and watched at a small group of his allies stood face to face with one of the opposing groups he couldn't recignise. seconds later all hell broke loose as automatic fire moad down his allies. the highway thugs started searching the bodys and the local area for more things to shoot. max grabbed a spare clipp and got ready, he knew they would find the fox and that the fox would be overly out nombered and out gunned.....if only he had known it wasn't a fox.....
-
"ShiBe." Tier muttered crouching low upon hearing the staccato of automatics fire. He would have to check out these two squabbling creatures later. For now he had other things to do. Thugs, Raiders, Gang members, they went by several names but they were all the same. Scum. Tier eased his rifle forward and shifted his MP40 to where he could begin spraying lead when they would get too close. He zeroed in on a target and simply aimed center of mass. Nothing too fancy, a mundane kill shot was a lot better than a fancy miss. He squeezed the trigger and the 7.92 round tore through the thug ripping a gaping hole in it's chest. Tier smiled with satisfaction as he worked the bolt action and chambered another round and selected another target. The rifle bucked again and another thug went down before the rest of the group dove for cover and began shooting all around him trying to cause him to make a mistake. Only a small fraction of thugs had any previous weapons training. Most thought you just point and pull the trigger. Tier waited for the gunfire to slacken and eased back up to pick another off who had poked his head up to see if he was still there. No sooner than the corpse had hit the ground the bullets started flying again. Tier set his rifle to the side. He knew what was going on. Fire seemed to be directed more to his left which meant that they were moving to his right. Some of the thugs were creeping towards him shooting and walking hoping to overtake him. Tier readied his MP 40 and scooted as far into the rubble as he could to lessen his field of fire. He wanted the maximum effectiveness he could pull from the 9mm rounds and opened up the stock to use as a brace and to better aim the weapon. He thought there was only five or so thugs left but it really mattered not. He'd figure out later when he was policing the corpses for ammunition and supplies.
-
as soon as the lead started flying max opened up, hoping to save the fox. he worked the bolt action as fast as he could, his hand almost bluring each time he reloaded the old rifle. at one point he saw what he thought was the fox feloading with an enimy about to get to him. the last bullet in the clip took out the thugs eye and droped him at the corner.
once the fight was over he quickly ran down to check on the fox. he ran into the street, springfeild across his back and a BAR in his hands. "hay, you ok over there? i saw you take on those thugs and thought you might need some help." he said walking up behind the fox like creature.
-
Telling his "pack" members to tie her up and take her to our hide out, Shade left to go investigate the gun fire near by. " iam going to check what that gun fire was" he said as he ran off. Getting closer to of the furs he knew to be allies, he said " need some help with them? ". taking off his sledge hammer putting his p-90 back on his back Shade, stood be side his allies and smiles saying " The names Shade, how about you? ".
-
Tier heard the steady crack of a rifle and wondered if this was more Vulpine stragglers. "Their should not be any more Vulpa... I think that was the last patrole in this area...." Tier muttered confused. A pare of the creatures rounded the rubble to him and he let them have it with his MP 40. The weapon jammed in mid stride but both creatures went down. This confused Tier even more as he knew he had only hit one of them, the other he soon saw had a good sized hole in it's head from a rifle. He stood there for a moment to see this guardian angel of death and watched as he approached. The sniper was lean and fit, just as any good sharpshooter should be built, not looking like a holocaust victim like some of the wasteland trash. Tier nodded and bowed to Max. "I appreciate the assistance. I was planning on wandering around shooting thugs until someone finally got off a lucky shot but if there's anything useful I can do before I die I'm all ears." He turned suddenly upon hearing Shade approach and readied himself for another fight but lowered his weapon when the wolf appeared somewhat friendly. "Tier, of the 545th Antikorper. Well, what's left of it anyway." He added bitterly. Tier did the best he could to keep his mandibles together when he spoke as to not alarm his potential new allies. He already had a few old scars from altercations where someone who could have been a comrad in arms mistook him for a monster or something. Tier sniffed and looked to the corpses and excused himself to began looting them of ammunition and any medical supplies or drugs he could find. His pickings were pitifully slim as it seemed they spent most of their ammo during the initial ambush and the assault on Tier but he was able to gather some rounds for his rifle, SMG, and pistol none the less.
-
As shade looks at Tier he says " Are you hurt ? and do if you want to join us , we have a healing pod in our hide out. as well as ammo, food and a water purifier." something shines near one of the dead thugs, shade goes over to investigate it gasping he says " A plasma cell, if our teck is right then this can power our hide out for months befor we can we need a new one." turning to Tier shade asks, " If you happen to come across these we can use them, there rare but you can find them in energy guns." As night fall begins. god offal sound are heard in the distance. " we better head back, be for them come. "

"names max, i'm the one who was in the house over there. up close theres soethng off about you, you don't look like a full blood, what spices are you?" max asked walking over then past tier and over to the other dead foxes in the street. he laid down his BAR and pulled out a small knife before opening a secret pocket on each of his hallen comerads. he pulled out a letter from ach of them and put them all in an identical pocket on his thigh, where these five joined about ten others. "letters home, whe wright when we can...not that many of us really have anyone to right to.." he slowly turned to the wolf, his one time enemy "and i think i might take you up on that offer, i don't feel like sleeping in a long forgoten panic room like i have the last few nights. what did you say your name was?" (if you havn't guessed i'm a fox this time.)
-
Tier blinked slowly and watched Shade retrieve the plasma cell. "Better than sleeping under a rock, no, I'm not hurt." He closed his eyes a moment and reopened them. "Ammunition would be nice. Some since of security but I probably shouldn't stay long. Trouble has a habit of following me." He said with a melancholy tone. There was something about his eyes... something off. Like he was deeply disturbed about something or depressed. He looked to Max and stared at him blankly. "I am a Vulpa. One of the alien or demon races, whichever you want to call it. Flesh eaters." He concluded with the generalized phrase most wastelanders had labeled them as. "And before anyone asks, no. I'm not going with the rest of my kind off on some fools errand, looking for some place that isn't even there. I don't follow some blind belief that there's anything nice in this world anymore. Herr I accept your offer on quarters." He said turning to Shade and nodding respectfully and shouldering his rifle. With the appearance of this stranger and his well armed accomplices Tier had little worry on an attack, though he had already planned out how he was going to show his naked if this turned out to be a doublecross.

Koda was hiding in a building he typically slept in at night. The place was rather damaged but loaded with well hidden rations and weapons. It was an old, decrepit, factory that made cardboard and steel boxes. Koda had created the perfect hiding place, with machines and boxes placed in huge piles that created a sort of maze.
He kept his revolver close to him as he heard sound from outside, and ducked into the farthest corner of his box paradise. If anyome were to come in he would bust out shooting and be sure to kill them. Just in case his revolver wasn't enough, he pulled out a couple flash grenades from under a box. Just in case. All this time hiding and fighting had really damaged him, and he yhad to move quick as his supplies were dwindling.

(my character is a very fluffy white squirrel/white pomeranian mix with big blue eyes, can't get more fluffy than that. thought I'd mention since I hardly mention what she looks like)
Moon was only three when she was kidnapped, when her real name was taken away, replaced by the tag Moonchild. An utter miracle in the government laboratory where she was held captive, she was their first and only successful attempt at self-sustaining life, invincibility, invulnerability. She was also their only success with power-granting biotics, and became the holder of an air bending gift that allowed her to fly--- not that she ever got the chance. Rival labs fought over who got to have her, and who got to hold on to the formulas and procedures that made her what she was. In all this fighting, the records of how her gifts came to be were burned as well as deleted from all files by a frightened and frustrated scientist. He would later be executed for this crime.
For three years, poor Moon endured daily, painful experiments, testing, and outright abuse, at first to grant her power, then to try and find out what created them. She was trained slowly in the art of being a soldier, as even a child with such useful abilities could perform miracles out in the field. The year the little squirrel hybrid turned six, there was an attack on the lab where she was held by a rouge criminal troop and she was given the chance to escape, which she gladly took.
Now, about a month later, the six year old is all alone. She travels as best she can from place to place, stealing food, stealing treasures to sustain herself, and making shelter where she can find it without being scared to death by all the fighting and aliens and other terrors stalking the land. She tries not to be seen and avoids talking to strangers, because she knows from experiences two weeks back that the government is still looking for her, and won't stop till they capture her and bring her back to a proper laboratory "where she belongs." Sadly, she awknoledges that she must do anything she can to avoid getting caught, even if it means the horrific life of being a child on her own.
****
Moon shuddered as she thought back to what she had just seen, all those images refusing to cease flashing in her head--- the blood, all that blood, it was so scary ---images of what the Vulpa alien thugs had done to the poor people. A sheep doll was clutched close to her chest by shaking hands, a doll she had found lying in an abandoned house. She was hiding behind the closest building to Shade and the others as she could without being seen.
Pain-stakingly, the little child took a deep breath and quickly dropped into stalking position. She was ready to follow these strangers to food, as she could find none here. Her fear of them was slightly quenched by the fact the alien in the group seemed friendly, not the kind of guy to try and eat her if he caught her stalking them for food theivery. At least she hoped this as she took a few sneaky steps out from behind the rickety boarded structure and prepared to follow them....

looking at Max , Shade says " the names Shade, i don't want to hurt you iam friendly ". walking over, shade bends down to sit near Max. " letters home? any of these your?". He says. looking up in to the sky shade notices that the sun is starting to set. " come with us, we have more friends, and almost every thing you will need back in our hide out." Getting up shade looks to Tier with a frown on his face shade says " what sort of trouble? iam sure its nothing that some of us cant handle." passing by an abandoned factory Shade stops. " There might be food and other supplies in there, we should be care full never know what could be in there." leading the way Shade turns to Max and Tier getting out his sludge hammer shade says " a maze ? best to stay close to each other." Wide eyed shade sniffs the air " i smell something .... it dosen't smell like them ; do you smell it? best to be care full." Shade stats to enter the maze, looking out as he enters, he says " we might have to stay here to night, it will be night fall by the time we get back out..."
-
Moon followed as well to the factory, only she tried to be as quiet and shadow-hiding as possible, staying a few yards back from the danger zone...so there would be food, and shelter, inside there. She could tell that these were probably not dangerous soldiers but she was still far too terrified to reveal herself and ask for help, so rather considered following the last of them inside, unnoticed.
-
Koda steadied the revolver in his paws, shaking nervously as he caught a whiff of the scent of the intruders.
'damn' he thought 'they're here for me I bet. I gotta run...or kill them..i din't wanna kill them...' he thought, as he snuck underneath a box, barely making a sound. 'i'll just hide here until they leave' he thought, shaking in fear.
-
"no...none of these are mine. their just the ones i've colected to send off when i get the chance. everyone of these was a friend of mine....and i fear i'm going to run out of friends before i run out of letters to send." he followed hade into the building, feeling oddly comfortable next to the vulpa. "i've heard stories about your kind, not much nice...but if i kill you now it means i waisted rounds helping you eirlier." he joked unsure if tier got that it was a joke and not serious. he looked around and swallowed hard. "someone set this up, hope it wasn't for ambushing strangers. or if it is that nobodys home..."

As Wolf walked through the streets of a town, he could see a human "freaking out". When the human spotted Wolf, he ran to him with a foamming mouth. He kept saying, "Food! Food!" Wolf took out his sword and tried to intiminate the human, but the anger and hunger made the human immune to it. With Wolf's guard down, the human tackled him. With his large, dirty nails, the human scratched him over and over. Wolf was able to push him off and get a good distance away from him. Once the human charged at him, his sword sliced him. He was now dead
" Wow..." Wolf growled, " What happened to everyone? I never knew that society would be this.... horrifying"
Then, a white furred wolf ran to him and gave him a bunch of supplies randomly. Once she did that, she collasped on the ground. She gave him weapons, food and freash water, which attracted other humans around him. He quickly placed all the supplies in his backpack and ran to a shelter.
"Dang..." Wolf growled, "I wish this world was more safe... But the work of humans tore the world apart from eachother. The radiation, pollution and.... everything else... Worst part of it is war... They are even going against animals... But, why us?"
Then a human rips open the door and he attacked Wolf.
"Get... off .... of... me..." He said, lossing his strength.
"Never! I must feed!" The human said.
"You... wont feast on... me!"
Wolf used his sword and sliced the head off of another.
He continuelt sat there in that one space, waiting for Icy, his companion.

Tier shook his head to Shade. "Just trouble." A Vulpa's responce to anything that stood in their way was to destroy it. If someone had something they wanted, they killed them. There was never any middle ground to them. Just the cold and remorseless killing of others. Tier however seemed like some broken toy soldier. He looked at Max and spoke, still hiding the movements of his mandibles s best he could to make himself seem as normal as he could. "And if you killed me now you could have a Kar 98 rifle, an MP 40, a Walther P38, a fighting knife and a machete. And close to a hundred and something odd pounds flesh that could be stripped from bone." He said turning his gaze forward obliviously missing the joke. He paused when Shade mentioned something about a sent on the air and began sniffing. Years of snorting CS powder mixed with gunpowder and a small measure of cocaine had nearly ruined his since of smell but it was still there. Vulpa on the front lines took drugs and various chems to keep them alert and drive them to the point of a vicious insanity in battle. Tier preferred the above mentioned Redblade, but many others liked meth, straight coke, or some other form of chem cocktail. He shook his head as he could smell nothing. "I'm going to walk out as bait. If something attacks, shoot to kill." Walking away from the group Tier strode unarmed to appear as nonthreatening as possable and searched for their follower. A tag, no matter how much it seemed harmless could turn out to be lifethreatening. An enemy knowing of a hidden fortified position, was a nightmare. What better weapon does one need other than accurate and full information of a target's camp? Tier stopped at a distance from the group where a bullet could easily find him yet he could still hopefully make it to safety if they were not shooting directly at him. "Hello? Is anyone there?" He asked out to the nothingness of the wastland hoping their follower would show themselves but not holding to faith.
-
Moon whimpered in fear but did not dare reveal her position...what if they were more bad people from the government? what if they ate little girls, or shot at them until they went away? Shaking, yet barely holding on to her cloth doll she stayed where she was and hoped they would give it up and retreat to their night's stay so she could follow the way she always did with strangers.
-
Tier looked around for a little while longer. It wasn't that he could see or smell or even hear anyone there. The only things that assaulted his senses were dust, wind, and the bleakness of a blasted out land. He could feel that someone was out there though. He had the distinct feeling that he was being watched and that they were being followed... of course this could also be attributed to his slight paranoia. Tier sighed. If he could not draw their follower out like this he had one other thing he would try before heading back to the group. He unslung his rifle and laid it on the ground bending at the knee. Next came his SMG then his pistol and his blades. Tier completely unarmed himself and stepped back from his weapons and continued to look around. "If anyone is out there I am completely unarmed. I am a Vulpa I don't wish to fight you but if you are here to try to harm anyone this will be your best chance." He called out, finished the rest by thinking to himself. Because I can assure you you will not receive any mercy later. He looked around, if the creature did not show then he would have to pick up his weapons and head back to the group.
-
Moon felt great danger come upon her, a dark feeling, but it did not stem from the Vulpa. He seemed honestly innocent....the dark feeling came from within her. Yet again, she was playing the bad guy, doing things she knew were wrong because she was scared. Maybe he was the one who had every right to be scared of her! She felt the strongest urge to surrender...of course, her thoughts were dumbed down and quickened to fit with the thoughts of a child, but this is how she truly felt. Whimpering like a struck feral pomeranian instead of a hybrid one, she hunched over lowly, carrying her tail--- a tail bigger than she was ---so she didn't trip on it. She put her ears back in submission and stepped out into the open.
-
Upon seeing her Tier smiled warmly. It's just a cub... shiBe. He didn't see any of the bulk of any explosives bound to her nor did his searching eyes spot any of the hampered movement of a consealed weapon. Kneeling down he reached into the tube like pack on his back and withdrew some biscuts and a canteen of clean water from his canteen holster on his hip. "It isn't much but you're welcome to it." He said setting the canteen out and holding out the ration biscut as far as his arm could reach so that she would not have to come too close to him.
-
"you take things to seriously...." max said after Teir's comment, he then moved into a hiden position with his BAR aimed at the vulpa. he sighed slightly, looking over at shade then back to Tier when he remved his weapons. he saw the little girl walk out and quickly got up and lowered the gun while slowly walking out into clear view. "hay, i remember you. i saw you at that lab about a month ago, you were in the same truck as me when we left. and when i woke up you were gone...."
-
Moon very, very slowly came towards the food offering...peace offering...she knew he wouldn't scoop her up and eat her, he was nice, but the general fear of adults was something she could not shake. "Thank you, sir, thank you very much," she said politely as she had been taught to. Before she got to it, however, she saw Max step out and froze at his comment, both shocked and extremely curious, wavering in place and considering taking off to the sky at the same time.
-
"do you remember? i caught you trying to steal my supplies while the medic was fixing up my shoulder after the fighting." he thought for a second, thinking of somethngto calm down the little girl. then he remembered something. "or maybe you'll remember these..." he reached into his bag and pulled out a few bars of chocolate. "these were what i cought you trying to get." he slid them across to Tier so he could give them to the little girl if she wanted them.
-
Tier picked up the candy sweet and nodded to Max as he offered them to the youth. "I do what I have to." He said to Max. He actually had to restrain himself from rolling forward to snatch up his pistol and shoot the sharp shooter for interfearing. He honestly thought at first that Max possably held a grudge against the youth but he actually used his head for something other than a hat rack for once and found out that Max and the youth actually had something of a semi pleasant history together. Or at least it wasn't one of violence. When she took the food Tier continued to smile warmly and sat back on his calves letting his hands rest loosely at his sides. He had something of a soft spot for cubs, probably something to do with the fact that he used to be a father at one point of his life. "My name is Tier." He said lightly toughing his chest. "What's yours?" He asked gesturing to her.

((I'm sorry that she's a total sobstory, but I really can't find any way to make her NOT a sobstory when she's only six years old and has the history she does :$ sorry for ze drama...))
Instantly she blushed and turned away...she felt trust for them but maybe divulging her name was showing too much trust....Soon enough however, unable to find the heart to lie or avoid, she croaked: "Moon. I'm Moon." She turned and looked at Max with big blue eyes full of curiousity, trying to remember him, and trying to remember the candy which she now huddled to herself desperately, along with the food and the doll. Unfortunately, when trying to remember him it only brought back memories of pain, of being starved to little but bones and fur by scientists who wanted to see how long someone who couldn't be killed could go without eating before becoming utterly devoid of conciousness. She may have been invincible, but she still could feel pain, she could still feel the ache in her body and stomach, growling and crawling from the horrid hunger, made worse emotionally by the scientists who refused to feed her even when she pleaded....Her eyes grew uncommonly distant for those of a six year old and she was no longer looking at him but past him. Then she turned her head back to Tier, her snow white, long hair and equally white fur catching odd light in the dimming sunset. "What you goin do with me?" she asked, fearing the worst and hoping for the best. "Could just send me back home I guess---" the home in question an abandoned shack, in which she made pretend she had parents "'Cause I find food sometimes all by myself." Moon could barely talk for her age, the result of a lack of education only helped by her own efforts to pick up words used by adults around her.
-
Koda, his fear convincing him that the strangers here were most definately enemies, shifted about underneath his box. In his mind, everything they said was an elaborately conceived trap in which he was the victim, being luted into the open. He tried desperately to stifle a cough so that they would not notice his prescence, but in the end he lost and coughed out loudly, the sound echoeing in the wallsof the building.
-
Putting his sludge hammer on to his back, shade walked over slowly to Tier siting down he looked at moon. " hello moon , iam shade, we dont want to hurt you if you want you can come with us, we will be heading back to our hide out hide out there every thing one will need their, there are a few cubs there around your age. we have a few furs there that will take care of you.....kind of like parents. we wont be leaving to night its to dark out there.... its not a good idea to go out there now." Getting up shade walked over to max and said " those are letters, any of those people around here that you might want to deliver them to or honner there memory by giving them there last thoughts." pausing for a bit shade turns to Tire and says " if you do stay with us our community lives in peace, we only fight those who attack us.... one day we hope to bring back this wast land to what it once was." Trying no to cry he stops and wipes his eyes. " it would be a good idea to mark the walls every few feet so we can find our way back out." Heading deeper in the maze getting closer to where Koda is, shade stops looking at Moon then to Tier and finally at Max, he say " we should get some rest, we will take turns sleeping so if any one is here the one who is a wake will alert the rest. Since Moon is a cub she will get to sleep for the rest of the night." volunteering to do the first shift. shade thinks to him self ' Wolf i hope you ok, we will be out of this place soon i hope...if you are where you told me i will be there soon ....stay safe my mate and master.' Sitting down shade take out his Sludge hammer lays it be side him and take a drink of water from his canteen. softly he says " i know some one is else is here...."
-
Koda hastily scampered out from under his box, dashing silently across the maze.
How dare these intruders invade his home!? He scampered to an area closer to the intruders, reaching under a pile of boxes to grabbed a rifle. He only had two othee weapons here, but he could get them easily. At this point, he waited for his chance to strike. He figured a warning shot or two would scare away the intruders.
-
"unfortunatly.....yes, but it can wait.....till she's ready" he motioned his head towards moon while trying to not let her hear. "she would apreciate this more than i deserve it." he handed a small, blood stained note to shade before walking away. when the group set down for the night he volenteired for second watchbefore sitting down with his back against one of the walls of boxes when he heard a smal click from a rifle. he asumed it was nothing and tried to sleep, but as usual he couldn't.
-
Koda winced a bit, trying to maintain his cool as an intruder rested mere inches away from him. He frowned a little, trying to move as little as possible. Then he saw the little girl, and something inside of him clicked. He could not open fire near children. It was not in his barely sensible moral code. Instead, he inched forward, uttering a small whisper.
"leave this place..."
-
max froze up, a cold shiver tracing the length of his spine as the quiet whisper reached his ears. he lowwered his head as if to appear asleep to the others and spoke in a whisper back t the one who more than likely had him at gun point. "we mean you no harm and will be gone in the morning. we only stay so as to not be faced with them. surely you can alow us one night?"
-
Moon winced, sitting up straight at the sound of the whisper...a candy bar was in her mouth and her eyes drooped from lack of sleep...she was on autopilot mood, so very grateful for their helping her, but too tired to find energy needed to speak. yet sleeping had not come easy to her this whole time, and she jumped at every little sound and chill.
-
Koda let out a soft sigh.
"how do I know you are telling the truth?" he asked. "the last people that were here said the same thing, but they tried to kill me and eat me..."
koda shuddered as he remembered the events of the past. He gently pressed his paw to his stomach, sighing. He had a large horizontal scar there from being slashed at.
-
Waking up in the middle of the night, Shade looked at Moon and whispered " are you all right ? we will protect you, its safe to sleep you need to sleep or you will get sick. you should save your noms for the morning you will be hungry."Pulling out the note Shade looks at it and puts it back in his pocket. slowly shade falls back as sleep because in a few hours it will be his turn again.
-
Moon's ears go back again, "I'm sorry," she whispers, and tucks away the other half of the candy bar. She now tries to sleep with all she can, and biology kicks in the job for her, knocking her out cold in a few minutes.
-
Still sitting there with his divine weapon, a gift from Ammy (play Okami), he thinks to himself,
" I wonder if my mate is okay." Looks around the dusty room, " I hope he does fine in this corrupted world."
Getting a little peak outside, he sees that a local gas station was getting attacked. Humans came with torches and weapons. Wolf got deeper in the shelter, knowing what would happen, he ducks for cover. In seconds, the gas station blows up. Bodies flew and the town grew more on fire.
"Now I have to get out of here... But, where do I go?"
He sees a piece of paper saying something about a another shelter near. It even had a picture of Icy and a bunch of other furries. Wolf had to find this shelter and reunite with his long lost mate. He happily setted off on his short journey, finding the shelter and fighting off the humans.
-
Tier smiled to the youth and shook his head. "Just to have you hang around for a while because between you and me." He said looking to her toy and then back to her. "I think your friend there looks pretty sleepy." Tier gathered his weaponry and offered his hand to Moon to hold as they walked into the safehouse if she wanted. Wether she took it or not mattered little. Tier knew no mother or father would allow a youth to wander in this lands. Not with the Thugs and the Crazies and the Vulpa wandering about wantoningly killing everything they come across.
Tier nodded to shade and looked to his sides and kept his voice low as he spoke as to only allow him to hear. "I truly appreciate your kindness. Most others would have just shot me. I can travel with you for a moment but sooner or later you will look and I will be gone. One thing's for certain though." He said reaching out to grasp Shade's wrist and jerking his forward to lower his shoulder and slam it into his in the ritualistic pact of the Vulpa. The process was something akin to some Frat boy or some over testosteroned football players greeting. Totally harmless but shightly shocking to first timers. "I will never divulge the location of you and yours. Good creatures are few and far between in this world. Someone has to take care of them. Someone like you."
He watched where Moon curled up and fell asleep and sat down leaning against a wall to rest his head forward. He unhasped the leather strap to his pistol holster and rested his hand on the weapon as he slept. It was an old habit that had saved his life and those of others more than once. Dozing he began to awake to the commotion of the creature drawing a weapon on them. His pistol slid like a python from it's well oiled holster and he readied himself to start shooting. His eyes trailed to little Moon to assure himself that she was ok then the sharpshooter who seemed to have the situation under controle. This Max was a bit of a mystery to him. He was honestly surprised when he did not kill him to allow him to make the assumption that there was more to this sniper than he let on. Tier liked that. A good eye on the battlefield meant the difference in a dead enemy and a dead ally. Tier waited to see if Max would need help and remained motionless. He did not want to make any stupid moves and botch the negotiation.
-
Whispering back to Teir, shade says " if you ever are in need of any thing at any time, come back to us, we will be happy to help you. we are and you included are the last hope this plant has, iam going to let you in on a sceeret .... have you evere heard of something called " living earth"?. to many its a myth, but its not. i know of its location, it was one of the cause of the war. " living earth" has the potential to clean the earth waters billions of gallons at once and remake the earth fertile again. Not only that, all the plant and animal life that was wiped out can be re created. The " living earth" is not something that can be moved its to big and a great peace of machinery. All i know is that it is hidden some where..... underground. me and my allies plan on finding it and re making the earth to how it once was."
***
Dreaming that shade did find " living earth" and seeing his mate shade wakes up. Seeing how it is his shift soon he decides not to go back to sleep. walking over to Max quietly so it is not to disturbed the others shade asks " Any thing wired happen? when we where a sleep?" Shade wages his tail a little and looks at Moon, he says softly " I hope she likes it back at the hide out... she needs pups her age to be with". Getting up to stretch Shade yawns, and sits back down.
-
max looked up, his eyes calm and emotionless as he looked to shade. ".....nothing. nothing that you woldn't expect in an abandond box factory." he noticed tier and hoped he wouldn't say anything. "and your early for your shift. i still got another hour. go back to sleep. trust me." he stood up while talking, his voice sounding more like a threat than advice. as soon as he finished he walked around a corner and out of sight with his BAR. once he was out of sight he climbed onto the wall of boxes and jumped down silently into the passage on the other side of the wall he had been laying on. "do i look like a crazed, or a flesh eater?" he spoke quietly while puting down his gun and kneling down with his hands behind his head in the empty passage.
-
Shade nodes, looking at Max and he quietly says " ok, dawn will break with in a few hours. When dawn breaks it would be a good idea to continue see if we can find any thing else about this place. see who or what made this and what for." Leaning ageist a wall of boxs Shade Falls back to sleep.
-
Moon slept through it with her usual nightmares- nightmares far too dark and bloody for any kid to dream of -yet she remained seemingly fine, the only thing really giving her away being the occasional twitch in her legs and pet dog-like whimpering in the far back of her throat. Every so often she would begin to wake, feeling something was wrong in the real world, just to fall back asleep moments later realizing she was no help awake.
-
Koda nodded at Max, agreeing with his statement.
"you're right." he whispered, lowering his rifle to the ground. After setting it on the ground, he stood up straight. Koda was a tall, lean, squirrel, about 19 years of age. His blonde hair was pulled back neatly into a ponytail, but that was the only thing really neat about him. His fur was matted, and he had dark circles under his eyes from all the sleepless nights he spent here. His clothes were torn, with spots of his own blood on them. He forced a smile and heldout a paw to max. "my name is koda"
-
After his jouney through the destroyed town, he sees light coming from a underground tunnel. He approches the light and finds his mate. He runs in and tackles him, wagging his tail too.
-
Tier sighed with relief and relaxed slightly. Max had done well. For a sharpshooter He thought jokingly. No Tier would have done worse. Much worse. The youth would be laying on the floor bleeding out and Tier would have been explaining to everyone why he was shooting and killing shit like an idiot. He trailed his eyes to little Moon and felt a deep pang of regret for her. Don't get involved. Keep moving forward. There is no place, no machine that can make things right again. He settled shifting slightly but the thought gnawed and ate at him like a hungry animal. But what if there is?... Tier fought with himself a little while longer before sleep finally came to him. He decided he would travel with Shade and his band if nothing else to watch out for them like a one winged angel and to watch out for little Moon. Dreams came to him. Drams of fire in the night, of cities burning, and of Vulpa leaping from zeppelins and parachuting to the ground like demons from the skies. The old days of the first assault always haunted him. He took comfort in his shame as it gave him something to strive to never forget.
-
Getting up in a panic from his sleep and reaching for his for sludge hammer, shade stops and looks at wolf. " Be quite, we found a pup and shes a sleep please don't wake her". looking around the maze with in the abandoned factory, Shade nodes Max is gone. Thinking to him self ' where did he go, he has to be around here some where, best not to aert the others'. quietly Shade says to wolf " how did you find me ? we got separated after the battle. why didnt you back to the hide out?" seeing how no one was a wake, Shade deride to stay up. With in a few hours it will be day light.
-
"max. and i don't mean to be impolite but you look like sh*t." he smirked looking over the squirrel while standing up and taking his hand. "i'm a sharpshooter of the 8th fox regiment of the densha rebelion...or whats left of it." he scoped up his BAR and invited koda to come with him back to the group, to atleast meet them and decide if he would like to possibly go with them.
-
Koda smiled, something deep inside him telling him it was okay to be with at least max. He just felt safe, and felt like max was trustworthy. He began walking with Max, wondering what the other members of the group would be like. He looked over at Max, and said "you know, i don't even really know how to use a rifle....i found it in someone's home before i came here." he chuckled a little. "i guess i thought if i pulled the trigger a few times and it shot bullets i could use it as a scare tactic"
-
As day breaks shade wakes the others, telling them about Wolf, and asking them if any one has seen Max. Shade gets ready to see if he fan find more about this Maze when he hears some one coming. not knowing who it is he reaches for his sludge hammer and thinks 'best not to use my p-90 here to close for it'.
-
"I dont remember being seperated." Wolf growled, "I remembered that a blinding light was surrounding me and that was it. Then, I came back in this dump." Wolf looks around the base, seeing the pup asleep. After noticeing this, he went around the base looking for a nice place to sleep. Suddenly, he felt weaker and short of breath. His divine powers were going away. "Dang it...." He growled weakly, "I need something quick to energize myself again!"
-
Moon wakes whimpering from a nightmare and looks around the maze, seeing a bright light coming from Wolf's general direction...something told her the light was not usually this weak. Someone else with divine power...she wasn't alone. She eats a few squares of her bar and waits for Max and Koda, sort of hope growing in her with Wolf there....though that hope was snuffed when the hum of a chopper outside, at first quiet then louder. Instantly upon hearing the helicopter she curls up in a ball to make herself smaller and whines, praying it was just a rouge chopper and would go away.
-
Shade reply's to Wolf " yeah, there was some sort of flash followed by a loud bang, when i came to you whee gone."He look at Wolf then to Moon. Not knowing what to do he gets scared, and goes to ask Tier to confert Moon, wale he goes to see whats wrong with Wolf. Hearing the sound of the chopper Shade gets his p-90 out in case he need to fight sitting be side Wolf he listen to see if it is going to land. it dose not. looking down the long hall of the maze Shade sees Max approach with a squirrel. putting his P-90 a way Shade stick his paw out to Shake with the Squirrel and says " hello my name is Shade. I see you have found one of my friends. " Looking back at Wolf he says, " he looks bad, he might be in need of medical help. The hide out is to far from here, but there is a settlement not to far from here maybe some one there has medical supply." looking down at his own wound from the fight earlier and noticing that it has started to get infected. Shade tells the others that he might need some supply theirs a village not to far from here maybe some one there can help."
-
Moon calms down a bit once the sound of the chopper fades away. She still worries that it will circle and come back, but at least it is gone for now. Shaking, a single tear drops down her cheek and she snuffles, standing up, truly concerned that the chopper was not civillian but government, sent to pick her out from among the colors of the wasteland. But it is gone now. It did not land. She was okay. Moon bends down and picks up her things..."Poor Wolf," she says in sympathy for the injured mate. For a moment, she thinks about trying to use her powers to heal him, but she doesn't know if it would work and she worries about telling the truth about herself to the others.
-
Koda shyly shook paws with Shade.
"my name is Koda" he said. "I uhm....live here....as for medical attention" he lifted up his shirt revealing the scar across his stomach. "it's healed...i think" he muttered. "but....i could use a bath and some new clothes" he smiled as he fixed his shirt back in place.
-
Wolf takes action and decides to get some medicine for Shade. Looking at his weapons, he threw them down and gave out a angery growl,
"I dont need those things to fight them off. I have my own claws."
He runs out of the shelter and goes out to a medicine store. As he was running into the store, he gets ambushed by a group of hungry humans, running their filthy hands over him he yells,
"Help!!! Help!!! Anyone!!!"
Then, his mouth was covered and brought down to the ground with a knife close to his throat.
-
Nodding shade looks at Koda, and says " if you want you can join us. We have all that you will need back at our hide out ( mostly scavenged but in good quality ) ". looking around Shade sees Wolf run out. Yell for him to stop because its not safe to be out there alone especially with out a weapon. Looking back at the rest of his group he says " ill be back" cocking his p-90, he runs out of the maze. hearing his cry for help Shade run in the medical building point his p-90 at the starving thing, he says " get off him ". bring his p-90 up to his eye to aim for the head Shade say "ill give you to the count of 3. 3...2...1" the thing did not lessen. With one shot he kills it. Walking over to Wolf shade bend down and gives him his paw to help him up. putting his p-90 back to his hip, both leave the building . Mad at Wolf, Shade walks back to the factory where the others are as they walk he looks at the ground and says " you could of been killed or worse, i was fine for a wall nothing the healing pod back at the hide out couldn't of handled " looking up Shade sees what appears to be a travailing merchant. Waving from where they are to get his attention, Shade walks over to the unknown man. " Hello iam Shade, i see your a merchant. May i ask what you sell?."
-
Tier had been awake and sat motionless generally just getting a feel for who all was there and their possable strienghts and weaknesses. This newcomer, almost ethereal made him uneasy but as long as he didn't pose a threat Tier was fine with him. His ears perked up and stoically he raised his rifle and remailed silent looking around as the chopper buzzed them and continued on. There was no telling to what faction it belonged to but he didn't want to take any chances. "It's ok little one." Tier said calming with a smile. "They're gone now." He watched with general curiosity as Shade described a wound and the newcomer took off. Tier had some medical knowledge, hell all of the Vulpa was taught basic combat first aid at least but it mattered not. Shade was more than likely beyond his treatment anyway. His ears perked when he heard the scream and he looked to Moon. "Just cover your ears." He said turning with his rifle to walk toward the entrance and sight in the thug that was threatening Wolf. The Kar 98 rifle thundered and the 7.92 caliber round left the end of the barrel to slice through the air and cover the distance between the safe house and the medical station in less than a second. The lead projectile entered the mans face just below the joint of his nose above his mouth and exited through the back of his head taking a massive amount of lower brain matter with it. He choose another Human to destroy by shooting them in the chest and another by blowing out his right thigh. "Sniper! Cover me!" He shouted to Max slinging his rifle across his shoulder and charging forward peppering the area around Wolf with his MP 40. Tier knew and understood he could kill more with his rifle but he needed to get the creature out of there. He ran forward hopping debris and shooting one handed basically just spraying and praying he didn't hit Wolf. "Hang on soldier, I'm commin'!" Tier said as he threw himself to the door and slapped on a fresh clip hoping that Max heard him when he had called out for support. Watching Shade bound past him Tier allows them to leave and stepps inside. He smiles over the corpses and looks behind him. His hunger was getting the better of him as his stomach grouled at him and he knelt over one of the bodies to open his mouth frightenly wide revealing rows upon rows of shark like teeth. He moved his face forward and his secondary mouth plunged into the corpse ripping chunks of meat away and devouring it right there. He had ate into the chest cavity and wiped the blood from his mouth onto a red handkerchief he withdrew from his pocket. He sauntered back to the safehouse to spot Shade talking to the merchant and continued walking to return to the others.
-
Moon has retreated to a ball like state, but after the shooting and fighting she unfolds and stands up again. She feels unsafe being too alone and wanders about the maze to see what everyone is up to, tail dragging behind her,not forgetting her things. Moon had grown used to carnage and though it still disurbed her, it no longer traumatized her, even her own pain no longer bothered her...the memories were what did her in. She came to Tier and walked beside him, thinking he was the one most likely to be okay with it.
-
Tier looked over and knelt down. "Hey there, looks like you're up. You ok?" He asked Moon smiling. "Sorry, I had to go and make sure that other guy was ok." He reached out and rufffed her hair a little and shook his head. "You're some little trooper. You know what? I might hang around for a while. Mr. Shade told me there was a machine that can make everything better, you know my people think that there is a place that is still good? A place that wasn't messed up because of the wars? My people say that in this place everything's good but I don't believe them. I don't believe anything's good unless you make it good."
-
"I know...nothing good," Moon agreed. She sypathized completely with this therory. At one time she believed all adults were good and loved children. Not anymore. At the same time as she said this a new idea started to form in her head, a daydream of a better place out there. "Wish I could go to better place. They no look for me there." Her ears go back thinking she said too much and she eats a little more of the biscuit in her hand as a sort of excuse. "We go back to others now?" she says, mouth full.
-
max walked over to the two paler than normal. "next time you call for my back up.....make sure me and moon are gone before you go through with your arter fight habit, it's more than a bit unsettling to watch through the scope of my rifle." he moved to the other side of moon shouldering his rifle. "not that i'm holding it against you, it's just hard to watch knowing that it could easily be my at your feet when you do that." he looked over at the others and wondered where koda was.
-
Koda had, during the course of the fighting, ducked under a box to hide. He was terrified of all the gunfire. After the fighting ended, and he heard max asking for him, he lifed up the box and crawled out a few inches before standing up and shuffling over to max, looking down at the ground in embarrresment. He was dissapointed in himself for not fighting.
-
Tier nodded with a smile to Moon. "Sure." In all honesty when she had said "they" he thought she meant the thugs and crazies. He truthfully had no idea what she meant. Looking to Max Tier's smile faded and he sighed. "Well. I suppose it was going to be seen before too long. You all got nothing to worry about out of me Sniper." He said before shaking his head. "You all did the one thing no one else ever did, you accepted me." He scoffed and reached out to slap Max good naturedly on the shoulder. "Besides, I'd expect you to put me down in a heartbeat if I ever cocked ignorant." Tier walked over to the others and waited to see what the next plan of action was.
-
Moon was happy that he had no idea. Though while, ideally, she would live out her life without speaking of it again, she knew that someday it could come out in a way she'd regret. She looked at Tier cautiously, then to Shade, then back to him: "Can I do something on trip today? I can do something useful! I can!" she put her hand on her chest and nodded. "I can keep watch on the outside perimeter or scout ahead for aggressives." She knew what the big words she used meant, though not by themselves, and having been well trained as a soldier she was perfectly capable though she worried they might not take her seriously....Moon had a need for alone time with her powers, the longer she had to hide them the more nervous she became. Before, night flights were her favorite. She truthfully hoped they would allow her to wander off alone, as unlikely as that seemed for a bunch that thought she was nothing more than an innocent cub.
-
Looking at Artyom, shade says " we can offoer you food, clean water and shelter if you want to come with us. "
-
"moon, sorry to say but theres no way i can let you go of on your own. if you want i could go with you, or you could ask Tier, i'm sure he wouldn't mind." max said kneeling down next to moon calmly.
-
Koda's ears pricked up at this point. He smiled a little, and spoke to Moon and Max.
"if you want, I will go with her!" he said, drawing his revolver. "i may not be able to use a rifle, but I can use this!"
he smirked a bit.
"it may be small but it really packs a punch"
-
"But I-" Moon started, only to realize that that was rude and so stuck her fingers in her mouth. In doing so she briefly exposed the tatoo just below her collarbone, reading RE-257. She looked to each of them, ears back and said in regret, it starting to come to her that hiding things in front of people was so much more difficult than hiding in the night: "No-one has to watch me. I don't want to be annoying or your burden." She had learned these words from a trainer, who indeed claimed training her to be a soldier and watching her was an annoying burden.
-
"Sweetie" koda said, crouching down and looking at moon. "it's not that you're a burden. We just want you to be safe." he smiled at her, holding out a paw.
"by the way, my name is Koda"
-
"Ko-da, Ko-da..." she took his paw and smiled slightly, forgetting all about the seal tattoo on her collarbone. "Koda! Koda squirrel..." she noticed he was fluffy the way she was and felt a bit of connection to him since she was a squirrel herself. "Oh." And she takes the sheep doll and shows it: "his name is Boon." She felt happy being with these people, or at least happier as she went on.
-
Koda happily shakes 'boon's' paw.
"well, it's nice to meet you, moon and boon".
He smiled for the first time in a long time, genuinely liking these people.
-
Looking down at his wound then back to Artyom " We have a vault that allays need repairs as well as weapons, i fine for repairs for now but the other might need them. Follow me were not to far from here." Walking back to the abandon factory, Shade looks back to Artyom and says " oh buy the way this is Wolf." As Shade reaches the entrance he sees one lone them ruining toward them. Getting out his sludge hammer Shade swings it, hitting it, its body fly's back a few feet followed by a trail of blood. Hearing its call's of pain Shade run up to it and finishes the job. " you can never be to carefull" he says. walking over the the factory " well this is where the others are, iam sure they will be glade to meet you".
-
Tier mulled this over a moment. The Vulpa had no qualms over using young ones as spotters or scouts but she was not a Vulpa. "I think... that as long as she stays close by there shouldn't be any harm. Act as a scout or a patrole within a short area. Give her a little bit of a grownup's job and see if she likes it." He said with a shrug. "Besides, the tighter a leash, the more apt you are to try to slip the collar." Tier mused. Granted it was a bit of a risk, but as long as someone kept an eye on her things should be alright. Besides, he remembered what he was like at that age and how much of a hellion he was at times, and some of the stunts he tried to get away with just because he wasn't supposed to. "We can talk about later and see what it's all about." Tier said to Max. It was them he spied the tattoo on Moon's collarbone and furrowed his brow. Tier had tats, his was a serial tat and tats of service awarded to him for actions within the field but these looked very similar to a serial tat. "Where'd you get that?" Tier asked confused as facts ran through his head. One, someone who either had, or knew how to make a tattoo machine had set ink to her. Two, someone had some decent ink for the lettering to be so bold and visible. And three, unless someone had a stencil those were military lettering. Even if they weren't the blocky cut-and-go style lettering there was just something about the shape and flow about something that was done by some form of government personnel.
-
Moon's edges of her fur went up like hackles and she stepped back from Koda. "Moon likes tatoo. Gov'ment give her tatoo cause she came in and..." now she steps back more in self defense. it was only a very easy question he had asked her but to Moon it was a curveball to the face. "...and Moon ask for tatoo so they give her nice tatoo." so she nods at her terrible lie.
-
"i don't like it but fine." he looked over and noticed moon's ink. he heard tier bring it up and thought of his own tag, inked on his lower back and the underside of his left forearm. he listened to moon's explination and noticed something but he thought better to not bring it up. "i'll stick to the buildings and cover from there, anyone wish to join me?"

Coming into the factory with Shade, he had a smile and a laugh on his face. He seemed to enjoy the thrill of almost being killed. But on the other hand, so glad that Shade saved him. He went over to his weapon and put it on a forge kind of thing. With a hammer he had found in the factory, he swung at it and it made cracks in the sword. Doing this over and over, the sword shattered. But, one part stayed without cracks, the handle. He picked up the handle and threw it into the forge and watched it melt away.
"I dont need any weapons..." Wolf growled to himself, "It's wrong to weild this weapon."
He picked up the shards of the weapon and threw them into the forge as well.
"Well, he have extra stuff to make a weapon."

"I---I go outside too," Moon said, wanting out of there before anyone else could ask her anything more that she didn't want to answer, feeling stupid for not hiding it better. And with that she ran back the way she had come and outside. She turned around the corner of the factory and into the alley thereof, out of the sunlight and into the shade. She didn't want to cry and thought it silly to do so but she very well remembered how she got the ink. Moon collapsed against the side, crying into her paws out of sight of the others. She wondered if maybe she was supposed to be alone on this, and that was just the way it was, she wasn't fit to be in a group...
-
"perhaps i should go check on her..." KOda muttered, running after moon "'moon, wait!" he shouted, but he had lost sight of her. "moon? Moon where are you?" he asked, calling out to her. He held his revolver, afraid that some vicious creature may have gotten her.
-
The six year old heard him calling and knew she needed to come, the grief was still heavy on her face and tears still wet on her cheeks as she hauled herself out slowly in shame, head down. She almost did not want to come out, but she knew they'd look anyway, and maybe get mad. "I'm sorry," she sobbed and turned away.
-
Koda ran over to little Moon as soon as he heard her voice, and hugged her, unaware of the reaction she might have.
"oh moon I was so worried!" he exclaimed, even though she had only been gone a few moments. In his mind, the events of a time not too long ago replayed in his mind... The events that involved another young child, but with a less hsappy ending...
-
She indeed felt comforted, some sort of new emotion that was hard for her to register clicking in her mind...but Moon couldn't. "I have to go," she whispered through tears. "I'm no good. Just trouble. Make it bad for you...Moon have to take care of herself, alone, no trouble then. She hide in some dark place. Never come out. No trouble."
-
Koda kept MOon held close. He didn't want another child to die in his care. When the wars first started, his little brother stayed with him all the time. But one day....certain things happenedm
"Please, Moon..." he said. "i care for you and want to protect you..."
this was true, but mostly Koda secretly and subconsiously wanted to make up for the death of his younger brother.
-
"They come for me. Shoot everyone who try protect me. Only I don't die. So they take me back. Leave you dead...gov'ment does. I never die. Just alive all time. Even monsters come at me, rip me up...I no die. Just fly away. Fly away all time." She simply could not take anymore, her nervous system and mentality was abused enough as it was. She did not understand the new feelings she had or how to use them...Moon had fainted within the next minute, limp in Koda's hands.
-
Shocked, Koda ran back to Max, Teir, and the others, holding the poor, abused little girl in his arms. His eyes welled up with tears as he blurted out what she said to them.
"That's what she said!" he exclaimed. "i don't know what happened! But now she won't wake up, please take care of her!"
he whimpered, trying desperately not to lose what little composure he had left.
-
Looking out of the factory and while Shade wasn't looking, Wolf started off again. Proving that he could fight off the humans with his claws. His first step out of the factory said something to him, "Dont do it..." Wolf growled and kept going. Even more steps later they kept saying to him, "Please, stop." Wolf stopped and looked behind him. He was now lost in the town. Struggling on finding the factory. Then, a deep voice from behind a dark ally said to him, "Come here Wolf....." Wolf didn't know what to do. All it said was to come here. So, he decided to go over to it. But, it wasn't there anymore. Then a dark furred wolf came from behind him and tackled him. With his fangs all bloody, he dug them into Wolf's neck.
-
Tier turned when he heard Koda come in and glared at him. "What the hell?" He asked shooting his mouth off before giving Koda a chance to explain. After Koda was done Tier relaxed and shook his head confused. "I... don't know anything about any form of organized government. I thought everyone scattered during The Fall. Remnants maybe?" He offered looking at Moon. He had fought against governments who used bio weapons against them but surly little Moon couldn't be one of them... unless... She's a next gen! Tier suddenly felt real uncomfortable around the cub and slightly afraid. Next gen fighters were known to take down entire squads Panzer armor divisions alone. Nervously he licked his lips remembering his last encounter with a Next gen. He was lucky to had escaped with his life. But somehow Moon was different... she was not the horrific killing machine like the others he and his kind had faced, but still, a promice was a promice. He had promiced Shade he would travel with them and protect them what he could and look after little Moon as best he was able, and he was not about to go back on that promice. Tier sighed and nodded. "I'm going to step outside and speak to Max and help him with the patrole. I'd let her rest a moment and check with Shade and see if he had anything we need to do at the direct." Tier stepped out and set out to find the sharpshooter. Snipers were good at what they do because of many factors. One of them being unseen until they were ready otherwise. After a couple of minutes of searching he finally found Max and caught up to him. "Hile, Sniper." Tier said walking up. He looked at Max and back out to the wastes. "Moon's govie property. I'm thinking Remnants but how would she keep escaping them? If that's true we're probably about to have one hell of a mess on our hands before too long."
-
walking in to the factory with Artyom . Shade said " this is Artyom hes a traveling merchant who dose repairs and mods weapons." seeing how every one was panicking, shade asked for some one to quickly explain what happened. After the expiation he looked at moon and pulled out the letter from his pocket, the same letter that Max had given him handing it Max he said. " Think its time ?". looking around Shade said " If shes really a next gen then we need to move. That chopper could of been looking for her. What they did isnt wright... I will.... no we will find who did this and take them down." Turning to Moon , shade said" It will be all right, we wont let them take you. The days you spent there are over". leading the way out shade told the other " We should stop off by the hide out ...ill lead the way, where going to need some supply. "
-
"now is not the time to give her this. i'll give it to her later when the time is right." max said putting away the letter and looking at the group. "about a month ago, my rebel regiment was sent to knock out a government facility. what we saw there was horrific and will haunt whats left of us till we die. out of the entire regiment that went in only 32 of us came out. thats where i first found her, she was rumaging through the equipment we were getting ready to load back onto the trucks. if she is theirs then they probibly think the other rebels still had her till they crushed our base two weeks ago, that's why i was out and about alone. and they probibly can't find her due to the amount of damage done to their networks and the tech at that lab."
-
Wolf opened the bloody wolf's mouth and took out the fangs. The wolf jumped back and gave him a snarl,
"I need food... Food and something to drink"
Wolf knew that he wanted to drink blood. But he also wanted to eat him. He reached from behind his back and saw that he didn't have a weapon. Wolf sighed and took out his claws.
"Bring it on... demon."
The wolf charged with anger and Wolf grabbed just in time around it's neck.
"Now, stop and relax."
"N... Never!" The wolf said, choaking.
"Please, I dont want to hurt you. I am one of you." Wolf whined.
The wolf bit at Wol's hands and he dropped him.
"Fine, have it your way wolf. But do remember, I know where you live."
"Heh... Well, the place is well guarded with the strongest wolves around. So, dont suspect your assualt to be a successful one."
"What ever... Good bye and I'll see you and your wolves later."
THe wolf vanished in the darkness and Wolf ran back to the factory. He sat right at the enterance, waiting for the wolf to come.
-
Koda sat up against a wall with Moon held in his paws. He had his revolver on the ground next to him, in case something were to happen. He didn"t understand all this next-gen crap, he just wanted to keep Moon safe.
-
Looking at Koda, Shade said " You made this maze right?, please take Moon deeper in to it and keeper safe. This is not the last of them, remember that helicopter from earlier ? i saw it again when i was walking back here......" as Shade talked the sound of the Helicopter landed, trying to use his hidden power of mind reading ( witch he had optioned after a bio weapon was used to attack him in a fight with the government long a go ) he says " i can't hear what they are thinking, they must be blocking it some how. Ill explain this later nows not the time" Shade gets out his p-90 and gets ready for the fight. Truing to Artyom, he said" We will Explain this to nows not a good time, can you use a gun? or a weapon? we might be in for a long battle." Looking down at his wound and seeing how it has gotten worse he turns around, looking to see if he can find any thing to help heal it before the battle. Finding nothing he asks " dose any one have a med pack?...if this get worse i might not be of use till we get back to the hide out."
Looking at the door way he yell to wolf to get in side. After a few minuets a another helicopter fly by and lands followed by a another and a loud sound sort of like a metal container falling but with something in side it. Desperate to find out what it is Shade try to use read there minds again, with little success he hear the thoughts of one of them. He find out what is in the transportation chamber, its a Death weaver a creature of such horror, it is able to shape shift in to what you fear the most, if you hear it call your name it might be to late for you, for when it dose its voice is all ready in side your head it can control you . No one has ever seen the Death weaver's true form very little have ever escaped it. With a look of sear and udder horror on his face Shade turns to the rest and says. " They have a Death weaver in that container we got to go now.
Following Koda sent trail, they finally find him, looking at him Shade ask" is there another way out of here, we got to go they have a Death weaver out there, the best place for us to be is under ground until they leave. I have thought that Death weavers where only myth up till now, these thing are one of there projects. one that they thought could win the war, it turned out to be to strong, the creator of the Death weaver hung him self after he created it. It wasn't like he wanted to any way he was forced to make it. Ill explain how i know all of this once we get out of hear and to safety."
-
Still holding little Moon and trying to process everything, Koda motioned to a stack of boxes in the corner. "under there there is a hatch that leads to the basement!" he exclaimed. "we can hide there until this death weaver thing goes away!"
-
"go on ahead, i'll follow....i already know how to fight whats coming for me in that box....and i need to face it alone." max grabbed his gear and turned back towards the main entrance bafore throwing a med pack over his shoulder, "use it wisely, it's my last one." with that he shouldered his rifle and held his BAR confidently in his hands. "as a shardshooter, i was trained to not fear even the blinding flash of the apocalypse hailing down on my head, with that said theres only one other thing a death weaver will use against it's prey.....the people they could never harm.....i'll be down in a moment." he walked to the entrance and saw just what he expected, a dark hazy figure aproaching the building. as the figure came into view and cleared it turned out to be a tall, bueatifull redish-brown furred fox with black ear and tail tips walking sentuly through the debris. "you think you have me figured out. you picked the wrong form to come at me with."
-
Wolf runs inside and takes cover. Then, he thought of an idea,
'Why not get back my metal and create a new weapon?"
So, he went over back to the forge and took out the metal. HE placed it on a anvil near him and started to pound on it with a hammer. Slowly, the weapon came out to be a huge sword. Not the sword from last time, but it was alot more sharper and dence.
"There we go." He barked.
He jumped to Shade's side and got ready for battle.
-
Tier nodded to Shade removing his black leather gloves. "I have combat medical. Here." He said waiving Shade over. "Let's see here... Hmm. Need to try to clean it first." He said pouring some water from his canteen onto the would to try to wash away any dirt to keep out infection. "Now I just need to use something to soak up the blood, a folded shirt, a field dressing, a maxipad, anything to plug up the hole and slow the flow of blood." Once he had the hole covered and had pressure on it he reached behind him to his pack. "Duck tape, duck tape, duck tape... here we go. Something you can wrap it with and not have to worry about it for a while." Once he had bound the wound he washed his hands of any blood and replacing his gloves. "That will do for now but you're going to feel sick as a dog and as weak as a kitten. All I can tell you is drink plenty of water because I don't have the time to set you up with an I.V. and I don't think I have the supplies, or the patience to deal with any infections." He said with a shrug.
-
Turing to Tier, Shade thanked him. Walking over to the door to the dimly light basement Shade opened it " Come on get in." Being the Last one to enter he closed the door Siting down next to a wall and getting his p-90 ready in case he had to use it Shade said. " Ok where do want me to start?. Theirs quite a bit I can explain" stopping to think and to see read Max's mind, Shade found out that the Death-weaver had take the from of some one he loved, not wanting to prying to his personal memory Shade stooped and looked up to the others " I hope hes all right up there".
-
"i'll be delighted to put you underground." "did i strike a nerve?" a sweet voice called, a slight giggle escaped the death weavers mouth. max new what this ment, they were standing twenty feet away from each other with a metiphorical gun to each others heads. "so, we're at that point hu? how long have you been in there?" "from the moment i saw you walk out of that factory." she smiled brightly. "if i hadn't seen her die in my own hands, felt the heat of the furnace she was creamated in, scattered her ashes into the winds...i might beleive you were really my beloved fionce nami. and you don't know just how much i wish you had taken the form of the b*st*rd that called himself my mentie. but while i'm waiting to get my hands on him...." he raised the automatic rifle and unloaded a full clip into the being in standing infront of the box factory. he quickly reloaded as the death weaver sat up, black ooze slowly dripping from the bullet holes. "you think that could kill me?" "no, but this might." he smirked now aiming his sniper rifle, with a little 'atatchment', a small grinade launcher which launched with a solid 'thunk' hitting the death weaver straight between her watery begging eyes.
half an hour latter max walked inside and down into the hidden celler. "i think they got the message. and i don't think they'll send another death weaver after her while we're all together. not once their finished cleaning up that one anyway..." he walked across to a nearby wall and sat down. "if anyone wants a rifle grinade launcher atatchment, they can have it, i'm out of ammo for it.....now i am anyway."
-
Tier nodded to Shade. "Thank you." He said in responce. He looked to Max glad to see him alive and well but showing nothing as far as emotions went. Shaking his head to the general offer of the M203 attachment he declined it's acceptance. It wouldn't fit to his rifle anyway. What he wanted to get his hands on was a Panzershreck or a Panzerfaust at least. Something with enough firepower he could bring down one of those choppers if they decided to buzz them again sometime in the near future.
-
"w-wait!" shouted Koda, his nerves getting the best of him. "you aren't going to blow up my home, are you!?"
-
"well" koda said, lowering his voice, and backing off. "i live....in here"
he whimpered at the though of his home being destroyed.
-
"promise?" asked Koda, wanting to beleive that this guy was telling the truth, but cautious nonetheless.
-
Tier liked the idea of some explosives. "An anti armor weapon could be created, something that could propel one of my grenades at a hardened target." He sat back thinking for a moment. Hodge podge weaponry was not his ideal choice but beggars cant always be choosers.
-
Tier looked over suprised and slightly caught off guard that he had been thinking aloud but grinned at Artyom at his proposal of making an anti armor weapon. "Herr merchant I do believe that I might be able to fulfill that task." Tier made a mental note that Artyom was somewhat of a repairman and decided he would have to keep his eyes open the next time they stepped out.
-
" If there is a farmers co-op near by then we should head there, theres no telling how many more of these government thugs will come back." getting up shade got up and went to the latter clime out he looked at the blob of what was left of the death weaver. " hmmmm, so this is what is left of it." walking down to the exit shade was the first to leave the factory
-
"excuse me, mister?" asked koda, looking to Artyom. "but....since we're going to leave, what should I do with her?"
he looked at Moon, who was still fast asleep.
-
"max followed shade out and smirked. "no shade, thats whats left of PART of it. if you'll turn your attention to the left....." he said turning shade's head by the lower jaw softly so he was looking at the large black spatter that covered the entire front of the factory, the side of the building across the street and the street its self was nothing but a black, sticky, ooze covered mass. "like i said....i don't think they'll send another one against me for a while." he heard koda's question and looked around. "hmm...either one of us carries her or we find/make a slead to put her on. your call"
-
Koda nodded, and stood, tucking his revolver away and holding moon in his arms. "i'll carry her" he said.
"also...i have some grenades underneath some boxes... You guys can take them if you want."
-
As Max turns Shade head he begins to smile and laugh joyfully. Turning to Koda , Shade nodded " so you will carry her? it will be a wall before we get back, we might need those grenades." looking around to see if the way was clear Shade walked down the street headed towards the farmers co-op.
-
Koda rushed back in with Moon, gathering up a small bag of grenades. He then ran back to shade and the others, and handed it to him.
"theres only 6" he said. "we have to use them sparingly"
-
Confused, Koda uttered a soft squeek and said "what is a sticky bomb?"
-
Looking up at Artyom, Koda shook his head no. "why do we have to fight? I don't like fighting!" he exclaimed. "it only leads to bad things happening! Like with moon....and with kenji...."
-
"will it ever end?" asked koda, softly petting Moon as she slept. He whimpered a little, afraid of hoe he might be answered.
-
"it will all end, but as for how is the question....there can't be peace without there first being conflict....Nihil nullo fines velit finem." (nothing ends when no one is willing to end it.- latin) max said calmly not looking at either koda or artyom.
-
Turning to Max, Koda looked bewildered. "you speak Latin?" he asked. "wow"
-
Noding at Artyom comment, then looking at Koda " This will end one day, i plan on finding the people who did this to moon and taking them down one by one." pauseing Shade looked around " what iam looking for is a peace of technology called living earth, this can make the earth fertile again, purify millions of gallons of water at once, all the plants spices that where wiped out can be brought back..... yes i know this sound like a myth but i have inflated an top sceart computer files and i have read it , its real. After we get our supplys theirs a base we can go through to see if we can find anything that will lead us to it , or to the people who did this to Moon." Shade wipes his eyes.
-
"This will end one day Koda" Wolf said as he looked at the blade he made, "I will help you guys with your problems." Looks around for gernades. "Oh, I found a few back here!" Wolf picks them up and hands them to Shade, "Here."
-
Koda blinked and looked at the new grenades.
"those....aren't mine...."
-
"not really, i just picked up a few quotes in different languages from some of my old squadmates, but of course i thought of some of my own." max said inspecting his rifle carefully. he looked over at the new grenades and smiles widely. are those phosphorus, high explosive frags? i havn't seen one of those in ages."
-
Moon slowly stirred, her tail twitching. Her ears were back as she sat up in Koda's arms. "What happen? What happen?" She got up to her feet, concerned about what happened while she was out.
-
"Well" Koda said, crouching down so he was eye level with Moon.
"Nothing much happened. We just decided where we wanted to go next" Koda decided it would be better not to tell Moon about the whole death weaver incident.
Then he turned to Max.
"I don't know what kind of grenades they are, but I know they really hurt!" he exclaimed.
-
"No bad? No mad at Moon?" she asked, worried they were furious she kept her little secret until the last moment. "No bad, right?"
-
Shade took the grandees from Wolf and handed them to Artyom , Shade said " can you use these ?". Looking at Moon , Shade said "did you have a nightmare? Your not bad , it will be all right. "
-
She tilts her head. "No nightmare...just black. Thank you. Thank you for be nice to Moon." she says...if they were bad, they would have got her while she slept, she knew it. She waits for them to be ready to go, but can't hold it in and looks up..........."When go, can Moon fly? I should fly so don't be nervous," she looks to her tail, where the fur is a bit static and knits her eyebrows. "Moon not try to be annoying, just have to fly..."
-
Koda pets Moon and smiled at her.
"if you want to, of course you can!"
-
Tier looked t shade and noded to him. "Herr Shade, I am going to scout ahead. Herr Max if you are ok I would like to have you accompany me. I'd rather having your eyes on my back than an enemie's." He readied his MP 40 and stepped out bounding from rubble pile to rubble pile. once he was in fromt of the co-op building he paused and waited to see if Max could see something he couldn't... or if he spotted any nasty little suprises laying around for anyone snooping around. A boobytrap or a mine could be just as deadly as a bullet to the head when they are in the right place or an infection sets in.
-
"coming." max called quickly following tier up into the confined space, he took a quick look around and didn't see anything out off the ordinary. "all clear at the moment. so tell me, that little habit of yours, do you do that after every fight or just when your hungry? not that i mind, if i'm dead i'm not going to know right?" he said casualy trying not to offend his obviously phisicaly better off friend.
-
Moon was very excited upon hearing this permission and didn't think twice. Flying came simply enough to her after all her practice. She kicked up off the ground like someone trying to jump to reach something, only after she jumped she didn't come down. She sort of floated there, suspended in air, and considered whether to go higher or not. She realized they weren't leaving yet but she couldn't help herself but to enjoy the air.
-
Looking back at Moon, Wolf had a smile on his face and said to himself, "I wish I could fly." Then he saw Tier running out the door about to scout ahead. Wolf ran up to him quickly and asked, "May I join you in your scouting?"
-
Tier nodded to Max as he looked at the building. "When I'm hungry, or the moment takes me. We have been known to feast on our victims during combat especially at times of CQC. Nothing demoralizes an adversary like watching their friends getting their throats chewed out and their faces mauled when it's down to throwing fists. You heard of how it was during the first assault? We never changed. Males, females, cubs, they're all equally edible. Every Vulpa feeds off of flesh. We prefer living but will settle for the freshly dead after cooking and assurance of the absence of poisons or diseases." He then looked to him in a 'matter of factly' manner. "But the same could hold for the living if they exhibit actions that lean towards some form of illness or something." He turned to Wolf and nodded. "If you could I'd like you to bound forward and stop at the door, that one that's half busted in." Tier said pointing to the broken door that hung from it's hinges at a crazy angle. "Half decent structures could hold suprises. Look and see if you can see any boobietraps or anything like that. When you tell us it's clear, I'll run up and Sniper will cover us. Soon as we're ready we'll kick the door and sweep the area. No since in running in half cocked and getting messed over. Soon as your ready head out. I'll cover you." Tier said raising his MP 40 to his shoulder. He would rely on Max for pin pointing targets and picking them off. He would spray out enough led to keep anyone's head down who decided they wanted to attack, and provide Wolf cover to engage them in close quartered combat.
-
Noding Shade said, "ill weight here". watching as they ran off Shade turned around and looked at Moon wide eyes he said " you can fly?".
-
Koda simply blinked at shade. "is flying really that strange?" he asked. "i mean look at the death weavers"
-
"I can! I don't die either so if I fall it's okay!...But it hurts." Moon frowns, remembering past fails at flying, and picking her bloody body up off the ground afterwords. She then floats over to Koda. "How you know bout death weavers? I used to have one for friend in lab..."
-
The other guys told me about them" said Koda. "and....friend? How? I mean..." then koda remembered that Moon didn't know. "i heard they were really mean..."
-
"His name Atreyu. Bit older than me. So nice all the time to me, would play with me. But then they sent him away as a soldier, made him do mean things...never see him." Her expression changed again to one of forlorn.
-
Doing his best to cheer up Moon, koda says "i'm sure you'll see atreyu again some day! Maybe he escaped from being a soldier!" he smiled a bit, trying not wonder if the dead death weaver was atreyu.
-
Moon twirls a bit and flys higher, her tail dragging far below her. "I hope so.......when we going?" She feels much tension staying in once place for too long.
-
"still not too sure..." says Koda, trying hard to remember where they were supposed to go. "the others might know!"
-
a quick shiver wen't down max's spine remembering one of his previous missions with the resistance where the strike team he was on ran into a group of rouge vulpa. "thanks for the image, it un-supresed part of my past...." max heard the plan and quickly responded "got it." he nodded now sitting down with his back against the wall, hidden by some ruble with his rifle barrel aimed at the door, his BAR set up in the same manor just in case. "in position, let's do this quick."
-
Wolf quicly sharpened his blade under Tier's cover. he picked up some stones of the ground but they would just shatter onto the ground. "Crap I cant sharpen my blade!" Wolf looks around for any suspisious behavior, "Be right back Tier, I'm going into the near by forest and find some stones. Come if ya wish but I'll be back soon." Wolf sprinted into the forest in search of some stones.
-
"No, i guess not. Not after hearing the story's i have heard about the Death-weavers" Shade said to Koda. Looking at Moons " Do you remember if you have heard any thing about the death weavers or your friend Atreyu ? oh and Moon please dont go to high up you don't want to get hurt." Shade wages his tail happily.
-
Going through the forest, Wolf found some good hard rocks. Looking everywhere around him, he shapened his blade. "There, now I can fight." He got up and ran back to Tier.
-
Ancestors damnation! Where in the hell is he going!? Tier thought as he watched Wolf take off. Being the soldier he was though he said nothing and began creeping forward keeping his eyes fixed on the building watching it closely, as if he expected something to jump out at him from behind every pile of rubble or every shadow. Tier stopped by the door and waited for Wolf to show back up. Looking into his eyes to try to gauge his true emotions Tier asked him in a tone that was as absolute as a chisel carving granite. "Are you ready?" He turned back to the door and raised himself to a standing position, wether Wolf was prepaired or not he was about to smash that door in. A black leather, hobnailed jackboot slammed against the door sending it crashing open revealing three naked creatures shamballing around on their hands and feet like animals hunting for food. Two were once furrs and the other possably human, it was hard to tell. Most of their fur was gone and their skin was thin and nearly transparent showing the muscle groups underneath. One looked to Tier and made a throaty croaking sound right before the MP 40 screamed sending little cones of lead it's direction and riddling it with bullet holes. It fell to the ground and squirmed in agony, it's mouth opened in a silent scream as the soldier panned his sub machine gun to the others. The two remaining creatures had hopped/shambaled their way toward the door with frightening speed while Tier sneered at them. He leaped backwards and opted to draw them to the confines of the doorway and let Wolf handle them with his blade, two mutants should be no trouble for the fighter.
-
Wolf leaped up from sharpening his balde and took ou the two stragglers. Wolf with a laugh said, "Sorry that I ran out like that. May blade wasn't sharpened when I came out here." He stood behind Tier, waiting to go on in their scouting mission.
-
"Matters not." Tier said flatly and not looking at the warrior as he kept his gaze fixed on the filthy room before him. He stepped inside and swept the area with his MP 40 and relaxed when he didn't see anything. "Clear!" He called, letting them know the room he was in was safe. The thick smell of blood and shit hung in the air where the two had slaughtered the trio of creatures who seemed to have voided their bowels wherever they pleased like animals. Tier curled his lip in disgust and looked back. "Watch where you step." He said discusted over the state of the room and pleased that they spaired the creatures anymore of their meaningless existence. He pushed his arm through the sling for his weapon as he began looking around and finding odds and ends that he thought would become useful in the construction of a panzerschreck. He found some of the pieces but he wasn't sure he had everything he would need. Loading up what he could he carried the parts back to the group for examination. "Their is some supplies inside and..." He paused looking at Moon curiously and blinked shaking his head like Well now I've seen everything! before he continued. "Err... Um, yeah.... Anyway, I think this might get us by on parts for something of a panzerschreck but I don't know for sure. I'd rather let you all take a look and tell me what else we may need. The Death Weaver might be down but how many more do they have? And how long do we have before they decide to swoop in low and tear us to shreds with fifty caliber machine guns?" Tier sniffed to try to clear his nostrils of the stink of the co-op building. "Personally I'd rather shoot them down so they don't have a chance to make another run."
-
"guys....i feel...sort of useless" muttered Kodachi. "i mean, all i have is a revolver... And i can barely use it!"
-
Looking at Max, Shade said " what happened in there?". Truing to Koda , Shade said " dont call your self useless, every one has a purpose in life, if you didn't you wouldn't be here". Shade puts back his ear ,wages his tail a little and looks at the ground, he wipes a tear from his eye.
-
"They say they want lots of death weavers in all troops..." she thinks back, then remembers her role in it "and that they want me so their troops don't die." she does not really understand what she is saying, and is just repeating words and sentences she's picked up. she watches what they are doing, hears Koda and quickly floats over and latches onto him in a hug. "We work together? Moon wanna help too."
-
Sitting in the smelly room, he watched everyone get along. Wolf wasn't really one of those "always talking" wolves. He was one of those "stay quiet" wolves. Then, he thought to himself, "I wonder how my pack is doing without me..." He then growled to himself, "Without me around, they wouls surely fall apart." He looked out the window and watched the grey clouds roll by, "But, this is all who I need right now. Friends and help."
-
"okay moon!" koda exclaimed. "lets work together to help out the others!"
-
max called from the entrance to the building back to shade "nothing much, i'll be in here if anyone needs me. just goin' to check the 'view' from the top floor." he climbed back inside and walked past wolf, he made his way to what was left of the top floor and looked out over the other buildings. he saw a slight glint of light reflect off something in one off the more distant buildings. he pulled out his rifle and looked through the scope. "sneaky little bugger. thought you could hide." he quickly went back down to the others "move very casualy in here, and don't act suspitious." he called from inside the opening before funning back to his rifle, sliding to a stop and switched on a small lazer pointer he had taped securly to the bottom of the scope, just above the barrel. "eye's up, find the source of the little red light."
-
Tier looked at Max and nodded slowly and eased his hand around the pistol grip of his MP 40. He began walking over to an opening in the crumbling wall to lean up against it in a seemingly lazy manner. He wanted some form of cover in beween him and whatever was out there with the ability to still shoot at whatever it was just in case they decided to get antsy.
-
Shade went to the other side of the door way ( or what was left of it). Leaning ageist the wall shade put a finger to his lips and turned to the other and waved slowly for them to come over. He said " theirs something on the roof, be quite and act normal." Turing back around he rouse his p-90 slowly so he can look through the iron scope.
-
max layed perfectly still, the feline in the other building now searching for th esource of the little red dot that wouldn't leave him alone while trying to hide behind a wall. the cat quickly came out of hiding and grabbed his rifle, pointing it in max's direction, finding max his eyes went wide when he saw the snow white fox givving him the finger. next thing the cat saw was a small wuzzle flash from max's rifle and the glass of his own scope givving way to the bullet in slow motion before said bullet ruptured the thin membraine of his eye and blew out the back of the brown tabby in a government uniform's head out and all over the wall behind him. "scoped" max quickly packed up his equipment and huried down to the others. "i say we should cheak that building just over there. see if theres anyone else in it."
-
Getting up from the floor, he peeked outside the door where Shade was. He could see the thing on the roof, but he would be useless with his sword. He never weilded anything except his sword. So, he sneaked around the building, protecting their other side, making sure nothing comes up from behind.
-
Tier nodded and looked to Shade. "Have Wolf come down here to defend the door just in case something gets past us. You and I can bound forward along with Koda if he's still close by and take that structure under the cover of our sniper. What do you think?" He asked gripping his MP 40. Tier already knew he would be assaulting the building since he had an automatic weapon but he wanted some support in the field. He had come to trust these creatures and rely on them somewhat for their combat skills and intelligence of analysing a situation where he would have just used the 'kick-in-the-door' solution.
-
Wolf gladly takes the position and watches for intruders.
-
Shade leans out a little to look around seeing nothing on the ground he looks back up to the roof and sees Max. Looking up to make eye contact he nod and wates to see if Max sees him.
-
Kodachi eventually came back with all the important stuff that was needed. "guys! Im back!" he exclaimed, unaware of the situation, and off the mutated thing behind him.
-
Koda whimpered, but drew his revolver, holdibg it steady.
The five rounds to it'4 face simply made it stumble back.
It appeared to have once been human, a bag held fast to it's head with barbed wire. The once human's bare torso was covered with pulsating spikes, as was it'4 arms. After stumbling it growled and swung a spiked arm at artyom.
"GI OY O ME NOW! I EAT OOD NOUR SH ME T" the thing screeched. appearently it wanted to eat Koda
-
Koda nearly dropped his revolver in the action, and looked up at artyom.
"what was that thing!,"
-
Tier turned with a snarl when the fighting erupted and relaxed somewhat when things settled down. He didn't say anything just took off bounding to the next available cover and then to the next. If their "friends" from across the street would be confused he deiced he would use the cover of gunfire and the occasional glimpse of a Vulpa running from the destruction to really get them worked up.
-
"what does malyutka mean?" asked koda, innocently
-
"thanks you", said koda, taking that as a compliment
-
max saw shade wave at him and sighed. "note to self....don't tell him where i'm hiding....and tell him why you never wave at a sniper....." he tilted the rifle and turned on the lazer sight, hitting shade in the eye with it before quickly returning to monitor the windows of the surounding buildings.
-
After the fighting, Wolf decided to go out alittle bit more and check down the streets to make sure nothing was coming. Then, he dropped is sword in his mouth was wide open, "What.... What is that thing down the street??? It's.... Huge!!" He picked up his sword and put his courage together, "I'm not scared! Come fight beast!"
-
Tier threw himself to the next available cover and clutched his MP40 resolutely. He was down to three full clips and another partial. It didn't matter too much as he had boxed rounds in his pack. The fact that he, like most Vulpa didn't carry food allowed most of his pack weight and room to be allotted for ammunition. A vulpa could always find something, or rather someone to eat. Chancing a quick look around the pile of rubble Tier caught a glimpse of their intruders. Fox like features, black uniforms, all too familiar weaponry... F*** my life! They're Vulpa! Tier screamed in his mind as he prepaired to call out to them. "545th Antikorper!" To which he was answered "737th Hollenglocken!" Tier stood up to watch four heads pop up over various barricades within the building and walked inside.
Allowing his eyes to adjust to the slight gloom Tier saw that these were Totenkoph Vulpa. The murderous Deaths Head legion. Tier was Waffen, or armed or frontlines, these Vulpa before him were the supposed elite, though in the eyes of Tier they were cowards and murderers. It was one thing to kill men women and children but some of the savage things Tier had seen their kind do sickened even him. One had a Panzerschreck while two others carried STGs and one held a MP 40. "Hungh. Antikorper. I thought your division got wiped during the First Assault. Good to see one of you all made it!" The Vulpa with the MP40 said with a smile and reached out to clap his comrad on the shoulder. Tier recoiled and took a step back his expression never changing and his tone taking a sharp edge showing them he harbored no love for these creatures who stood before him. "No thanks to you all. We survived. We didn't just 'make it' as you just so eloquently put it. Out gunned and out numbered we fought for our lives out their hoping for some support from the fleet, or better hoping for some support from our SUPPORT UNIT THE GLORYOUS TOTENKOPH!"
Tier shouted at them tightening his grip on his weapon before lowering his tone and seeming to calm down slightly. The Vulpa moved nervously watching Tier. It was not uncommon for fights to break out between branches many of them ending violently. "But that matters not. What does matter is I am here now and back with my own kind." The Vulpa started to relax a little when they saw he was not screaming hollering mad any more. "I want to know, do you all know anything about and Remnants, or governmental agencies operating in the area?" The one carrying the Panzerschreck spoke up. "Yeah, somewhere back there." He said pointing off into the distance outside. "There was a base of some kind. Never saw anyone outside but we saw a chopper land and them just disappear. Gotta be Remnants. We didn't have enough to assault it and came in town looking for any others until we found that building over there full of delicious pieces of walking meat, some of them nice and young and tender.. I was about to shoot the front when we heard some shooting and y-" "That's enough." Tier interrupted. "Who's in command here?" The speaker pointed outside and began talking again.
"Right out there. That was Second Lieutenant Lunklest but they had a sniper who put a maggot hole in him. We never even saw what happened until his head exploded." Tier mentally congraduated Max and had already formed a quick plan. Well unless you all intend on staying hungry here I'm going to go back over there. I left the corpses where they were, and you were right. Their were children among them. Tier turned around and started walking back as the small scuffle broke out behind him. "Hey! we saw em' first! Dibs!" "Ha! You backwoods idiot! Not if I beat you to them!" Tier called out playfully and started the race to the other building where his friends waited. All too easy. He thought as he slowed and allowed them all to run right past him the thought of flesh on their minds. Tier had banked on them all making far too much noise and by now Max could have shot them all a hundred times over if he had wanted to. Tier hoped everyone was still in some symbiance of position for what was about to happen. He stopped, raised his MP40, and opened fire on the Vulpa before him.
-
max watched over the procedings, he saw on of the vulpa point to the one he had shot and shortly after thought that tier had sent the others after him. he chambered a round and took aim at the group running ar him. patiently he slowly pulled the triger, everything slowing down in his eyes, a bullet ripped through the vulpa, then another, and another. max quickly looked up from the scope and what he saw left him speachless, he saw tier unloading a full clip into the backs of his own kind, members of the same army.
he quickly ran downstairs and into the courtyard where tier and the dead vulpa were, he walked over to tier and couldn't help but ask, "did you know them? and who did i hit?"
-
"Screw them." Tier said walking over to the Panzerschreck and picking it up. "We disposed of trash. Forget about those things. Hmm... four rounds. Gonna have to make these count." He policed more ammunition for his MP 40 and took the STGs and set them to the side along with their ammo. One of them had a pistol which he took and policed the ammunition for that as well. "Help me drag these corpses." He said grabbing two and backing toward a depression where a bombshell had went off. "Not even fit to eat!" Tier said tossing the bodies unceremoniously into a heap at the bottom of the hole. Once he was done Tier dusted his black lether gloved hands off as if they were unclean just by touching them. "Leave them to rot. Buzzards gotta eat. Same as worms. The sharpshooter is still over there if you want his ammunition or rifle." He turned his head and spit and walked away. Tier had no reason to hang around the corpse pile anylonger and stooped to pick up the weapons he had set to the side before entering the building to see the others once again. He held out the two Sturmgewehrs offering them to whoever wanted them. "Herr Max and I just took down a squad of Vulpa and gathered their weapons. These two are Sturmgewehr 44s. They're like an AK 47 in the since that they are an assault rifle. They have 30 round clips and use 7.92 caliber rounds. I have about four clips for each and they are up for grabs, whoever wants one." Tier conveniently left out the part about how he had murdered his own kind in cold blood, but he had also left out the part of how if he hadn't killed them they would have made every attempt to kill everyone here and he thought better to spare Koda and little Moon that little grisly detail. Though by gauging the look in Max's eyes and some of the peculiar looks he received from some of the other older members of the group he would probably have to explain himself later on.
-
max walked over to what was left of the rival sniper after dragging the other two bodys onto the pile. he picked up the rifle the vulpa had been using and was in awe. "an SVT carbine. nice, i have a spare scope for one of these back with my stuff." he looked through the old scope, not even a fragment of glass was left in it from when max's round went through it. he disconected the peice of junk and threw it into it's dead owners hands, blood and the liquid that filled it's eye still slowly dripping down asif the beast was crying from the almost un noticable hole in it's face. max walked over to the others with his new gun. he put his springfield into his bag along with all the ammo he found. "i've got about 20 rounds left for my springfield, 18 clips for my BAR and 30 clips for my new SVT carbine. thank god i found this bag of i wouldn't be able to carry as much." he comented attatching the replacement scope before looking up at tier. "tonight i'll take first watch, then tier can have second. everyone ok with that? lets get going."
-
"can....can i have one of those guns?" koda asked gently.
"i want to help next time. No more being useless." he muttered.
"And... I'll even stay up through the night"
-
Shade shut his eyes and leaned back, growling softly he said quietly " what was that for?". pearing back out he gave cover fire to Tier as he shot them. Walking out after the fire stopped he helped move the copes, looking at Max he said" what was that for ? i thought you where going to shoot me". Nodding to Koda, Shade said" sure take what ever one you want."
-
"i was proving a point. what if that hadn't been me? what if there was another sniper hiding in that building? then that lazer beam would have packed a bit more....'punch'. and rule noumber one about having a sniper covering your back, never give away their position." max said calmly standing up and walking past shade with his bag hung on one shoulder and his new SVT carbine on the other with his BAR in his hands. "otherwise you might not have a sniper covering your back for long."
-
Tier tossed Koda a rifle and handed him four clips. "Any takers on the other?" He was already weighed down enough with the Panzerschreck and his won weapons, in all honesty he really didn't need another. "Sounds good to me." He said to Max and looked back to the group. Walking over to Artyom he presented the rifle to him. "I won't be needing this. What I'm carrying is already enough without the launcher. It's not in too bad of shape, it's yours if you want it."
-
Koda held the rifle in his paws looking at it with astonishment.
"wow!" he says. "thank you!"
koda then readies the rifle and pretends to shoot some enemies that were not really there.
"pa pow pa pow!" he exclaims
-
Tier shook his head with a sigh. "I really didn't have a chance to look around. I can go back and check for you later though...." His voice trailed off and a disturbed look fell over his features as he saw Koda playing with a weapon that had more than likely murdered hundreds. Not that Tier was any better than the creatures he shot in the back, but it just unnerved him to no end and brought back some memories that were best left forgotton. "I... uh, I've got to go and check on something. You two take it easy ja?" He turned around and quickly walked away. Briefly he wondered where little moon was but he tore his mind from the thought of protecting her and focused on his own little harsh reality. You don't need to be around her to protect her, she can handle herself. It's better you just stay away and keep your distance. Otherwise she'll only wind up getting hurt in the end. Tier walked over to Shade and nodded in greeting as he approached. "I know it's a bit of a hazard because they have the tendencies of drawing unwanted attention but I thought I would ask you, would you like for me to build a small camp fire? Technically you're the boss since you are the one who's leading them to this place you speak of but I thought it would be polite to ask. I don't know what all everyone has but I know a warm meal and a camp light at night tends to make people feel better for some reason." He said with a shrug.
-
Moon had wondered off some time ago; she had grown abnormally curious as to what was going on that made it so they still couldn't leave. She snuck out by way of window, and with a rough tumble was floating outside in the fresh air. She knew to be careful, and while she explored the town with the intent of quelching her fears, she stayed fairly high as she flew, and hugged the roofs and sides of the buildings tightly so as to not be seen. Moon had heard too much gunfire, seen friends come back and forth too many times...if something was happening, she was perhaps best suited to discover on her own.
-
Shade nodded at Max and said " right, i understand." turning to Tier, Shade said " that would be grate, thank you." Heading to the
grocery store . who's two our of 4 walls have started to collapses he said, " There could be some food in there, ill be back in 15 minutes."
-
Moon saw Shade as he was heading to the grocery store, and quickly ducked for cover. Once safely hidden, she considered what move to make next. She knew she couldn't go too far...then they might start to look for her, or think she left them. But at the least she could try browsing the edges and outskirts of town. Every so often as she flew she winced, noting the multitude of dead bodies the town had to offer.
-
Tier nodded and turned away. Walking toward a simi clear area he gathered some stones together to form a circle and looked around for something to burn. Some timber from some old and unrecognisable piece of furniture and some strips of cloth would provide the fuel. He had not looked for Moon, in fact he had not looked for anyone unless he had needed them for somthing or had bumped into them. Something tugged at him telling him to run away from them. Telling him that he was only going to hurt them but he continued building his fire. He fished out his lighter and lit the strips of cloth and soon had a small fire before him for warmth and light and for cooking. He turned and looked to the group wordlessly the light playing shadows across his face. Slowly Tier turned away from the fire and walked over to the door to wait for Shade to return with food for the others and to keep some symbiance of a watch.
-
Moon wavered at the edge of town; there was nothing to report yet, still, a certain gleam off in the distance, amoung the rolling hills of the wasteland a few miles off, caught her careful eye. Her hands shook a little as she hugged the side of the building, maybe it would be better to turn back now, they could forget about her, or worse, get angry with her for giving into her superpowered itch and leaving...or they would never even notice she was gone, and when she came back, all would be okay. She floated out into open air, then up closer to the sky to make things faster.
She headed in the direction of the glare, something about it really irritated her. Hills passed below, featureless and dry, and when she finally arrived at the source of the glare, Moon both instantly and deeply felt that she had made a mistake. Underneath, three restored all-terrain vechiles in a line, black and shiny. She knew well whose they were, and while bringing back this info of restored, new vechicles upon the lands would prove useful, the very sight was unnerveing to the point she regretted going so far.
Clearly nervous, she began to turn back...only to hear the sound of a laser, loud and clear, the painful burst in her chest, and the blackness of sleep. She fell.
-
After a few moments of pretend shooting, koda felt something was wrong.
"moon!" he exclaimed. "where is moon!?"
he hastily readied his rifle and dashed into the open, shouting moons name and searchimg for her behind ever corner, under ever peice of debri.
"moon where are you!?" he shouted
-
max quickly ran out and tackled koda, holding his mouth shut. "listen, you can't just run out into the street and start shouting. who knows just how many people there are in this town that right now would shoot us both just for being in the middle of the street." max dragged koda back to the building and let him go carefully. "she was flying right? come with me." max lead koda to the top floor and handed him a pair of binoculars before grabbing out a pair for himself. "lets hope we find her."
-
Moon fell to the ground, hard. She had been too high to fall like this. Her right half was practically ripped from her left side, and her right arm lost completely, torn off. A heavy rock went right through her stomach, bursting it. Lucky for poor Moon, she didn't feel the pain, being out. And also luckily for her, she began to heal herself within one or two minutes of impact. The 'soldiers' that shot her gathered around her quickly, all aiming weapons at her as though they expected her to wake up and attack them, there was an uncertain fear amongst them. The six year old child's bloody body was gathered up, appropriately, into a body bag, and put in the back of one of the vehicles.
One of them was talking, probably the leader, and she could hear his voice drifting in her dreams every so often. He talked of how glorious it would be for everyone to be able to heal like she did, and how it would forever change the world once their scientists pinned it down. He spoke of his home once, but she lost that amoung the nightmarish terrors of her dreams...and reality.
-
"the thing that artyom killed" muttered Koda "what if theres more and what if they got moon!?"
-
The leader of the soldiers, a grey fox likely in his thirties, stepped around the first two restored humvees and called orders. "Send those two back to Base immeadiately." He pointed then at the car with the girl in it and the one behind it. "As for the others, they will proceed forward to the town and eliminate all threats within it...alien, crazy, criminal or desperate human I don't care...just push everything out of it. They say we're above such ape like boasting and revenge. But I say we've got four deathweavers to help us and a savage, weak town that's just begging to become occupied. If we want to reclaim this place for our own--- the remnants ---we'll have to start somewhere. Maybe in time we'll be called more than remnants. We shall be called the saviors of a world gone mad."
After his nice little motivational speech to his soldiers, the fox pointed at the second car from the front and nodded. "When you attack, get the little boy out front. Suprisingly, out of all of them, Atreyu's shown the most potential of all........if nothing else, he'll make a nice little sheild or diversion." Something in his eyes glistened for a moment. "Don't you dare tell Atreyu why he was here. He finds out Moon was the cause and he'll either desert or loose all his reasoning. We want to keep him tuned, obiediant, and on track."
***
Atreyu watched with little emotion as the groups of cars seperated out the window. He was in the back of one of them and had little leeway to make any grand escapes, not that that was on his mind anyway. Over the past while , he had succumbed to the life of a death weaver. The soldiers kept him fed and clothed. They didn't kill him or keep him locked in a lab as a continual test subject....this alone was enough to instill a sense of gratitude in the boy.
The wastelands were wild indeed, and the boy liked the comfort of pre-war beds, cars, lights that came with being prisoner to remnants. He sighed, watching the hills pass by as the cars sped to the 'savage' infested town in vue of attacking. The thought that the original scouts, those in the helicopter, had been killed frightened him...but he was a brave little soldier. A slave, but becoming a soldier nonetheless.
Atreyu waited patiently for the car to stop and him to be asked to make the first move.
-
max placed a firm hand on koda's shoulder. "don't worry. we'll find her." he kept searching and noticed two clouds of dust. one headed towards the town, and the other away. "this can't be good."
-
Searching the store for any thing left and editable, Shade found some dehydrated noms and water, gathering as much as he could he left. Looking out side Shade saw the dust clouds coming, running back he motioned for Tier to come to him as Shade ran in to the factory to meet the rest of the group. Looking around to see if every one was there he did not see Moon and asked. " Has any one seen Moon?". Slowly Shade put the scavenged noms to the ground he said " This is what i found, we will need a fire or some heat to re hydrate them with the water." Looking out down the road he sees the cloud of dust slowly getting closer he turned back to the group and said " we should lye low, for now". Turning to Wolf , Shade said " don't run out we don't know who, what or why this cloud is coming or even what in it." Shade though i hope there not coming for Moon.
-
"artyom" koda said, gently grabbing artyom's sleeve.
"what are those dust clouds?"
-
"tier and i can cover from the rooftops, i might need a spoter and he's the only one other than me who's well trained with a single shot as far as i know. you up to it tier?" max said sturnly looking over to the vulpa with a stonelike gaze. he then looked at koda, who was the only other person other than max and tier that had a single shot rifle on hand. "plus with that rocket launcher you've got might come in handy and would have a better range from up high aiming either up or down."
-
Tier looked to Max and nodded. "I got your back." He turned his head to Shade and Artyom and shook his head. "I apologize gentlemen but I think I'd be better directed toward defence. Moon seems to be missing and I got a bad feeling that we may need to mobilize as a combat force. Those dust clouds don't look too friendly and it'd probably be best if we came up with fall back points and boobytraps along the way. Shade, you seem to know this area best. We can use that to our advantage in the means of cover and concealment. Maybe start fires in various reasonable locations to throw any attackers off. Make it seem like we have a larger force than we really do and provide us a few seconds of concealment while they're trying to find out where the bullets are coming from. Artyom, you are one crafty son of a gun. I know you use that thing on top of your shoulders for more than a hat rack when you was talking about crafting me a launcher." He reached to his chest and took two four stick grenade bandoleers that he had picked from the corpses and handed them to him then handed a bandoleer to Shade. "Max and I will split up the rest. I know you two can cook up some nasty suprises with those. Koda is the smallest among us but also the fastest. I've never seen someone draw a pistol that fast until I watched him draw and fire on that thing I thought for sure was going to kill him. I think he should be our messenger or courier for relaying orders. He's small and fast and light and to be honest, he looks a lot less conspicuous than us. Wolf is a melee fighter. I'd say keep him with you because the son of a gun is handy in a pinch, that or post him up in a very close in area where the enemy would be forced to meet him in close quartered combat. I've got a feeling he can do some serious raping with those swords and claws of his given the right place at the right time." Tier blinked and shook his head and looked at them all as if seeing them for the first time. "I'm sorry, I got kinda carried away. You all know what's best to do, I'm sorry." And with that he turned around and began climbing the stairs to the sniper nest Max had established. His Kar98 did not have a telescopic sight like Max's rifle but that was just what he was looking for. Someone who could take shorter range shots and besides, at the moment he was the only one with a rocket launcher.
-
Koda looked up at tier curiously.
"you want me to be a messenger and stuff?" he asked.
Thinking for a moment, Koda then said "i'd love to help out! And..and if the enemy tries to kill me i'll just shoot them with this!"
he pulled out his revolver and set his other gun (cant spell the darn name!) to the ground.
"Id be a lot more inconspicuous if i keep the revolver, i can hide it in my clothes. And if the enemy comes along, i can pull it out and fire in an instant if neccicary!"
koda seemed to be filled with courage now, he wanted to save MOon that badly.
"im up to the task, gentlemen!" he exclaimed.
-
The cars with Moon and the commanding fox inside were long gone the other direction; these cars pulling up to the town were filled with soldiers. Atreyu was ordered to be the first out and forward, and the child did as he was told.
"Look at yourself as a messenger," one of the senior soldiers told him, gripping his shoulder as a falsely kind gesture. Behind him, the other soldiers joked about how they were just using the boy as a shield, a diversion. "We send you right out forward to talk to the enemy. Brave and in charge. With someone like you to lead, this town will be ours in no time."
Some of them scoffed. The ten year old boy started: "But-"
"No buts. The other death weavers will back you up and we'll come last. Do it. Run."
Atreyu gave them one last glance and began running towards what was heard as the source of the towns savage power, the factory. He stuck to the sides of the buildings to avoid fire and to make it harder to target him should anyone be watching.

Atreyu was a lithe, fast little lion cub, a blur of tan and soft yellow. He made it straight to the factory in question...before he looked back and realized that he had been lied to. No-one could be seen behind him, backing him. Apparently they wanted him to go it all alone, to return to them with a message before they followed. Jerks. It isn't fair...
The boy began to search for a a way in to take the savages by suprise.

"think fast." max said as he saw tier walking up the stairs. he threw a small scope, "it's not very powerfull but it should help. and it's eazy to quickly put on and remove." he pulled out both rifles and layed them down next to him along with his BAR and his ammo. "this could get rough, hope whatever it is isn't to smart." he noticed something moving down on the street out of the corner of his eye, he turned and looked threw his binoculars, the other pair of which he gave to tier, and saw what looked like a child creaping up the street. "what are the odd's that's going to ba a problem?...."
-
"Ah! Mr artyom watch out!" koda exclaimed, drawing his revolver and firing once at a 'used-to-be-human' as it ran at artyom. The thing appeared to be normal but with a pale purple tinge to it. Kodas bullet simply peirced it in the shoulder, and the thing went reeling back, grunting as it hissed , small bulbs under its skin pulsating
-
Atreyu was finally forced to enter through a side door. No-one so far, but he couldn't be caught off gaurd so held his laser pistol close to his stomach just in case. The lion cub traced his way around the silent maze, and hearing nothing for too long, called out loudly to the 'savages.' "Savages! We are remnants," he began, pushing himself up against one of the walls and slowly trapsing along. His eyes traced the area. "We mean you no harm should you agree to fall back and surrender this town to our noble cause. A cause which should indeed benifit all of kind, even savages." He spoke the words he was taught to speak. "...I, I am a death weaver. But that is no reason to fear me either. I was only sent as a messenger boy, you understand."
-
Koda yelped as the things head turned to a gooey mush under artyoms boot from being crushed so hard, but then breathed a sigh of releif.
"good job.." he said, looking up at artyom . "we make a good team"
-
(that....that SUCKS. i didnt think i was killing atreyu :( )
something clicked in koda's mind.
W-wha...tell moon?"
he whimpered. "oh god....artyom...what have we done!?"
-
(c-can we? That part made me all s-s-sad)
-
(lets. I feel bad killin atreyu!)
-
(done. my posts are gone and Atreyu is alive just waiting for a respone for his adorable speech)

(i cant delete my posts on my phone. T_T i feel stupid)

Tier looked through the field glasses and handed Max the scope back. "I appericeate it but I tend to think more clearly as a spotter with iron sights." He studied the child and a low gutteral growl rumbled within his throat. "Under normal circumstances I'd say just kill it. But it's your shot." Tier handed the binoculars back and unshouldered his Panzerschreck and his Kar 98. Hearing the child speak he raised his rifle to his shoulder and sighted in on his chest. Nothing fancy, he wanted to be sure to kill the creature if he had to fire. There was a comotion down staires that caused him to turn his head and he huffed respectfully. "They'll probably give the game up before we can pull the first shot. Let us stay focoused on large threats and let them deal with them if they get too close. Hopefully Artyom will give them the order to fallback then the need arises. He's got a good head on his shoulders. If we get overrun you'll need a place to high tail it to as well." Tier looked down at Artyom and nodded once. "Set it up. I want this to be beautiful." He and Max were now probably compromised but that mattered little now. "We can take him down or we can just wound him. One high in the shoulder the other right along the hip. It's your call." Tier was used to "honey pot" ing a target to torture, extract information, or kill others to make things easier for him. One thing was for certain though, with the arriaval of this child, things were about to get very interesting very fast.
((OOC)You're cool we'll just roll on and assume the best.)
-
Atreyu sensed and felt the sights on him, he heard the scuffle of the 'savages' moving about out of sight. His paw grew sweaty in it's grip on the gun, and suddenly he realized his superiors and Handlers had indeed sent him on a suicide mission...the boy didn't want to die yet, he still longed for a better life out there, for seeing Moon again. But there was also the knowledge that if he didn't do what they said, the remnants, and if they caught him after this mission, they would punish him so badly he might not survive that either. He could try one more round. "Please. I beg of you. See reason...all we want is this town, not your lives." The lion cub shook and teared up, nervous.
-
((OOC)I'm going to wait on serpington so we don't leave him behind in posts.)
-
(he even online?)
Koda peeked out from his hiding place at the little cub. Slowly he began to leave his hiding spot and approach Atreyu. "hi there!" he said, sweetly. "my name is Koda! What's yours?"
Koda seemed to trust this one, most likely because he was a child
-
((no i was about anhour into a nine to five shift at work. but i'm here now, sorry for holding you guys up.))
"keep an eye on him," max saw koda walk out and quickly aimed his new rifle at the kids head in case he took aim. "better yet, could you bring him up here? i'll cover. we might as well ask it some questions before deciding weither to shot it at the moment."
-
Tier nodded and picked up his Panzerschreck after putting his arm through the sling of his rifle and securing it to his back. He walked down the staires and stopped about half way to the doorway where he could get a good sight on the deathweaver posing as a cub and still be relitivly safe from the splash damage from the shrapnel from the explosive. "Koda! Get in here!" Tier wished desporately he wouldnt have to kill Koda or the youth but if this turned into a hostage situation the Waffen SS officer was not about to enter negoations unless he found himself outnumbered by the word of the group. The Vulpa looked directly at the creature and issued a low rumbeling growl from somewhere in the back of his throat. "Watch who you're calling savages, stain! If you are what you say you are then you and yours wont allow them to live and you sure as hell wont allow me to. Since you can talk then let's talk, keep your hands up in the air where I can see them and step forward. As soon as you are inside you will face the nearest wall and submit to restraints for questioning. After questioning you will be released and treated fairly and allowed to go home." Tier smiled wickedly at his words. He knew that if things went well that the creatures around him would not allow him to 'send him home'. It was a sick joke played by Vulpa by lureing a crature into a false since of hope inthat they would be released when to his kind to be 'sent home' was to die.
-
Maybe I don't want to go home... The cub cast a brief glance at Koda, then dropped his gun like it was radioactive and raised his hands. He stepped forward, more willing to surrender than to die, really. "There isn't anyone in this world anymore who isn't...so violent...wonder if Moon has given up too," Atreyu said halfway to himself, feeling like the worst sort of puppet, always pulled around against his will.
-
Koda turned around to see the guns pointed at the cub.
"guys calm down!" he said. "this little death weaver is just a child! How dare you raise your guns against him? Did you raise your guns against moon? No! So don't you dare raise guns at him!"
he then turned back to the cub.
"sorry about them..." he said. "my names koda though! What is yours?"
-
Shade nodded at Tier, and said " Yeah we should set up some fires around here, that would be grate to throw them off. we might not have time to do this though the clouds are getting closer. we should take our posts." Shade took his post near the door and watched as the others took thers. Seeing the lion cub walk in and hearing is story Shade slowly lowered his gun and said " sorry, nice to meet you iam Shade, whats your name?". Sticking out his paw to shake he smiled.
-
"It's Atreyu," he admitted because he had to. His fur was on end, wondering why they were so nice all of a sudden. He looked at Koda. "Moon? I know a Moon, she was my friend....and just who are you people anyway? My Handlers are gonna be following me any minute, you'd better get out of here." He hoped that they would tell him about Moon, since he had been searching for her for so long in vain, but he also told the truth. His Handlers and a pack of death weavers would be following up shortly. He sweat a bit in anticipation of their punishment for him not attacking the 'savages.'
-
"moon? Well, maybe we know the same moon! Shes a little kid just like you and she can fly!" koda exclaimed, petting atreyu gently
-
"What?!" He pulled away, not quite trusting the strangers. "How do you know her?" He got a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, as though he knew where this was really going.
-
"well we met her on our travels" koda said. "and me and her made a nice team, but not too long ago she took off..."
he looked down sadly, then smiled and looked up.
"wanna help find her?"
-
max shifted his position, his eyes opeded wide. "i recomend you all get back inside!" he called taking aim. he fired a single round from his springfield, putting a round threw one of the aproaching drivers. "NOW!! and tier, bring the kid with you."
-
Shade went to hide and weight to ambush them Shade cocked his Vetcor, put on a silencer ( the gun he got off of the mob they killed earlier) and aimed it. Not moving his head he said " If what you say is true, then you might want to stay with us. Dont worry we will not hurt you. Try to stay quite" and we will keep you safe from them.". The first solder came by with in arms reach of Shade, he took out his combat knife covered the solder muzzle and slit his thorough . Bring the body closer to him he hid it in the shadow's. Wiping his combat knife clean of the blood, he thought " Well thats one less."
-
"why?" koda asked. "why do we have to kill them?" he peeked out and saw a soldier, grabbed him and dragged him into the shadows, covering his mouth.
"please" koda whispered. "please make your people go away...we dont want to fight.."
-
Looking over to Shade and the dead body, Wolf ran near him, " Ughh... I have been knocked out from the thing I saw... What happened? I can see that you have a body there."
-
The soldier reacted uniformly, as expected and began to reach for his gun for protection, as well as prepared to throw Koda off of him...Atreyu came up to them, and said: "Go." The soldier's expression dropped, and he pulled free of Koda. He did as was told and turned tail, running back to the parked vechicles. Atreyu then turned to Koda..."They won't just leave. I know why they were here now. I can control them, but only one at a time...They came here for Moon and if they don't already have her, then they will soon enough."
-
But...moon is no longer here...if they got her..." koda whimpered, then turned to atreyu. "we have to save moon!"
-
Wolf's ears fliped up on this news, "I'll help save her." He said in a serious but friendly way.
-
max saw the soldier running back to his ally, not that he made it far. max put one through his chest, and watched him drop to the ground dead.
-
Thank you wolf!" exclaimed KOda, gribbing his revolver and peering out at some soldiers
-
Shade turned to Wolf and said ," they are coming here for Moon but we don't know where she is. keep quite we are going to ambush them." Watching in surprise as they left Shade looted the body for anything he could find of use, he found a map, a key , a gun and some ammo, takeing off the solder cloths he moved the body around back and barred it. Returning to the group he said " The one i got had a map and some other stuff on him" showing him what the solder had he wateied for there reaction. Going back to where the noms where left he said" we should perpaire some of this." Shade picked up one of the boxes it was noddles he read the cooking instructions.

He's going to get us f****** killed! Tier thought to Koda's words. He was about to take out a zip tie and restrain Atreyu when the fighting broke out. "S***, s***, s***!" Tier said slinging the panzerschreck across his back and grabbing for his MP40. "Artyom! Get the cubs out of here now! Fall back! Max and I will hold them here!" The Vulpa shouted before a soldier charged in through the open doorway. Tier turned with a look of pure murder shining in his eyes. He held the gun close to his chest as he turned with an elbow to the surprised soldiers face followed by another to the other side. Realising his grip on the weapon with one hand he grabbed the soldier and opened his mouth frighteningly wide revealing rows upon rows of shark like teeth on his upper jaw and his lower... mandibles which were opening down and to the sides. The soldier trembled in fear as Tier rushed forward trapping the mans head in his mouth and his secondary mouth shot forward. The thick, pointed, bony shell that covered his mouth bashed it's way through the mans nasal cavity and into his brain zipping in and back faster than an adder's bite and twice as deadly. The mans eyes rolled up into the back of his head as Tier released the corpse with the hole in it's face and looked to the others. "You've got to move! Now!" He jumped over to the door and threw himself against the wall before rounding the corner and hosing the approaching creatures with sub machinegun fire and throwing himself back as a hail of bullets flew in through the door. Tier was breathing heavily but he was able to select one of his stick grenades and pull the primer and chunk it backwards through the open door. "What the f-!" Was heard over the sound of rifle fire before the explosion sounded and Tier rounded the corner to hose the area again biting his lip before throwing himself back to the wall. "Wolf!" He hollered hoping the warrior could hear him. "Wolf! I need you to cover Atreyu and help them get out of here!" The sound of gunfire erupted from the street once again with some of the rounds chipping away at the corner of the concrete doorway just daring him to try and pull another one of his stunts again. "Christ!" He snarled at their tactic of keeping him pinned down while he tried to cover the others retreat. Tier had NO idea where Shade went and thought he had just crossed the street right before the first soldiers showed up. "If he is over there I hope he can find some cover and fortify his position for a while." Tier muttered to himself. He licked his lips as he brought his panzerschreck up to bear and waited for a lull in the storm of bullets and rounded the corner once more. "Eat it!" He shouted before fireing the rocket and hitting one of the jeeps sending it flipping over and over into the air above the fireball.
Three bullets quickly found their way into Tier's side before he could roll away and fall to safety. "F***!" Tier shouted dropping the panzerschreck and falling backwards to try and scoot away from the door. "F*** my life! F*** my life! F*** my life! F*** MY LIFE! Ancestors D*****! That one hurt!" He complained as he pulled up his MP40 and held it out one handed while he dumped the contents of his cylindrical medical pack. There wasn't much. Some morphine pills, a little meth, some ducttape, a few maxipads and and about six tampons, three of which were used to plug up the holes opened up in his abdomen to keep him from bleeding out. He paused to fire on a soldier who had gotton a little close and resumed to patching himself up. Opening his uniform one handed was slightly difficult but he managed and was able to place two of the maxipads over his gunshotwounds and rough tape them down. It wasn't pretty and it sure as hell would not last forever but it would keep him from bleeding out and at the moment that was all that really mattered. He grimaced mulling over taking some of the meth and decided to go ahead. He needed to fight if he was going to get those creatures to safety. Popping his pills he snarled and issued an unearthly roar as his eyes mysteed over red and the veins in his neck stood out. Foam dripped from his mouth and his ears pinned back as he stood and rounded the corner once again and began shooting at the assailants. Koda's STG44 was not too far away and he was able to shift fast enough and pick it and the clips up he had dropped before returning to the door. Another soldier had made his way to the doorway attracted by the allure of Tier's panzerschreck and found the Vulpa standing over him smileing Tier brought the butt of the rifle around like a Louisville Slugger and swung that thing like Micky mantle. There was a sickening crackle as the bones in the side of the man's face broke and Tier brought the weapon around again to knock him to the ground. The man curled into a ball and held out his hand pleading with the SS officer for his life but Tier was in a different world. He had changed, the "big brother" traveling companion was no longer their but a monster bent on killing. He was the same creature he was back when his jackboots had first hit the cobbledstone streets of London during the First Conflict when he and his kind began slaughtering people like cattle. Tier moved away from the corpse and fired through the door as a taunt to any still out in the street. He was about to hold that doorway and he was prepaired to go down fighting to do so.
-
max saw the coming on slaught and grabbed his two stand-by guns. setting up the three in order of range he opened up. downing three with his springfield before switching to his new rifle and killing another five before grabbing his BAR and just unloading three clips into the group indiscriminatly. as he loaded the fourth clip a loud roar echoed in his ears, images of his first incounter with the vulpa clouding his vision, for a mere moment he was walking down a nameless burning street in london along with seven other soldiers of diferent spices and races in a fireing squad formation, gunning down a pack of vulpa mercilesly before a loud roar ripped through the blood stained night, a vulpa comander jumped down behind the group and decimated it, even after taking a full clip worth of lead. max had been the only surviver of that attack, and that included the comander. then more images flooded in, this time of his second incounter with the vulpa, an incounter of very differing morals.
he was crouching in a mud soaked trench, foxes of all different ranks running past him as he stood up and fired before ducking back down to avoid a steady and constand mounted machine gun fire on their defending position. all of a sudden a shadow apeared before him, facing his enemy the vulpa lutanant opened it's mouth wide, showing off its teeth and mandables, as it let out a lowd howling roar while another hundred leapt over the trench and rushed the foxen army's enemys in a mass blood bath. after a second he had jumped up and let out a howl of his own and charged with his saviours, the rest of the foxs defending force following not long after.
max snaped back to the preasant. "well s**t, this could be interesting."
-
Koda growled, trying to hide his fear and dashed forward into the fray.
"disarm, now kill" he said to himself, over and over. The first soldier was too slow. By the time he turned his weapon to Koda, koda was up in his face. He kneed the soldier in the stomach, whacked him in the forearm to make him drop his weapon, and in one swift movement judo flipped the man over his body. He appeared to be unconsious. He grabbed the machine gun swung around, firing few shots to another soldiers stomach. He tackled the man to the ground whacked him once in the head and watched him go unconsious. He was dragging the sildier behind some boxes to keep him safe when in happenned. A bullet ripped through Koda's shoulder and ina scream of pain he fell to the ground
-
"Koda!" Atreyu's instinct for protection kicked in, a thing coming from his time spent with Moon, and he dashed through the fray as though it didn't matter. He was able to run so fast due to training at the soldiers' hands....he was supposed to be one of them even though he was a child, keen in battle. He found Koda and helped him up, minding the shot wound. "What are you doing? Are you stupid?" A soldier came up behind them in vue of a sneak attack, but Atreyu knew their tactics so well he saw it coming. He turned his head slightly to the back. "Go away," he growled, and the soldier did as asked. One of their weapons had--- turned against them, so to speak.
-
"i don't like killing..." said Koda, grunting in pain. "i....i dont want to hurt anyone!"
-
"You don't have to. But they're going to kill us if we don't stop them somehow. You know they aren't going to listen to negotiations....I hope Moon got out of this place." He looked around sadly as though he might see her coming up out of the fllying dust and limp bodies.
-
"ungh..." kodachi squeezed his eyes shut. "it hurts....i cant very well shoot now with my arm like this..."
-
"Let's get you out of here then...it's too dangerous, especially if you're hurt..." Atreyu began to help Koda back to cover, his arm slung under his for support. Then a sharp sound flew by his ears as a tranquilizer dart planted itself in his neck...they still wanted him alive after all he'd done against them, or at least alive for now. But the boy refused to be hazed. He had to protect Koda. He made it all the way back to the enterance before collapsing in both pain and sleep.
-
"atreyu!" exclaimed Koda. "c-crap....."
he used his good arm to hold atreyu close and sloppily grip the revolver. He was right handed so this was difficult. "im gonna protect you" he said, holding out the gun. Only four shots...better make em count
-
Tier was laughing and shouting obscenities at his attackers in German as he fired on them from the doorway. He reached down and in a brash, and idiotic move, he charged from the safety of the building and ran for the crater in the center of the street where he had dumped the dead Vulpa. Something in his sick mind had a plan. Bullets chewed up the rubble strewn ground behind him as he sprinted and dove for the crater and landed on the bodies with a smile. The soldiers waited behind the cover of their remaining jeeps and the rubble that littered the street in heaps. Four Vulpine heads popped up from the hole and automatics fore lanced it's way from the position as one of them got up. They shot at the creature running towards them only to see in their horror that it was infact only one Vulpa that was charging them, the other was just a corpse being used as a shield! Tier had ditched his panzerschreck and his Kar98 to be able to run faster carrying the corpse as a shield. The soldiers poured rounds into the bloated chest of the long dead enemy only to have it flung at them to land in a bloody heap as Tier cleared the first barricade. The Vulpa was upon them like a nightmare using his combat knife and one-handing the MP40. Whoever he got close enough to he used his teeth on. One soldier made to riflebutt the monster among them only to have Tier dip down under the swing and rush in close to bite into the mans neck and rip it out. The soldier gurgled and reached to his throat allowing Tier to stab him and use his corpse to fire from as another shield. Soldiers were pouring lead at the creature but at least he had their attention directed on him and would hopefully be able to buy the others a little more time. Falling back the soldiers bounded their way away from their jeeps abandoning them to Tier to fire on him from large piles of rubble further away. Tier crouched by a jeep and shook the corpse from him dropping his MP40 and letting it dangle from the shoulder strap as he reached for the STG44 and began firing three to five round bursts at them in return. Having them leave the jeeps was somewhat of a priority to Tier as he wanted to see if they had mounted machineguns he could use against them.
-
"dont worry about me..." growled KOda.
"it is atreyu that needs help...he got shot with a weird dart!"
-
max watched tier dive into the ditch and smiled. "those sick vulpa, theyed probibly yse their own mothers as shields if they had to." he gathered his gear and jumped down into the street, running up to join tier. "having fun there? or are you just this twisted by nature?"
-
Shade turned and round hearing the foot steps of an soldier behind him, shade takes qucikely turns around and punches the solder in the head knocking him out, taking the soldier shirt of and ripping it shade tied the soldier arms together be hind his back and keeped him hidden. Shde said" you will be good for questing when you come to".
-
Out of nowhere, a soldier seemed to appear before Koda. With a gun.
"STAY AWAY!" he shouted, firing into the soldiers gut, angrily.
the soldier collapsed, his weapon falling out of his hands. he was an enemy, all right.

(I'm not moving time forward for you guys so keep going where you are, just doing it for her only since she has a five hour drive between being caught and waking up)
Five hours later, Moon awoke with a slightly furious start, but quickly realizing she couldn't see or move at all she went into a sort of shut down mode in panic, growing colder, freezing up and fearing the worst. She felt hands pick her up and carry her, and heard sounds of footsteps underneath. She heard scary things as well, familiar sounds of airlocked doors shifting open and closed, scattering soldiers, timed alarms and the familiar whoosh of cold storage. She was in a base. Suddenly her heart slowed and she felt colder than before.
It was a long time before they took her out, seeing as how they took her down four stories to a basement level and through maze upon maze of dim lights, hallways and security doors.
When they finally arrived at her room the guards took her out carefully as though not to hurt her but really in fear and caution. It was less of a room, really, more like a cell with its security camera and barren floor. Her bed was the right size for her, but was equpped like a crib, metal bars around all sides. They attached a collar around the limp child's neck and put her in the bed.
Quickly Moon thought to escape, a child's flight of fancy, and started to climb out of her bed, but as soon as the collar on her neck reached the height of the crib's third bar, an excruciating shock pinched her nerves and sent her howling in pain back down to a laying position. It was a shock collar. The third bar on her crib set it off...now escaping was an even more distant dream.
-
Tier ducked his head instinctively as a bulett whanged off the jeep and shot off into the distance. He scoffed at the sniper before blindfireing around the jeep and tucking back to where he was to drop the clip and slap in a fresh one. "I had to take thies jeeps, they've got mounted weapons. That one over there," Tier said nodding in the direction of the other jeep. "Has a mounted machinegun on it. This one has some form of heavy lazer. If you could provide me with a little covering fire I can tear a** across over there and take that gun while you post up on this one. No since in wasting our ammunition if we don't have to. Between the two of us we can probably wipe them with thies heavy guns but covering fire or not, I'm gonna be pretty exposed during that little run. That' jeep's about thirty yards away and I think there's still a good ten or fifteen of them posted up behind that rubble." He offered Max the STG44 since it was somewhat of a throwaway weapon anyway. He had two clips left for it counting the one he had stuck in it right now. "I'f you know of a better idea on rapeing thies sons of guns I'm all ears. Work smarter not harder you know?"
-
Shade looks through the scope on his Vector at the up coming AV , seeing no wind shield, he takes aim and fires a few shoats. Three hit the drive one right between the eyes , one through his thorough and the other through his left arm. The drive dies with in second blood pouring out from the wounds it covers his uniform in dark red along with the seats. The AV accelerated and crashes launching the passenger soldier out out of the AV and hitting the wall of a building.
" Got to birds with one stone " Shade said. Knowing his possession might be compromised he quickly runs for cover to another building, leaveing the solider he knocked out from ealer there, looking through his vectors scope to see if there is any one on the roof tops, he sees none, looking he sees a squad of soldiers headed towards Koda and Atreyu, opening fire on the squad , Shade takes out three of them and wounding two, checking his Vector for ammo he notes that there is only enough for a few more round.
-
Koda whimpered in fear clutching atreyu close to him. Through the spray of blood he screamed at the top of his lungs. "PLEASE STOP! PLEASE EVERYONE JUST STOP!"
-
"yea, i got a plan....." max smiled evily at tier before running to the drivers door ofthe jeep. "give me a sec toget this thing started and we'll go for a combo multiplyer." he joked opening the door and hotwiring the jeep.
-
Tier grinned and began crouch-walking around the jeep firing as he went. All he was really trying to do was just keep their heads down long enough to where he could provide Max and himself some cover. Reaching the rear of the vehicle he quickly climbed in and grabbed the mounted weapon. It was a 37mm laser cannon, the kind they had used to take down Moon. He leveled the barrel on a pile of rubble and squeezed the firing mechanism. The barrel made a loud chuffing noise and the laser hit the rubble burning a hole in some of the rocks and burning away at two of the soldiers. One of the soldiers ran screaming from his position as his uniform caught fire and Tier laughed manically. He panned the weapon to another position and fired again and again and again reveling in the carnage and bloodshed, the screams of the dying and terrified ringing in his ears like the sweetest of music. Though he was rather exposed on the mounted weapon there was a blast shield that offered a good deal of protection. He wasn't fully covered, no, but he was able to keep the main bulk of the soldiers pinned down and scattered so that they could not make an effective push on their position again. One group had slipped by him though without his knoledge and was headed for Atreyu and Koda, gunfire drew his attenchion to thier position to allow him to see a few of them drop to Shade's weapon and Tier turned his concentration back to the main threat. They would have to deal with that on thier own until he and Max could either clear or thin this group to where they were no longer a problem.
-
max lisened to tier laughing and sighed. "hes way to much like general tezin. in more than just spices." he slamed the jeep into reverse and backed up and straightened out, aiming the car before sliding down out of sight. "hay tier, see if you can figure out who taught me how to drive on a warzone." he floored it sending the heavy jeep flying at the rubble, up and over the enemys improvised cover and slid to a stop sideways, on two wheels, with his bar fireing out the window.
-
Tier gritted his teeth as the jeep as the jeep cleared the ramp and skewed to a halt allowing him to began razing the enemy position with the heavy weapon. "Where'd you get your license, Tijuana!?" He shouted jokeingly over the heavy thudding of Max's BAR and the tinkeling of shells hitting the ground like rain.
-
Shade waited to see if any one was coming, no on did, knowing it was safe ( at least for now). He went out to get the "ource of information" of where Moon is, he draged it back to where Koda, Atreyu and Artyom where.
-
Koda looked up at shade innocently. He was exhausted.
"mister shade...." he muttered. "i'm really sleepy..."
he yawned, closed his eyes and held atreyu close to him.
"so sleepy...."
-
Sometime later, a tall mink, handsome for his age, arrived in Moon's cell. He was not a soldier, more along the lines of an Overseer. He came to her crib with a smile on his face and leant over it. She blinked and carefully looked up at him, clearly unhappy, one hand on her shock collar. "I had to see you for myself. Don't worry, little one," he said and reached in to stroke her hair away from her face, "if you behave, we won't make you stay here much longer, and we'll get that nasty collar off of you. Promise." She said nothing, and he kept petting her. "I used to have a daughter once. I told her I'd take her to the paradise, that place away from all the war, so untouched and pretty..."
-
Shade nodded. " go to sleep ill watch over the both of you".
-
max laughed as hi BAR began to emit a loug 'clicking'sound rather than bullets, meaning the clip was empty. "licence? my comanding officer tore it up. aparently he didn't like the way i was taught to drive back when the vulpa and fox armys join forces. not many people know about that, not many that wern't there that is. i learnt to drive of someone you might of heard of, his name was general nish tezin. he lead a group of vulpa that saved my life along with about a hundred of my allys from an attacking force of tigers." mex got out off the jeep, reloading as he did.
-
Tier jumped down from the mounted weapon and began walking back over to the crater where his weapons were. "I know the ones who helped. They're dead now. Well, most of them are anyway. Most of the Waffen seem only conserned with the mission of finding that paridise place they all talked of and the Totenkoph are too stupid and too brutal to try to help others." He reached the spot and picked up the panzerschreck and his Kar 98 to run his arms through the straps. He grimaced as the strap touched his left side where he had been shot but other than that he didn't make any indication of real pain. "I have little faith in civilization and even less in mine. I'm just waiting until it's my turn to pay for what I've done. Life has a way of punishing you when you do something bad. Do somehting bad enough it can take a while, kinda gives you time to think about what you've done like waiting for an axe to fall on your neck."
-
"no....dont go..." koda mumbled in his sleep.
-
Atreyu rapidly grew adjusted to the drug and rejected it, darts being only a minor irritant to his system, waking slowly and looking at Koda, Rob and Shade above. A painful pang of regret came over him and he honestly felt like killing himself then and there for the pain he had caused this group, and the blatant disregard for Moon's situation. The things he could have advoided had he not been looking out for only himself. He cast a sad look at his fellow boy and said: "I'm sorry" as straight forward as he could.
-
"yea, i remember the old man talking about some fantisy land as he called it. sounds like you two would have gotten along like brothers. he lead a group independant of the main bulk of your forces. he and i started that little rebelion i was part of, we actualy fought part of the vulpa army, side by side. hundreds of vulpa on oneside, thousands of wolves on the other. about three hundred mixed spices fighting them both in the middle. not many of us left that bloodbath.....including nish." max went dark towards the end, looking at the ground while sitting with his back against the blood splatered ruble. "it seems we have somethings in comman....we're both fearless in the face of the enimy, we both hate most of eachothers and our own armys, we both are army deserters.....and we both seem to have lost alot of people we cared about."
-
Atreyu smiled at the thought that Koda had given hope to someone. He pulled out materials he had been supplied- a stimpak, some paste and gauze, and treated Koda's wound properly, careful not to wake him and replacing the gauze and cloth at the end. "No need to forgive me," he told Koda and left him alone to sleep. He had nowhere to go anymore and would rather be dead than anything else, so retreated behind the wall and pulled out his knife, slowly beggining to draw it across his own throat, not suicidal for emotion but suicidal for the fullfillment of honor in his own mind.
-
Shade watched has the solder he captured re gained his contoness. " Hes could have information on Moon and where they took her" he said turning to the others.
-
Tier nodded to Max's words and walked in to the structure and listened to Artyoms words soberly. He was right. They all had lost but the thing about it was Tier was once part of the cause of that loss. He walked over to where the fire had already burned out and sat down with a sigh as he looked at Arteyu and began sifting through the ashes to find a good coal or two for which he could rebuild the fire. "You know, I don't blame you for bringing them here." He began as he added some tinder to the hot coals and produced a small flame which he began to feed back into a proper camp fire. "Deathweaver or not you're just a cub and what they sent you on was a suiside mission." He opened his jacket and snicked at the bloodstaines on his tan shirt. "Well, that's ruined." He complained as he opened his tan shirt and checked his bandage. It looked like hell, but at least he wasn't bleeding out or anything so he had to put that into the win coloum. He leaned back with a groan and left his shirt open to allow the wound to breath somewhat. It had beeen a while since they all had had a decent bath or shower and Tier supposed letting the wound get a little air wouldn't hurt it any. Scars traced his body like landmarks on a map. Ofer his athletically fit frame a long diagonal slashmark where he had been opened up by a machete ran from his left pex to his right hip. Stab wounds still unsetteled the fur and shown like a beacon one right over his heart the other under his left pex. Two puckers of bullet wounds graced his upper right shoulder, and left hip. The numbers 545 were tattoed onto his left pex and shown in stark black against the once creamy white fur of his underside. "Crap that hurts." He said removing the bandage to examine the wound. It had been a lazer rifle that had hit him so there would be no bullet to chase and pluck out but it hurt bad enough as it was. He decided to leave it alown for now and leaned back letting his body rest as much as he could afford. He had lost a good bit of blood and had managed to keep his body from going into shock with the dugs but now that he was comming down from them he was feeling kinda tired and felt the need to catch a quick nap.
-
Koda slowly opened his eyes, looking around, and saw that Atreyu was awake now.
"oh good" he said in an exhausted tone. He still wasn't fully awake yet as he sat up straight.
"is.....is everyone okay?" he asked nervously. "nobody is hurt...right?"
-
Atreyu felt a pang in his hiding spot and lowered the knife. Maybe it would be better to kill himself later, to avoid traumatizing this group. He came back out and slid the knife back in his shirt as though nothing was wrong. "I'm doing fine," he confirmed, and looked to Koda as he sat down in the circle. "The question is, did my healing do anything for your wound? Or is it still pretty bad?" he asked Koda. He heard Tier try to comfort him and he smiled slightly.
-
Koda blinked.
"healing....?" he attempted to move his injured arm, and it did without any pain.
"wow! Thank you atreyu!" he exclaimed, tail wagging
"it feels so much better!"
-
max walked over sitting his guns down next to tier and looking over at atreyu. "your lucky though. i was ready to do to you what i did to the last three deathweavers i fought." he smirked nodding slightly in the direction of the black splater from eirlier. "so what now? we can't stay here, we've got two jeeps and we've definatly going after moon. any idea where to start looking?"
-
Tier opened one eye lazily and sat up with a grimace and looked at the device. "Each Model 43 stick grenade has a blast radius of about 12 or 14 yards. You'll have a delay of about 4 to 5 seconds so they're similar to any other grenade with the fuse but the blast isn't as large. Hmph. A good M67 is what? Twice? Three times that?" He shrugged and began again. "It's ok though, M43 you can throw farther because of the handle. Now as for that," He said pointing to the device. "I'd say that's probably about the equivalant of a decent brick of C4." He chuckled lightly holding his injured side. "I know one thing, I wouldn't want to be caught in the blast radius of that thing because it's going to fling shrapnel everywhere." He stood up and began putting himself back together to make himself a little more presentable again. "Heh. Nevermind the explosion, that thing's going to fling debris in all kinds of directions. So ladies and gentlemen, what's the plan? Roll up and kick in the door, or deception and stealth?" He looked at Arteyu indicating he was part of a plan he was already forming in his head. "I've got a decent idea in mind if you all want to hear it, but I'd like to see what we all come up with and we can decide from there."
-
Atreyu cast a half angry at himself and the remnants, half horrified at what had happened to Moon type of look at the ground. "I honestly don't know where they took her," he said. "For Moon, it would be a different place than where they kept us. I'd think they'd keep her in an actual base for protection, probably underground, deep vault, high priority sort of thing. But I've never been to a base myself. You might be able to get it out of him though...Or maybe I could get it out of him. " He smirked in the direction of Shade and the hostage soldier. "Would be fun to use this ability against the ones who gave it to me." He lost the smirk a little bit, remembering that the soldier would probably rather die than cave in, whacko religious types, all of them. But trying was better than nothing.
