Title: Plaster Heads
Post by: Zahrah on January 07, 2011, 09:57:53 PM
I see some people making plaster heads and using them to make their fursuit heads. I thought about doing this, but it scares me just thinking about doing it. I was wondering if anyone knows someone who has experience in making them and if I'd be able to buy one later. I just figured it would be easier to make a fursuit head that way instead of having to try everything on to make sure it's right all the time. Also, would be nice to have something to hold the head while I'm working on it.

I dunno anything about fursuits but I know my good fair share when it comes to plaster masks made with strips. And if you do them right, they can be pretty sturdy and light to some point (I imagine you won't strain them a lot with lots of weight). The problem is knowing how to make them sturdy without wasting a ton of plaster. If you want any tips on that, just ask me. :)

Could just buy a mannequin head thing for a few bucks.

This is one I found, but there are other places you can find them online: http://www.bonanza.com/booths/wrightsfashionplace/items/Styrofoam_Mannequin_Hat_Craft_Foam_Wig_Head_Display

Once we made masks at my school, we first made a plaster mask, then covered it with a fat lotion on the inside and then filled it with plaster...
