Title: Rant/Advice: How do I express myself
Post by: Twice-Bitten on December 11, 2010, 04:44:47 AM
Hello all,

Wanted to start with a bit of a rant about myself. I have emotional barriers and I like to bury anger and sadness deep inside, which is obviously not healthy.

SO! I was wondering what are some things I could do to help better express myself. I know one of the most common is drawing but unfortunatly I was never blessed with any artistic talent so what are some other things you guys and gals do to help pull out the anger and sadness?

I try to stay away from medication :P but I'll jam to some music while I try my hand at writing. Thank you for the advice

Well drawing is actually a good way of expressing yourself. I can't draw either (or so I thought) but I ended up with a lot of blotchy, scratch style portraits of a lot of cool stuff. I found my style as someone who has no idea of what they're drawing...it just sorta ends up on paper without orginal thought or planning. I start with a line, connect it to another, make a shape then an hour later, it's a dude ripping his own heart out :P

I thought it was pretty sweet. Don't give up on something just because you think you're bad at it. You just havent found a way around you're weaknesses in something you like doing.

You can always go with the arts like those before me said (Writting, drawing, etc) but it also helps to vent to someone, and if you're comfortable with it, you can always come to me if you just need someone to listen to your problems. :)

I write facebook notes, and before that bebo notes.. A bit like blogging really.. Its all cryptic, so no one really knows who or what its about, but its all from the heart and it gets it all out!! Its worth a try, I always feel so much better afterwards.. If you don't feel comfortable doing it publicly, just write it down in a diary or something.. Once you get into the swing of it, you write without really thinking and a lot of the time I'm shocked by my own feelings!!
Hope you find a way soon.. PM me if your ever feeling too down, I love to help people
