This is an idea I've had in my head for a very long time and I wanted to see if anyone wanted to play along.
Plot
It's the year 2054 and there's an all out war going on between the fur species of earth and the dimensional species known as sergals. The sergals are ruthless killers led by a sergal general named Viktor and he was a ruthless killer, didn't care who got in his way of his goal. Many have died but Many serviving furs have teamed up and stood up against the menace. Many battles have been fought with hand weapons like spears and sword and many with fire arms. One leader is Lucius henrik, a fox that has been a battered warrior of this invasion.

It was the Early evening, the sun was setting behind the hills as the campsite of the traveling resistance group rested from a hard day of fighting. Inn the biggest tent in the center of the camp was lucius's tent. He had an old tv going, it was an old HDtv from the turn of the century. He was laying on his cot thinking about tomorrow, he was always worried about the next day, wondering how many of his men could possibly be killed in action. He watched an old show that was on before the war started, the fox was also sharpening his knife as the show played.

Okay, I reckon this could be interesting so imha take a shot at it ;)
(Though can I recommend making an OOC thread, where people could post their characters when they want to join/ask about the rp?)
Name: Kitt Va' Szarda
Age: only 16
Species: East European Wildcat
Specialty: Artillery spotter/officer
Weapons: The ever trusty AK-47 and the firepower of the artillery under his command
Rank: Officer of the 'Red-Star Battalion'
Short bio: The Red-Star are a battalion who continue to fight back against the Serval invaders. They act as mercenaries to other armed forces who fight to protect earth. Kitt, young and the son of the current Red-Star leader is well known in the battalion for being one of the best artillery officer to date.
-------
The enemy camp was visible in every minute detail through Kitt's binoculars. He adjusted the focus and infra-red wavelength, bringing the image into even sharper visibility. He lay, up to his knees in mud and covered in grime, behind the cover of scrub that dotted the opposite hillside to the camp.
Dropping the binoculars back down Kitt reached for the radio. Extending the aerial he spoke quickly and with a thick accent "Units five through nine, fire on my command at the pre-given co-ordinates....... FIRE!" From behind the hilltop there came a mass rumble and missiles streaked through the sky towards the enemy camp. The barrage hit home a moment later as volley after volley of explosives sent up great gouts of flame and earth.
Kitt grinned, already scrambling back up the muddy slope, lone figure slipping and sliding but grinning all the same as the serval camp was destroyed utterly. At the top of the hill a jeep rolled into view, stopped to let Kitt dive in, and then skidded back down the other side out of view...
-
Lucius heard the sound of artillery fire in the distance and he stepped out of his tent and he rushed the edge of his campsite and he saw the shells impact somewhere very far away from base camp. He smiled as he saw the impact zone burn as the shells hit there mark. "nice shot." he said as he walked through his campsite and observed his men as they rested from a hard days work.
He soon returned to his tent and he went over to his radio and tried to contact the artillery battalion that decimated the enemy's campsite. "unknown artillery, this is Lucius Henrik please respond."
-
max walked over to the large tent. "sir, i got those scout reports for you." he said quietly looking over at Lucius.
-
The truck shook and rumbled, thick-tread wheels churning up mud as it drove past artillery vehicles of all shapes and sizes. It finally stopped and its engine fell silent. Inside, Kitt leant back against a crate of munitions and sighed "Mark off that last camp Vladamir..." The fox who sat opposite him leant over to a map and deftly crossed out the encampment. A line of crosses weaved its way over the map, showing the trail of destruction sown wherever the Red-Star battalion went.
Kitt sighed again and lit up a cigarette, dragging deeply on the wretched thing "We keep killing them, but there are always more... Thirty-fifth camp destroyed now?" The fox grunted and lit up his own cigarette "Thirty sixth sir-" The conversation was interrupted by the radio.
With a squelch of muddy fatigues, and accompanied growl of annoyance, Kitt stood up, picked up the headset and slipped it on. He fiddled momentarily with the dials and then replied gruffly. Without the aid of vision, it would have been hard to distinguish his tired and gruff voice from an adult's rather than a sixteen-year old "This is Red-Star battalion, commander Va' Szarda here... Please identify, and if you are allied with the Servals, please also give your current cor-ordinates so we can blow you off this earth..."
He laughed, drily and with no real emotion. Vladimir growled and shook his head disparagingly...
-
"this is commander Lucius Henrik of the 12th infantry and were allies to the species of earth, not the sergals." he said over the radio as he reached into his cooler and pulled out a beer and popped it open. "I saw your bombardment earlier, I was very impressed." he said as he sipped his beer and fiddled with his knife.
-
Kitt laughed again, taking another deep drag on the cigarette "You liked our little display did you?" He smirked and raised an eyebrow at Vladimir. The fox grunted and stood up, climbing out of the truck. Kitt leant back against the crate of ammunition and adjusted the headset slightly "If you are close enough to see the attack, you must be close to our position indeed... Perhaps-" he paused and took another drag "perhaps we can arrange something. You have supplies? Food, water, fuel? We are in need of these things... What we have in large supply to give in return is the firepower we have displayed."
A light rain started, pattering over the canvas covering of the truck and spattering over the already churned up mud. Kitt groaned and leant over to a small electric heater. It hummed into erratic life and glowed deep orange, slowly warming the inside of the truck "What say you, Lucuis? I have twelve rocket artillery vehicles, five bombard mortar carriers and two Anti-air units and many others... All are low on fuel though, and rations are low. If we could meet and arrange the deal?"
-
"I did indeed like the show." he said as she sipped his beer and smiled. "we indeed have supplies, but we need guns and ammo." he said as he leaned back in his seat as the rain started to fall. He walked over to the window flaps and he closed the windows to his tent and went back to his radio and put his headset back on. "Im willing to make a deal with you commander Va' Szarda, our coordinates is map grid 804532."

-
"That is indeed close to my own position, which I needn't bother giving to you. We are on the move so often that it would mean nothing the next time we move out." Kitt took a final drag on the cigarette and stubbed the smouldering butt out on the crate beside him "I shall meet you outside your camp, though I warn you now. Double-crossing the Red-Star would not do you or your men well..."
He hung up the receiver and jumped out of the back of the truck, landing with a splash of muddy water. Striding round to the front of the vehicle he knocked heavily on the drivers door "We are moving out comrades!"
======
Several hours later the artillery convoy rolled into view of Lucius' camp. The vehicles where all covered in camouflage netting and mud splattered up the sides, creating a far better camouflage than any that could have been painted on when the vehicles where new.
The main body of the convoy stopped several hundred metres away from the camp, and a single jeep separated, bouncing and swerving along the muddied ground. The jeep was obviously the envoy, red flag fluttering from the radio aerial as it neared the camp entrance...
-
max walked over to the large tent. "sir, i got those scout reports for you." he said quietly looking over at Lucius.
"thank you max." he said taking the reports and he looked over them, it was the usual stuff. The fox studied them and he found some positions of enemies that were close by andante would have to deal with them later.
==========
While the convoy rolled up onto the edge of his camp the fox stood their at attention. The young fox was impressed with the convoy and how well done it was camouflaged. The fox had a smoke in his mouth as he saw the jeep stop near him. Next to the fox on both sides were two soldiers protecting him at any given time.
-
The jeep door swung open and Kitt jumped out with a splash of mud. No one else followed, for he had been alone in the jeep, and walked on his own towards Lucius. He paid the two guards no attention, fixing Lucius with a curious stare. There was a certain swagger to his walk that even a liberal soaking of mud and grime could not take away from him.
Behind the young officer, the convoy had not stayed still. Instead, cannons where raised, shells prepared and missiles aimed. All pointed towards the camp. Kitt finally came to a halt, mere paces from Lucius. His uniform was so caked in mud that it original colour was un-discernible but for a single red star sewn in at the shoulder.
He nodded "Commander Lucius, I presume. I must warn you that every gun in my battalion is aimed at your camp. If any harm comes to me, I die... But so do you and all your men. Please forgive me, but I do not tolerate traitors..." He paused and cleared his throat, suddenly smiling "Come, we have business to talk of..."
-
Lucius smiled as he watched the wildcat approach him, he was surprised to find out that the gruff sounding commander was a sixteen year old boy, but anyways he impressed with him. He looked at the boy as he came to a stop in front of him.
"no need to worry commander Va' Szarda." he said as he turned around and he motioned him to follow. "yes we do, let's talk in my tent." he said as he walked back to his tent with him. On lucius's neck was a necklace made of the fangs of fallen sergals. As the two walked through the camp lucius's men stood to one side.
Soon they arrived at his tent. The fox opened the canvas door of his tent to the feline.
-
"i see you like my ship." max said walking back into the hanger and noticing halfeb looking at the scout craft he flew in with.
-
Adjusting his red beret, also caked with mud but nonetheless worn proudly, Kitt looked around the camp curiously. He ducked below the canvas flap of Lucuis' tent, glancing quickly around the space within. He grinned "We keep very mobile, sleeping in the trucks or artillery vehicles themselves when the trucks are in use... I forgot quite what it is like to have a more permanent place, even if it is only a tent."
Turning to face Lucius he took the fox in properly for the first time, the small details, things that said more about a person than even words could. With a satisfied smile he nodded "To business? I prefer action over words, unless of course you would enjoy some idle chit-chat? I must say, casual conversation sometimes seems the only thing that keeps a man sane in such times as war..."
-
Lucius waited for his honored guest to get into his tent before he entered himself and he Closed up the tent door. The fox was wearing camo pants and jacket with black boots. He was well kept and he was somewhat clean. After he closed up the tent he turned to the wildcat and smiled softly.
"I agree commander, so let's chat, please sit." he said as he went to his cooler and he looked over at him. "would you care for a beer?" he asked.
-
For once Kitt let his smile slip, replaced by a brief grimace of mild disgust "I cant stand the stuff. It is not a taste I have grown to enjoy, no offence meant, of course." The smile returned as he sat down, oblivious to the mud that soaked his fatigues.
He pulled a hip-flask out from the inside of his jacket and drank deeply from it, grimacing again, but this time with a smile as he swallowed the fiery liquor "Hruškovica, a speciality from my home, distilled from pears. Unfortunately we do not have much left, but the mere offer of it is often enough to raise my men's moral tenfold..."
He offered the flask to Lucius with a grin "Normally our supplies are kept for ourselves, but I feel that I should be as generous as you have proven to be, commander...But come! What of you and your men? I am sure we both have a tale to tell before we settle to our business..."
-
Lucius didn't take offense to not taking up on his request for a drink. He plucked one for himself and popped it open. He noticed that the commander pulled out a flask.
"sounds like good stuff." he said as he took the offered flask and drank some of the liquor. "mmm, good stuff." he said as he felt the delightful burn in his throat from the drink. "wow, must be popular." he said handing him the flask back.
"well how did you form such a magnificent artillery unit. Must have taken sometime." he said as he sipped his beer from the bottle. Compared to the liquor he just tried this was nothing.
-
Kitt took the the flask back and drank again, drawing in a deep breath between his sharp teeth. He shrugged "No time at all. The Red-Star are tenacious, and we are no different. I rallied the men and women we had, for our women are considered by many to be the better fighters in our society, and strove to drive a counter-attack against these foul Sergals."
Sighing Kitt motioned a hand to at Lucius "What of you? I presume you killed the owners of those teeth around your neck yourself. I can only assume therefore that you have been as active in this war as we have." He watched Lucius curiously and leant back in the chair, pulling his beret off and running a hand through his tousled hair.
-
max began working his hobby, a bomber to go along with his scout and fighter. he stood in the hanger welding with nothing but an old radio to listen to.
(I'm assuming we have some kind of space travel technology. if not just tell me.)
-
(yes but it's kinda hard to obtain parts)
"women fighters huh." he said as he remembered plenty of women fighters that died in battle along side him. He sipped his beer and set it down on the table.
as the commander mentioned his necklace of teeth he looked down at him and nodded. "momentos from battles and hunting kills." he said as he fiddled with the biggest tooth innthe middle of the necklace. "my infantry consists of men and women we found hiding in fear and some wanted revenge because of there family members getting killed.
-
"Hmm. Well I congratulate you and your infantry on surviving thus far, many cannot claim do have done the same." Sighing, Kitt pulled his beret back on and eyed Lucius with a calm severity "So, shall we turn to business? I have a battalion of artillery, well disciplined, highly trained yet low on fuel. You have a battalion, or perhaps larger I do not know, of infantry."
With another sigh he leaned closer to Lucius "If we fight together we can compensate for each others weaknesses... It is not something I take lightly, for the Red-Star have always fought alone. But to be stuck in old ways can be damaging. What say you?"
-
"well we don't have much heavy weapons, but we have slot of fuel." he said as he leaned back in his chair. "it is true that old ways can hurt." he said as he thought about it for a sec.
Wolfgang smiled at the commander and he held his paw out to the wildcat. "I will help you with fuel, but you have to help me with heavy weapons." he said with a sly grin.
-
Returning the grin, Kitt reached out and gripped the fox's forearm instead of the proffered paw. He nodded tersely "Very well. We have a deal then... My battalion will not enter your camp however, we shall station outside your perimeter. While I am rather more lenient in my views I believe my men would still prefer us to fight alone."
He sighed "I suppose that is it then, we should get to work at once refuelling my vehicles. Our side of the deal will come into play whenever next we attack the enemy..." Standing up, Kitt scratched the nape of his neck and maintained a glance to Lucius "It is good that we found each other. We must be together and strong, united against these sergals..."
----
Past the perimeter of the camp, artillery vehicles stood silently. All was quiet except for the pattering of rain over mud and steel, and the occasional cough or muttering of those on guard duty. "What do you think the commander is up to then? He surely doesn't expect us to fight with these dogs?"
A wolf, dark furred and bearing a scar across his cheek took another drag on his cigarette. The feline beside him rolled her eyes before turning back to her binoculars "The commander knows what he is doing. If we must fight with them, then that is what we do... The commander knows best..."
The wolf laughed gruffly, putting his feet up on an empty fuel canister. The recon Jeep was cold and dank without the heating off, and a leak slowly dripped onto the floor from the steel roof above "Hah, if the commander knew-" With a hiss the feline put a finger to her lips, suddenly intent on something visible through her binoculars. The Wolf frowned, about to retort at being shushed. He didnt get a chance as an explosion blew the jeep into shreds. Similar explosions bloomed around the camp, some hitting tents and vehicles, sending oily flames into the sky. The ground shook under the rumbling weight of approaching tank treads...
-
a shell riped through the the side of Max's tent (that he had converted into a hanger) and riped the wing off his working progress. he dropped to his knees realising that he had been standing there mere seconds before hand. "all my hard work.....revenge!!" he jumped into the cockpit of his fighter intent on blowing up who ever shoot at him. he took of flying straight up and using a stall to back flip and start hailing missiles and lead towards the threat.
-
Lucius was in his tent as a shell ripped through the air and nearly exploded in his tent. He grabbed his M60 machine gun and ran outside to the edge to the camp where the artillery units were. "commander!" he shouted looking around for him. The fox looked over to the source of the tank treads approaching. The fox saw soldiers approaching, sergal soldiers. "open fire!" he shouted as the fox and his troops opened fire on the sergals approaching the camp.
Bullets flew in both directions, but they needed the artillery to open fire on the approaching tanks.
-
The tank column rumbled into full view. It consisted almost entirely of light tanks, vehicles designed to outflank the enemy and attack unexpectedly and more speedily than heavy tanks. It seemed they had done their job well, for the entire camp had been caught in surprise by the speed of the attack.
Armoured transports rumbled ahead of the tanks and disgorged soldiers into the front line of defences as the tanks behind kept up a fusillade of tank shells and machinegun fire...
-------
Kitt stood calmly beside one of the many artillery vehicles, pointing to targets and then to places on a map that was spread out on the earth. Two junior officers stood either side of him. They both winced as shells exploded in the camp, both wondering how their commander could stand so defiantly and calmly "Obviously the enemy has not spotted us. They where expecting to only face this infantry camp... Our camouflage, and placement on the opposite side of the camp give us the perfect advantage..."
Standing and rolling up the map, Kitt took the proffered radio from his junior officer. She glanced nervously over at the tank formation and covered her ears. Kitt frowned at her rather unofficerial behaviour, but said nothing of it. Instead he shouted into the radio "All units, track armoured targets... Open fire!"
--------
Missiles streaked over the camp, flying high over the tents, smoke trails flourishing out behind them. For several long seconds soldiers stood and stared as the missiles arced higher and higher, faster and faster... And then they fell.
Explosions rocked the ground, disintegrating tanks and infantry alike. Rocket after rocket streaked into the Sergal tank column with their accompanying boom and burst of earth and flame. The sergal tanks, reeling from the unexpected artillery barrage, attempted to flee. The tanks drove backwards, only to find their paths blocked by the wreckages of their comrades vehicles...
------
Kitt grinned, handing the radio back to the officer "The fight is over, the slaughter begins..."
-
Lucius stopped shooting his rifle as he watched the missiles flare overhead. He saw that they were aimed for the advancing columns of tanks and artillery and he ordered a retreat so the missiles could do their thing. The fox watched as the missiles came down onto the enemy troops and he just stood there between two damaged tents as the missiles rained down on the troops.
Once the attack was over Lucius grabbed his radio and he tried get in contact with his new ally. "Commander, do you read me?" he waited for a response
-
"Yes, I read you Lucius..." Kitt paused to take a drag on the rather soggy end of a cigarette before returning to the radio "...It would seem our enemies continue to hunt us down. Unfortunately for them, you are no longer alone. Surprise was a perfect asset this time..." An artillery vehicle drove past, armoured treads rumbling and engine belching oily fumes.
The radio crackled with noise for a moment or two as Kitt's voice was drowned out "-and so, I believe there is still the matter of fuel Commander. My units need diesel soon. I recommend that we refuel, and then move out. They know your position, and soon word that we are stationed here too will reach our enemies..."
Kitt paused again, watching as Red Star infantry hurried back and forth between their vehicles "This time I wish to play the host. If we could meet in the radio truck positioned at the edge of my camp, then we can consider our next move..."
-
"okay Commander, I'll meet you there." he said setting his radio into his holster and he made his way to the edge of his allies campsite and went ot the radio truck. The fox leaned against the radio truck and he pulled out a smoke and lit it, taking a long drag and exhaling from his nose.
What the fox hadn't noticed in the battle is that a bullet had grazed his skin on his left arm, some blood was dripping onto the ground. The fox pick up his radio and he called into the camp.
"Private Alan, bring in some diesel fuel ASAP." he ordered. "yes sir, be there in a few." the private replied.
-
Kitt walked through the camp, nodding distractedly to the salutes of soldiers as he passed. Finally he reached the edge of the campsite and the radio truck. Lucius was already there. Kitt nodded, he was very punctual "Commander!" Kitt set off at a slightly faster pace towards the truck, now grinning "On time I see. Better than I can say for myself..." He reached the truck and pulled out the pin that held up the rear guard. It clattered down and, after pulling open the canvas door, Kitt revealed the impromptu living quarters inside.
Jumping up into the truck, Kitt motioned for Lucius to follow. The cramped space was filled with crates of ammunition, crates obviously used both for seats and tables. Maps where strewn everywhere and electric lamps and radios littered one side. Kitt knelt down and switched on an electric heater, satisfied when it hummed softly and glowed a warm orange... "I am sorry that everything is so rudimentary. We live on the move, and so the vehicles are both our weapons, means of transport, and homes. But come, we must talk of moving your camp to somewhere safer..."
-
Lucius smiled as Kitt arrvied at the radio truck, the fox's smoke was already half way gone. The fox watched as the wildcat entered the truck and he followed him. he looked around the truck and it was really cluttered.
Lucius took a seat at one of the table with a map of the area and he started to look it over. His eyes darted across the map looking for a way out of this death trap of a location. The fox was silent for a few minutes before he looked at his newly found ally. "commander, what if we go this way towards the lake?" he pointed out on the map.
-
Grinning, Kitt leant over the map "Yes, I think you are right..." He tapped the map, once at each of the red crosses drawn on. They crossed formed a straggled line, leading north until they finally reached where Lucius' camp was "These crosses mark where we destroyed a Serval camp... Any red dots, not yet crossed, mark where we believe there to be a Serval camp still standing."
He pointed to a cluster of dots between where they where now, and the lake "These three mark an airport, munitions factory and barracks. This is the main base of of operations for the Servals in this area... Alone, we where too weak to attack it directly. And each time we destroy a minor camp, others where resupplied and set up."
With a grin, Kitt drew an imaginary line around the cluster of dots to the edge of the lake, and then from there, back over a steep hilltop and to the Serval base "If we stationed artillery here behind the hill, and fired on the barracks we could take out the majority of their troops. You and your men than move in to take both airport and munitions factory. There should be vehicles, fuel, weapons... Airplanes even... We take that, and we could liberate this whole area. For without this base, the smaller Serval forces near here would crumble." He looked up at Lucius and grinned, put up two feet on a nearby crate triumphantly...
-
"That's a great idea." he said as he looked over at his comrade smiling. He never would have figured that out. The fox smiled and he sat down on a crate and he pulled out another smoke. "you want one?" he asked as he lit his smoke.
"when do you think we should get going?" he asked as he inhaled on his smoke and he leaned back a bit. "If you ask me we should get going soon so we aren't attacked again by the sergal forces." he said as he looked at the map again. The lake could be there new lifeline, clean water instead of having to use bottled water looted from stores.
-
Kitt took the cigarette and gratefully lit it, drawing a deep drag on it before replying "I intend for us to be ready to move this evening. And I have a plan for that as well..." He grinned and leant back against a crate, putting his feet up on the electric heater "You have large number of tents... The enemy knows where your camp is. What if we where to take down as few of the tents as are needed for your men to sleep in and tie them to my vehicles. Your men would have to march on foot I'm afraid, for we do not have many transports, but those who are injured will take priority over my own men."
Still grinning, Kitt leant forward "What we do is we move under the cover of night. My vehicles will carry tents and equipment, tied down or in the holds, your men will march with us. We only take as few tents as possible because we are going to leave part of your camp behind..."
He flashed a sly grin "We leave behind as many tents as possible, we could even drag the burnt out tanks from the enemy attack nearby as well. Set everything up so when viewed from a distance a camp still appears to be there. Once an enemy attacks the camp they will realise at once, but It may give us the time we need to escape and reach that lake." Kitt took another drag on the cigarette and raised an eyebrow "What do you think? It is tactics like these that have allowed my forces to remain unscathed for so long..."
-
"sounds like a great idea to me commander, we'd better tell our troops about our plan." he said taking one last drag on his smoke and tossing the butt outside. The fox got up from the crate and he headed to his camp and he told his troops about the plan. They were happy to be finally moving out of his death trap.
Lucius returned to his tent and he started to gather up what he thought were the most important; maps, food, water, communication devices, bulletproof laptop, and files of his troops. After he was done getting everything he needed he ordered a couple of his mention to bring down his tent; he was going to have to bunk with a fewnof his soldiers.
-
Kitt watched silently as Lucius climbed out of the truck. He waved a final salute in farewell and then was finally alone "Vladimir, I assume you where listening..." At the far end of the truck, a small window to the cab slid open. A dark furred wolf was sat at the wheel of the truck, also smoking. He nodded matter of factly "Of course."
Taking a drag on his smoke, Kitt glanced up towards the window and the wolf "And what do you think comrade?" Vladimir grinned, sharp white teeth glinting "I think they are exactly what we have been looking for..."
-----
Men ran back and forth, rolled up tents and crates carried between them and tied down onto vehicles with rope and nets. Kitt walked through the camp, boots squelching in the churned up mud as he watched the progress of moving out. The Red Star soldiers and Lucius' men where working together, if rather begrudgingly, and it was all coming together quickly and efficiently.
He grinned, looking up to the sky. It was darkening, soon it would be night, and they could be on their way...
-----
Night fell quickly, clouds obscuring the sun before it sank below the horizon, meaning the last few tents where packed up by torchlight. Men where formed up into groups, nervously checking over weapons as the crew of the Red Star vehicles made one last check. Every truck was packed to bursting, every artillery vehicles laden with equipment.
Kitt reached for his radio, checking his watch. 9:05 PM flashed from his wrist and he nodded, flicked the radio switch and crushed a cigarette butt under one boot "Move out!" As one, the column of vehicles started their engines, black smoke belching and treads lurching forwards. Kitt jumped up onto the step of the truck as it moved off, wheels churning up the mud as the two armies made their way over the hillside...
-
Lucius was riding on one of the trucks armed with his M60 machine gun. The fox watched as his men and the Red Star soldiers walked alongside the vehicles. He looked back as he saw his camp disappear in the distance, it looked like their were still people there.
The fox grabbed his radio and held it to his muzzle "commander Va'Szarda, how's everything going?" he asked as he looked around, coughing a bit from inhaling a bit of the dirty smoke from one of the artillery trucks.
-
At the head of the column a single jeep lead the way. Swerving and bouncing it raced over the muddy earth, the driver grinning as he skidded the little vehicle up the slope. Kitt locked the wheel again, swerving around a large boulder, and reached for his radio. He held the device between cheek and shoulder, still driving at top speed as he spoke "Hello commander, all goes well... So long as the men on foot can keep up this pace then we are making good progress-"
He paused, swerved around another boulder and bounced the jeep over a muddied rut in the earth. In the passenger seat a soldier gripped the sides of his seat for his dear life, eyes wide as Kitt swerved the jeep to a halt. The soldier relaxed, if only slightly, and Kitt stepped out of the jeep.
He closed the door behind him and pulled out a pair of binoculars, scanning the horizon as he talked into his radio "-Like I said, we are making good progress. I say we stop during the day, set up temporary camp. There is a forest marked on the map, in the bottom of a valley halfway between us and the destination. How about we stay there and then move again during the night?"
-
Crocodile stalked the caravan, watching the one with the one they called... He dug into his mental databank... Kitt. He blinked with interest as the jeep stopped and Kitt got out. 'I'll play with him, see if he'll notice me.' Croc thought as he emitted a low growl designed to get Kitt's attention, then darted away to a diffferent position on the other side of the road by cross up ahead then coming back. He snarled loudly, the went ahead, crossed, and came back on the other side. 'Now, let's see if this ruse works.' He thought. He was one nobody's side as of yet, though he knew he had to choose soon... Otherwise he might be mistaken for the enemy and killed. Gears in his legs whirred softly as he stepped back, surveying the now cautious caravan of soldiers.

Kitt drew a pistol from the holster at his hip and raised the weapon, already stepping back towards the jeep. He cocked his head to one side and glanced curiously at the newcomer... If he was a spy for the sergals, there was no question but to shoot him. Then again they had made no other move but to get his attention... They could possibly be an ally, or at least helpfull...
Behind the jeep several trucks rolled to a halt. The column of vehicles had caught up, hundreds of vehicles belching fumes into the sky, engines rumbling. Men, red star infantry, jumped out of the two nearest trucks. They raised weapons and fired, bullets flying kicking up mud around the single figure ahead. More men made to rais their guns, even as Kitt held up a hand and shouted "Hold fire!"
-
"It would appear... You are... Suspicious." Crocodile hissed cooly as he stepped from the jungle, three dozen assault rifles pointed on him in less than a second. "One could assume... We are the same... Situation." He mused, his words coming slowly. "Forgive the... Speech, but I've yet to fully master your... tongue." The cyborg whirred. He shifted from foot to foot, gears in his legs working as he did so. "Why do you fight those... Others? They are your.... Kind, why not... Build, instead of destroy? Create lives... Instead of ending them. Not that I... Question your motives... I am simply curious." Croc told the soldier. "I can be of some use, if it's so your desire. I can move faster than any of... Them." He whirred. He swung his powerful tail from side to side. He took a step back towards the jungle when he heard a safety switch go off. "They are... Trigger-happy, it would seem. Not exactly a bad trait, wouldn't you agree?" Crocodile said, flashing a fanged grin at Kitt.
-
Lucius saw that the column came to a stop and he jumped off his vehicle and he headed up to the front of the column of vehicles and he saw a cybernetic Croc talked to Kitt. He stood a few steps behind the red Star commander and he heard him speak. He was amazed at the cybernetic parts whirring and moving around. He had a feeling that something wasn't quite right, why was this...thing (no offense) out by himself. Most people who tried to go out on there own were usually killed.
The fox stepped forward besides Kitt and looked at the cyborg, his M60 still ready to fire if necessary. He listened to the croc speak as he talked about the sergals. He raised an eyebrow as he recieved the cyborg's speech to help the sergal race instead of fighting them. "what's your name?" he asked looking at him as he stepped back towards the jungle.
-
"My name... Is Crocodile." He replied, stepping from side to side. "You're probably... Curious, as to why I have chosen... Who to... Fight for. It is indeed... Quite simple. I've yet to see... Who has... A better cause. It would appear... You are the, err... Superior choice. Not that I approve of this needless war... But it seems I would have to take a side sooner or later." Crocodile said. "With your... Permission... I will, can, rather... Fight for you." The cybernetic dinosaur whirred.
-
Kitt kept his pistol raised and shouted back at his men in a native language, sharp and thick accented "держать свое оружие на него!" The soldiers all trained their weapons on the croc and on the back of the jeep a soldier traversed the heavy machine gun around.
Kitt glanced across at Lucius, and then back to the croc "How do I know you are not fighting for the other side?" he laughed derisively and flicked off the safety on his pistol "They have spies... I've seen good men, that I thought to be loyal and true to their people. Pah!" With a another sour laugh he spat onto the mud between them. Lowering his pistol Kitt glanced to Lucius again "What do you think? I say we shoot him where he stands... Though, I suppose if what he says is true. His abilities could be of good use to us..."
-
"What reason... Would I have to fight for them? They destroy their environment... And sour the Earth. I've not seen this among your... People. And besides..." He said, gears whirring in his jaws as he opened his mouth again, "What do you have to lose?" He said, grinning with a fanged smile. The answer dawned on everyone slowly: A lot. "But, to be honest... I am not with the other side. I have no knowledge of their camp. If you wish, you can take my chip and analyze it. I've no knowledge of the... Others." He whirred.
-
Lucius watched Croc as he moved around from side to side, he slowly cocked his M60 and he looked down at the ground as Croc asked what he had to lose. For one his life, or his freedom. The fox looked back at Kitt and he shook his head. "no..." he said looking at Croc. "not...yet." he said as he walked towards the cyborg slowly, making sure he wasn't overstepping his boundaries.
"We could use everyone we can against these creatures." he said to Croc looking at him.
-
Crocodile stepped back as Lucius started towards him. "Don't come any closer." He growled, stiffening his tail and lowering his head. He kicked up dust, but didn't charge. "Do you want... My help, or not? You can trust me... Whether you choose to believe it or... Not. All I ask for... Is a... Minor repair." He said with no deceit in his voice.
-
Growling, Kitt stepped back. He kept his pistol raised warily, while his men mirrored the unease with their guns still levelled "Fine... If he wishes to fight for us, I suppose we should accept him."
Kitt turned back to Crocodile, watching him curiously "What is this repair you speak of? I have a number of engineers at my disposal, but whatever it is we must keep moving..." He glanced up at the star-strewn sky, trying to gauge how long they had until dawn "... I cannot allow this to prevent us reaching safety before day break... Speak quickly."
-
"if he needs a repair i can help, i have most of my tools ready in my carrier, we can do the repairs on the move and I'm right at the back so its not like he can cause much trouble other than messing with my ships and tools." max said walking up to the front of the crowd with grease smudged across the scales on his cheek and mud up to his knees from salvaging parts after the battle.
-
Kitt gave a quick glance to max, a venemous sneer forming and then disappearing a moment later as he spoke "I suppose... That is up to commander Lucius though, you are not one of my men." He turned and shouted to the red star infantry. They promptly lowered guns and ran back to trucks and vehicles, boots squelching through the thick mud.
Kitt opened the door to his jeep, then glanced over at Lucius "If you wish, sort it out... But me and my men stay here no longer. You must realise that the red star are on your side, but only so long as our safety is not compromised..." With that he jeep lurched into motion, followed by the lumbering trucks and artillery vehicles, fumes belching into the night sky once more as the convoy slowly set forth again...
-
Crocodile kept pace with the slow-moving convoy, walking next to Kitt's jeep. "My voicebox... Is rather... Damaged. Hence the... speech impediment." He whirred, gears working as he kept pace with the jeep, his tail swishing. "I ask for no other... Supplement... To fight for you other than that."
-
Lucius hopped on a truck and he sat down and watched the scenery slowly go by. He was a few trucks back from kitt's jeep and he kept thinking of Croc. Lucius lost his trust with society when the government didn't do a thing when the sergals attacked and his friends and family were killed.
Lucius kept his eye out for the enemy in case of an ambush. They were nearly half way to the lake. Lucius got out a bottle that he had in his coat pocket and popped it open and sipped it. It was a beer he had managed to get before leaving.
-
Kitt leant out of the window of the jeep, this time allowing a rather more mature soldier to drive instead. He watched Crocodile warily and shrugged "Well... That soldier, max? He's under the command of Commander Lucius I assume... Talk to him about it..."
Drawing back into the jeep Kitt unfolded a map and put his boots up on the dashboard. The soldier driving made as if to complain, but instead thought better of it and continued to drive... "This stop has set us back. But if we keep up this pace, we should make it to this forest in half an hour... We stop there for the day, and then do the other half of the journey tomorrow night..." The soldier nodded and spoke gruffly "Glad we got people like you makin' the plans sir. I reckon we can get through this good, them servals wont know what 'it 'em after this..."
-
Crocodile fell back and picked up the pace again, now on Kitt's side. He seemed to be preening his metal as he walked. Suddenly, he gasped. "There it is!" He whirred, gesturing to an outward-facing dent in his neck. "Kitt... Could you take your sidearm... And... Shoot this... Dent?" He asked, a hint of fear in his voice. He didn't like the idea of getting shot to repair himself, but it'd work.
-
Lucius soon finished his beer and he looked on as the convoy continued, he could see the forest in the distance and they were indeed running out of moonlight and the sun was going to come up in a few hours. The fox put the bottle in his coat so the sergals couldn't find the bottle and track them.
Lucius got out his radio and he contacted Kitt. "Commander, are we stopping for the night?"
-
Sighing, Kitt reached for his radio and pressed the call button "Yes commander, up ahead are the forests I noted on the map. Hopefully we can camp there for the day... Servals should hopefully have a hard time finding us in the cover of the trees... I'd say about ten minutes before we get to the tree line, another ten finding a place to set up temporary camp."
As he spoke Kitt pulled out his pistol, flicking off the safety. He drew it across his chest, not taking his eyes away from the forest ahead, and fired at the dent in Croc. He turned to glance at Crocodile "That got it?"
-
Crocodile shook his head to clear the ringing from his ears, but he was grinning widely. "Wonderful! Thanks a lot! Now I can talk regularly." He said, bowing his head in thanks to Kitt as they went down the path. "I should probably scout ahead, see if the Servals are there. There is a clearing we could use up ahead; it has some trees for cover, but not much else other than room to move around in." He said, looking down the road. He looked up at Kitt. "With your permission, sir, I would like to move up ahead and see if the Servals are around."
-
"okay, thanks." he said as he turned off his radio and he clipped it to his belt and leaned against the truck. He was startled the gunshot and he looked around with his gun raised, after about a minute he relaxed since their was no more gunshots being heard. The fox got another item out of his coat pocket. It was a cigar he had with him. He rarely smoked cigars but he found this to be a good moment to have one.
As he got out his cigar one of his men walked by. "having a cigar sir?" he asked. "it feels like the right time son." he added before he lit the end and inhaled.
-
Kitt narrowed his eyes "Hmn... I guess that would be usefull. But if you lure us into a trap, or do anything else suspicious, we will shoot you on sight..." He shrugged, leaning out of the window slightly and watching the forest draw ever nearer "Dont take it personally, I trust no one..."
The convoy continued at its slow pace, trucks and artillery vehicles slewing up mud under their tyres and tracks. Infantry marched alongside the vehicles, trudging through the
ankle-deep mud. The prospect of safety and rest spurred them on as the thick pine trees loomed in the distance, moonlight poking through the branches, and the first signs of dawn already creeping over the horizon...
-
max sat on the back of his rig thinking when he saw a teen running around with something familiar. "put that down!" he ran and slid under the boy who had tripped when looking back to see who had spoken. max didn't care about the guy, just the device he was carrying. "where did you get this?" he asked looking up for the kid who had already disappeared. "guess that answers that..." he opened the small door on the side of the truck and climbed inside with all the tool, machinery and his 2 3/4 ships and quickly found the spot the small apple sized generator had been taken from. "why did they have to 'rescue' me from that serval camp...i had it made there hot food, warm beds, all the tech i needed for my projects. i mean was it so much to ask for them to grab my files rather than just burning 7 years worth of tech advancements. who the heck am i talking to anyway?" he sighed and sat down next to the small door, watching the scenery slowly roll away.
-
(I know I changed my avatar, I'm still rp-ing as that cyber-saur Crocodile.)
"I understand your trust for no one, believe me," Crocodile told Kitt. "But, really? You've never gone out with someone other than your own soldiers and know that they'd take a bullet for you?" He went from looking up at Kitt to ahead down the path. "It must be... Eerie. Thinking everyone could have a knife to your back." He said. "I'll be back in a flash." He whirred, and took off down the road. The soldier in the passenger-side of Kitt's jeep tensed, then realized he wasn't escaping. Crocodile made it to the clearing easily, and looked around. He saw a barrel poking from the bushes. As cracks of rifles flew out across the clearing and bullets flew past, Crocodile did the only thing he could; he turned....
And ran for his life.
-
Lucius watched as he saw the cyber croc run down the road. He shrugged and he looked over at the rising sun, it had been a long time since he saw a sunrise, especially what happened to him and someone close to him during the war before it reached the United States. The fox shook the thought from his head and he started to fiddle with the necklace of sergal teeth around his neck.
One of Lucius's men hopped up onto the truck and sat down next to him. "You're awfully quiet commander." he said looking over at him.
"Well I just have a bad feeling about moving around, with the sergals being natural hunters who knows they could be watching us right now and we wouldn't even know it."
-
The driver sitting beside Kitt swore loudly, slamming a foot on the brake and bringing the vehicle to a sliding halt "Gunfire in the woods commander!" Kitt frowned, watching as Croc ran back along the road, zigzagging as bullets ricochetted around the metal creature. Opening the door of the jeep he stepped out and pulled out a radio "Armoured transports, drive them out!"
The armoured column had drawn to a stop, artillery vehicles warily edging backwards and men ducking for cover. From among all the vehicles three gunned their engines, fumes belching from their exhaust stacks as their treads churned up the mud. Turrets swivelled to face the woods, picked their targets, and fired. Bullets tore through the trunks and bushes, screams and shouts piercing the quiet morning. Rolling forward, more slowly now, the three armoured transports stopped at the edge of the forest. Bullets pinged of their armour futilely as sergals broke cover and ran, only to be shot down.
Kitt grinned, of course an ambush had to be expected... But this was a poorly defended area... Obviously the sergals had not been expecting two entire companys to come this way. His grin vanished just as quickly as it appeared. The armoured transport furthest to the right exploded and rolled onto its side, spilling oily flames into the sky. A missile contrail lead from the wrecked vehicle to a patch of bushes, Sergal infantryman hurriedly reloading his launcher.
He never made it however. The remaining two transports gunned their engines, smashing through the bushes like metal rhinos, crushing the sergal under their armoured treads. Kitt's grin returned as he closed the jeep door and turned to his radio "Everyone, move out and set up temporary camp... The forest is ours..."
-
Lucius was started by the bullets flying through the air, he grabbed his somrade and he ducked behind the truck he was on. He grabbed his M60 and he opened fire on the forest as the artillery trucks blasted into the forest. He ducked down as one of the truck was blown up.
Once the fire had ceased Lucius's men got the tents that they brought and they started to set up a temporary camp. Lucius got his tent from the truck and he started to set it up. Once it was set up he set up his cot and lied down on it. He got out the pack of smokes and he lit one and inhaled. "nothing is ever easy." he muttered to himself as he looked out the door of the tent.
-
max heard the brakes engage but it was to late, as the truck skidded to a stop he rolled backwards hitting his head on a shelf of spare parts knocking him clean out. max woke up about an hour later to the sound of people outside the trailer, "what happened?" he groaned rubbing his head. seeing kit not to far away he decided to ask him what had gone on that had caused the convoy to suddenly stop. "excuse me, could you tell me what happened earlier? why did everyone stop so suddenly?"
-
Kitt glanced up at the voice, frowning "You are still here?" He shook his head and shrugged "We where ambushed. Unluckily for them there are a lot of us... We will be moving again at nightfall." With that he walked away through the camp, passing between the tents and vehicles. Around the camp, men took turns on lookout duty, while inside people huddled around electric heaters and lay down after a full night of marching.
Finally he reached Lucius' tent and ducked under the flap "Knock knock..." He grinned, muddier and dirtier than ever. Still grinning he pulled off his beret and sat down on a spare crate "All is going well. Defences are set around the perimeter, the men are resting... I believe we might be able to do this, commander."
-
"yea, i don't know why...." max sighed watching kitt walk off. a snap decision came to mind, he walked back to his truck and sealed the trailer back up. he climbed into the drivers seat, he sighed, still unsure of his decision, he started the truck and gunned the engine driving out of the camp. his destination was an abandoned sergal base nearby. he pulled up at the entrance to an underground tunnel, he walked over to a small key pad and typed in a ten number keycode to open the door. once the door had opened he drove inside, parking in the middle of the base he sighed "home sweet home..." he looked around seeing skeletons of surgals from when he was 'liberated.' slowly he walked into a burnt out concrete bunker. the floor was covered in burnt papers and ash, a lone computer sat in the far corner. he quickly went over to the computer and ripped out the hard drive before returning to his truck. "I'll show them what real power is." he smiled as a file opened on a small screen entitled 'R.C.R.S.S'
-
Crocodile waited... The silence was deafening. He had hopped into the back of Max's truck unnoticed, and now it was boiled all down to this. He heard Max sit back into his seat... Crocodile leaned forward, growling in Max's ear. "Move and you die." He hissed, flicking his forked mechanical tongue out like a snake. "In case you're wondering, I've been here the entire time. Now start the engine and head back to camp or I'll give you a columbian necktie so fast you won't realize you're dead." He snarled, spitting out the word 'dead'. "Get going." He whirred, slinking into the back of the truck, watching Max.
-
"wait, before you force me to do some thing I'll regret think. how do you know i wasn't ordered to come here? and why should i go back? they think they rescued me, they burnt almost all my research, research that could be used to enhance both you and kitt's effectiveness tenfold. but i can't recreate my previous work if I'm dead. so if your going to kill me than do it, but remember, if my finger hits this key..." he put his finger in one of the keys on the keyboard connected to the salvaged hard drive "then everything on this hard drive is lost to the world seeing as all my files were destroyed when this base was taken originally." he looked back into the trailer and could see the stowaway contemplating his options.
-
Kitt glanced up at the voice, frowning "You are still here?" He shook his head and shrugged "We where ambushed.
Lucius looked up over at Kitt as he came into his tent. He sat up and he stretched softly. "perfect, that attack was a big surprise wasn't it." he said as he got up and he opened the window flap of his tent. "so we'll be here until the sun goes down I assume." he added looking at his men as they started to settle down and make breakfast from their day's rations.
-
Nodding, Kitt lit up a cigarette "It is better that we move at night... Until then we can hold the perimeter and-" Shouting at the top of his voice a soldier burst into the tent, helmet askew and rifle swinging madly "Sir! A truck just broke through the defences!" Kitt swore loudly in his native language, moving towards the entrance and pulling out his pistol "How many Sergals?" the soldier shook his head, confusion in his eyes "None sir, it broke through from the inside..."
-
"I know for a fact you weren't ordered to come here because I didn't see you speak to anyone, and you got out as quick as you could." Crocodile hissed, then stopped and thought for a moment. "Hm... Enhance my effectiveness, you say?" He thought for a long while, then shot dagger-eyes at Max. "I hope you do the right thing." He whirred before hopping off the truck and disappearing into a vent.
_______________
On his way back to camp, a black wolf holding a cigarette between his fingers stepped from the forest, a smug look on his face. Crocodile stopped and swung his tail, curious. "Crocodile, I presume?" The wolf asked cooly, puffing smoke into the air. "Perhaps... Who might I be speaking to?" He asked. The wolf stared at him for a moment before saying, "Someone who can help. Your... Friends, aren't who they seem, Crocodile." The robotic dinosaur cocked his head. "Yes, you heard me. They're not the side you should be on, my friend. They're the enemy." Crocodile bared his teeth and snarled, "A sergal!" He growled. "Yes. But it seems you've been deceived. I'm not your enemy, my friend." He cooed, suddenly appearing by Crocodile's side and leaning on him, turning towards the forest. "You like this forest, no?" The sergal asked. "Yes, it was my home." He replied. "Until what happened, Crocky boy? Who drove you out from your cave and used it as a recon outpost?" The wolf asked. "Now wait a second..." He began to growl, then the flashback came. He looked down. "They did." He said, downcast. "Exactly. I can get you a better home, and a family to fight for..." He said in the dinosaur's ear, "And... a body." Crocodile's eyes widened. "That's right... All that if you see you're fighting for the wrong side... And change your ways." The wolf said. The dinosaur shuddered. He trusted Kitt, though. He gave his word...
"Deal."
-
max watched as crocodile disappeared out of the base. "i know what I'm doing, this will work." he began typing on the small key pad again before disconnecting the hard drive. he walked over to a hidden door which opened as he put his hand on a scanner disguised as a damaged section of the wall. he walked down the stairs quietly, unsure if the others had left anything behind of use when the base came under attack. the large room lit up, revealing the lab to be twice as large as the base. almost instantly a small group of people poked their heads out to see who had found their hiding spot. "hi everyone, i came back, just like i promiced i would." max said as a girl, no older than 17, ran up and hugged him. she was quickly followed by six others all but one younger than max. "nice to have you back max." "nice to be back, my only regret so far is not coming back sooner."
-
Kitt walked out of the tent, glaring around "Who was responsible for letting the vehicle out?" the soldier ran a hand through his short hair nervously, jerking a thumb over to a young soldier who could be no more than nineteen "That would be Jervai commander... But please, sir. Its not his fault-" Kitt held up a hand, walking past the first soldier. Everywhere soldiers had gathered, attracted to the sounds of shouting. Kitt came to a halt and pulled out his pistol.
The young soldier glanced between him, and the others, sweat running down his chin. He spoke with a heavy accent "Sir, please. I could not stop the truck getting through with only a rifle-" Kitt spat onto the mud, raised his pistol, and fired. The shot rang through the forest and the soldier slumped backwards, blood spattering over his uniform. Red star men watched solemnly, while infantry under the command of Lucius flinched, and stared wide-eyed.
Holstering the gun, Kitt glanced across at his men, growling "I will not tolerate excuses... Double the guards, shoot anyone entering or leaving on sight..." And with that he turned and walked away towards the radio truck, leaving several red star infantry to pull the corpse away to a shallow grave.
---
The radio truck was silent and empty as Kitt climbed up inside it. Electric lamps cast the maps and equipment in bright light, dark shadows everywhere else. Kitt sat down on an empty crate and took a deep drag on his cigarette, hands shaking as he removed the stump and flicked it away.
He breathed out a long trail of smoke and held his head in his hands. He cared for them... He lead them... He fought tooth and nail for them, every step of the way fighting to keep them alive. And they repaid him with insolence, with excuses and treachery! With a low growl Kitt slammed his fist against the wall of the truck, hollow bang reverberating through the vehicle. He sighed and pulled out another cigarette...
They had to get to the lake, and then from there the sergal base... And there, he would find what he needed... What the Red Star needed to win this war once and for all...
-
max looked around and smiled. the others gave him a tour of what they called home and he liked what he saw. "neon converters, plasma coils, raiden hiperdrive parts, where did you get all this stuff?" "we scavenged most of it, after you were taken a lot of usable euipment was left behind including these." the young female fox talking walked over to two half-tracks from back before the war. "old tech met new tech and we riged a cloaking device to both trucks. once the lids on we can disapear and due to the mods we've made and the sensors we instaled we can avoid both fights and most terain that leaves tracks for others to follow." max looked at the armored trucks and simply smiled. "still got any of the R.C.R.S.S. project around here?" "enough that we can make mk VII or IX"
