Title: An Idea
Post by: Aoren Deringer on December 04, 2010, 03:37:03 AM
A bit of an odd one, to be honest. I was thinking about re-fitting an old transit bus to be an RV, I recently saw one going for a little under 2.4k.
I want to remove the windows, extra door, put in customized tinted windows, instal a fridge and oven, maybe put in a hammock.
Sound sweet or what?

Only issue is that it has like 90 billion miles on it >.>

Lol, and play 70's rock on some speakers mounted to the roof XD

But I mostly chose the hammock because they are comfortable, easy to clean, and I can put in multiples.
Maybe make a furry van... Go on a fur-centric tour with some people...
My idea is evolving <3

Too small for a decent hammock? They come in smaller than bed's you know, and they can replace them :o

But yea... I can see it now...

But I'd still have to learn to turn that beast. I mean, really, its a 60 ft...

you could always remove a section and turn it into a trailer, that would solve the length and where all the lugage could go in one. and as for the hammock, just make sure no ones in one when your moving. it could hurt.

You should just make sure it's going to be cost effective. Add up the cost of the bus, fridge, oven, and the other materials you'd have to buy, and compare it to the cost of a typical used RV. Take into consideration the number of miles on it and the condition of the bus and appliances, and then decide whether it will be worth the time and money or not.

I did, in fact after all the equipment is put in would cost less than a decent 60 ft  RV, and this one would be faarrr more gasoline effective. Still only 13 MPG,  but your average RV of that size (which would still fit less people) only gets about 9 unless you want to buy an upper scale one, which even used costs over 20K.

So... This would be more work, but cheaper in the long run. Would also be more awesome having a custom job.

Still need to get more funding together either way, but this bad boy aint going anywhere for a loonnngggg time.
